i don't know if i could make a good tutorial so what i can say is that references are ur BESTEST friend— via pinterest or just any image search engine

i do have these below as examples of how i draw locs, if that's anything.. ^_^ it's best to think of them as simple shapes, and then just adding more details and textures from there

#keese draws #eternal gales #oc #oc art #isat #in stars and time #this one didn’t take nearly as long as the aris one but I think I suffered for it more from the clothes alone #siffrin made me forget I suck at drawing clothes rip #this was also harder because of how much trickier it was to try and adapt siers design to feel fitting enough for my standards #they have a very stylized design compared to most of the others #I kind of took the lazy route out by keeping most of their original shapes in tact but it’s fine #sier in this au would serve the needed role of emotionally intelligent bestie who is also too scared to cross boundaries to do much #but despite this I do think they’d actually get the suspicion quest in this au #mostly because mase is a furry artist not a nerd and sier would be more likely to look at aris and go bro. are you in a fucking timeloop.#it also differs in that aris doesn’t yell at sier abt it instead looping before they can finish because she can’t handle hearing them be #right on the money about this thing that she thought she was handling perfectly #she doesn’t want to fail them she doesn’t want them to realize she’s failed them she doesn’t want to be a burden she doesn’t want them to #‘realize’ they’re better off without her #aris is Incredibly resistant to accepting help on most serious issues because shes convinced that it’s her responsibility to deal with it #by herself and that if she can’t then she’s a failure and worse than useless #I mean in canon eternal gales she literally loses her eye and arm because of that #in this au she just lost them how sif lost his eye but she still has. complexes abt all that.#but yeah sier also differs wildly from isa in many Many other ways as does the rest of the cast from their assigned characters #for sier they rly aren’t the jock of the group at all instead being more of the guy who keeps the mood lighthearted at all times lest they #die of stress because the others haven’t said anything in a whole 30 seconds #aka they’re the self assigned peacekeeper who doesn’t actually need to constantly keep the peace because no one’s fighting but they still #feel like they need to so they dance and dance and dance for their friends until they collapse from exhaustion #metaphorically ofc #this is why they’re both terrified to confront aris when she starts acting a bit fucked up but also why they still do sometimes anyways #they talk abt this a lil bit in their friend quest as they talk abt how they want to change but are scared to

i dooon't like the 3d cell shaded look they gave Shadow tho. i dooont like it. want the frontiers prologue back

#theres just something waird going on with the frame rate and the smoothness of all his movements #this happens every time they try to disguise 3d animation for 2d and it always looks weird #especially here? cause for some reason other characters don't seem to be animated this way?#they could still be since these are mostly small shots of them so they could've been hand drawn just for the sake of emoting better and stu #emerl will probs be 3d animated as well we just didn't see much of him #im bitching about this as if one of my favorite animes of all time wasn't 3d stylized for 2d #but at least i didn't feel like they were lying to me about it yanno #well im being dramatic but i hope you understand what you mean i was really hoping for a 2d animated short like the frontiers prologue #the animation in that has its bad moments but like. i can forgive it cause its beautiful and its knuckles

Drank a red bull in an attempt to hype myself up to finish my current drawing but then decided I didn't want to, so now I'm caffeinated at 5 am for no reason 😭

i know i was just complaining about stylizing loop's body but i figured that out and moved on and it turns out the head is so much harder 😭 i'm very happy with canon loop head and post-bodycraft loop head but the in-between phase is kicking my ASS and i can't just half-ass it bc figuring out the in-between head is the ENTIRE POINT of this WHOLE PROJECT....

i think part of the problem might be that unlike with the body, i do have an extremely clear idea of what is happening with the head physically and how it would look irl, it's just. a very difficult thing to draw. so i keep rejecting ideas that look good bc they're not my actual headcanon, but then also rejecting attempts to faithfully depict the headcanon bc they don't look good. head in my hands

#i set the tablet down for the night on a sketch that looks good but #most of my other sketches have also looked good :/ then i line them and it's not right at all #sigh #it might be easier if i changed how i draw the canon head but. j don't want to i like it....#maybe just worry less abt being an in-between phase and more do something entirely unique?#and then theoretically there's phases between all three points #like using pink to blend yellow and purple instead of blending directly....#that's so much going on though 😭#idk hopefully that last sketch i did will work 😭😭#this has been a fun process tho #i don't usually iterate this much with anything except clothes #so it's cool to hammer away at a hard problem #and push myself to stylize in different ways #without feeling like i've ruined an entire illustration if the experiment fails #and i've figured out some cool techniques that might be fun to use in other places to give illustrations a particular vibe!#i'm just so invested in getting this head right tho that i'm like AHHHHHHH #😤😤😤#silverstarschat #ugh on third thought maybe the canon head rly is my issue #it looks cool but it's not rly faithfully depicting my headcanon is it #so ofc any attempt to draw smth sorta like it won't match my headcanons either #OH I JUSF HAD AN IDEA #FUCK #I WANNA TRY IT SO BAD BUT I ALREADY TOOK MY CONTACTS OUT #AHHH I GOTTA faLL ASLEEP SO I CAN WAKE UP AND DRAW IT!!!!#ooohhhhh this is gonna be so good #crossing my goddamn fingers it works out #!!!!!!!

#First Fifteen episode. Came and went. Nothing in particular to note.#I really like fifteen s/kk they're my favourite s/kk. I also really like Fifteen Dazai I find him very likeable and endearing #There's something exceptionally soft about Fifteen s/kk. About the constant reminder of how young they are #I think there's just this very sweet feeling of two people who... Aren't really made to get along‚ but kids WILL be kids.#And it's exceptionally cute to see. Yes they come from different side yes they have clashing personalities but kids will have fun together.#Will mock each other and try to compensate their insecurities with overconfidence and get hang up on silly matters #And it's really so tender!!! It's nice to see them this way.#I think at the end of the day the author did a very good job at portraying that– how young they really are‚ without falling it the trap of–#“making them act adult because they had to grow up too soon”. They *had* to grow up too soon. But they're still kids.#I derail but back to the actual episode /really/ nothing much noteworthy. The animation got a terrible downgrade from the previous–#season and Dead Apple‚ but I suppose it could be worse? There's even a noticeable worsening in the quality of the backgrounds;#they just... Lack all the meticulous details they used to. There's still some occasional animation highlights in the chibi stylized moments #which I find particularly enjoyable.#And that's about it. If I find time for it I'd like to make time to catch up with the manga these days... For now off to the next episode!!#random rambles #Ah‚ that said: Bones' job at rendering kids is quite‚ uhm... Ineffective.#And I've never been a huge fan of Chuuya's va (really just a matter of personal preference)‚ but here they sound even more out of place...

But I'm still proud of myself!#Faruzan has honestly one of my favorite backstories ever #It's so simple yet awful #It was a normal day. She was exploring some ruins in the desert like she had done many times before because she's a professional.#And she just made one simple small basic mistake and it ruined her life #Do you think she was calm at first? Do you think she thought it would just take a couple hours. Maybe a day?#Or that someone outside would come to help her out?#When do you think she realized it would take so much more then just a day for her to get out?#When do you think she excepted that she would die before getting out?#And how do you think she felt when she found out she wouldn't?#Was she hopeful? And how long did it take for that hope to turn to dread as she realized she couldn't even escape through death?#Do you think she ever gave up on trying to solve her way out?#Do you think the walls have marks on them from when she tried to claw her way out with desperate bloody fingers?#Do you think that empty old domain still echos with the sound of her screams?#I have so many thoughts about faruzan and her time alone in that domain #I really need to play her hangout quest

#drawing botw era characters is so funny majority of my canvas is references and it still doesnt feel like enough #thats when i get to the point where i just make stuff up #which i do regardless but you know.#the other day i was trying to think of designs (in general) that i wouldnt change a thing about if i drew them and it was very hard because #its like really hard to get myself to not change alteast one thing up. im simply a guy who likes putting a twist on designs when i draw #fanarts. its part of why its fun to draw me thinks #another avenue of that is its fun to tackle more complicated designs and figure out a way to simplify and stylize it while still keeping it #recognizable/and finding ways to imply detail #another thing about drawing characters in general is i cannot for the life of me draw a character looking the exact same every time.#sure i have specific details i like to explore more if im drawing a character multiple times and have a vision but i do really like just #doing whatever the hell ever #my jovial soul.
