I'm on season two of Not Quite Dead and Neige is so fucking funny to me. First of all, there's the implication that he just... Decided to be French? Like, don't get me wrong, I don't know how one's accent and idiolect would work when they're so old that their native language hasn't been spoken for many generations and it's possible that he spent a long time in France and is just Like That now, but the way he really leans into the snooty French stereotype and peppers French into his vocabulary really says to me that he is cosplaying a Frenchman, which i love

Secondly, there's the fact that Alfie has no idea how old he is, despite the fact that he does not hide it at all. Alfie's all like "damn i wonder if he's old enough to remember the roman empire. that'd be crazy hahaha" man, fuck Rome, this guy remembers fucking Mesopotamia. He predates written language!! Granted, he didn't get much into specifics before the episode I'm currently on (ep20), but it's not like he was keeping it locked up tight before that. The phrase "proto-indo-european" was used in the ep 16, the first episode where Alfie knew basically anything about Neige at all! "does he remember the roman empire" fucking hell, man

Since I listened to Deus ex Sanguine I had this reference I wanted to draw Alfie with. The violance and gore is one of my fave part of the podcast but it also breaks my heart whenever these characters talk about the violence committed against them
