TL;DR: Jirai as a derogatory term is more based around ableism, not misogyny, because Jirai Danshi (Landmine Boys) are not treated well by society either and are also often mocked and ridiculed. Jirai as a derogatory term targets mostly Cluster B characteristics, and while women are more prone to "explosive" Cluster B symptoms, men can also develop them.

Men can be explosive too, men don't have a lot of mental health resources in Japan, iirc. Jirai Danshi are discriminated against by women a lot too for being mentally ill and "narcissistic" and "childish." Aka, for having Cluster B characteristics.

I don't think Jirai is a sexism thing, but an ableism thing. Both Jirai Joshi and Jirai Danshi are treated in different and sexist ways, of course, but it's mostly based on ableism regarding them being "explosive" and having personality disorders and addictions, or things like that.

Basically, it's ableism and while it's perfectly okay to say Jirai Joshi and Jirai Danshi experience different forms of sexism, Jirai isn't strictly sexist, it's more ableist, since it's a reclaimed term that was meant to mock mentally ill people. Women just happened to gain the spotlight before, but that doesn't mean men don't experience oppression for being mentally ill.

Look at how mentally ill men are treated in Japan. They're not treated like the status quo, they're treated pretty badly too.

My ideal harvey dent / two face tv show would be about harvey grappling with how shit the justice system is. It would be him arriving at the DA's office as an ADA and realizing he has so much power and he can have it taken away. How the people he must prosecute aren't who he thinks they are and often lie for all sorts of reasons. Lies and framing become king, appearances, appealing to the court, the public. It's about bending the rules, breaking them where they can. How much work it all is anyway, how little resolution there is, how long it takes to get things done. The red tape, the costs, all through the lens of Harvey trying to help people he sees as victims and who may or may not be.

Harvey seeing himself as a hero, him trying to understand others points of view, being bribed to get a desired outcome, harvey realizing corruption is everywhere and he can easily participate in it, he's encouraged to, how perception is everything, how his language and priorities have changed to mitigate that.

Harvey talking to a victim of domestic abuse (just like him), and he promises to help them, (innocent) then Harvey makes his case and uses it in court: "he's crazy and a psychopath, your honor. clearly the victim is Mx. X here." Violent language he uses to refer to himself when he's being 'bad', language his dad used to use, language he now uses on Dent Sr, trying to make sense of why bad ppl do bad things.

By the end, the victim is avoiding Harvey and the abuser's sentence isn't that long (he will return). Harvey 'won', yes. He did all the 'right' things, got the conviction, the support and yet... it's not fair, is it? It looks and feels like failure. And this type of work is propellling him to become the next DA. Maybe more power is good right?

The urge to be 'bad' plagues him with full force, give in to his desires. if there are no rules, what stops me from becoming evil? the rules were made to be broken. you've thought about it, haven't you. It's wrong. it's wrong. I won't give in, I can't be them.

Nightmares, being told Bruce is his key ally in the campaign, Harvey hating seeing Bruce that way but it is true, harvey neglecting his relationships including the one with his gf / fiance gilda, Harvey scaring himself in how entangled he's become with politics and the law more than the justice he swore he wanted to enact. Batman doing his own thing that harvey has little control over, Gordon warning him the cops won't like many things he does and should refrain from them.

It doesn't have to end in Two Face but, anyway, Harvey's own psychological + eldritch horror personal silent hill thing and it's harvey turning into someone else and trying to balance what he does, how he sees himself, and what he wants. I want harvey's backstory being central to his behavior and having his own arc mirroring bruce's except we all know how it eventually ends
