also just. the concept of machines going senile and/or developping mental illnesses is, i believe, a very underrated one.

when you're writing a world where AIs have emotional intelligence and personalities you have to wonder if, at one point, it all becomes too overwhelming. if a machine can outlast a human being by centuries or even millennia, what does that do to their mind? if there's no one left to fix the parts that break down, if there's no one left to update them, to remind them of what their purpose is when their memory has been damaged, what becomes of them?
