Hi Folks,
Hoosiers, comrades, and others,
Indiana has another reprehensible fucker you definitely shouldn't send postcards etc to (or if you are in Indy, definitely don't hand deliver them through the window, because they would be wrong)... Sure Foundation Baptist Church: 3037 Lafayette Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46222 Stephen Falco is calling for all queer folk to either kill themselves or be killed. Don't worry, his church (not really much of a church, it's in a strip mall for fuck's sake) issued a clarifying statement: they're not going to kill anyone themselves...they just want the state to do it for them. More here. Even Fred Phelps is looking up from Hell going "whoa there little buddy, that's kind of a lot." As a resident member of the queer community in Bloomington, I challenge Stephen Falco to a duel (swords, machetes, axes, or rocks) at dawn, preferably in one of the former quarries around the town. I strongly encourage other folks (queer and allies) to bring the fight to him through protest and similar actions. Never let those calling for your death rest until they are ground into the dirt.

The Rights of Disabled Americans Are Under Attack
We need to take action as soon as we can! Texas v. Becerra is an attack on disabled people and needs to be stopped.
What's happening? In the court case Texas v. Becerra, 17 states are suing the US government and because they are unhappy with additions made to Section 504 under the Biden Administration. They are asking the Justice Department to rule Section 504 unconstitutional!
What is Section 504? Section 504 is an extremely important law passed in the 1970s that protects disabled Americans from discrimination. If an entity, such as a school or hospital, receives money from the US government, it cannot discriminate against disabled people without losing that money.
Why are they asking for it to be ruled unconstitutional? In May of 2024, the Deparment of Health and Human Services issued updated guidelines for Section 504 to be more comprehensive and more specific about types of prohibited discriminatory actions against disabled people. Among these updated guidelines is an introduction that says (among many other things) that depending on the context, gender dysphoria could be a disability protected by Section 504. Naturally, because Republicans love to attack trans people, the Attorneys General of the 17 states, led by Ken Paxton of Texas, have launched a lawsuit about it.
Which states are part of the lawsuit? The 17 states are Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and West Virginia.
What can I do to help? The most important thing to do is to spread awareness about this. Very few people outside of the disabled community are talking about this case, which is terrifying because without Section 504, disabled people will lose part of what protects us from discrimination. If you are not disabled, please talk about this!
Another thing that you can do to help is to contact the Attorney General of your state and ask them to take action! If you live in one of the states involved with the lawsuit, you can call the office of your Attorney General and ask them to withdraw from the lawsuit. If you live in a state not involved, you can contact your state's AG and ask them to file papers with the court in support of Section 504.
You might also want to contact your representatives in Congress to tell them about the court case and ask them to take action to protect their disabled constituents. Your Senators and Representatives may be able to contact the AG of your state or take other action in support of Section 504. Here is a sample phone script to get you started:
"Hi, my name is [Name] and I am one of your constituents living in [City/Town Name]. My address is [address] (this ensures that your message/phone call will be counted). I am calling today to ask you to take action to support Section 504 and protect the rights of disabled residents of [State]. The court case Texas v. Becerra is trying to make Section 504 unconstitutional, which would leave millions of Americans, including those in our state, vulnerable to discrimination. Please contact [Attorney General] and ask [him/her] to [withdraw from this case/file papers for this case in support of Section 504]. [You may want to talk about how Section 504 is relevant to your life either as a disabled person or as someone who cares about disabled people and/or civil rights generally.] Thank you for your attention."
I will also be contacting my representatives for my state's government and asking them to commit to protecting the rights of disabled people in my state, regardless of the outcome of Texas v. Becerra. Here is the script I will be using:
"Hi, my name is [Name] and I am one of your constituents living in [City/Town Name]. My address is [address] (this ensures that your message/phone call will be counted). As you may be aware, 17 states (including our own) have filed a lawsuit against the federal government in a case called Texas v. Becerra, which if successful would make Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act unconstitutional. This would make millions of Americans, including those in our great state, vulnerable to discrimination. I am calling today to ask you to commit to protecting the rights of disabled [state residents], regardless of the outcome of this court case. I hope that you will support or introduce state legislation that protects disabled [state residents] from discrimination and other forms of harm. [You may want to talk about your experience as a disabled person or someone who cares about disabled people.] Thank you for your attention and for your work as a legislator."
Where can I find more information about this case and about actions I can take? DREDF, the Disability Rights Education & Defense Fund, has a page on their website talking all about this case and what you can do to help. They have sample scripts for contacting your state's Attorney General, as well as contact information for the AGs in all 50 states. They also held a community briefing recently where they talked about the changes to Section 504 that were introduced by the Biden Administration, what is happening with the court case, and what community members can do. The webinar recording is about 45 minutes long and can be found here.
Additionally, this website has information about the percentage of each state's population that is disabled, as well as other info. You may want to include that information when calling your various representatives.
The court will begin considering all information about the case on Tuesday, February 25th, 2025. This means that we need to act fast!
If we all come together to protect Section 504, I firmly believe that we can be successful. Let's do this!

CONNECTED TO YOU
summary: a flight home had you redirected after falling asleep. thankfully you sat next to a selfless person who offers you to stay while you can catch a real flight home.
warning(s): none
masterlist / dallas locker room / part 2
it was supposed to be strictly business, but even business wears you down. you had a work conference in minnesota and though you had only been there for 2 days, you felt like you took on the whole world for a year.
since it was the week of the fourth, flights have been booked and busy. it was difficult to find a flight home to indiana, but with some digging you managed to book a connected flight from minnesota to indiana and then it would continue down to texas.
it was a full flight so you decided to splurge and book a seat in business class. the two seat rows should ideally be more comfortable than the economy 3 seat rows.
unfortunately the flight had been very early. you woke up about two and and a half hours before your flight and very slowly made your way to the airport. of course the hotel beds werenât the most comfortable so you also lost sleep, waking every hour or so. your body had a lingering ache from the discomfort drawn by the sleeping arrangements.
but nevertheless you kept goingâchecking out of your room, getting coffee at a local shop⌠(you spilt it and had a huge stain on your shirt.) you also was late to catching the shuttle and had to pay an unnecessary fee for an uber. you certainly felt like everything that could go wrong, DID go wrong and started stacking up.
finally you made it to the airport with minimal to no problems. the stain on your shirt is damp with a strong smell. you quickly lower your headâstaring at the multicolour carpet as you roll your luggage beside you. the washroom sign lit dimly in the distance as you make a beeline for the entrance.
drawing closer and stepping past the threshold the sound of hand dryers, faucets with running water, toilets flushing and lingering sounds of voices and the movement of belongings, filled your ears.
you push open the door of the nearest stall and roll your luggage to the furthest corner from the toilet. you take a deep breath and take your shirt off before digging in your backpack for a new shirt or a jacket.
luckily you had a left over tshirt that you had stolen from your exâbecause you blame your ex, not the shirt.
you slipped it over your slightly shivering body with a heavy sigh as you rolled your shoulders a few times. your phone buzzed in your pocket and you pull it out but your hand goes limp and your phone falls out, clattering to the floor.
you wince and mumble a quick plea, quickly picking your phone up and sigh with a drop of your shoulders. imprinted on the screenâa huge diagonal crack trailing from the upper left corner to the lower centre of your screen.
you drop your arm and place your phone back into its place in your pocket before unlocking the stall door and rolling your belongings over to the sink.
as your reflection stares back at you, you notice how rough you look but you think itâs alright because itâs not like youâre going to meet your love of your life at an airport in minnesota.
thatâd be surreal.
you shook off the negativity of the day with a quick cold splash of water on your face. you patted your face with your shirt gently and made your way out and towards your gate.
after some complications (stopped by security for a luggage search and an unnecessary long wait for a water and an overpriced ham sandwich.) you finally got to your gate.
unfortunately there were little to no seats left. with a full flight to 2 destinations, it was packed. you groaned and started walking up and down the aisles to see if there was any open seats.
the uncomfortable chairs had blessed you with an open seat for one single person. next to a blonde moving her head slightly to whatever music she was listening to and an old man who let out a very vocal burp.
you internally cringe and make your way to the open seat. you place your stuff close by and attempt to shrink yourself down as you look to avoid any physical contact of skin or belongings of others.
the blondeâs arm reached out and hit you slightly.
âoh iâm sorry.â you both said at the same time.
you laughed awkwardly and turned to look at a far spot in the distance.
when you finally got on the plane with an hour delay, you checked your boarding pass and found your seat. you booked the window seat and in the aisle seat, was the same blonde at the gate.
âoh uh, i think my seat is right there.â you awkwardly comment.
she doesnât look up from her phone, her hair pulled back into a messy bun, revealing her earbuds shoved into her ears.
you look to the side and see youâre holding up the line so you quickly shove your stuff into the overhead compartment and tap the girlâs shoulder.
she looks up, her piercing eyes giving you a questioning look. âholy face cardâ you think because you donât notice when she takes out one of her earbuds.
âmaâam youâre holding up the line.â a flight attendent says sweetly.
you feel heat creep up on your neck out of embarrassment and snap back to the girl.
âmy seat, itâs there.â you point aimlessly at the window.
âoh my bad.â she shifts her body so you can snake your way through the gap as the line passes forward.
âiâm sorry.â you apologise like you were the inconvenience.
âdonât mention it.â she shoves her earbud back into her ear and you get yourself situated.
you feel your eyes getting droopy because of the roughness of the day. but you wanted to stay up for take off.
the sun shone brightly through the window, casting a blinding glow upon yourself and the girl next to you.
the weight of the day had your blood pumping and your emotions rose, but sitting in a semi-quiet plane made you stop for a moment. it was quiet for once. and it had been quiet for the first time since you first left indiana.
you sighed and looked over at the girl. you stared for a bitâstudied the slope of her nose, the curve of her lips and the little dips in her eyes. a wave a familiarity rushed through your veins as you try and place where you may have seen her.
the iconic blonde and the dallas basketball
t-shirt she wore did little to help the search in your brain.
you shrugged and looked back out the window.
the plane was still grounded, slightly delayed due to some air traffic control thing. you werenât really listening to the captainâs announcements. but you felt someone tap your shoulder.
you turn and see the girl giving you a small smile.
âhm?â you asked.
âi just thought your hair looked pretty.â she commented shyly.
âoh thank you.â you awkwardly avoided her eyes.
âiâm paige⌠by the way.â she stated.
âoh.â is all you managed to say. you werenât really sure why she was saying her name.
âsorry i just, we seem to run into each other a lot. thought well were stuck on this flight together might as well acquaintance each other.â paige corrected herself.
âspell acquaintance.â you finally met her eye.
she gave you a cheeky smile before redirecting the conversation.
âwhats your name?â she asked.
you gave her your name. she repeated it a couple times before grabbing her water and taking a big swish.
âyou like dallas?â you asked awkwardly trying to continue the conversation. it was gonna be a particularly short flight but free entertainment never hurt anyone.
âhowâd you know i live in dallas?â she asked suspiciously.
you pointed to her âdallas basketballâ shirt.
âoh right. you a uh⌠a fan? of basketball?â she asked cautiously incase you recognised her.
âi mean not really honestly. itâs a big deal back at home, with that one girl uh i donât remember her name but people say sheâs changing the league.â you responded.
paige blushed slightly, thinking you were talking about her since she was in her rookie year.
âyeah itâs a big deal in dallas. and iâm sure sheâs just trying her best.â paige stated modestly about herself.
you nodded and felt the plane jerk before starting to roll out, headed towards the runway.
you had decided to spend your plane ride sleeping so that it would âgo fasterâ. you got yourself situated and all with your blanket and your sleep mask.
the darkness pulled you in and you aimed to end up falling asleep sitting upright. but somewhere along the way you ended up lulling your head to the side and onto paigeâs shoulder. in seconds you were out cold.
paige felt a weight against her side and she stiffened, turning her head to see you asleep. now most people would wake up the person next to them, but paige understood exhaustion and the need to catch a few hours. so she let you stay.
her ipad kept her busy of course. what else would she use to pass the time?
she watched some sporting event using the planeâs wifi with you snoring softly on her.
she ate her snacks with you snoring softly on her.
she took a short nap with you snoring softly on her.
even though she took a nap, she woke up and you were still out cold. paige was woken up by the intercom system stating their landing on indiana grounds.
of course she knew it was a connecting flight, but it wasnât her stop. she hadnât thought that maybe it was your stop but she also kinda forgot you were there. she got so used to the weight you trickled away from her thoughts.
so she internally shrugged and put her eye mask back on to catch a few more hours.
you woke up not too long after the plane took off again.
you removed your eye mask and realised how you were sleeping. you felt yourself getting pink at the thought of sleeping on a stranger, rather a pretty one.
but you squinted your eyes and looked out the window. still flying. (not like you couldnât feel the planeâs movement.) paige was still asleep and you didnât want to wake herâand you didnât want the confrontation conversation.
in your mind you thought you only slept for a little bit. not once did the thought of missing your stop creep up in your mind.
you yawned and waived to a nearby flight attendant.
âyes, maâam?â she asked politely.
âwill we be landing soon?â you asked.
âyes, maâam. about 20 minutes out.â
you smiled and thanked her, watching her walk off to a different part of the plane.
you sighed and took a drink of your water, the cool liquid both foreign and familiar to your dry throat.
out of the corner of your eye you saw movement. you mentally prepare for the worst.
whatâs the worst that could happen? she could get mad⌠cuss you out⌠or worse. be okay with it.
âhey.â she said softly.
âiâm sorry i didnât mean to fall asleep on youâoh my god thatâs so embarrassing. iâm sorry is there anything i can do to make it up to you?â you rambled.
paige chuckled lightly and shook her head.
âdonât worry bout it. everyone needs sleep I understand.â
you let out a breath of relief and give her a shy smile.
âhey, uh do you know if weâre landing soon? canât wait to get home.â paige looked around for a flight attendent.
âyeah the lady said about 20 minutes like 7 minutes ago so⌠13 now probably.â you replied.
she nodded and started packing up.
âiâve got a game tomorrow so i need to get home and get good rest.â
you hummed in response, not sure what to say after that.
âladies and gentlemen, we are now about to prepare for landing, please put up your trays, fasten your seatbelts and ensure all baggage is tucked in an overhead bin or under the seat in front of you.
it is currently 2:26 pm while the weather is currently sunny with temps of 85 degrees. please as we prepare for landing that we remain seated until we reach the gate. we hope you enjoyed flying with us and we hope youâll fly with us again soon. welcome to dallas.â
your head snaps to paige with a confused expression. sheâs calmly pushing her bag under the seat in front of her and only looks at you when she feels your eyes on her.
âhey.â she laughs nervously.
âdallas?â
âuh yeah? that is the flight you booked.â she jokes.
âyeah a flight that was also supposed to stop in indiana.â
âyeah it didâoh.â realisation dawns upon her as she realises you were supposed to get off hours ago.
you started panicking. âfuck, i donât.. i dont know what iâm gonna do i didnt plan for this. i was supposed to get home and relax.â you rambled.
âitâs gonna be alright, maybe you can book a hotel room until you can find a flight home.â
you shook your head. âhotels are mostly booked because of sporting events happening. read something about it online. â you put your head down and stare at your folded hands.
âmaybe you can see if theres a flight out to indiana.â
you perk your head up. waving a flight attendant over, you ask him: âare there any other flights to indianapolis tonight?â
he shakes his head. âiâm sorry but this connecting flight is the only one today. the next one will be on wednesday.â he gives you a look of sympathy as you slump in your seat.
paige stays silent for a moment. âwhat if you stayed with me for a couple days and I can help you find a flight home?â she asks.
your head snaps to her. âwhat kind of stranger does that?â you ask.
âweâre not strangers.â paige argues.
âwhat are we then?â you ask.
âfriends.â
you laugh. âacquaintances at most.â
âspell acquaintances.â paige smirks.
âa c q u a i-â
âOKAY. OKAY. but no seriously we friends.â paige shakes her head with a cheeky smile.
âsays who?â
âme.â
you let your lips curve up slightly for a brief moment at her antics.
âfine. friends.â
âso what do you think? check out dallas?â she asks softly.
you think about it, you really do. but seeing no other option you nod and thank her quietly at her kindness.
âyou got any checked bags?â paige asked as you two walked down the long airport halls.
ânope. just the carry on and backpack.â
âoh cool, saves us time, you know?â paige smiles.
you felt a little awkward still accepting a strangerâs offer but you didnât really have much of a choice.
âcome on, my car should be this way.â paige leads you to a secluded elevator past all the bustle and noise.
she holds the elevator door open as you roll your belongings into the dimly lit space. you make sure to hold the door for her as well. as the doors close the soft hum of the machinery fill the quiet space.
paige is staring at you but you look at a dirty promotion poster encased in a plastic frame to avoid her eyes.
you clench your jaw, studying the colour of the lettering and the photo chosen to promote the airline you just flew with.
âso you live in indiana or?â paige asks awkwardly.
âuh yeah. born and raise.â you look at the elevator door now.
âwhy wonât you meet my eyes? is there something on my face?â paige jokes.
you snap your eyes to hers and hastily respond.
âno, i just i have trouble making eye contact with people.â you explain.
âyeah, no. i get it.â she reassures.
the elevator door opens and you let her exit first.
ânah, you can go first.â
you give her a, âyou sure?â look before she nods, holding the door open for you.
âthanks, but you have to let me repay your kindness somehow.â you say, stepping out of the elevator and waiting for her to guide you to her car.
âitâs fine. you donât owe me anything.â
âall deals end in some kind of compensation.â
she just shakes her head and walks off and you follow her.
but as soon as you reach her car, people start coming up to you two.
âpaige! paige! how does it feel to be back in dallas?â
âpaige, who is this with you today?â
âpaige, dallas is 6-13 and youâre set to play the mercury who you defeated last week. what will be the strategy to winning again?â
cameras flashed and people started shoving microphones in your face.
âmaâam? whatâs your name and how are you related to paige bueckers?â
âare you her girlfriend?â
âwill you be coming to paigeâs game?â
âwhat do you do for a living?â
you chuckled nervously, looking at paige.
paige just shook her head and loaded your guysâ stuff into her car as people continued to crowd around you. she guides you to the passenger seat and body blocks you as best as possible.
you hop into her car and she rushes off to the driver seat while you watch her giggle and hiding her face as best as she could.
finally she got inside and closed the door. turning her car on and reversing.
people jumped out of the way still attempting to get her to comment.
âhang on.â paige laughed nervously. finallu she got out of the parking garage and onto the streets of dallas.
you look out the window of paigeâs car, taking in the scenery. it was sunny outside. and it was hot.
âyou live here? itâs like being boiled alive.â you mumble, furrowing your brows.
paige laughed. âyeah when i first got here i thought dallas was the hottest thing here.â
âand?â
âa lot of people said i was the hottest thing, but i know for sure it was the heat.â
you laughed. âyou play basketball right?â
âuhh yeah sorry⌠about all that.â paige mindlessly motions at nothing.
âyou like pro basketball or something?â you joked.
âyeah got drafted this year to the dallas wings. number 1 pick.â paige gloats with a smirk.
you turn and look at her. âwow.â
âyeah you know everyone wants a piece of this.â she flexes one of her arms and you kinda just stare.
âyou hungry?â she asks, putting her arm down.
âuh no not really.â you looked down.
âwe can head to mine, get situated and then figure it out from there?â she asks.
âyeah sure. that works.â you smile at her.
she nods and hand you her phone. âyou can have aux.â
âwow full princess treatment.â you started looking for a song to play.
âi aim to please.â she responds, pulling up to a red light.
