I wish people understood that anyone remotely smart does not get news from social media posts. If you're mad at someone posting about their blorbos instead of the news ask yourself why you put random online people that you don't know on the same pedistal as verified journalists and what that says about your susceptibility to propaganda. Most people who harass those who are "being silent" usually ignore the vast majority of other world issues anyway. I say all this as someone who isn't privileged and posts both about my fandoms and politics on my blog.
"If you don't acknowledge inequality and bigotry and suffering in every single moment of your life you're a horrible racist bigot that perpetrates genocide!"
Meanwhile the majority of the time "exposure" is the literal only activism these people are doing. I donate and sign petitions and boycott and I can promise you the literal last thing I want to do when I'm in a server about monsterfucking is wave my moral superiority flag and force people to talk about dead children and mass murder. I'm capable of doing both without having to force them to intertwine.

I think the reason I don't like psychologizing or neurologizing DW is that. Well. There's literally no way in hell for the main premise to fit into "healthy" human behaviour? Like, sure, go ahead, Odysseus hated his wife and country and that's why he cursed himself to travel for 10 years across the Mediterrenean Sea (a less than a year long trip in a rowboat). Kudos on your hot take. Now read through all the articles ever written on the meaning of Scylla and Charybdis.
Like, calling the Doctor's (or the Master's) various traumas just doesn't seem to go anywhere for me? And, just. This is a show where there is no endgame. Yes, each episode and season have one, but if you want the Doctor to stop running (also. please. for the love of Calliope. there's a difference between running as in fleeing and running as in running. this is the character that nearly got themself killed because when confronted with a brand new incomprehensible entity they decided to have a chat with it instead of cowering in the other corner and waiting for rescue like everyone else), then you basically just want the show to end? If you want the Master to complete a redemption or healing arc, you basically want to nullify the character? Oh, but they'll still be campy and fun in the background, so the fuck what? That's thinking aesthetics are the essence, you still want the end of history.
Fifteen IS acting way more "healthier" than the Doctor ever had in NuWho. I've already seen a criticism of "uh he's not autism coded...", and there's literally been the period when they just stayed calmly home, which is, like. where all stories lead if you don't kill off the protagonist, AND HOW THE VAST MAJORITY OF HUMANS WITH ACTUAL PROBLEMS LIVE, that's the whole point of Fourteen? And, low blow, but maybe, just maybe, Ncuti Gatwa knows more about living with a gencoide trauma than USamerican psychology graduates?
Idk, idk, please tell me what I'm getting wrong. I'm serious when I say I want to be criticised and have the holes in my logic pointed out.

Yeesh, I knew she was problematic but this is worse.
trans people on tumblr celebrating an absolutely rabid zionist being elected to congress simply because she is a trans woman and then utterly shouting down anyone who mentions it is incredibly fucking embarassing.
genuinely losing my faith at an exponential rate in a lot of the people on this website which sucks because i thought it was the last bastion of online progressive principles. and now i'm realizing it's kind of just woke reddit.

It’s literally so easy to boycott
My mom was bout to buy a Squishmallow, I informed her why she should not. She immediately put it back and said she will not support genocide and kept on walking.
It’s that simple

The number of confirmed Palestinian political prisoners has exceeded 10,000 from the West Bank and AlQuds, thousands from Gaza, and hundreds from within the lands occupied in 1948. Conditions in Zionist prisons have always been dire and have gotten significantly worse since October 2033.
Among these prisoners, over 300 are women from the occupied West Bank, while the number of women from Gaza abducted by Zionist forces remains unconfirmed.
Many women endure deliberate medical negligence, denial of communication with family and lawyers, unsanitary conditions, and severe violence. This includes psychological torture with solitary confinement, overcrowded cells filled with insects and dirt, and a lack of natural light. Prisoners are subjected to beatings, insults, threats, and sexual harassment and abuse. Strip searches are common, often used as methods of punishment and humiliation.
Despite continuous threats from the Zionist forces against freed prisoners and their families, these Palestinian women, among countless others named and unnamed, have shown immense courage and steadfastness in their choice to share the torture they have endured.
We demand the freedom of all Palestinian political prisoners. FREE THEM ALL!

Please help them, they are so far from their goal, it breaks my heart knowing time is running out and how their family might be in more danger because of it. Anything helps.

gonna get a little mean here, but yes, even progressive christians need to sit down and shut up sometimes. some of you all will be so quick to go "actually, christianity is inherently progressive and bigoted christians aren't real christians" in response to someone calling out issues with your religion. please just listen and ask how you can help. the US has always had a problem with white christians using their religion to justify racism, enslavement, genocide, colonization, etc. and unfortunately, they are very much "real christians" and also very much in power.
tl;dr - @ progressive christians, it doesn't matter how supportive of minorities you are, so long as you're refusing to acknowledge the systemic bigotry and cruelty of your religion.

I went to the Jewish quarter in Toledo today and I really don’t know how to feel. I’m part Sephardi, my ancestors most likely lived here at some point. I went to the Beit Knesset they would have went to, the oldest one in Europe, I think— it’s a museum now. Part of the floor was clearly new, and part of the floor was clearly ancient. I took a picture of the ancient part, the part that my ancestors would have also stepped on. There was a cross right under the two orange windows representing the Ten Commandments that Moshe brought down, and right next to that there were Christian murals of baby angels. It was beautiful, but there was such a tangible sadness to it, deadness, almost, that I couldn’t help feeling uncomfortable. The non Jewish tourists didn’t notice it, and that made me even more uncomfortable
There was a gift shop right next to the Beit Knesset. They were selling menorahs, not chanukias, seven-pronged menorahs— and all I could think of was ‘who is this for? Not for the Jewish tourists who come here, obviously, menorahs are for Beitei Knesset, not for home. Who is this for?’ It felt wrong. Later on, I saw the exact same menorahs in a different shop, a street away. This isn’t Judaica— Judaica isn’t mass produced like that, normally it’s handmade. It’s made with love, with care, it’s made with a Jewish touch. None of the items in this gift shop have a Jewish touch to them. Feeling like I was selling out my people, I bought a couple magen David magnets from there anyway
The Jewish part of Toledo feels… I’m not sure how to say it, but it’s like a remnant. You can tell that there was something before this, but that something is gone, it’s been wiped out. And that something was Jewish. And now it just drifts through this town, like dust, never properly gone but never enough than a vague feeling. And on top of all of that is a thick layer of Catholicism, and the knowledge of the brutality that brought this Jewish cultural centre to decimation
Toledo doesn’t really acknowledge what it did to its Jews. There’s a small square on the wall of a very old house, one that most certainly used to belong to a Jew before, that talks about Shmuel Levi, saying how he would rather have died by torture than become a confessor— they call him Samuel there, though, and I feel kind of stupid for how much I resent that. But that’s it. Instead they’re giving museum tours of the two Beite Knesset that used to exist before they were converted to being churches, and then war rooms, and now attractions. They’re selling Judaica that isn’t Judaica, right next to figures of Yeshu bleeding out on the cross. They’ve got small חי tiles on the corners of the street, but all I can think of is the Jews that were slaughtered in this town by the ancestors of the people who are now living in what were their houses
All I can think of is the pork being sold everywhere, and all the chametz people are eating before the sun sets on the last day of pesach
(sorry for the pretentious poetic language, I’m a writer I can’t help it)
Thank you for sharing this. There is something almost haunting about visiting places that were once Jewish but aren't anymore. I once saw a quote somewhere about how Memory is a sixth sense for Jewish people (I don't remember where I saw it but will try to find it again). Reading this reminded me of that.
I don't have many words of comfort. I actually don't live that far from Toledo. Our shul is tiny, but we have a kosher Torah from the time of the Inquisition. We outlived them.

Okay, this shit has gone way too far
you've probably seen these posts going around
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well I've decided to adress these claims
TW: mentions of harrasment, mentions of the Palestinian genocide, slurs and ableist language
Unfortunately, these are all lies
Angry doesn't even begin to describe how I'm feeling rn
Not only are these people spreading lies and misinformation, they are also setting me and these people up for harassment (some of the blogs mentioned are run by literal MINORS). Not to mention that sone of these blogs (including mine) have NEVER interacted with Nirmal before.
Also it's so funny that Nirmal claims that SHE'S the one being harassed when she's out ther calling people literal SLURS (last time I checked, she called Senja an "r-slured cunt who assumes things'').
On top of this, she spreads misinformation about asks from Palestinians, claiming they're "scams". First of all, how does she even know that they're scams? Second of all, why would Palestinians send these asks just to scam people. I highly doubt victims of the ongoing genocide would beg for money just for ✨funsies✨. Not to mention her overall shitty behaviour.
So there. I really do not appreciate lies being spread about me and my friends. I genuinely hope people see the truth.
(Also PLEASE do not harass any of the blogs mentioned. Just block and move on👍)

@miath3great I just want to explain this once and then it's up to you to decide if you need to change based on it. I think you've misunderstood quite a few things here (unsurprising, considering that from what I see here I feel pretty safe assuming you're not actually from the area at all? Let me know if I'm wrong) based on the evidence and history, and I can explain those as well in another post. But if you're amenable, let's look at your latest assertion (paraphrased below).
"I don't think all Jews/Israelis are bad and should die! I just think that some Jews/Israelis are bad and deserve to die for, among other things, being leaders in their military or living in a place I think they don't have a right to live." Since internal biases can be very ingrained and very hard to see, now let's take that sentence and insert a few other people groups in place of "Jews" or "Israelis". "I don't think all blacks are bad and should die! I just think that some blacks are bad and deserve to die for, among other things, being leaders in their military or living in a place I think they don't have a right to live." "I don't think all Hispanics are bad and should die! I just think that some Hispanics are bad and deserve to die for, among other things, being leaders in their military or living in a place I think they don't have a right to live." "I don't think all Arabs are bad and should die! I just think that some Arabs are bad and deserve to die for, among other things, being leaders in their military or living in a place I think they don't have a right to live." "I don't think all Ukrainians are bad and should die! I just think that some Ukrainians are bad and deserve to die for, among other things, being leaders in their military or living in a place I think they don't have a right to live." "I don't think all Muslims are bad and should die! I just think that some Muslims are bad and deserve to die for, among other things, being leaders in their military or living in a place I think they don't have a right to live." Maybe that makes what you seem to be saying a little clearer? I'd encourage you to think about it and truly examine your own potential inherent biases. Notably, I've just said "deserve to die". I have not covered the horrifying atrocities and attempted atrocities visited by "Palestinians" and Hamas on Israeli civilians, Israeli children, and Israeli soldiers alike, from October 7th and onward daily, as well as decades prior to October 7th (i.e., Ramallah lynching, rockets, Hebron Massacre, Safed, etc.); I've not even covered the atrocities Hamas visits on its own civilians. If I was to be truly accurate to the situation, I'd phrase the sentences in this way: "I don't think all Jews/Israelis are bad and should die! I just think that some Jews/Israelis are bad and deserve to be murdered, raped, mutilated, kidnapped, and tortured for, among other things, being leaders in their military or living in a place I think they don't have a right to live." "I don't think all blacks are bad and should die! I just think that some blacks are bad and deserve to be murdered, raped, mutilated, kidnapped, and tortured for, among other things, being leaders in their military or living in a place I think they don't have a right to live." "I don't think all Hispanics are bad and should die! I just think that some Hispanics are bad and deserve to be murdered, raped, mutilated, kidnapped, and tortured for, among other things, being leaders in their military or living in a place I think they don't have a right to live." "I don't think all Ukrainians are bad and should die! I just think that some Ukrainians are bad and deserve to be murdered, raped, mutilated, kidnapped, and tortured for, among other things, being leaders in their military or living in a place I think they don't have a right to live." "I don't think all Muslims are bad and should die! I just think that some Muslims are bad and deserve to be murdered, raped, mutilated, kidnapped, and tortured for, among other things, being leaders in their military or living in a place I think they don't have a right to live." Some history and current news to follow.
One thing that will never cease to baffle me is how zionists talk about Israels enemies. It’s all talk about „the David Israel vs. the Goliath Arab world“, when that has never been the case. Hamas was using rockets made from plumbing materials that could not be expected to land within a kilometer of their target. Israel has an iron dome system that caught almost all projectiles. In 2017, a Hamas rocket barage got through and killed a few israeli citizens, the retaliatory strike killed as many people as palestinians had killed up to that point combined. They matched the destruction that palestinian resistance had done in decades in one singular strike.
If we go further back to the first war that israel fought, we see an alliance of four states, that was using outdated equipment. As an example, Egypt was fielding the german made Panzer 4 Ausführung F2. This tank was introduced in the first half of WWII. It was long outdated by 1945 and absolutely inadequate. Israel was using french made AMX-13 and M-51 tanks, both far superior in firepower and far more modern.
The war started with a preemptive strike by Israel. Through the betrayal by Jordan, one of the four nations was not able to send any significant amount of troops, down to three that were not able to match Israeli combat power.
During the 2006 war with Lebanon, the weapon that showed the most effect against Israeli and American forces was a cement truck stuffed with fertilizer. It was a weapon that required the death of the user to work.
During the earlier days of the Gaza invasion, the IDF was fielding Merkava 4 tanks, which are among the most modern and capable tanks in the world. The Hamas answer to that? Bags of high explosives attached by hand.
Israel is the definition of a Goliath. They are not bravely defending Judaism against the Arab terror. They’re kicking people while they’re down to crush any thought of resistance. This can never be the face of anyone‘s safety and while I’m not jewish I think it is safe to say that this should never be the picture we have of jewish people.

yeah i think there's a difference between selfshipping with a antihero/ a antagonist/ a morally grey character, ect; and selfshipping with a rapist or a character who attempted imperialism / genocide. and the fact that i and others need to clarify such, is kind of sad.
