Above everything, Dani Manhattan is self-aware. You kind of have to be, when you're the daughter of two media giants who is working her way up to being a pretty successful social media influencer. You also kind of have to be, when you're a huge bitch whose incapable of even bothering to hide it. Cate's words, not Dani's. But Cate isn't wrong—most people aren't. Dani figured a long time ago that she would be better off making 'brutal honesty' her brand. It helps that she's objectively beautiful and one of the strongest supes currently attending Godolkin University. People piss their pants at just the idea of having to confront her. Sure, she isn't exactly surrounded by good friends, but who cares? She's hot, smart, has four million followers on Instagram, and fucking Golden Boy on the DL. She's on top op the goddamn world, who cares about a couple friends? Dani doesn't. Truly. But she might care about Luke, even if just a little. So when Luke kills himself seemingly out of nowhere, she decides to do something about it. It's not like she can trust his friends to be capable enough of solving this by themselves, anyway.

Gio wants to think he's a good person. He works hard in class, he shares his notes with anyone who asks, and he even sometimes volunteers in soup kitchens over the Christmas break. He's a good person, because he has to be, because he feels like he owes the universe something. Because if he isn't a good person, that means Billy Butcher was right, and he can't let that happen. Gio is such a good person, even, that he trusts Marie Moreau without a second thought. And he sticks besides her. Even when she nearly gets him killed. Even when being associated with her causes him to become a literal enemy of the state. He does it all because he's a good person, okay? It has nothing to do with the fact that Dani Manhattan is involved, at all. He hadn't even noticed.

Freshly shredded cheese is then slid off her cutting board and into a seasoned roux on the stove, focusing solely on her task and only continuing her sentence once she starts stirring.

                             CROWLEY DEFINITELY IS SOME STINKING RICH WALL STREET GUY. They met to try out a new cocktail bar in Manhattan and, as usual, decided to get some dessert after, but it would have taken forever to get to Steve's little house (and the bedroom) and the weather had started to get really terrible, so Steve suggested they go to Crowley's place instead, only Crowley's place turned out to be a fucking hotel suit in the Pendry Manhattan West. The towels alone might be worth more than Steve's entire bathroom furniture. 

                              Now he's standing in front of the head-high windows, naked (up here, nobody would see him anyway), and rubbing his hair dry with one of the unbelievably soft towels, looking out at the rain that had turned into a thunderstorm while they'd been busy in bed. Now and then, hail crashes against the glass, and deep down, Steve sees gale-force winds tug at the trees. "Are you sure?" he asks, turning around to look at Crowley slouching on the bed. The soft light from the bedside lamp washes over him, and Steve is briefly distracted by his tattoos. "Well, I won't say no to that. This weather looks horrible. But–" And now he grins as he puts the towel on an armchair and walks over to sit on the bed and pull Crowley in for a quick kiss. "I'm definitely gonna order expensive room service in the morning. Get this whole Pretty Woman vibe."
