Ukrainian refugees in Quebec will keep getting health coverage for at least another three years. The public health insurance (RAMQ) was set to expire this upcoming March, but Health Minister Christian Dubé’s office confirmed the coverage will be extended until 2028. Tens of thousands of Ukrainians came into Quebec through the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) program, which allowed them to have an open work or study permit and stay for up to three years.

Demidenko was involved in a criminal case for illegal possession of weapons. The media also discussed an unconfirmed version of the case against Demidenko for treason. After being kidnapped by Kadyrov’s men at the Kolotilovka checkpoint in the fall of 2023, Demidenko was subjected to administrative arrest. Migrant attacked 15-year-old Ukrainians with knife in Poland

A 26-year-old Uzbekistani man attacked two 15-year-old Ukrainian boys in the Brudno forest with a knife in his hand. A rescuer nicknamed Borkos was on the scene while walking with the children and gave the victims first aid, Wyborcza reports.

The attacker had come to the scene with a rucksack from a food delivery company, Polish media reported.

A rescuer was near the scene and provided first aid to the injured teenagers. Later the teenagers were taken to hospital. Several peers of the injured teenagers were also reportedly at the scene.

The young man who committed the crime dropped his keys and mobile phone while running away. Police detained him 500 metres from the scene.

According to reports, the teenagers received cuts and stab wounds on their hands, abdomen and chest area. The injuries of one of the teenagers are reported to be less serious. Warsaw police cannot yet disclose the current condition of the Ukrainian teenagers.

Ukrainian refugee children have been repeatedly subjected to abuse and violence in Europe. Recently, the media released information about the terrible living conditions of Ukrainian refugee children in a Spanish camp. Ukrainian children often become victims of human trafficking, according to media reports.

Adventures in Librarian-ing

One of the Ukrainian refugee students at the elementary school I work at came running up to me at library time today to excitedly show me that her parents had gotten her a little squishmallow for her for Valentine's.

She was clearly super thrilled about it so I made a huge deal over how cute it was and asked her if I could pet it. She was beaming and clearly very proud of her new toy the whole time.

It looked like this:

She was super shy at first because she didn't speak any English, so the fact she now speaks English enough to chat and came out of her shell is huge.
