Discover the Joy of Travel: A Journey Awaits
Tumblr media
Travel is one of life's most enriching experiences, offering a unique blend of adventure, learning, and relaxation. Whether you're wandering through ancient cities, trekking in the mountains, or lounging on a pristine beach, each journey is a chance to explore new cultures, taste different cuisines, and create unforgettable memories.
Planning Your Adventure
The first step to a successful tour is thoughtful planning. Consider your interests: are you a history buff, an adventure seeker, or someone looking to unwind? Research destinations that resonate with you. For example, history enthusiasts might find joy in exploring the ruins of Rome, while nature lovers might prefer the breathtaking landscapes of New Zealand.
Once you've chosen a destination, think about the time of year you want to visit. Seasons can dramatically change the atmosphere and activities available. Research local festivals and events to enhance your experience. For instance, visiting Japan during cherry blossom season can be a breathtaking experience, as the landscape transforms into a sea of pink.
The Travel Experience
When it comes to the actual travel experience, consider various modes of transportation. Trains, buses, and even bicycles can provide unique perspectives on a destination. For instance, the scenic trains in Switzerland offer stunning views of the Alps, while cycling through Amsterdam allows you to immerse yourself in the city's charm at your own pace.
Once you arrive, engage with the locals. This is often the most rewarding aspect of travel. Strike up conversations in cafés, visit local markets, and don’t hesitate to ask for recommendations. Locals can offer insights that you won’t find in guidebooks, from hidden gems to the best dining spots.
Embracing New Cultures
Travel is a wonderful opportunity to embrace new cultures. Dive into local traditions and customs; this might mean participating in a cooking class, joining a traditional dance, or attending a local festival. Such experiences not only enrich your trip but also foster a deeper understanding of the world.
Culinary exploration is another highlight of travel. Every region has its unique flavors and dishes. Be adventurous with your palate—try street food, indulge in regional specialties, and visit local eateries. Each meal can tell a story, providing insight into the culture and history of the area.
Sustainable Travel
As we explore the world, it’s essential to do so responsibly. Sustainable travel practices help preserve the destinations we cherish. Consider supporting local businesses, reducing plastic usage, and minimizing your carbon footprint. Opt for eco-friendly accommodations and participate in conservation activities. Not only does this benefit the environment, but it also enriches your travel experience by connecting you with like-minded individuals.
Creating Lasting Memories
Finally, don’t forget to document your journey. Keep a travel journal, capture photographs, or create a blog. Sharing your experiences can inspire others and help you remember the details of your adventures long after they’ve ended.
In conclusion, travel is not just about the destinations; it's about the experiences and connections we make along the way. Each trip is a chance to step outside your comfort zone, expand your horizons, and discover the beauty of our diverse world. So pack your bags, open your mind, and let the adventure begin!

Chapter 3/3
Shauna Shipman is living a nightmare: being haunted by her best friend has become her new normal. Of course, that friend...normally isn't corporeal. Or breathing. Or very much alive.
Chapter 1 Chapter 2
Shauna Shipman awakes in a nightmare.
This in and of itself is not special. She’s been having the same nightmare for twenty-odd years. A nightmare rooted in suburbia, in homebody boredom and maternal expectations. A nightmare where her closest friend is Taissa Turner, a woman she sees so infrequently, she sometimes wonders if Tai is even there at all. A nightmare where her second closest friend is the vision of the girl she fucked over so thoroughly as a teenager, that girl actually died of the trauma.
Not what happened, Shauna, she thinks, as she always does, but it never matters. She knows what happened. She loved Jackie, and she betrayed Jackie, and she was too stubborn to fix what was broken between them. And now Jackie is dead.

My toxic trait is that I think just because the last year was difficult I deserve to just pack my things and backpack around Europe as soon as I handed in my thesis

okay I just did my schedule for the holidays. maybe I'll try to avoid six weeks of night in the future but I can't do anything about that for now. anyway the scheduler in the email was like PLEASE put yourself in an empty slot before putting yourself in as the second person!! and I'm the very last person putting in my schedule bc it's not my turn to pick first so that's happening quite a lot for me rn but I can't always do the cool thing and put myself in the empty slot because it would fuck up the OTHER strict requirements of my position i.e. that we work half days and nights, unless I want to start flip-flopping from week to week which I am absolutely the fuck not doing lmao

UGH.
#went on my first real work trip in FOUR YEARS yesterday. had one meeting.#woke up this morning and was getting ready for a day of stuff with another one tomorrow#only to find out that one of the only five other people in the wednesday meeting just tested positive for covid#and another had found out she'd been separately exposed as well#so today turned into doing all my meetings on zoom and rearranging travel plans#and now instead of a professional thing i'd been really looking forward to and then a fun weekend add-on with the fam#i'm flying home late tonight to isolate in our third-floor guest room while boyfriend parents etc.#at least we got credit for his and bébé's last-minute flight cancellations#and we decided to leave the dog with the sitter that had already been arranged to just have one less thing on the collective plate for now#but UGH#and what's extra infuriating is that i am probably fine. i got boosted just a few weeks ago and wasn't like hugging anyone or whatever.#but you just don't know and when there's an actual case it's reason to be actually careful#and i'm just so exhausted and bummed about a lot of things already and had so been looking forward to this whole trip#best laid plans#as they say#anyway cross your fingers for me and the battery of rapid tests i'll be taking this weekend#and in addition to staying negative i'm also very concerned about whether anyone will be comfortable will me at thanksgiving#so that's a whole other thing#UGHHHHHHH#fucking#coronavirus
