I understand if this initially seems unimportant and nitpicky, but I feel passionate about it. I noticed in your intro you wrote pro-c for harmful paraphilias. I understand what you mean by this, but the concept of a 'harmful paraphilia' contributes to the misunderstanding of what a paraphilia is, which ultimately contributes to stigma against paraphiles. A paraphilia is an attraction, and attractions cannot be harmful. I see this phrasing quite a lot, so I understand if it is simply something that you have picked up somewhere else without giving it much thought, and ultimately you are free to make the final decision on how you word things. I just wanted to bring this up, in case it does benefit you, and by proxy, the community.

sorry, I don't know which ask this is the second part of, but regardless of that, your theory sounds about right to me... I think a lot, if not all, of it is about belonging somewhere, which is an understandable need. BUT there are also so many teens in this "community" - and what does almost every teenager (secretly) dream of? being special. In some way. I was the same and it's normal, but people use the knowledge about this fact to groom teens into their "special" and "super secret" community. I guess it feels like you're part of something bigger, something revolutional. maybe like you're some kind of hero even, and no one can see yet how great you are. it's a scary and very effective tactic and honestly? it might have worked on me too a few years ago.
