Finally finished chapter 3.

Live action DC shows and movies have done the same thing to the justice league as they did to the teen titans

like they’ve shown one version of the justice league (the trinity, flash, cyborg, and aquaman) and taken that as gospel rather than looking into other fun league members

Animated shows like Justice League (to an extent) and Justice League unlimited are amazing in the fact that they include other members, people like hawkgirl, john stewart, and martian manhunter who a lot of people don’t know (in the fact that if i asked someone who didn’t read comics they probably couldn’t tell me anything about the characters)

The live action Justice Leage in particular does a good job of making out that they are the founding JL members (they. are not. that would be the trinity, flash (barry allen), gl (hal jordan in most continuations), and martian manhunter)

Swapping out Hal and J’onn for Vic and Arthur is so annoying to me because you’ve got 2/3 of your Spaceboys™️ and replaced them with a badly developed Aquaman, and Cyborg who most of your target audience know and are familiar with as a Teen Titan

Honestly every single movie with Hal and Barry has disrespected them so heavy and treated them as comic relief (most notably the Flash and the DCAMU as a whole) but to leave out all GLs as a whole is insane (rip guy gardner, gone AND forgotten)

And with the Teen Titans, they!ve done the exact same thing

People ignore the fab five (robin, speedy, aqualad, wondergirl, and kid flash) in preference of the overused and overmarketed tt/ttg 5 (robin, beast boy, cyborg, starfire, and raven)

People have been asking and asking for literally any fab five content, especially with more teen titans media in the works, but instead they go the route of the popular, marketable characters

I’m not sure if its because non comic readers don’t know the fab five, or if its because they’re not all perfect people, or whatever, but its a massive fuck you to actual comic readers

The fab five are such big parts of so many teen titans development, and though they are so very briefly mentioned in the Titans show i don’t even think that counts because it was. uhm. (and also no wally or roy + garth was blonde and died so BOOO)

I think personally a fab five tt show, with other ntt + future tt/titans members as side characters or just cameos would be such a cool way to go about it, or even a show based fully around New Teen Titans or Titans would be a way to diverge from the tt we all know and (kinda) love

anyways i’ve been yapping so im gonna stop here and let y’all tell me what you think

its pretty interesting how obvious it is which relationships the ttg writers prefer lmao. obviously the bbrae love in the writers room is real. the bbterra hate is strong. the terra hate in general is strong. nobody likes dickkory - though their relation with dickbabs is still unclear. and all of them forgot about kid flash in favor of putting jinx with cyborg and tbh thats the only decision here i respect

If this is the first one you've seen - I'm making a crossover of DC comics and Danganronpa by assigning the characters a vigilante that I think suits them

The Teen Titans/Outlaws using sdr2 characters

Robin - Hajime Hinata

I'm using the second robin instead of the first because Hajime fits better with these characters! I explained Hajime being Jason in part 1 if you missed that

Starfire - Chiaki Nanami

- mostly just seen as a love interest to one of the robins/protags

- not great at social ques

- I kinda needed her to be star because the other outlaws in this are Nagito and Hajime so no one else would've felt right

Raven - Sonia Nevermind

- A (occasionally evil) princess being the daughter of an overlord felt right to me

- Both occult fans

- Dating an extreme animal lover

Beast Boy - Gundham Tanaka

- Animal Boy

- This is the only thing that feels right for either of them

- Dating occult-y princess

- Often speaks in a way used for comic relief

Cyborg - Kazuichi Souda

- mechanics, very skilled with robotics

- often shipped with animal boy (at least in ttg and the og tt cartoon)

Arsenal - Nagito Komaeda

Not really a teen titan (usually) but I didn't see the point in making another part for the outlaws bc they're all here already

- Mildly explosive at times (Nagito with the bomb and unless I'm misremembering Roy also had explosive arrows?)

- Pretty okay with murder, surprising his friends

- I'm not sure how to explain this one but it feels so right to me

Edit: Kid Flash - ?

So he's Robin 1's best friend but does makoto really have one? Kyoko's already Oracle and Byakuya rlly doesn't fit KF

Aoi is a really fast swimmer and her and KF are pretty upbeat characters so maybe her? Lmk what you think because I have no idea

Donna was also in the Teen Titans cartoon. Well she made a brief cameo anyway but she apparently had a spotlight in the tie-in comic. I think she was in TTG! Too? Either way always a bummer she wasn't in the show I know Donna's major plots from the NTT was her relationship with Terry Long but they could've done more with her & exposed to a wider audience, (we'd have to wait until the DC Nation shorts for people to get an ioda of the good Ms. Troy)

I have to imagine Donna's uber-convoluted backstory may have also hindered her involvement in the originalTeen Titans cartoon. But I agree that it was shame she didn't get an episode the same way Kid Flash did. She was the only main Titan not to get an appearance in the series.
