“...and then he had the nerve to show up and interrupt my peaceful evening,” you seethed, balling your hands into fists in your lap. There was nothing relaxed about your current position, as you were seated uncomfortably on the very edge of a chair in Collei’s living room.
You were at your best friend’s house, and your mood had been sour for nearly the entire day ever since your encounter with Kunikuzushi yesterday evening. The poor Collei had to deal with your complaints all day long, but all she did was listen to your curses patiently and look at you sympathetically every now and then. She knew everything about the rivalry between you and the male, down to every small detail.
“He’s just so… ugh,” you complained, throwing your hands in the air in frustration. “I don’t know why I always run into him. It’s as if I’ve been cursed ever since I was little or something.”
“Hearthome City isn't that big of a town, you’re kinda bound to run into each other,” Collei pointed out, calling over her shoulder from the kitchen, where she was working on some homemade pokémon snacks.
“Couldn’t he have lived in freaking Snowpoint City?” you sighed, finally leaning back into your seat for your position finally got uncomfortable to deal with. “Or even better, make him move far away from the Sinnoh region. Take his ass all the way to Alola or whatever. I just don’t want him here.”
Your voice got louder as you kept talking, and just thinking of the male got you all worked-up again. Your best friend made a face at you, but you completely missed it, too immersed in your little domain of hatred and frustration. Collei pursed her lips, never quite sure what to do with your small outbursts. She completely understood why you couldn’t stand the guy, for she did not quite like him either, but they didn’t downright share a rivalry so the entire concept of hatred was hard to grasp for the girl. Yet she never really commented on it, never urged you to try to get along because she had no reason to. She simply let you ramble on and on about Kunikuzushi either until you were done or until she had enough. The latter didn’t happen too often, but today was surprisingly a day as such.
“Y/N, can you give this to your pokémon?” she asked when merely a moment of silence between your angry rants emerged. “I want to see if they like it.”
She presented you with a small bowl that contained something brown and mushy. You gave the substance a doubtful look; it didn’t look too tasteful, neither for you nor for a pokémon. Still, you hesitantly took the bowl from her hands and placed it on the coffee table.
“Why don’t you let your pokémon try it?” you asked, though you could already guess the answer.
“They kinda refuse to test my creations at this point,” Collei explained with a small sigh, and for a moment you could perfectly imagine her Leafeon and Skiddo making a disgusted face at yet another failed attempt to make her own recipe for a pokémon snack. You weren’t sure if you could do that to your own pokémon, but your hand flew to your belt anyway.
It was Collei’s dream to create her very own snack line for pokémon, and she spent hours a week in the kitchen simply to achieve that goal. She had been trying for a couple of months already, but so far all her attempts had led to failure. Yet, she didn’t give up, and who were you not to support her in her journey? You were fully confident that she would make it. Some day, at least.
In a flash of red, you took out Lycanroc from his pokéball. Out of all your pokémon, he was the least picky eater and he basically ate anything that was remotely edible. The wolf pokémon looked at you excitedly, wagging his tail as you gently patted his head before taking the bowl from the coffee table.
“Hey buddy, wanna try this?” you cooed, placing it on the floor in front of him.
He sniffed a few times, and you had to stifle a laugh when the furry wolf didn’t look all too confident in taking a bite. He doubtfully looked at you, as if he were saying, do I really have to eat this? You felt a bit bad for your loyal pokémon, who nearly cringed when he took a bite. He bravely gulped down half of the bowl’s content before he stopped. Both you and Collei looked at him expectantly, and your friend heaved out a small sigh when the canine pokémon shook his head.
“Again,” she groaned, crumpling the failed recipe in her hands.
“One day you’ll succeed,” you assured her with an encouraging smile. “Don’t give up, Collei.”
Lycanroc looked like he was about to throw up any minute now, and you quickly transferred him back into his pokéball where he could recover from his… interesting meal. You lightly patted the smooth surface of your pokéball as you put it back on your belt, as a way to apologize to the brave wolf.
“Maybe we can use the remains of this snack to poison Kunikuzushi,” you muttered darkly, eyeing the bowl on the floor. Various master plans started to move around in your mind, mostly revolving around how you could get your rival to eat the mushy substance. He was a lot of things, but being dumb wasn’t one of them. You’d probably have to force-feed it to him and–
“Y/N, you really need to get your mind off him,” Collei stated firmly. “He’s all you ever talk about at this point. Almost as if you have a thing for him, or something like that.”
You snorted, though it lacked any form of humor. You? Have a thing for Kunikuzushi? You wouldn’t, absolutely never, not even when the end of the world was near, not even when you two were the last people on Earth. If you had a choice, you’d steer clear of him completely, but it was as Collei had said earlier; Hearthome City wasn't a massive town and you were bound to run into each other. What a curse. You strongly hated his guts, so why was she suddenly talking about having a thing for him? That was pure nonsense.
“Don’t give me that look,” the girl said sternly. “You know very well that you are lowkey obsessed with the guy. Love him or hate him, it’s both an obsession and the line between those is thin.”
You laughed, again humorlessly. What was she implying here? It made no sense to you in the slightest and you gave her a perplexed look. You didn’t like what she was saying, because there was absolutely no truth in those words. You weren’t obsessed with him, what did she mean by that? All you ever did was try to avoid him, to get him out of your mind and pretend he didn’t exist. Although you were more than ready to dropkick his pathetic ass all the way across the Earth, as long as he landed far, far away from you. Okay, maybe she was right about one thing. You talked about him a lot, but you simply had to complain about him or you’d go crazy. But yeah, his name fell off your lips quite often, you had to admit that.
“I have an idea to distract you a little, I think,” Collei mused, her purple eyes lighting up. “Let’s go outside, Y/N!”
A bit confused about her sudden change of demeanor, you got ready and followed her outside onto the streets of Hearthome City. It was quite warm outside, with the sun shining brightly high up in the sky. Tonight would make another peaceful night, and you were hoping for one that wouldn’t be rudely interrupted by your rival.
Collei dragged you over the pavement excitedly, and judging from the direction she was going and the corners she rounded, you guessed that she was leading you towards the city’s local gym.
“This came to my attention a few days ago, but I completely forgot to ask you,” she told you, her mood suddenly bright and elated. Whatever it was that she was talking about, it clearly sparked her enthusiasm.
You had to admit, your curiosity rose quickly, and by now you were nearly running over the sidewalk as you went to Collei’s destination. It proved to be the gym indeed, and to your surprise there was a small crowd gathered around the entrance. Was there some kind of event going on? You hadn’t heard of such a thing, but maybe your best friend had. The two of you joined the small gathering of people, and your eyes were pulled towards some tall billboards that surrounded the building.
Hearthome Duo Pokémon Tournament, sign up now! they said.
So there really was an event going on, huh? You skimmed over the additional information that told you about the ins and outs of the event. Apparently, the meaning of this event was that trainers from all over the Sinnoh region signed up in duos – with friends or family, for example – and battled their way up the ranks until the two best duos would face each other in the grand finale. It surprised you that Hearthome City would host such an event, but you couldn’t help the smile that crossed your features. Hell yeah, now you were talking!
“Want to sign up together?” Collei asked. “It seems fun.”
“You don’t even have to ask,” you grinned.
It seemed to take ages for the crowd to dissolve a little, and you waited impatiently until it was finally your turn to sign up. You took a pen, writing down your name next to Collei’s neatly. You could already feel a hint of adrenaline pumping through your veins upon the mere thought of the tournament. You loved pokémon battles, and it had been ages since you last battled in a real competition. Now was your chance to prove your worth, to see how good you and your pokémon actually were.
But then a mop of violet hair caught your eyes, and your heartbeat froze over for a moment when you realized that Kunikuzushi was standing next to you. He too was writing his name on a different piece of paper, next to the name that belonged to the only guy you ever saw him get along with, Aether.
As if fate was really cruel, you found each other’s gaze, and the glare in your eyes hardened.
“What are you doing here?” you both asked at the same time, your voices almost growling.
“Don’t tell me you also signed up for the tournament–” you brought out.
“Why else would I be here, dumbass?” Kunikuzushi sneered.
Wasn’t that great? This entire tournament was Collei’s idea to get your mind off him, but now you probably had to fight him at some point. Of course that would work in your favor since you always beat him – though you weren’t sure what Aether and Collei would contribute to the fight, a factor you definitely had to calculate – but you weren’t at all pleased that he could be there. Wasn’t there a single thing you could do without having him interfere? On the other hand, you weren’t really that surprised to find him there. You mentally planted your hand against your face; you should’ve seen this one coming. Was it too late to cross your name out?
“Let’s go, Y/N,” Collei urged, tugging on your arm.
You followed your best friend with aversion, but not without sending another resentful glare in your rival’s direction. He, too, glared back at you as Aether pulled him away from the scene. All eyes were on you, and you could hear the quiet whispers among the crowd. Of course the entire town knew about the rivalry between you and Kunikuzushi, and now you were opponents in an official tournament. Now that was quite a happening. You two just made this tournament a whole lot more interesting. One of you would proceed further up the ranks than the other, which definitely wouldn’t do well to the rivalry you already had.
This situation just got a little more complicated, and Collei’s plan to get him off your mind had backfired – miserably so. Now the male only had more reasons to linger on your mind perpetually.
Great.

Good reveal au, where after learning phantom's identity and realizing the atrocities that the GIW have committed (or alternatively, ethical science au, where they find out the GIW plagarized them), the fenton parents decided to create the 'ultimate ghost-ending weapon' and sell it to the agents.
They go absolutely overboard, describing to the agents in meticulous detail how it evaporates any ghost it hits near-instantly and describing it quite ruthlessly in the blueprints, and soon the GIW have raplaced all their main weapons with the new gun.
Except it doesn't actually kill ghosts. It's the Fenton Bazooka. You know, the one that creates a portable portal to suck the ghost back into the ghost zone? What they actually did was retool it slightly to make it look more grusome than it actually is. They even added a beacon in Phantom's Keep, which all Fenton Bazookas will target when they open a portal, so the ghosts are always delivered to the keep.
From there, Phantom stationed an emergency medical team at the keep to treat the many injured and ragged ghosts that the GIW 'destroyed,' and to explain what just happened.
What they didn't anticipate was that now that the GIW have a mass-produced weapon that they believed would effectively eradicate ghosts, they would go on the offensive. They have a number of cities they've been monitoring but didn't want to get involved in without better tools.
One of those cities is Gotham.
And the Bats are ectocontaminated enough to register as ghosts.
Batman witnessed several of his children get evaporated by green energy weapons within mere moments of each other. He's absolutely gutted. Devastated. They didn’t even stand a chance.
He'll get his revenge, and it's frighteningly easy to track the weapon to private subcontractors. The Doctors Fenton, in Illinois. Their research calls for the genocide of all ghost kind, and apparently, that war started by killing his own children.
His children will not die in vain.
He gets to Amity Park and finds the Engineer's Nightmare of a building that is Fentonworks, but that night, before he can hack through the security and break in, one of the windows opens.
It's one of his kids that he had watched evaporate before his very eyes. They give him a silent signal of one of their identifying security codes and gesture for him to come inside.
Is it a trap? A prank in poor taste? Utterly genuine?
He goes through the window.
All of his dead kids are there, wearing borrowed pajamas and only their dominoes to conceal their identities. Daniel Fenton (son of the Fentons, this is his bedroom, has voiced a few arguments against his parent's views, but still an unknown) is among the crowd of teens and young adults, twirling on an office chair and obnoxiously sipping a capri sun.
"First thing you need to know, Bats," Daniel says after finishing his drink, "is that my parents are absolutely NOT genocidal ectophobic scumbags, and that is the reason why your kids are still alive."

The sun slowly made its way lower and lower down the darkening sky, about to descend beyond the horizon. Tall grass swayed back and forth, rustled gently by the soft breeze that blew over the lush greenfields kissed by the setting sun. Blue hour made its approach, the sky painted in various shades of the prettiest blues and the loveliest purples. A flock of Starly darted around happily, performing their last round through the twilight sky before they would go to sleep on the branches of nearby trees.
A quick glance at your watch informed you that it was around nine pm, and you knew it would turn completely dark soon. But you weren’t planning to go back already; summer nights were your favorite moments to spend outside, with the sultry breeze and the soft warmth that cascaded around you ever so gently, and the pokémon that were still so lively even at this hour. You were often found in the wildlands that surrounded Hearthome City, simply to have some time alone and wind down after a day accompanied by your pokémon.
With your back resting against the bark of a sturdy honey tree, you released a deep sigh. Your pokémon were still energized as if it wasn’t far into the evening, frisky as ever as they darted through the tall grass around you. Sylveon, Plusle and Lycanroc were playing a game that looked a lot like tag, while Rowlet and Pachirisu seemed to be looking for something as they scurried through the strands of lush green. Only Lucario was next to you, observing the rest of your team as they were frolicking around. Everything was so peaceful, the happy sounds of your pokémon, the soft breeze that pulled through the greenfields, and the last rays of sunshine kissing the Earth ever so gently.
Everything was peaceful, except for the guy shouting in the distance.
That guy was Kunikuzushi.
If it would’ve been just a random person training their pokémon, it wouldn’t have bothered you. A lot of people shared the same passion, that of becoming a pokémon master, so there was no reason to get annoyed by others doing the same thing as you loved. But Kunikuzushi wasn’t just someone.
He had the honor of being the only person you really couldn’t stand. Just having him near you was enough to put you off, and it had been like that for as long as you could remember. Your mothers had been friends since forever, and of course they hoped for their children to get along just as well. It was the opposite that happened, though; as soon as the two of you had been old enough to engage in proper interactions, a rivalry had settled between you.
It was a hate-at-first-sight thing that started off small and grew as you got older. In the beginning it was petty; he would steal your cookie and you’d trip him, you’d chase away the wild pokémon the other was trying to catch, he’d stick out his tongue at you and you would throw pecha berries at him as he ran away. Childish but fairly innocent and insignificant. Maybe people hoped that it would go away with the years, but it only became worse. You hated each other still, throwing resentful glares in each other’s direction and shots were fired whenever you two interacted. Sparks flew in all the wrong directions, you were fire and ice and once it settled it never changed. You hated Kunikuzushi, you couldn’t stand him, you wanted him as far away as possible. He was cold and harsh, hostile even in your eyes. His entire attitude set you off.
There had been many attempts to fix things between you, mainly your parents meddling with your rivalry in hopes to dissolve it. They even went as far as giving you a Plusle and a Minun from the same duo, and while the two little pokémon were the best of friends, it didn’t do any good to you and Kunikuzushi. If anything, it only sparked the irritations that lingered between you two, and that feeling lasted until this very day and counting. Now, with those pokémon on your team, you had something that connected you and oh, you both hated it.
After that, your parents basically gave up trying. It was pointless, and they finally seemed to realize so as well. Their children were still fire and ice, and it would remain like that forever. You wanted nothing but to avoid him at all costs, but of course he wouldn’t let you off so easily. No, his goal in life seemed to be to piss you off as much as he could.
So it wasn’t much of a surprise when you found him standing in front of you, looking down upon you with a frown – as if you had done something to offend him, while all you did was try to enjoy an evening of peace with your pokémon.
“What are you doing here?” he asked icily. “Enjoyed the show?”
Another reason why you couldn’t stand him; he could be surprisingly cocky. He had been like that back in the days, but instead of said cockiness disappearing over time it only got worse.
Suppressing the urge to visibly roll your eyes, you slowly pushed yourself off the ground to properly face him. With your height being exactly the same, you knew you wouldn’t tower over him, but everything was better than having him look down on you like that.
“Yeah, it was definitely fun to see how much your pokémon still have to teach you,” you replied, narrowing your eyes at him – okay, you didn’t see anything of his training session but that didn’t matter, you only wanted to taunt him. You added, “very entertaining, to say the least. Would totally watch again.”
“What did you say?” Kunikuzushi hissed, taking a step forward.
“You heard me,” you said, unfazed by his threatening gesture. You didn’t even bother to hide the annoyance in your voice. “I don’t know what on Earth you are doing, but it’s a mess. Seeing you struggle is fun, though. Keep going.”
Before you knew it, his hands held a tight grip on your collar and he pulled you dangerously close to him.
“You wanna go, huh?” he snapped, his violet eyes boring into yours.
You struggled to maintain your balance, and you absolutely hated how your hands landed onto his chest in order to do so. You instantly pushed him away as far as his grip allowed you, only to glare at him viciously. Your poor heart was surging with anger, hammering in your ribcage agitatedly.
But then he suddenly let go of you with a small groan. Still glaring at you, he took a few steps away and you saw Lucario standing there, holding his bone in his paw and a bored expression plastered onto his features. It was clear that he was not amused after witnessing yet another fight between you and Kunikuzushi, but it wasn’t as if you could help it.
“Couldn’t you have hit him a little harder?” you mumbled, straightening your jacket while sending the guy opposite of you another glare. The male merely snorted, but you wasted no time to get back at him. If he thought he could get away with that, he was utterly wrong. At this point, you were too pissed-off to let it slide.
“Pachirisu!” you called out, and the white squirrel instantly abandoned her chase to hop over to you, eyeing Kunikuzushi curiously. Your eyes, too, wandered to the male opposite of you again. “Let’s settle this.”
“You always fall for it, don’t you?” the violet-haired male sneered, his hand reaching to his belt to grab a pokéball.
“I’m just patiently waiting for the day you actually manage to beat me,” you countered, watching how Kunikuzushi walked off, throwing and catching his pokéball in his hand in a manner that made it look like he gave zero fucks about the upcoming battle.
You wondered why he still was so confident, seeing how he never won a battle against you so far. Or was it only a cold indifference that he carried with him? Did he really not care about your battles? Were you the only one who got so worked-up by them? Oh, you truly hated him. You balled your hands into tight fists in determination. Never before have you lost to Kunikuzushi, and tonight wouldn’t be the first time.
In a flash of red light, he released Haunter from his pokéball, and the pokémon showed you a menacing grin. But Pachirisu wasn’t fazed by it in the slightest, clapping her paws against her cheeks to set sparks of lightning flying as she took a battle stance. Unlike your Lucario – who refused to fight Kunikuzushi at this point – your other pokémon weren’t tired of your endless battles yet and took every fight seriously. Pachirisu looked determined, and so were you.
“Pachirisu, use hyper fang!” you shouted, not really caring whether or not your opponent was ready to battle.
The white-and-blue squirrel dashed forward, gaining speed rapidly. Clouds of dust flew up as she went, hiding the pokémon from view for the majority of time. Kunikuzushi’s voice carried over the battlefield and you knew his Haunter dodged the attack.
     “Haunter, double team!” he commanded.
As the dust cleared up, you found Pachirisu surrounded by multiple copies of Haunter, all spinning around the tiny squirrel and performing little jabs here and there. You could see your pokémon faltering in sheer confusion, looking around panic-stricken with hazy eyes as she tried to focus. It was to no avail; Kunikuzushi knew this move always got to your squirrel pokémon.
But you practiced a thing.
“Pachirisu, iron tail, now!” you called.
The tiny pokémon blinked a few times upon hearing your voice, but then she narrowed her eyes as she tried to focus again. Her spiked tail lit up, emitting a pale bluish light before the squirrel spun around rapidly in a dash of blue, successfully getting rid of all the Haunter copies at once. Only one remained, but the real Haunter was ready to strike.
     “Use lick!” Kunikuzushi ordered.
A laugh bubbled up your throat, entertained by his choice of attack. Pachirisu flinched as the purple pokémon’s tongue swiped across her charged-up cheeks, and you felt bad for the little squirrel because God, that had to be so gross, but she used her tiny paw to wipe her cheeks and glowered at the ghost pokémon.
“Lick can’t paralyze electric pokémon, you should know that by now,” you pointed out, but you only cared little for your opponent’s mistake and prepared your next move. You were done with him, done with your night of peace being interrupted like that. It was time for the final blow. “Pachirisu, quick attack!”
You pointed at Haunter, and Pachirisu quickly gained speed as she darted towards her opponent. Particles of dust rose again, obscuring the fight from your view, but you heard a pained groan and you knew the attack hit its target. Haunter was probably down, vulnerable for your final move.
“Finish it off with thunderbolt!” you shouted.
Pachirisu chimed softly, and shortly after bolts of thunder surged through the sandy dust as the pokémon charged up before ultimately releasing the electricity with her tiny roar. Thunder crashed all around the battlefield, zapping through the air and filling it with tension before the bolts plummeted down on what you presumed was Haunter. Silence followed, and you held your breath as the dust slowly cleared. Pachirisu was revealed, panting heavily and her cheeks sprouting lightning subconsciously. Afore her laid Haunter, motionless on the ground. The ghost pokémon had his eyes closed, and for a few seconds both you and Kunikuzushi stared at the two pokémon in the center of the meadow.
     “Fuck,” the violet-haired male cursed.
“How do you still sound so surprised?” you asked. “You never win against me.”
Haunter disappeared in a flash of red light, transferred back into his pokéball. Pachirisu ran towards you excitedly, happy to have won another match for you. You picked her up in your arms, cuddling her against your chest and murmuring to her how well she battled. The tiny squirrel had a few scratches and she was obviously tired, but that seemed to be about it. You pondered, maybe a visit to the local pokémon center would be a good idea, just in case. It would make a good excuse to walk away from the male who stood there scowling at you. Maybe you’d find back a little of the peace he had so rudely interrupted.
“You’re the loser here, Kunikuzushi,” you taunted. “As you always are.”
Maybe it was a little unfair. It wasn’t as if he lost by a long shot; usually your matches were a close call, and there had been many times where he did have the upper hand for the majority of the match. He was a worthy opponent, and you were well aware that you mostly won by sheer luck and the fact that Kunikuzushi chose force over tactic. The only reason you managed to beat him every time was because you always outsmarted him. Were he ever to use tactic over force, he’d probably beat you with ease, you knew that all too well. He just had to play his cards a little smarter, but of course you wouldn’t tell him that. You gladly took this opportunity to downtalk him a little. After all, he’d do the same.
“I lost to a fucking Pachirisu,” the male growled. “I can’t believe it.”
You snickered, rubbing the head of the tiny pokémon in your arms as you were very proud of her.
“Underestimate her all you want,” you simply said. “You should know by now that she’s pretty strong.”
“Whatever,” Kunikuzushi mumbled, looking away with a frown. “I’ll get her down some day. I’ll get you down some day.”
“Yeah, yeah, you’ve been saying that for a while now,” you signed, not believing a word of what he just said. “Anyway, I don’t plan on letting you ruin my night any longer, so I’m heading off. Bye, loser.”
Without looking back at him even once, you walked away from the field. Your pokémon all scurried after you one by one, and each of them betrayed you as they all gave Kunikuzushi a curious look as he stood there, his pokéball still in his hand. Okay, maybe you looked back once, just once, to see how he was doing. It was nearly completely dark now, and only the last auburn streaks in the sky revealed him standing there, barely anything more than a silhouette. But you quickly turned away from him; you didn’t care and you’ve had enough.

It irritates me alot when people say that making medic more compassionate is ''missing the point of his character'' when he is literally shown to be in the comics.... did you miss the part where he showed concern for both sniper and miss pauling's well being in comic 5 and 6.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His actions are a combination of genuine attachment + clinical interest and these things do not cancel out one another. He is always pushing boundaries and going against the grain and i think this is what led to him losing his license in the first place. He felt stifled by the rules imposed on him.
He is shown to be extremely passionate so it makes sense that he would use his endless fascination with medicine as a way to show his affection. He loves his friends so he will find a way to make them borderline indestructible. Malpractice is his love language.

Have you ever been curious about the EnStars MC Anzu, what she does in EnGirls and EnStars, and what information we could gather about her from each story?
For Paradise's 10th Anniversary, I made an "Anzu Story Breakdown doc" where you can read what she does & any info about her in each story🌸⭐️‼️ (twitter post)
(currently doesn't contain EnStars stories, but they are in progress and will be added once they are finished per year)
