We as a fandom simply do not speak enough about how perfectly casted Cameron Monaghan was as Mason in the VA movie. Despite everything wrong with that film he was so well done. He came to set and knew exactly who Mason was supposed to be. We deserved to see more of him, and everyday I mourn what we lost.

I forgot Spirit Bound ended on some WILD SHIT

Before there was Xaden the venin and the sudden marriage that sent shockwaves through the book community…

There was Dimitri the Strigoi and Rose Hathaway the alleged murderer of the Queen!

I didn’t end up starting VA from the start (though I realllly wanna go back and reread Frostbite) and just kinda continued Shadow Kiss and skimmed through Blood Promise. But I sat and read all the way through Spirit Bound.

And Richelle Mead was WILDING.

It’s also really fun in retrospect bc Dimitri, the whole time after he got transformed back into a dhampir, is like “I don’t want to see Rose. I don’t deserve Rose. She’s not safe around me. I don’t love you Rose! Love fades, mine has” WHICH FUCKIN HEARTBREAKING LINE I STILL HAVENT RECOVERED AND ITS BEEN 10 YEARS SINCE I READ VAMPIRE ACADEMY

But also the whole time he says all that above he’s doing double takes every time he sees her, he gets distracted by her presence, he gets all heated and emotional and passionate around her in a way he absolutely doesn’t with anyone else, and even if he wants to ignore her, every time they run into each other he can’t help but answer when she talks to him. And the one time she doesn’t and chooses to ignore him, which he supposedly wanted this whole time, HE ASKS HER A QUESTION FIRST.

And in that same conversation, she was barely talking. Most of her answers were short and to the point. And yeah it was about an important topic. But dude could have just as easily turned to the other guardians and asked them.

AND THEN. This absolute fool. Rose gets surrounded and his first and immediate instinct is to a) go back to back with her so they could fight easily WITHOUT HESITATION and

b) when it was clear Rose was the target, he immediately threw her behind him and started swinging. He was ready to fucking risk it all for her. Reformed Strigoi be damned. Returning to society successfully, forgotten. Rose was in danger and he wasn’t about to let her get hurt.

Dude was stuck in his stubborn damn mind about how he should feel about her but was already falling back in love with her with every interaction. Dude was ready to throw down at the hearing too.
