Speaking of name changes on social media, I should remind everyone that my handle on Instagram is now dominiqueramseyart while my handle here on Tumblr is " euqinim0dart ".

Reason for all the name changes is because teachers from college kept telling me that no one would remember my account because euqinimodart is difficult to pronounce (it is).

This freaked me out, so I went through and re-named all the accounts that I found fitting. Little did I know that it would throw so many people off track with finding my work! Art school teachers fucking me over once again.

I know you like your screen time but please remember that the world isn't all like that okay? Help With Publishing And Networking

i've been working on writing up a post for my main project fanbase to let them know what the plan is for my return to Time Gate and what I wanna do going forward in 2024

it was a whole ass essay as most of my posts are

but honestly i think a lot of my feelings can simply be summed up as:

It’s honestly such bullshit that social media is still an expectation/a necessity to platform artists and writers when social media is actively in decay.

People are leaving tumblr in droves/have already left; Twitter is nothing but bots and fascists; instagram is nothing but fascists and censorship; TikTok is on the precipice of being banned, and its algorithm is pushing people who have shops in their bio to the front while also ignoring organic content creators; and Facebook has long been abandoned to boomers.

I want to find community and share my work but that just seems every day to be less and less likely. And yet for any sort of success, artists and writers alike need to still use these useless apps for traditional systems to see them/validate their “worth” for investment. I’m tired, man.

Does anyone else just feel exhausted?

note to self: you do not like social media

this was my final post on my (short-lived) art insta. i just can't with that fucking app. as a high masking autistic person, video/image-based apps like instagram and tiktok just reinforce that whole "Life Is A Constant Performance" thing that already consumes every moment of my waking life. (for me, personally. obvs if you find value in social media, do what u want forever, ily, live ur best life.)

i recognize that many artists (and particularly marginalized creators) often have to use social media to grow their business and increase their chances of earning income. and, as someone with friends and family spread all around the world, it can be the best way to keep in touch with people i care about. but being active, especially as an artist, on any "social" app (besides tumblr... if you can call tumblr a social app) is just not a tradeoff that i can personally sustain.

so,, if i make art i feel is worth sharing, it'll be here from now on. and, y'know, redbubble. because i'm a brokeass bitch. (wanna buy a sticker to support a queer/trans/AuDHD artist? [see all my sticker designs here!])
