A Very Monstrous Kinktober (2024) Day 2 - Handcuffs
Tumblr media
Kinks: Handcuffs
Pairing: M!Reader x M!Orc
Warnings: N/A
Word Count: 1627 words
Kinktober Masterlist
“Where did you even get these?” You have to bend your neck at an awkward angle to look at your own wrists, the fuzzy red cuffs with your name in block letters now holding your hands up and attached to the headboard.
“Etsy.” Bog says, adjusting the restraint so the fuzzy side presses against your wrists. “They're cute, like you.” Bog leans down and kisses your cheek, his other hand now fiddling with the buttons of his shirt. You had only been able to undo two before he had thrown you on the bed, asking if you wanted to try something new tonight.
The tight, white button up is practically bursting at the seams anyways, Bog easily popping each button like a tab on a soda can. Just the hint of his chest, that dark forest green speckled with black chest hair, has you salivating at the mouth. Gods, how’d you get so lucky?
Bog leaves his shirt open and hanging off his shoulders, displaying his pecs and proud belly, before moving onto his belt. The jingle of the buckle being undone is almost pavlovian, your cock twitching and the headboard rattling as you instinctively yank on the handcuffs.
“Naughty boy. Already breaking the rules?” Bog laughs, pulling the belt out of its loops with a flourish. “Good thing I got the extra tough kind.”
“Can’t help it.” You grind up, cock nestled in your tight slacks and between Bog’s legs. “You’re so hot.” You bite your lip as Bog pulls down his fly, revealing your favorite pair of boxer briefs and his sizable bulge. Damn, you think you might be drooling.
“You’re the hot one, babe.” Bog drags a hand down your front, undoing your own buttons with a familiar dexterity. Goosebumps pepper across your neck, breath catching as Bog lingers just below your belly button. “Look at you, all tied up and desperate.” He reaches down and palms your cock, a raspy moan bursting from your mouth.
“O-only for you, baby.”
“Damn right.”
Bog other hand snakes down his stomach and into his briefs, jerking off his already stiff dick underneath the fabric. The one on your crotch squeezes up your shaft, pre-cum pressing a stain into your date-night pants. Bog darts his tongue out between his tusks, eyeing up your chest as it breathes, nice and slow.
The fuzz on your wrists only does so much to prevent any bruising, your arms straining against them as you watch Bog’s hand jerk up and down, languid and slow. He does the same to yours, just pressing against the fabric and rubbing his thumb across your head.
“C-come on, Bog.”
“C-come on what?” Bog leans forward, reveling in your quick submission.
“Let me see-e it.” You whine, the hint of his bulge not enough anymore.
Bog smirks but doesn’t hesitate to whip out his massive cock, already swollen and dark green with blood. A prominent vein runs up the middle, curving to the left with his head. You bite your bottom lip.
“Shit.”
“Yeah, you want this dick?” The hand palming you moved up to your fly, dexterously popping open the button and pulling down the fly. Your hips cant upwards.
“Please.” You whine, eyes still locked on Bog’s member, which bobs under its own weight. White precum beads at the tip, looking disgustingly appetizing. Normally at this point you’d already be deepthroating it, too desperate to not have his cock in one of your holes. But the handcuffs are putting the work in, keeping you right in place.
“Well since you asked so nicely.” Bog stops stroking himself to yank at the hem of your pants, forcing that and your boxers down to your ankles and throwing them to the side. A calloused thumb presses at your hole as Bog reaches for the bottle of lube nearby. Your legs shake and tremble, still fruitlessly pulling your weight, trying to pull him even closer to you. Your ankles try their best to hook around the bend of his knee, but that strong core doesn’t falter under your frantic tugs. He slaps your inner thigh, making you yelp. “Patience, babe. That’s why I had to get the cuffs, cause you're so damn naughty.”
The louver is cold as it drips down your ass cheeks, Bog rubbing into it into that tight ring with his thumb, easily pushing past and down to his knuckle.
“Damn, nice and stretched already. You really are a slut.”
“Just for your dick.” You say, whining as he pulls out his thumb. But the familiar feeling of a cockhead pressed against your asshole is enough to shut you up, biting your bottom lip as Bog lines himself up.
“Aaah, there we go~” Bog sighs as he slowly sinks himself inside you, lube squelching as it spurts up against the intrusion. Your eyes roll back in your head, that thick coke-can dick always making you burn in the best of ways.
It isn’t long before Bog is fully seated inside you, balls nice and snug as he grinds his hips, searching for your prostate. His search is rewarded with another jerk of your hips and a breathy moan, your boner throbbing.
“Right there, huh?” Bog chuckles, rubbing his fingers down the bony joint of your ankle. He gives a small mini-thrust, sparks shooting out behind your eyes.
“Uh-uh.” You nod dumbly, lips darting out to wet your dry lips. The handcuffs dig into your wrists again, body moving to grab Bog by the hips and force him to fuck you faster.
“I like seeing you like this.” Bog pulls out a couple inches before slowly thrusting them back in at a snail's pace. The moment of pressure against your prostate is good, a shock of  electricity moving down your leg, but still not enough. “Desperate, but helpless. All whiny and cute.” Bog reaches up and pats your cheek like he would a dog who just did a basic trick. The way it turns you on indicates that something just awoke in you.
Bog slides out again, almost 3/4ths of the way, and slams a bit harder. You gasp, stomach turning as another shock makes your abdomen clench. Wrapping his hands around both of your ankles, Bog pulls out all the way.
“But I like seeing you go dumb on my cock even more.”
This thrust is leagues faster than others, moving your body halfway up the bed with its force. You choke out another gasp as Bog begins to fuck you with a fervor, gone with the teasing strokes of before. Using your own legs as leverage he fucks into you like a cheap sex toy, cock battering your insides as his balls slam against your backside.
The handcuffs shake and shudder as your moved up and down, arms now limp and no longer fighting as you receive a proper fucking. Bog isn’t even giving you time to backchat, mind quickly going numb from the constant assault on your sensitive spot,
“O-oh, fuck!” You sigh as Bog moves a hand down to your thigh and pushes your lower half upward, forcing you to bend in half and his dick to go even deeper inside of you. The room is beginning to spin, your ability for rational thought departing as your nervous system is overwhelmed. “Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!”
Your two bodies stick together as the room gets hotter and hotter, sweat rolling down Bog’s abdomen and onto yours, forming a pool in the creases of your stomach.
“Not so sassy now, h-huh?” Bog pants out, cheeks flushed a deep green as he humps downward. How his thighs and glutes haven’t given out yet is a testament to his body, all the muscle from hard work and not just for show. Even now his hands barely don’t grip your ankles too tight, core muscles flexing as he keeps himself stable enough to fuck you into oblivion.
The headboard creeks once Bog moves a hand down to your cock, jerking it hard and fast. Sloppily, just as hips and rhythm begin to devolve into a mess of movement.
“I'm gonna cum!” Your voice keens, legs beginning to spasm as the edge gets closer and closer. No care for your neighbors, who no doubt will be filing a noise complaining. If not from them than your downstairs neighbors too, the slamming bed probably shaking the foundations of their walls.
“Cum for me, baby. Cum for Daddy.” Bog says as he cups your balls, thumb pressed right against your perineum for the final finish. His hips never stop, despite the hitch in his voice and the way his legs begin to shake.
“Oh! Oh!”
Light bursts behind your eyelids as you finally reach the peak, cock spasming as cum splatters across your stomach, getting as high as your clavicle. Bog’s finally digs his nails into your ankles as he also cums, filling your ass up with a fresh load, just how you like it. There’s a debaucherous popping noise as he unsheathes his softening cock from you, spurts of his semen dribbling out your asshole and onto the expensive bed sheets.
He’s exhausted, you can tell. Bog’s arms are trembling as reaches up to your handcuffs, struggling to line up the key with the small hole. You laugh as he keeps sliding the key a little too much to the left.
“Was I the one fucked-stupid or you?”
“Shut up, babe.” Bog says with no malice, laughing despite his clear frustration.
From this angle you can see every line of his face, the fine contours where his jaw meets his neck, the pulsing veins from the workout you both just endured.
“I love you.”
Bog looks down, that usual wiry smile on his face.”
“Love ya too, baby.”

the fixed eye
a @zelinktines24 story | rated T | botw | complete
zelink pairing with Impa!POV
Thank you to my amazing beta readers @zeldaelmo and @cooking-with-hailstones. You guys are seriously the best.
[prequel story- desire path] [part 1]
Part 2
For zelinktines 2024 day 26 Prompt – “Dancing, here?” BotW references - Memory #7 and Zelda Diary entry #4.
“Hey Kohga…do you know how to cure a fixed eye?”
“Why? You got one?” Kogha leans forward with his hands fanned together under his chin. He’s close enough that Impa can see the details of his Yiga mask in the early morning light that’s started to bleed into the room. Whoever painted the inverted eye had a shaky hand. His gold earpieces, tethered to the side of his face with the leather straps that secures the mask to his head, are warped slightly, bending forward along his jaw like tusks.
Impa taps her spoon against the small bowl in her hands, “Maybe.”
“What’s it about?”
She thinks about telling him everything. About the King and the festival and the bracelet. It feels like talking about it could be the cure, but she knows people can often mistake comfort for a solution.

Exalted Secret Santa 2024 Journal Post
Note: I'm happy with you to have fun with these characters! They are beloved NPCs from my private Exalted 2e game, so my players will also enjoy whichever one you pick. The only colours I ask you to keep are the skin and hair colours (although if you're doing something with a limited colour palette, that can be cool). I'm open to new outfits, gender swaps, exalted type swaps or putting your own spin on the character, as long as it's still in the same spirit of the character. Please keep it safe for work and not too excessive on the gore - Have fun!
Quiver practices Kyudo, being a relatively young Sidereal (exalted for 20 years) originally from the Blessed Isle with close ties to House Ragara. He prefers to use his burarucratic and linguistic skills most of the time and is a known member of the Convention of Auditors, but is also not afraid to defend himself with his Jade Artifact bow, which he practically carries around everywhere. He is also a seasoned horse rider and has his own horse kept in the stables of Yu Shan.
Violet Quiver
Moodboard: https://pin.it/3GvcBAxnZ
He/They. Chosen of Endings. INTJ personality type. Motivated to remove corruption from Yu Shan and end inefficiency for the benefit of all. Bold yet rational (high valor and temperance), but prone to being judgey, dismissive and a bit tactless (low compassion).
Quiver is around 5' 10", with a thin athletic build. He favours practical attire to anything too flamboyant, but has a fancy outfit for special occasions. His totemic anima is currently undefined, but all of my Sidereal characters encorperate wings in some way.
She/Her. Full Moon. Boar totem. ESTP personality type. Loud, socialable and direct, Joy forms a group with 2 other Lunars (Pretty Boy and Siaka Hunter) who are all known for being party animals inside of the Western Silver Pack. She can be rational, but also implusive - especially when people she loves are in danger, and finds it hard to plan big picture. Joy is more about celebrating the here and now. (High Compassion and Valor, Low Temperance). Her motivation is to protect the people of The West from creatures of darkness.
Joy of the Sea
Moodboard: https://pin.it/5hTSO6MJe
Joy has been exalted under Luna's light for just over 60 years. She is from The West of Creation (The Neck) and has travelled out to visit The North with her friend Siaka Hunter on a few occasions. Out there, she fought death knights and some of the creatures of undeath.
In the West however, the denisens of the Skullstone don't seem as cut and dry - especially when they have such a glorious Solar hero backing them in the form of Moray Darktide. However, Joy hates the fact that the Shadowland seems to be spreading slowly across the islands of The Neck, and will punch any ghost, zombie or death knight who tries to cause any trouble in her neighbourhood.
Joy is 5'9", and even taller in her war form, growing claws and tusks. She is big, but curvy, and more often than not dresses with her midrift out exposing her Lunar tattoos. Joy is a brawler, and uses her Lunar abilities to grow an extra set of arms when she really needs to lay the smack down. Since her war form is so simple, I'm open for more experimentation here, if drawing warforms is your thing.
While her anima is totemic, all of Joy's physical attacks carry with them the sand and the brine. Her feet are covered in a glowing sand (which imprints on her opponents when she makes contact), as ethereal waves of essence dance around her and spray over her opponents when she strikes with her fists, like being submerged by the waves.

Exclusive: The Mighty Nein’s Journey Continues in Critical Role: The Chronicles of Exandria—The Mighty Nein Part Two from Dark Horse
Tumblr media
Critters, rejoice! The long-awaited sequel to 2020’s Critical Role: The Chronicles of Exandria—The Mighty Nein is finally on the horizon, picking up with more art, more lore, and even more incredible journeys for our favorite band of heroes.
The first art book covered a number of arcs from the wildly popular Dungeons & Dragons live-play phenomenon Critical Role‘s second campaign, featuring glimpses of iconic locations like the Happy Fun Ball, unforgettable characters like The Gentleman, and so much more. Critical Role: The Chronicles of Exandria—The Mighty Nein Part Two picks up where the first installment left off, featuring everything from the group’s “adventures in Xhorhas, to encounters with the Kryn and the Bright Queen, to discoveries at the Cinderrest Sanctum and in the belly of a behemoth, all the way to events at the Whitedawn Lagoon and beyond.”
This second book is being published by Dark Horse, longtime collaborator and publisher of other hit Critical Role adventures like Vox Machina Origins and The Mighty Nein Origins, and is being written by Critical Role Lore Keeper Dani Carr in collaboration with Matthew Mercer and the entire Critical Role team. The 304-page, oversized hardcover will feature new lore, its own narrative, and a plethora of art from across the Critter community.
And speaking of which, said narrative will come from the perspective of the Campaign 2/Campaign 3 NPC Iva Deshin, who made her first appearance selling Tusk Love to Laura Bailey’s Jester Lavorre, but was always clear in her desire to be an author. The Mighty Nein Part Two acts as a collection of her notes and mementos of the party.
“I really wanted Iva to go on a genuine emotional arc during this journey and find her voice, but to never lose her spark and her joy for the world she loves—especially the adventurers she adores,” said Carr. “The entire book is a love letter to the Mighty Nein, to Critical Role, and to the cast who have placed such faith and trust in me over the years. Exandria is just as much my home as it is Iva’s, and I can’t wait for Critters to dive in and let Iva help guide them through the incredible art of the Mighty Nein’s adventures.”
The beautiful cover, which you can check out below, is illustrated by Stephanie Pepper.
Tumblr media
Critical Role: The Chronicles of Exandria—The Mighty Nein Part Two is available to preorder now at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, TFAW, and your local comic shop or bookstore, and is slated to release November 26th, 2024 in bookstores and November 27th, 2024 in comic shops for $49.99.

Ambushed
part 2 of 2
Tumblr media
previous - next
Nicco tries to find who or what attacked Arturo last night.
WC: 710 CW: Blood, guns, starvation.
whumptober 2024. day 11. starvation l underground caverns l cannibalism l "just a little more"
Nicco stared at the ground, boar’s blood soaked the earth from the day before. The scene of the crime embossed in the earth before him. Arturo was the expert tracker, not Nicco. The hunter could translate the ground as easily as reading a book.
Cataldo snorted and pawed at the ground behind the aged silver-and-black-haired half-elf, who scratched at his peppered goatee, deep in concentration.
The low light of evening was no help as he attempted his interpretation, sun just beginning to set behind a ceiling of streaking clouds, purple and orange. The whole scene was a mess, gauges in the earth, sand kicked, a sage bush crushed. Obvious signs of a struggle, anyone could see that. One thing did stand out to him though, a single bare footprint.
Very strange.
The sharp shale stones alone were reason enough to wear thick leather boots on the shrubsteppe, the rattlesnakes sealed the deal. Whose foot was this? Certainly not Arturo’s, Nicco had found him with his boots laced tightly as ever.
Past the footprint a dragging blood trail marked the earth like a bold line of ink, leading off the steep side of the hill toward a ravine. Nicco led Cataldo to follow it cautiously. The dry earth became sandstone as they descended into the shadowed creek basin.
At the bottom, Nicco paused to let his fleabitten stallion drink his fill of the flowing water as he scanned the hillside. The path of blood entered the waters and was no more. Cataldo raised his dripping chin from the creek and huffed a sigh.
“I know, buddy.” Nicco sighed too as he scanned the opposite side of the ravine. He stepped closer to his mount, ready to leave, then something caught his eye. A cave, straight across from where the trail went cold.
Nicco rode across the creek, shouldered his rifle, then approached the entrance of the cave on foot.
There it was, the tracks of blood started up again, much fainter now. He stopped at the threshold, rifle at the ready, he let his eyes adjust to the darkness. As his pupils widened he started to make out what he thought was a tall figure, a shadow standing perfectly stil.
Then it was gone. Reflexively, the half-elf raised the hunting rifle as he startled a few steps back.
A rock flew straight at his head, Nicco ducked just in time. Don’t think Elleh would be too pleased to have to take care of two head-wound patients.
“Show yourself.” Nicco aimed the rifle directly at where the rock had been thrown from. A figure slithered forward slowly, on hands and knees. It looked like a woman… a woman with warm-toned gray skin and reddish-orange streaked hair. She stopped and looked up at him, still just barely visible in the darkness. Tusks bordered her lower lip, her face was gaunt, her whole body trembling and thin with nothing but rags to cover her.
Tumblr media
“Who are you?” Nicco gripped the gun.
“Hhhh.” The half-orc woman could have bored holes into the innkeeper with her yellow-eyed gaze alone. “Hhhhungry…”
The voice was unnerving, Nicco took another step back, but lowered the rifle a bit. That was when the woman noticed Cataldo.
“Hhhhungry.”
Nicco followed her gaze. “No. He is not for eating.”
She didn’t seem to hear him as she lunged for the stallion. Nicco pulled the trigger and the bullet twanged off a river rock between his horse and the half-orc. She halted. The well-trained steed noticed the ruckus but did not scare off.
“DO NOT MOVE.” He barked, keeping the muzzle trained on her as he orbited back to Cataldo. While mounting, the rifle’s aim wavered to the ground for just a moment. In that moment another skull-sized rock flew at his head, this time bouncing off his shoulder. Nicco grunted in pain, almost dropping his weapon. He chirped his mount into a gallop as two more rocks followed, narrowly missing them. The two rode up and out of the ravine as fast as they possibly could.
The hoofbeats grew fainter. Rosco screamed. The primal sound exuded from the depths of her chest, she screamed until her lungs squeezed and saliva dripped off her chin, then fell to her knees. She stayed that way for several long moments, then crawled back into the cave.

8) V/H/S BEYOND
Tumblr media
sorry for the delay to both people who read these, i'm having a time
i love the vhs series. even when they're bad, they're fun. there's just something appealing about a series made of horror vignettes where people are genuinely trying. shade thrown at abcs of death right there
beyond's framing narrative was about aliens, and it was easily the least grungy the series has looked. and for the most part, the shorts all kept on theme, which was like, hell yeah, love it. was this one the best? absolutely not. but it was good, and it had one of the most horrifying ideas the series has gone for, so hell yeah!
ABDUCTION/ADDUCTION: this was fun. it was presented as a history channel style show about proof of aliens, and it was fun that they got some real world ufo debunkers to play their part in this. i think it was a little dry, and the payoff, while it matched the energy of some of the series, didn't quite live up to what i was hoping for. still, one of the better framing narratives they've had!
STORK: for the most part, this was what it was. using cop bodycams for the found footage was good, but it felt very videogamey in a boring (to me) way. that said, the payoff was GREAT, and i fucking cackled like a witch at that last shot as the short ended. i'd like to see this as a bigger thing, but then, if only one of the shorts in this collection should be expanded, this one ain't it
DREAM GIRL: love me some bollywood horror. paparazzi are always good horror protags, and the inclusion of a fully filmed bollywood number was cheeky, but it worked. that said, after the reveal, i found myself checking my phone like "is this still happening?" and it never really gripped me again. it was alright!
LIVE AND LET DIVE: second best of the show for sure. skydiving during an alien invasion is fucking phenomenal, and the continuous shot from the plane all the way to the ground was great. i loved this honestly; it wasn't anything more than what it was, but what it was was inventive, unique, and had some absolutely great visuals. incredible work
FUR BABIES: y'all this shit would have been on the bottom of fucking v/h/s viral. it missed the promise it set up at the start, it missed the theme, it had no point, and for what? SPOILERS: i've seen tusk? why would i want to see that but worse?
STOWAWAY: hoooooly shit. hooooooooly shit. i want to see this as a full length movie. i want to see this as a standalone. stowaway is about a woman who desperately wants to film proof of ufos. then she finds one. then i cannot stress enough, we are subjected to one of the most horrifying ideas i can think of. and because it was written by mike flanagan, you KNOW it's got that unsettling eerie sadness that he rolls around in. i don't want to spoil what this is about. i just want everyone to see this
v/h/s beyond is absolutely worth the watch for that last one alone. i mean also for live and let dive, which was great, but goddamn. stowaway. goddamn. fuck

LETTERS FROM AN AMERICAN
January 18, 2024
HEATHER COX RICHARDSON
JAN 19, 2024
This afternoon, Congress passed a new continuing resolution necessary to fund the government past the upcoming deadlines in the previous continuing resolution. Those deadlines were tomorrow (January 19) and February 2. The deadlines in the new measure are March 1 and March 8. This is the third continuing resolution passed in four months as extremist Republicans have refused to fund the government unless they get a wish list of concessions to their ideology.
Today’s vote was no exception. Eighteen Republican senators voted against the measure, while five Republicans did not vote (at least one, Chuck Grassley of Iowa, is ill). All the Democrats voted in favor. The final tally was 77 to 18, with five not voting.
In the House the vote was 314 to 108, with 11 not voting. Republicans were evenly split between supporting government funding and voting against it, threatening to shut down the government. They split 107 to 106. All but two Democrats voted in favor of government funding. (In the past, Jake Auchincloss of Massachusetts and MIke Quigley of Illinois have voted no on a continuing resolution to fund the government in protest that the measure did not include funding for Ukraine.)
This means that, like his predecessor Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), House speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) had to turn to Democrats to keep the government operating. The chair of the extremist House Freedom Caucus, Bob Good (R-VA), told reporters that before the House vote, Freedom Caucus members had tried to get Johnson to add to the measure the terms of their extremist border security bill. Such an addition would have tanked the bill, forcing a government shutdown, and Johnson refused.
“I always tell people back home beware of bipartisanship," Representative Warren Davidson (R-OH) said on the House floor during the debate. “The most bipartisan thing in Washington, D.C., is bankrupting our country, if not financially, morally…. It’s not just the spending, it’s all the terrible policies that are attached to the spending.”
Republican extremists in Congress are also doing the bidding of former president Donald Trump, blocking further aid to Ukraine in its struggle to fight off Russian aggression and standing in the way of a bipartisan immigration reform measure. Aid to Ukraine is widely popular both among the American people and among lawmakers. Immigration reform, which Republicans have demanded but are now opposing, would take away one of Trump’s only talking points before the 2024 election.
A piece today in the Washington Post by European affairs columnist Lee Hockstadter about the difficulties of reestablishing democracy in Poland after eight years under a right-wing leader illuminates this moment in the U.S. Hockstadter’s description of the party of former Polish leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski sounds familiar: the party “jury-rigged systems, rules and institutions to its own partisan advantage, seeding its allies in the courts, prosecutors’ offices, state-owned media and central bank. Kaczynski’s administration erected an intricate legal obstacle course designed to leave the party with a stranglehold on key levers of power even if it were ousted in elections.”
Although voters in Poland last fall reelected former prime minister Donald Tusk to reestablish democracy, his ability to rebuild the democratic and judicial norms torched by his predecessor have been hamstrung by his opponents, who make up an “irreconcilable opposition” and are trying to retain control over Poland through their seizure of key levers of government.
The U.S. was in a similar situation during Reconstruction, when in 1879, former Confederates in the Democratic Party tried to end the government protection of Black rights altogether by refusing to fund the government until the president, Republican Rutherford B. Hayes, withdrew all the U.S. troops from the South (it’s a myth that they left in 1877) and stopped trying to protect Black voting.
At the time, the president and House minority leader James A. Garfield refused to bow to the former Confederates. Five times, Hayes vetoed funding measures that carried the riders former Confederates wanted, writing that the Confederates’ policy was “radical, dangerous, and unconstitutional,” for it would allow a “bare majority” in the House to dictate its terms to the Senate and the President, thus destroying the balance of power in the American government.
In 1879, well aware of the stakes in the fight, newspapers made the case that the government was under assault. American voters listened, the former Confederates backed down, and Garfield somewhat unexpectedly was elected president in 1880 as a man who would champion the idea of the protection of Black rights and the country itself from those who wanted to establish that states were more powerful than the federal government.
Chastened, the leaders of the Democratic Party marginalized former Confederates and turned to northern cities to reestablish the party, beginning the transition to the party that would, fifty years later, usher in the New Deal.

MAMMOTH CARAVAN Perform Single ‘Siege in the Stars’ in The Anvil Sessions
~Doomed & Stoned Debuts~
By Billy Goate
Tumblr media
As the rapid evolution of technology takes its grip on every aspect of our existence, monitoring our lives, tracking our whereabouts, and yes listening to our conversations, MAMMOTH CARAVAN reminds us of a more primitive time, when the essence of survival was scraping by and worrying about the fundamentals of existence. Yet even in the world of the woolly mammoth, strange things can happen.
On a recent episode of The Doomed & Stoned Show, we speculated what a mammoth in outer space would entail, drawing implications from the cryptic name of Italian band UFOMammut.
Now Little Rock, Arkansas trio Brandon Ringo (harsh vox, bass), Robert Warner (clean singing, guitar, synth), and Khetner Howton (drums) answers our questions with the second single from their upcoming record, 'Frostbitten Galaxy' (2024), which sees this Mammoth Caravan heading toward the stars, as is now the ambition of humankind.
Fontman Ringo had this to reveal about the song:
“Siege in the Stars" is the first song that was written for the new album and it was conceived during a time when we had just changed our lineup and had 10 days to create a setlist of new material. Robert came up with the riffs and I started working on lyrics and once Khetner wrote his drums parts, the song became something massive and special. Lyrically the song represents the bloodthirsty mammoth king’s journey through space on his way to achieve his violent quest.
The atmosphere begins with swarthy bass and guitar swirling about like a bowl of incense, perhaps the gaseous precursor to the massive rocket flames that erupt 35 seconds later. "Siege in the Stars" vessel of fury and mad determination, with massive swing and groove 2:01. It's a motif we're happy to see return as the song progresses, this time accompanied by sparks of psychedelic doom guitar emitting from the ship as it jetsons into cold, black space, with massive deep beats that mete out the distance along the way.
Mammathus clan overtakes mars Now we must fly Martians will die Empires of rust Driven to dust Nothing can stop this siege in the stars
"Siege in the Stars" was captured live for The Anvil Sessions by Holy Anvil Recording Co. in Fayetteville and broadcast by KUAF 91.3, showing us that the band can absolutely deliver on their sound. In an age of AI fakes and phonies, Mammoth Caravan is the real deal.
Look for Mammoth Caravan's 'Frostbitten Galaxy' (2024) emerges October 4th on Blade Setter Records on vinyl, CD, cassette, and digital formats (pre-order here). It's a formidable sound and a must for your next playlist with High on Fire, Forming the Void, Ape Vermin, and Black Tusk.

I'm inconsistent in terms of reflecting on my writing habits, but after such a difficult year, I felt as though it was time. I've been surprised at how much exhaustion, burnout, and war has sapped my creativity and my ability to write, even though it makes total sense. I've been trying to be patient with myself anyway. In accounting for these last couple days of 2023, I've also been trying to appreciate the writing that I did accomplish in the last year.
Regrets
I really had hoped to finish posting the Tusk Love sequel this year, and alas that has not borne fruit, although I am still chugging along on revisions! Hurrah! It's somewhat disheartening, though, when the majority of it was written in February 2022, literally right up until the day the full-scale invasion began. I'm still stuck in the middle of edits for the next chapter - I last opened it in the Dublin airport three weeks ago, and I've been occupied since - but I am hoping to get that out soon. I do have faith I will finish this story…but I don't know how long it will take me.
I still have hopes to eventually finish and post the consecution fic that I also worked so hard on last year. A lot of the story has been jossed by campaign 3 canon (Ludinus is a main character) and I haven't really had the energy to retool it to fit current canon OR make the decision to just release it as-is. The truth of the matter is that I have had much more brain space for writing this year than for editing and making critical decisions about structure/plot/etc. In many ways, those are the things that I need to be able to post things to AO3, and it has meant a serious backlog.
I also struggled to stick to a steady writing routine this year, in part because my life itself was not routine. I traveled frequently and had an unpredictable work schedule. There were also just the very, very bad days that happen sometimes when your beloved former home is going through a calamity. It was so hard to work through that, and to WRITE through that, that many days I just didn't try.
Victories
Despite all these obstacles, I somehow still wrote nearly 85,000 words this year! I'm trying to celebrate those as a victory rather than seeing that number as a defeat. It's a significant decrease from the last two years (2021 I wrote 280,000 and 2022 I wrote 336,000) but it's still 85,000 more words than I used to write before I started my steady writing habit in 2021. That's the equivalent of a whole novel! And I kept up my writing from January to December, even if there were months I fell off completely!
The real thing to celebrate here is the perseverance - when writing got immensely hard, I didn't stop writing. I'm so, so proud of myself for that.
Looking Forward
So what will 2024 bring? If today is any indication, probably more of the same burnout and low word count production. I will continue to update 2 Tusk 2 Love, but likely updates will be just as slow as they were this year. I'm hoping to be able to publish my consecution fic, but I don't know if I will get the energy to do that, and it's still stuck at 50% complete (as opposed to Tusk Love, which is at 90% and just mostly needs rewrites). But these things are hard to predict. If an idea catches me, if suddenly I hyperfocus on writing again, if I get captured by a story once more - that could change.
May 2024 bring us all many things. May it bring us a not-terrible election in the United States. May it bring us victory and peace in Ukraine. May it bring us an end to war and genocide all over the world, especially in Gaza. May it bring us health and prosperity and freedom from the scourge that is covid. And may it bring us all inspiration and creativity for a brilliant future.
