Hey!!
I just wanted to tell you I think it’s so cool how you continue to play hockey even if it’s a beer league! I mean I don’t know what good adult leagues there are when you’re older really 😅
I miss playing hockey so much and I always just figured it would be impossible to get taken seriously by judgmental fucks. I love that you make history even though you’re just yourself. I do sort of despise some of the things I’ve heard in the locker room too tbh.
It’s so amazing to see you gear up and get sweaty. It makes me some how feel seen too and I feel like I need to just figure it out lol. I know your kicking ass out there (cus I saw u posted ur stats) lol 💜 hope you have a good rest of your weekend 💜
Thank you! Yea posting about me playing wasn’t something i was really going to do. But everyone here seems to love that content and they continue to ask for it. So I’m going to keep posting it. I don’t think I’m anything special or making history. I’m just a girl that wants to play hockey. That’s it. If I inspire others to play than that’s awesome! Because hockey is amazing and growing the game is important! With that said I’m going to share a bit of a story with you. So bear with me.. I tend to over share 😅
Hockey is something I’ll never give up. For a long time my life centered around it. I’m fortunate enough to live in a town that’s had multiple pro teams and a great hockey community. I used to coach/play for one of the teams before my transition. When I was debating if I was going to transition or not hockey played a part in it for sure. I didn’t want to never play again. But I was scared that people wouldn’t accept me and all that. I felt like majority of the community liked me and enjoyed my coaching. But you never actually know how someone feels about it, ya know.
When I finally made my decision I was coaching full time and I decided to step away from hockey not necessarily for good but until I was comfortable with myself. So I resigned and hung my skates up. Then started my transition. It was a little after two years into my transition when I decided to step on the ice again. I had played some roller with a few friends and messed around stick handling in the house but I never went back to the rink.
(I actually find this hilarious 😂.) I seen they had a skate and shot and decided I’d go to it. Not skating for two years I needed to get my legs back anyway. So I show up to the rink. It’s still all the same people that worked there when I did. I walked up to the counter to pay and my friend Josh was working and said “hi ma’am, here for stick time?.” He had no idea I started to transition. I said “hi, Josh.” He looked at me like I was crazy and asked if he knew me. I gave him the money and said “you might” then walked away. He stopped me to tell me where the women’s locker room is. I smiled and said thank you.
I skated like crap. To be expected tho. After the time was up I headed to the locker’s. Josh stopped me and asked how I knew him. So I told him who I was and it blew his mind 😂. He congratulated me and said he had no idea. He told me he was thinking to himself damn this girl is good(I actually suck lol). He was like who the fuck is she?. He thought I was one of the college players. Our local college and pro team share the rink together. Anyway he was completely blown away. The interaction was great and positive. He was very supportive. After that I started coming once a week and more people realized who I was.
Everyone was extremely supportive and accepting. They use my chosen name and pronouns. Even offered me a coaching position again. I declined for reasons. But the hockey community in general is amazing. I felt comfortable enough to hop in our league. It’s our house A league so all the best players current pros, ex pros and d1-3 guys. It’s extremely competitive. I’m still the only girl ☠️ lol
Now I can’t speak for any other community but at no point in time have I been treated bad or different. I’m given the same respect as everyone else. Do guys talk in the lockers probably but they are nothing but respectful and courteous to me. If you want to get out and play don’t let anyone stop you.
Hockey is for everyone and you deserve to play too! Just go for it! You never know unless you try. Hockey has one of the best lgbtqiia+ communities in all of sports. There are teams like @teamtrans-icehockey where you can play with people like us who understand the difficulties of being trans/nb/queer in sports. I’ve played with teams trans a few times and they are an incredible group of people! I highly recommend checking them out!

Hey hockeyblr, particularly woho hockeyblr and Minnesota hockey folks:
There is currently a petition going around by a small and vocal minority of people who are trying to get WHAM (Women's Hockey Association of Minnesota) to ban 'biological males' from joining WHAM and thus playing in the state's largest women's hockey league.
The local women-oriented sports bar, A Bar of Their Own, have been staunch supporters of trans and nonbinary people and their place in sports. They have started a counter petition to reject this and remind Minnesota Hockey, the governing body of WHAM, that hockey is for everyone.
I am calling on Minnesota Frost fans in particular to take action, as we know WHAM has been a natural feature at games. As a refuge state with a huge queer population, that has had protections for trans people since the 70s, we know this isn't the will of our community. I'd doubly encourage you to send respectful comments to Minnesota Hockey as well. I am, and will be pointing out the reduction of attendance at Frost games since they have drafted a known transphobe.
Thanks, hockey fam.

Asking for my day supplement of assorted Kimi and his 6’7 hockey boyfriend (as you said maybe it just is an AU like you said lol. And I’m glad you really like it means a lot to me and fellow tall folk) ♥️
ask and you shall receive 🫡🫡 i'm actually really glad it's almost an au of it's own, it's so much fun to write <3 some nsfw bits (as always with kimi and hockey!bf, plus one mention of trans!kimi) so under cut! also hints of adhd!reader but nothing outright.
kimi does almost all of the cooking (as i think we've established? idk i've lost track of what i wrote for who :/)
but then you do most of the dishwashing bc you refuse to just let him do all the work
unless he's riding you in which case he's more than welcome
anyway
you do a very good job of washing the dishes
your record with putting them away is a little less clean
without the specific singular task of get the dish clean, you're much more likely to get distracted while putting the freshly washed dishes away
which results in cups in the baking drawer and knives in with the frying pans
kimi is very very fond of watching you go around the kitchen searching for the dishes you put away
better you than him
you read together (whether you're reading actual books or just kimi's data or something is up to you)
he can get you to sleep so easily just by playing with your hair
it's not your fault! you're just so tall that nobody ever really has since you were a kid, and he does it really well
his absolutely favourite way to wake up is with your head buried between his thighs
12/10 alarm clock, no complaints
he's a hair puller

since making this graphic, I've read Sword Crossed and You Should Be So Lucky and they both were in my top reads for 2024. fucking slap. I own Diablo's Curse but was having a real mental block reading YA for pretty much all of 2024, so despite my excitement for it, I haven't read it yet.
((Cross posting some older posts from my insta (same username) because I’m not sure about the future of meta platforms/my use of meta platforms & I don’t want my content to be lost.))

I remember watching this clip from President Jimmy Carter's going home celebration and sobbing for a good hour. Even as I write this, there are tears flowing from my eyes.
Jimmy Carter was a US Navy pilot. This is the "missing man formation" which is an aerial salute for pilots who have walked on.
I sobbed because not only was this goodbye to truly a good human (he did a lot of charitable work & dedicated his entire life to public service even after losing the presidency), but it was symbolic of America's departure as the global leader.
To MAGA, they celebrate this because most of them are individualistic, shortsighted, cruel, and STUPID.
They do not understand that Vance sided against Europe to stand with Russia. That NATO now is making plans to treat us as a failed nation, and we have alienated Canadians so much that they are unified in boycotting all American made products. Even the Kingdoms of Saudi Arabia and Jordan have had to distance themselves from Trump due to his promises to ethnically cleanse Gaza.
We are not respected by the world. We are not exhibiting military leadership or strength. In fact, Hegseth said that no one should expect that from us. NO MORE. We are alienating the democratic world and aligning with authoritarian dictatorships such as North Korea, Russia, and Hungary.
I heard the US Hockey team was playing "Dream On" after winning against Finland, and I am absolutely astounded by the collective stupidity in that fucking locking room. If only they possessed a miniscule amount of intelligence with the ability to engage with messaging, then they'd understand that we're the bad guys in this particular movie. In a decade, there will be Finnish, Swedish, German, Swiss, and Canadian teams celebrating the defeat of the global threat that is the United States of America. But, alas, they are fucking STUPID.
Rich. But fucking STUPID.
They are too STUPID to realize this alienation has bigger consequences on their little sport.
Let's try a thought experiment. Just a lil one.
If Canada has unified to stop buying American products and its citizens are preparing for invasion, do you think there will exist a NHL with both Canadian and American teams? Cuz that kinda thing leads to division. Like the Canadian Hockey League and the American Hockey League. Do you think they'll still want an American serving as Captain for a Canadian team? Whilst our countries are in a cold war?
Oh, and babes, this government not only promised to commit war crimes such as ethnic cleansing and extrajudicious executions, but they also said they ain't gotta follow the Constitution.
That's all to say that the United States ain't gonna be in no 2026 Winter Olympics. We lose that right to compete with other democratic nations if Trump proceeds with his cruel & inhumane agenda, y'all voted for that, so y'all celebrate that 4 Nations game win. Cuz that might be the last time y'alls lil group have reason to celebrate 🥳.
We are also likely to lose the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. Ain't no way Canada or the UK or Denmark or Sweden will send their WOMEN, TRANS, and NON-BINARY ATHLETES to a country where they would not receive adequate health care. Ain't no way those countries allow such a rogue state to host such diplomacy.
But DREAM ON, lads. DREAM ON.

If any of the hockey nerds are on, Team Trans has been playing this weekend and the novice/intermediate championship game is supposed to start at 4:30 CDT and is being streamed here on Twitch
twitch_live
(There's audio, but they have to periodically mute it because corporations love to abuse copyright law to shut down videos for having incidental background sound)

In the dressing room tn for my intramural hockey game with the girl from the opposing team and she was complaining about her chest protector not fitting over her chest and how she kinda wished she didn’t have boobs. And I was like ‘as a nonbinary person, totally get it’. And then she kinda got shy and quiet and was like ‘you know how some non-binary people wear binders… I’ve always kinda wanted to get one’ and I was like !!! and gave her a couple tips, told her where I got my binders from, and let her know about our uni’s gender affirming care program (will order and pay for various different gender affirming gear for students). And she said that she worried she was taking resources away from people who needed it. And I assured her that wasn’t the case because there’s no limit to the number of people that can order stuff, and was like ‘Plus, gender is a social construct and if wearing a binder affirms your gender, then it affirms your gender! You can be a cis woman and not want boobs! And if that’s the case then that’s gender affirming care!’ She thanked me for the tips and I told her not to worry about it and it was just one of the nicest interactions I’ve ever had with a total stranger. And the timing of it, too.
Tonight was my first time playing hockey in two years. I started playing hockey when I was 4 and last year was the first year I didn’t play. There were a couple people on the intramural team that I was on that said some homophobic/transphobic stuff in the dressing room and it made me so uncomfortable that I didn’t want to play anymore. After 16 years, I couldn’t ignore that the sport I loved was not accepting of me anymore. It was one of the hardest decisions I’ve made.
But this year, I got sucked back into the world of professional hockey, and watching all of my favourite players play made me want to play. So, I waited for co-ed hockey to start, not comfortable playing solely men’s or women’s, and that was the first interaction I had? Wow. I didn’t even have my skates on yet.
The hockey community still has a long way to go, but it’s good to feel hopeful again :)
