Dad How Do I but with Bruce Wayne.
Bruce who teaches life advice- showing kids how to tie a tie, how to tie their shoes, braid their hair, teaching young adults to do taxes, to surf, the best lawyers to hire when in trouble, how to avoid scams, he educates the less fortunate on the best places to get free food, where to go in Wayne Enterprises for a hot shower and some toiletries, how to eat at formal functions so the higher elite have one less thing to criticize them on. He teaches people how to do card tricks and make your niece laugh by pulling out a quarter from behind her ear, teaches moms how to rock their baby to sleep properly, teaches teens to do front flips and cartwheels and calculus, educates them on how to write job applications and two weeks notice letters. He teaches people to sew, to cook(alfred helps) to assemble an IKEA shelf, how to work a lawn mower, and all sorts of different things. And when his son diesïżœïżœïżœ Bruce uses his account to share his grief, his story, shares everything about Jason, what a delight he was, how awesome he was, how much he loved to read and school⊠and then one day, he gets Batman to join a video. And the hero is stiff and everyone can see the exhaustion, the anger and sadness in his joints, his movements, radiating off him. But he sits down heavily into the chair Bruce Wayne had previously vacated⊠and begins to speak. He tells the story of Robin, his young child sidekick, who just like Jason Wayne, was murdered by the Joker. He tells everyone how his little boy tried to save Jason Todd, and how they both perished in the aftermath. He tells people about his grief, his anger, and why Batman is suddenly harsher and hurts more. âBecause I hurt more.â he confesses quietly, and the people finally get to meet the man behind the mask (figuratively) and truly get to see who their hero really is. The accountâs popularity skyrockets, and soon Batman is a lot more common to be seen, teaching people how to defend themselves and handle the Batarangs he knows they collect after he fights. Nightwing shows up too sometimes, teaching more elegant flips and tricks and they demonstrate their workout together, and a few months later, Batman shyly introduces his new Robin, same messy black hair as the one before, but slightly smaller, and theres something⊠more behind those lenses in his mask. But the kid is soon a fan favorite, making sarcastic comments and countering Nightwings witty remarks, and the people get to see a new side of Batman, get to watch as he rolls his eyes at them, as he uses them to teach people how to disguise themselves, ways to use clothes to stem blood, tie tourniquets.Â
Then Red Hood returns. And a kid in Crime Alley catches him cursing at his jacket because a button fell off and he cant get it back on. âUm! Mr. Red Hood sir?â the kid pipes anxiously. Red Hood turns to him, angry, but the kid doesn't back down and just goes âYou should watch âMr. Wayne How Do I: Sewingâ it'll help.â and then he scampers off. And Jason is pissed and even more angry because of course while he was dead Bruce decides to become a father to everyone in Gotham. But he watches the video. And it helps. And⊠well, its one of the older videos. And Jason finds another old video. The one about⊠the one about his death. It shouldn't make his anger lessen, shouldn't make him cry, shouldn't bring him to Bruceâs doorstep where he reveals himself and they hug and cry and catch up and cry some more⊠but it does.Â
Gothamites are a little surprised when their local Crime Lord appears on the channel, standing right next to Batman. Surprised, but pleased. Because Batman looks happy in a way he hasn't in a long time and well⊠Red Hood watched out for them too. And now their two protectors are working together.

Bruce Wayne x Batdad Reader!
Being Bruceâs husband wasnât as easy as you thought there were a lot of difficulties in your life while being married to him.But it was all good he loved and you loved him. Simply as that, you guys met because you where a famous singer and met at one of his galas.
At first he was all flirty and honoring his playboy persona. You didnât show any interest at first because who doesnât flirt with M/n. But Bruce was kind of charming and really nice. Beside everything you heard from him. And then you woke beside him in bed. âOh my fucking-â anyway- letâs leave that behind.
After that night you thought he would leave you like it never happened and keep going on with his life, but surprisingly he invited you on a date. A couple years later you met Alfred a really nice person and enjoyed your company. And all of that disappeared because your 5 year boyfriend left you without a word for 10 fuckin years.
âHey Alfred have you heard from Bruce I didnât see him todayâ âoh master M/n⊠I thought you knewâŠâ after that you promised to never trust anyone that easily, sure it affected you but you werenât going to stop and be miserable. You decided to take out some new songs.
âM/N is back!â Your fans were going crazy! Everybody thought you quit the music career and left. And⊠Bruce well not like he didnât care about you he just wanted to make a change. He was training to protect you and Alfred. And then he was there your âboyfriendâ you were spending time with Alfred. You werenât going to leave him alone for 10 whole years!
âH- hi ummâŠâ Bruce looked at you. He looked much muscular and old⊠â Alfred I think I should goâŠâ you took your things and while you were about to open the door Bruce grabbed your hand. âDonât you-â âplease let me explainâŠâ you lost right there âwhat Bruce!? Explain that you left me for 10 years!â Bruce was shocked. He remembered you much calmer and shy.
You let him explain why he leaved you. Because you were still young you gave him another opportunity. Some years later you met Richard or Dick who you protected with your life and refused to let him be robin. âSweetheart pleaseâŠâ you refused to look at him âBruce itâs too dangerous for a literal kid to be fighting grown ass men or women who want to hurt him!â Dick heard your discussion somewhat regretting he asked Bruce to be his sidekick. You saw Dick on the corner wanting to cry⊠âoh⊠Richard why are you crying?â âIâm sorry⊠I didnât want you to fight I I- just wanted to help.â You sighed âIâm not sure if Iâm going to regret this but⊠I guess you can go help BruceâŠâ Bruce smiled and Dick celebrated and hugged you. âThank you!â You looked at Bruce and said darklyâBruce if something happens you are going to regret being Batmanâ Bruce only laughed and hugged both of you.
After some years Dick grew older and became a teenager. âHey Dick what do you want to eat today?â Dick really grew trust in you that he called you dad first than Bruce. âDunno dad maybe some pancakes??â And while Dick and Bruce were patrolling Bruce found Jason a young boy trying to steal the Batmobileâs tires.
Jason really liked you he had a better relationship with you then Bruce or Dick. He would often ask you to read him books. It was like that until that day⊠Joker captured Jason. âhey Bruce!â When you went to the bat cave you only found Dick and Bruce. âWhereâs Jason?â You were more then devastated when he died.
You and Bruce barely spoke, Dick tried to make you both love each other again, but he couldnât even make you both sleep in the same bed. After 1 or 2 years Bruce decided to adopt another kid. Tim. Thatâs when you started thinking about divorce.
âReally!? Another kid you wanna harm this one too?â You started loosing respect from Bruce, but there was nothing you could do he was so stubborn.
In those years that Tim became and trained to be a robin. You also trained⊠to kill the guy that took your son. You learned how to use every weapon you had on your use, you where stronger and faster, and learned a lot of fight movements.
The day you heard your third son was captured⊠you didnât let Bruce handle this. You went there by yourself with a shotgun, gun, rifle, a lot of more utensils that would help you get your son back.
The building was quiet there was no sign of life but only lifeless bodyâs all around you opened the door and automatically shot the Joker on his knee. âAaaaaaaaah!â He screamed in agony while watching you above him. âTim⊠go.â Tim looked at you and before he left he hugged you. âIt will be okayâŠâ after you made sure he left you grabbed a metal pipe and left the Joker on a wall. âHahahahahahah! Let me guess you are going to kill me! WOW Iâm so scared!â You looked at him angrily and hit him with the metal pipe. â SHUT THE FUCK UP!â He spat blood all over the floor. âBatsy is not gonna let you kill meâ he laughed quietly. âWell guess what⊠I will make sure he doesnât interfere. And I my self will make sure you donât take anyone elseâs kid againâ Joker looked confused but then realized. âYou are robins Dad! Batmanâs husband!â That name hurted you⊠âwell guess what it was so fun I donât regret it.â He was pushing your limits. You started breathing loudly and one by one you killed the man that killed your kid.
ââââââââââââââââââââââââ
Hey yall! I think this was my longest post but I hope yâall like it. I leaved a tlou reference In there. Thatâs all! There might be part 2 tho.

Been in a Batfamily (in all it's fucked up drama) mood lately and thinking...
Jason gets into town, starts establishing his Red Hood persona, screwing with the Bats and taking over Crime Alley. He intends to use the new Robin to screw with Batman and manipulating Black Mask into reporting the new Red Hood back to the original. And as planned, Joker does not respond well to 'some upstart' using his old moniker.
Except when Joker breaks out of Arkham he can't help but be distracted by Batman and his shiny new Robin. (Has Joker been out while Tim's been Robin at this point? Let's say no for the sake of fanfic purposes.) Now Harley made Joker promise no more killing kids after what happened with the last Robin, made it clear that was a hard boundary for her and she'd leave him for good if he want after any more kids.
Of course, his promise that of course he wouldn't kill anymore kids was a total lie but it got Hartley to go all soft and agreeable for him again and that was what mattered. Besides, he doesn't want to kill this Robin. He wants to see what Batman sees in having child sidekick and take one for himself.
So Tim gets kidnapped by the Joker before Bruce can send the poor kid somewhere not Gotham for his safety. And Joke unmasks Tim because of course he does. And Harley sees how young Tim is and watches Mr. J start electrocuting the kid because surely the brainwashing'll stick if they fry his noggin' a bit first...
And Harley decides this is a boundary for her too. She can't be a part of this and even if it kills her, she's going to save this kid. She knows she can't do it on her own and her first thought is to go find Batman.
Of course, she quickly nixes this idea. Batman isn't ruthless enough and sure maybe he'll make it all the way through Joker's henchmen - admittedly as per usual - and rescue the kid. But then Mr. J will go back to Arkham and even though Harley doesn't want Joker dead... she also kinda wants him dead for this one. For using his promise to her not to kill kids as an excuse to torture children instead.
Next choice is Nightwing but he's out for the same reasons as Batman. Nightwing is somewhat more likely to kill the Joker and could live with it in the way Batman couldn't, but it's not a guarantee and Harley wants this kid to know that the guy who did this to him will never be able to do it ever again.
And then Harley remembers. Red Hood. Who definitely picked that name not as an homage but as a taunt. Who clearly hates the Joker and all he stands for. Who will... probably kill Harley, let's be honest, but she's not sure she wants to live without her Mr. J even as she's mentally planning out the man's death. So.
Harley makes an excuse to leave. Joker says something about mom doing the grocery shopping to the kid he's electrocuting and hands off a list of random stuff to Harley. She takes it and skedaddles. Heads all the way to Crime Alley. Stands outside it for a long moment. Thinks about the kid Joker's gotten his hands on. The way he screamed and cried and begged for Batman to come save him after the bravado of Robin quickly wore off.
She steps into Crime Alley. And then she does random acrobatics down the street, waiting for the Red Hood or his men to show up.
And they do. The Red Hood's henchmen are quick and efficient in grabbing her and presenting her to their boss. There's a gun in her face and she should be terrified and she is but...
She tells Red Hood about the kid. She drops the fake accent she put on for Joker and let's herself be, for just one last time, Harleen instead of Harley. The doctor who cares and not the killer Joker molded her into. "So kill me or whatever, I know I deserve it for believing Mr. J's lies again. But you have a code. You don't hurt kids. You don't kill kids. And maybe I'm asking too much, but I wasn't there and didn't save the last one. So I'm begging you to save this one."
Jason sees green. He has Harley take him to the Joker's hide out. He tears his way through the Joker's goons and doesn't hesitate to kill the Joker because he's too deep in the pit rage at the man who murdered him to care about his convoluted plans to try and force Bruce's hand, to make Batman finally kill Joker.
On the bright side, killing the Joker himself clears up some of Jason's lazarous pit related anger management issues. On the spot. The down side however is that Jason now has a traumatized Tim to deliver back to Batman - which he'd rather not, Batman cannot be trusted not to weaponize children - without being blamed for the state Tim's in.
He makes this Harley's problem - explain this to the Bats yourself, it's your punishment, Harley - and decides he needs a new plan to say 'screw you' to Batman with. He's gonna win over Robin 3.0 and get the kid to willingly abandon Batman to join the Red Hood Crew. How hard can it be, anyway?
Meanwhile Tim has absolutely figured out Jason is the Red Hood because he's absolutely connecting dots he should not be capable of connecting and formulating his own plan to try and lure Jason back home. Because why would Tim focus on healing from his own trauma when he could prioritize someone else's and compartmentalize the hell out of his own problems. Which is definitely the healthy thing to do and not at all going to bite him in the ass with depression and miscommunications down the line. (They all need so much therapy.)
So now the Joker's dead, Harley has delivered Tim safely back to Batman, (Ivy is about to get an unexpected visitor,) and the Bats are about to start playing four-d chess with each other to try and achieve various goals. Jason is trying to steal Tim from Bruce. Bruce thinks maybe saving Robin means the new Red Hood could be saved from himself after all. Tim is trying to lure Jason back to the manor for Alfred's cookies and oh is that a long overdue conversation with Bruce that is also sprung on him like a trap??? And Dick would just like to thank Red Hood but somehow winds up drunk confessing to the definitely-a-hallucination-of-Jason the whole didn't find out his little brother was dead until after the funeral when Dick got back from space thing and how he's so grateful to the Red Hood for saving this new kid who's just the neighbor's kid but also rapidly looking brother-shaped and why is he so bad at protecting the people he cares about???
(Jason rapidly going from 'drunk Dick is funny' to 'drunk Dick is clingy and cries and oh god he's getting emotions all over me make it stop')
#fanfiction#fanfic ideas#the batfamily#batman#the red hood#harley quin#jason todd#tim drake#bruce wayne#dick grayson#Tim - *waving a cookie in front of Jason and then taking a bite* Mmmmmm Agent A's cookies are the best.#Tim - And you who definitely has no idea what you're missing out on... want one?#Jason - *dying inside - again - because he wants one so badly he misses Alfred's baking* N...no.... yes. Dammit. Give me a cookie.#Tim - *stage one success*

I love Reverse Robins Au but I feel like a lot of people interpret it as reverse roles Au rather than how I interpret it Reverse Age au.
Here's how I see it:
Damian:
Is dropped off with Bruce at age 8 - violent assassin child who meets tired goth Bruce who's not quite used to being batman yet and is nowhere near equipped enough to raise a child but he's damned if he's not gonna try his hardest.
It's a bit of a mission at first trying to curb the violent tendencies and raise a whole antisocial person (and wow, he admires Alfred so much more now). He almost quits Batman for a bit until he figures out that making Damian his sidekick might be a good outlet for him.
Duke
Bruce is out on patrol with Damian when he finds a little boy who's parents are out of commission and is too stubborn to believe that the Bat would actually help him.
Damian hates that he's not an only child anymore but eventually warms up to the idea when he realises they can team up against Bruce and that they are not in competition.
When Bruce finds out that Duke is a meta he wants to flinch back and send him away, but he doesn't, partially because he loves Duke so much the idea of losing him so quickly repulsed him and partially because Damian pulled a sword on him at the idea.
Tim:
Roughly 9 years after Damian is taken in Bruce, Damian and Duke are approached by a small boy saying he knows who they are and wants to join them. Bruce refuses but Damian spots the opportunity to have someone else be Batman's sidekick whilst he can become a hero in his own right.
Damian starts following Tim around and looking out for him and then he realises that Tim is being neglected and come on he can't just leave Tim there so he brings him home and Bruce can't really argue against that.
Two months later Batman has a new sidekick and Gotham has a new lone hero.
Cass
They only notice her because she wants them to and absolutely no one questions it when she's bought home. All three boys had wanted a sister at some point and none of them cared about her past or her speech.
Jason:
Tim's a teenager now has almost finished highschool when Bruce goes out one night with the batmobile and comes back to where he parked it find a kid stealing the tires. Bruce can sense that Tim is going to inevitably leave him as well so what better time to take in a new kid when he also will need a sidekick soon.
The decision hurts Tim more than anything else because he's being replaced and he's not ready to be on his own even though he's never been more ready.
Jason grows quicker than either of his other two boys and he's more determined than either of them to right the wrongs of Gotham. That determination was what led him to Ethiopia where his the joker killed him.
Dick
Bruce was at the circus at Alfred's suggestion, something to distract him from the empty seat at the table where his youngest should be. It's at the circus where he sees the trapeze line fail and he can't stop himself from reaching out to the falling artists. It hurts him to take in another child so soon after losing Jason but the thought of that tiny boy who saw his parents die going into Juvie almost kills him.
Dick brings joy into the manor that hadn't been known since Bruce was a boy and everyone in the family falls in love with him.
When the Red hood emerges, angry at his older siblings for not protecting him and wanting to kill Dick they're all a worrying amount of relieved and angry. Surprisingly it's Dick that manages to get him to come back to the family.

Every time I learn something new about Batman: War Games I lose my mind a little bit more cause just, just fuckin, look okay so here's the thing:
Stephanie Brown tries to implement a contingency plan of Bruce's just after he fires her from being Robin and because of that gets tortured to (almost) death and no one knows she survived.
THIS STORY RUNS IN THE NEWS:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/5261ae9bbaeda8e14a92d87a5028fec8/da9a049672cb354a-1a/s540x810/a40788f4d5675604c3ec400c97e6ffaba97a97ed.jpg)
So, you know, anyone who might be paying even half a fucking ounce of attention to news about ROBINS would definitely absolutely notice this!!!
And then very very soon afterwards Jason comes back and specifically targets Black Mask to ruin the criminal empire he tortured Stephanie to get
As a way to torment Bruce about the fact that he doesn't take care of the nastiest criminals and they continue killing people
And how Jason should have been the last to die
and SOMEHOW
these two things are in no way related and Jason has nothing to do with or say about Stephanie Brown, fellow Robin, fellow martyred soldier, fellow child dead due to Bruce related villains.
HOLY DEAD SIDEKICKS BATMAN, DO YOU COMPREHEND THE MAGNITUDE OF MISSED OPPORTUNITIES HERE????
please walk with me down a timeline in which:
Lost Days Jason at first just tries to go after the Joker and can't because who he's really mad at is Bruce.
Then he sees Who Really Killed Stephanie Brown and the utter horror of another Robin dying on Bruce's watch (not just dying, but tortured to death!) is what convinces him to try to straight up kill Bruce via car bomb
Roman Sionis is no longer merely a tool against Batman, but another figure to demand vengeance be brought upon, another attempt to give Bruce a chance to right his wrongs and do what needs to be done
The confrontation with him and the Joker being all the more tragic due to how obvious Bruce's answer would have to be once Jason knows Bruce isn't going to avenge Stephanie either
Does Jason, once he escapes the rubble after UtRH is over, kill Black Mask anyways? Does he decide to avenge her himself? Or does he think that she too would demand that of Bruce, and find his death by a different hand unsatisfactory?
If he doesn't kill Black Mask, then when Steph is back, I feel confident he approaches her, tries to reach out to the other dead Robin, almost certainly makes the offer now that he can ask her. Does she take him up on it, gaining an ally and slipping into a far darker role? Does she instead refuse, either appealing to forgiveness or far more interestingly refusing both vengeance and forgiveness? How would Jason handle a refusal, which I gut instinct feel is more likely?
If he does kill Black Mask, then when Steph is back Jason drops his corpse at her feet like a loving housecat with a dead lizard and she has to grapple with her feelings about having someone really and truly avenge her!!! Like how DO you react to someone who you have been warned is wildly dangerous and mentally unstable coming up to you and saying, "I'm glad you're back, like me. I'm sorry you're back, like me. I made sure you could rest knowing he was dead, because I know what it feels like."
Like no matter how each character reacted to this happening there would be so much high stakes emotional shit to explore with both of them!! Revenge I feel like is such a pivotal thing for both characters, they mirror each other in so so many ways, they could be really interesting together if DC would just fucking let them!!!
Jason had a criminal father who he missed and wanted to avenge. Stephanie had a criminal father who she wanted vengeance on.
Jason started off as a fairly gentle soul who progressively became more violent and more hopeless as he was exposed to genuine horrors during his time as Robin. Stephanie starts off violent, angry and rash and finds her own courage and hope through her time as a crime fighter despite of the horrors she's been through.
Jason went to Africa and died there after Bruce failed to save him. Stephanie was taken to Africa via a fake death in order to save her from Bruce and the vigilante lifestyle.
I just...
There's just...
There's SO MUCH HERE I am genuinely fucking confused as to how this is not all deliberate?? And it's all just left on the cutting room floor because for no reason apparent to me they all just decided Stephanie and Jason were not gonna interact!
AAGHHHH!

|| My Kind of Crazy ||
Harley Quinn X Male Reader
So after Binge Watching Barbie, rewatching Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), donât forget that part, and The Suicide Squad, my appreciation For Morgot Robbie has increased more than it already has. Adore her. So, hereâs part one of ?
(Any Tags I forgot please let me know.)
The Stench of rotting carpet, old wood and the tinge of blood was in the air. But this was all a part of the plan. Inside that old decrepit apartment you had your pistol Aimed at a man standing before you, Batman. Yes, The, Batman. A series of choices lead to this moment, but it wasnât always like this. You were his Robin, his Boy wonder. Now youâre the shadow hiding within Gotham. Your foot was placed on the chest of another man, whoâs cold and chilling laugher echoes though the room, Joker. It was on this same day, that you were Abducted; tortured, and subsequently Killed by the Very man. A Trip in the Lazuras pit changed you for the worst. But to your surprise after your revival, Joker was still alive, and Batman hadnât sunk revenge for your murder, and all you could ask wasâŠ
âWhy?â You as under your Helmet.. âWhy him?â You said, Batman was stoic, silent.
âWho are you..?â He grumbles, his voice modulated to avoid detection, âYou donât know? Iâm hurt.â You say with much sarcasm, you grip your helmet and tear it off, showing your face to Batman, even with the small J scar under your eye, itâs obvious who you were. Out of all the people he thought, he never expected his old Sidekick..
To be under the Red Hood.
Jokers eyes lock with the scar and he laughs much harder.
âWow, now THAT, is funny!â He has his grilled toothy grin, and you placed your foot higher right on his throat. The wheezing laughter continues slowly.
âYou donât get to talk.â You growl at him, and then turnt your attention back to Batman.
âYou know, I forgive you for not saving me, you canât save everyone. But why, why is HE still alive?!â You scream, the rage and trauma building up in you finally. âAfter everything heâs done, heâs crippled, broken, murdered people! Why, why is he still here?!â
âYou donât understand⊠you never understood.â He said to you, and you scoff.
âWhat? That you canât do it? That you donât have the spine to! Itâs too hard isnât it?â You ask, Bruce shakes his head.
âNo, I know itâs easy, he deserves to die a thousand times over, but if I killed him, i wouldnât stop myself⊠Iâd justify it, then Iâd justify killing someone else, and itâll keep going.. and Iâll sink further, and further into the dark.â Bruce said, you shook your head.
âYou canât control yourself⊠Iâm not talking about Dent, or Penguin, Even Harley!â You toss the gun, Bruce instinctively catches it but, obviously isnât capable of holding a gun.
âDo it, shoot him. Kill one, and save millions of lives⊠youâre the Batman right! You save people, donât you? So save them! And kill him!â You demand, Bruce stares at you, both of you unwavering in your convictions. But he simply dropped the gun.
âNo⊠Iâm sorry, (Y/n).â He said in a solemn whisper.
âFine!â You yell, revealing one last trick up your sleeve. an explosive set in the entire apartment block, revealing the dead manâs switch in your other hand. Joker laughs as he looks around it all beeping. He turns to Batman, and just smiles
âYou, you found a way to win! But to lose everything! AHAHAHAHAHAââ he laughs, reveling in the chaos as you let go of the switch, Batman made a choice, and now all three of you had to live with it, and in a flash, an explosion, it all faded to black for you.
Youâve been playing that in your mind for the past year youâve been in Belle Reeve. Sitting in your orange room, captive. The 4x4 room kept you isolated, only for a bang at the door.
âInmate. Youâve got a visitor! Stand up, face the wall.â He yells, you werenât keen to listen to others. You stood up, facing the door, cracking your neck.
âAny of your men step in, Iâm sending ten of them to the ICU.â You said, very calmly, the door opens and they rush in, training with the Batman made fighting multiple enemies a breeze, punches, kicks and knees flew all though the room as you delivered counters, combos and ruthless tactics. But all fun even came at an end as you were apprehended and locked into a chair. Struggling like a dog you strained to get out, you were wheels around Belle Reeve as you see eleven stretchers head to your cell.
âTold you..â you mutter, struggling in the binds. Being wheeled into an interrogation room, you kept your lips purse until you saw your visitor, she wore a womenâs suit and skirt, her eyes deep brown like mud drowning you in muck. Amanda Waller. You looked around and saw that the room was being monitored by a single camera. She gave one officer the nod and he presses a button, the red light on the camera fades off.
âYouâre not as scary as I expected.â She said, holding a file she sat down across from you. You knew about Waller, working with the Batman gave you some intel on contacts. And she was the nastiest one of all.
âWaller?â You ask.
âIn the flesh.â She responded and opened your file, reading it off.
â(Y/n) Todd, Father was a factory worker, died due to Gang related activity. Mother was an addict, died years ago, leaving you alone, but you see.. thatâs where it ends, as if you faded off the planet of the earth. Until you resurface a year later.â She said, all of that was true.
âWhatâs your point?â You ask. And she reads off another page.
âPeak Physical fitness, durability, speed, Agility, Strenght. Master Of Arms and a Genius level intellect⊠you are a dangerous and powerful individual, so Iâm offering you a chance to cut your sentence down..â she offers
âYouâre bluffing..â you struggle in the binds more, but Waller keeps her dead stare.
âDo I look like Iâm bluffing?â She said, you stop and she looks you in the eye. âyou complete your task, you get years off your sentence, you fail.. you die. Fairly simple.â She said, a million thoughts raced though your mind, but one did.
âGet out, Find Joker.. Kill, Joker.â
ââŠIm in.â You said, Waller takes her file and closes it. âGood, get his bomb in and relay with the others.â She says, your attitude shifts pretty quickly, âbomb?â You ask, âWhat do you mean bomb?!â You yell, but nobody said anything, being wheeled away you were held down by officers and a needle injected right into the base of your skull. Granted it wasnât the worse thing thatâs been done to you, still hurt. Finally reaching the breaking point you were wheeled outside, the sun finally hitting your skin and you found yourself surrounded by soldiers, many wounded, others preparing for what seems to be a war.
You turn your head left to spot someone you know too well, Deadshot. Seems he was also canned to Belle Reeve, and to your left was a woman you knew too well, Harley Quinn, also a prisoner. Your blood began to boil even more than before and you were ready to throttle her, but with all these soldiers here, you doubt youâd be able to do it without getting filled with lead. So you bid your time as any Hunter would. A Soldier approached them, and looked them up and down.
âUnlock 'em.â He orders, the soldiers obliged and your restraints are removed, you sit up from yoyr bindings and look further down your line. You even spot Killer Croc, in all his, Lizardy goodness. Harley Stretches and keeps her off putting smile. Closest to Harley was a man adorned with Tattoos, ElDiablo was his name, you heard a few reports about him from Batman.
âMmm! Hi, boys! Harley Quinn. How do you do?â She said, obviously no one said anything. It was dead silence until she looks around. âHuh? What was that? I should kill everyone and escape? Sorry. It's the voicesâŠâ she said, but laughs, âI'm kidding! Jeez!âŠThat's not what they really said.â
The soldiers arenât done assembling their Squad, more soldiers drag over a sack thatâs fighting pretty furiously.
âWhat do we got here? Twelve pounds of shit in a 10-pound sack. Welcome to the party, Captain Boomerang.â He watches them cut it open, Captain immediately swings on the first person he sees. The Soldiers pin him to a wall.
âHey, what's going on, man? Hey, one minute I'm playing Mahjong with me nanna, then this red streak hits me outta nowhere.â Boomerang pleads.
âShut up! You were caught robbing a diamond exchange.â
âI was not!â
He Totally Was.
There was one last member, Slipknot, the man who could climb anything, which was an odd ability set, it nonetheless he was here. The man before them all was Colonel Rick Flag.
âListen up! In your necks, injection you got, it's a nanite explosive. It's the size of a rice grain, but it's powerful as a hand grenade. You disobey me, you die. You try to escape, you die. You otherwise irritate or vex me, and guess what? You die.â He says, which throws a wrench in your plans to escape, Harley obnoxiously puts her hand up.
âI'm known to be quite vexing. I'm just forewarning you.â
âLady, shut up!â Flag yells, and then composed himself, âThis is the deal. You're going somewhere very bad, to do something that'll get you killed. But until that happens, - you're my problem.â He explains, Deadshot looks him up and down.
âMmm. So was that like a, uh, pep talk?â He asks.
âYeah. That was a pep talk. There's your shit. Grab what you need for a fight. We're wheels up in 10.â He said, crates of gear was brought in for you and your âTeammates.â
âYou might wanna work on your team motivation thing. You heard of Phil Jackson? He's like the gold standard, okay? Triangle, bitch. Study.â Deadshot, with those very inspiring words to flag suits up with everyone. You open your crate to see the old gear you had, still in damn good condition, and you suit up, Your body armor and jacket lined with shuriken, explosives and throwing knives, a combat knife strapped to your leg. Twin M1911 Dual Handguns, mint condition. And your helmet, still holding one scar on it, you take the helmet out of its case and stare at it. Your eyes waver for a moment to your other teammates, everyone seems to have some dumb gimmick, but your eyes dressed down Harley, not by your choice of course, youâve been cramped in a hole for nearly a year, and the first woman you see was stripping down in front of you. An urge came over you and you knew exactly what it was, she finally gets her shirt on and sees almost every guy staring.
âWhat?â She said, they all quickly go back to doing what they were supposed to do, you as well, pushing those feelings down. You keep looking at your mask, Deadshot does the same thing with his.
âWhat? Won't fit anymore? Too much junk in the trunk?â Harley said to him.
âNah. Every time I put this on, somebody dies.â He tried to shake it off, but couldnât that.. this wouldnât be a normal contracts
âAnd?â Harley said.
âI like putting it on.â He admits, she smirks and grabs her mallet, âGoody. Somethin' tells me a whole lotta people are about to die!â She sounds so giddy.
âYeah. It's us. We're being led to our deaths.â Diablo said.
âI donât plan on it.â You said, looking down the barrels of one of your 1911âs.
âYou know something we donât Mate?â Boomerang asks, âNo.â You reply. âI just donât plan on dying again.â You mutter.
âWhat you a zombie or something?â Deadshot looks unimpressed. âSomething like that⊠point is; Been dead, done that⊠I plan on getting out of here..â you say, and turn to Harley.
âIâve got business to take care of.â You made your claim pretty obvious but it didnât matter to you, escape is the only plan, and getting this explosive disabled. âYou donât seem to giddy like these guys..â you ask El Diablo, âIâm not here to hurt anyone man.â He said. Deadshot was the first to let them all know.
âY'all might wanna leave old boy alone. He could torch this whole joint. Ain't that right, ese?â He looks at Diablo, who calmly shows his hands, flames emitting from them, but low ones:
âAin't got nothing to worry about from me. I'm cool, homie.â He says, Flag returns to them, holding a tablet with Amanda on screen.
âBehold the voice of God.â He said, and she gives them the rundown. âFor those of you who don't know me officially, my name is Amanda Waller. There's an active terrorist event in Midway City. I want you to enter the city, rescue HVT-1, and get them to safety.â She orders.
âI'm sorry. Uh... For those of us who don't speak good guy, what is HVT-1?â Deadshot asks.
âHVT.. High Value Target.â You say, âItâs like a bounty, Basically a rescue mission.â You explain, Deadshot nods, admitting you made it sound much less cool. âThe only person that matters in the city, the one person you can't kill. Complete the mission, you get time off your prison sentence. Fail the mission, you die. Anything happens to Colonel Flag, I'll kill every single one of you. Remember, I'm watching. I see everything.â Waller ends the communication and Flag turns to Deadshot
There's your pep talk.â
âCompared to your shit, she killed it. So that's it? What, we some kind of Suicide Squad?â He asks, Flag ignores his question and leaves.
âI'll notify your next of kin. Alpha, Bravo team. Mount up!â He orders, you look around to the team youâll be forced to work with. All of them, criminals in their own right, but for now theyâre the thing between success, or all of you dying painful deaths. You put on your helmet and the detective mode still works, turning it off. You load your guns and walk to the helicopter.
Task Force X, has been activated.

Reversed Robins : Tim Drake
Here, I give you how I see reversed robins happening, but centered onTim
So Tim has always stalked Batman and Shadowbat (Damian, as robin can only be brought by Dick), and was fucking good at it (Damian was raised by assassin and never realised he was being followed). He admired and adored them, especially after Shadowbat saved him from being mugged the first night he went out to follow them.
He guesses their identity because of Damian's 'tt'. When he saves him as Shadowbat, he makes some comment about being alone at night as a kid, followed by a 'tt'. He then accompanies Tim back to the bus stop. Tim always knew Damian was a softy. During Damian's first gala, when he is introduced to this shy 6 year old, he makes that same sound, annoyed at being compared to a child.
Fast foward 6 years in which Tim does not have more interactions with the Wayne, only admiring from rooftops and galas. Damian is 16 and starts arguing with Bruce since he wants to have his own persona and not be Batman's sidekick anymore. Obviously Bruce doesn't let him because that's his son and he doesn't want him to go alone. So Damian moves out (technically to one of Bruce's apartment because he's still a minor) and becomes Nightwing, patrolling on the other side of Gotham.
Batman becomes a tad bit more violent (not as much as when Jason died obviously) out of anger and Tim feels he has to step in. He has training and he's smart, so he starts joining Batman on patrol to try and regulate the man. He introduces himself as Batkid. It takes a few weeks for Batman to accepts this new child he knows nothing about, and a few weeks later Tim is introduced to the cave. Nightwing is aware of this new child, and even if it annoys him that this kid replaced him, he mostly ignores Tim and the way he looks at him with stars in his eyes.
A year after becoming Batkid and a few weeks after letting slip up he has known Batman identity all the time, he is brought back to the manor. Bruce is baffled by that child who is actually his 12 year old neighboor and a genius. He doesn't adopt him or even think about it (because Dick was the reason Bruce even had the idea, and Damian is his blood son so it doesn't cross his mind) but he still offers a room in the manor that Tim gladly accepts. Damian is not thrilled, this child has known his identity and is threatening his place as the heir. So he acts as Damian always does: cold and mean. He constantly belittles Tim, when they train he critics him and doesn't hold back. But Tim has always wanted a brother (and it's Shadowbat !) so he doesn't complain because if it can make Damian accept him, then he'll do anything.
One evening, after training, Tim is exhausted and ask if they can take a break. Damian rains insults on him, he's incompetent, weak, useless and pathetic, no rogue will just let him rest in the middle of battle. Later that night, Tim goes out even though he's benched, to prove to Damian he can be something. He stumbles upon Harley, and the whole JJ thing happens. Except, when Batman arrives, Joker has already shot Tim and escaped. So Tim dies, laughing and begging for help and forgiveness, bleeding out in Bruce's arms who was too late.
Somehow, after being burried, Ra's gets a hand on him. The guy has been observing Tim before he was Batkid, when he realised he had been foloowing Batman around. (so either he wakes up in his grave and Talian brings him, or Ra's goes get the body directly from the grave to the pit). So he wakes up in the pit, green eyes and white strands of hair. The effect of the pit is not pure madness and bloodlust, but more like sharp thoughts, he'll do what is most efficient no matter the process. His physical scars from being JJ are gone, but he's not healed mentally. He still gets phantom itches in the corners of his mouth. He gets trained by the league, manipulated to hate the batfam, loses his spleen. Tim is a little genius Ra's pretty much wants as his heir, which makes Tim pleased because that's something he has over Damian. He knows there's a new Batkid, Jason Todd, who Bruce adopted, and took his place and has so much more than Tim was ever given from the batfam.
Tim goes back to Gotham 3 years after his death (he's 16), because he still has to take Joker down. He goes to the Drake's manor, where he starts living in since his parents are still always travelling. He ends up finding pictures he took before becoming Batkid that bring back memories he had forgotten through the pit and Joker's torture. It helps him clear his mind from the pit's madness and Al Ghul manipulation, and change his views on killing Batman and Batkid. He hacks into the bat computer to see all he has missed : fights filmed from the batcowl, training from the batcave cameras... all to realise that Jason had it so easy. Damian never insultes him and is a soft big brother, Bruce treats him like his child, even adopting him as soon as he could (Jason's parents were still alive so why did he never asked to Tim ?). He was Bruce's son before being Batman's sidekick.
so Tim becomes the Red Hood and kills the Joker to announce his arrival. He still goes to attack Batkid because he's jealous and the kid has to realise life isn't perfect (Tim knows Jason grew up in Crime Alley, but he's hurt so he's gonna make sure he's not the only one), but has no intention on killing the kid. He also has no intention revealing who he is. Because, for all his cockiness, he is scared of being rejected, he probably could not take more hate from Damian. He prefers being seen as a nameless monster rather that the nosy neighboor kid that invited himself in their little cocoon.
The night Jason finds out who Red Hood is, he promises not to tell anyone as long as he can hang out with Tim, because he's so cool and he has guns. Jason doesn't break his promise.
One night Jason gets badly hurt and Red Hood arrives in time to kill the goons. Sadly, Drake's manor does not have the material to treat Jason so Tim does the only thing he can think of while stopping Batkid from bleeding out, he calls Damian (because you're supposed to call your big brother when you're in a shitty situation right ?): saying he has the kid and if he wants him to be fine he better come right now and alone. Nightwing arrives, ready to fight the Red Hood, except he find the guy clearly preventing blood from gushing out from Jason. He takes Batkid and brings him to the batcave, no questions ask. Tim goes to his closest warehouse, waiting for a text from the kid.
Nightwing finds him, demanding explanations. and Tim lashes out because haven't you guys learnt anything ? letting a kid go alone and fight ? the first stupid batkid wasn't enough ? and Damian punches him, don't you dare talk about my the first Batkid that way. And Tim laughs hard, so hard he feels like it could reopen his scars on his lips if they were still there. you're brother ? the one you fucking threw away ? don't you play hero with me Nightwing, you're a full of shit. And Damian is left standing there, silent, because how does he know any of that. Then Red Hood does this thing Tim always did when he was anxious, drumming his fingers on his crossed arms. And Damian realises that's his little brother standing in front of him, who died because of him. In a few seconds, Tim finds himself envelopped by Damian's larger frame (and they both wondered when the other got so big) and cry because why did it take Tim to die for Damian to accept him ?.
Bringing Tim back to the family is tedious, Bruce does not know how to act around this kid (who's more of a teen now) and Damian can see the way Tim flinches everytime he moves. It gets easier when Dick arrives because he's a ray of sunshine.
i just realised i forgot to inlcude the other batkids, i'm terribly sorry TwT. if i write a fic i'll add them, promise (â„_â„)

"Mistakes are not something you can afford to make, Jason," Bruce commented, though his gaze was trained on the screen before him. "I told you this was an intel mission. You should have waited for my queue."
Jason adjusted his position on the chair he was currently sat on, his gaze burning into Bruce's back the longer he continued to stare at the projective computer before him. The tape that he had collected from the mission played on repeat, and truthfully, it was becoming painful for Jason having to rewatch it over and over.
Yes, he had been given strict orders to merely stay hidden within the shadows and report back to Batman with the intel he was instructed to gather, but Jason wanted to do more than be a sidekick to gather information.
âHow was that a mistake?â He retorted, pointing to the screen. âIf I hadnât gone, you would have never known what was happening down there.â
Finally, Bruce turned in his chair, his voice just as deep as always. Like a parent scolding his child - which was true to an extent.
"You're telling me that you found out what that whole ordeal was about?" He questioned, gesturing a hand to the screen. "Because it sure doesn't look like you do."
It angered Jason more than he would have liked to admit that Bruce was mostly right. The most Jason knew was that the Joker was up to something, but when was he not? The best possible answer he got was that he has an alliance of some sort. You seemed to be around his age, possibly younger, and yet you were one of the most skilled fighters he's fought. You were experienced, and no doubt deadly.
His nose ached from the harsh punch that you had thrown, the wet rag that was now soaked with crimson blood was discarded beside him.
When Bruce noticed his silence, he continued to ignore him from then on. His fingers dancing along the computer and leaving an uncomfortable silence that Jason wished to break.
Alfred walked in with a tray of coffee; something Bruce had waved him off to go and grab whilst he worked. Whilst the silence lingered, Alfred's gaze flickered up to the screen of the masked girl.
"I do not recognize this criminal," Alfred spoke as he settled the tray down. "Have we seen this girl before?"
Bruce shook his head, a frown etched on his features. "No, but there have been witnesses. Apparently, she's only shown up around Gotham the past two months."
Alfred hummed. âAnd what does this criminal do, exactly?â
Bruce pushed his body away from the desk with a long sigh, his brows still pinched into a deep frown as his hand dragged down his face. âJasonâs body cam just managed to pick up a little of their conversation before she ran off. The Joker is in on this, too. She knows him, and well.â
Jason's curiosity was piqued. What was the Joker's intentions, now? Surely it was another scheme to lure Batman into a trap.
âPerhaps another laughing gas?â Alfred suggested as he glanced over at Jason, gesturing toward the tea as he offered to pour some, but Jason shook his head.
"Not a laughing gas," Jason concluded, digging into the suit that he still wore. He pulled out the familiar vial that he had managed to snatch from the masked girl, holding it up for everybody's view. "I'm thinking maybe a drug, or maybe some sort of crazy mutation serum!" He looked between the two, a satisfied smirk on his face.
Bruce remained silent for a moment, his gaze never leaving the vial in his son's hand. Jason was expecting praise, a congratulations, maybe even a pat on the back and allowed more freedom whilst on patrol. But Bruce's face remained stoic.
"Jason," he started, tone very far from what he had expected. Was it anger? Disappointment? Shock?
He was quick to saunter over and take the vial from his hand, analyzing it carefully as he twisted it in his grasp.
With a shake of his head, his frown deepened. If that were even possible. He placed the vial carefully onto the desk beside the computer.
"You're too reckless," he began. "Not only did you go against my orders, but now you are involved with a crime much deeper than what you can handle. You've put yourself in danger. And not only yourself," he pointed to the screen again. "But you got her in danger, too."
Jason felt his anger boil, ready to spill over any second. Could Bruce not see his success for once? Could he not give him the approval he desperately wished for? It was risky, but he had got the job done.
"I did what I had to," he defended, the anger evident in his voice as he took a step closer.
Bruce quickly snapped back. "And what you did was wrong."
A pause.
"Next time something like this happens, you follow my order... otherwise the title of Robin goes to somebody else."
In the heat of his rage, Jason stormed past both Bruce and Alfred and made his way out of the Batcave, cape flowing behind him with every long stride. Before the door had slammed shut, he just managed to hear a little of Alfred's voice.
"They're both just children, Master Wayne," he tried. "Much like you once were."
"I can't have him making more mistakes."
A harsh slap landed against your cheek, your head snapping to the side from the force. The burning sensation left behind caused for your eyes to sting with tears, your vision blurred.
His maniacal laughter was all you could hear despite the ringing in your ears, and you didn't fail to notice the very evident annoyance behind each deep inhale of laughter.
"I can't believe it!" Joker paced. "You really let that little rodent slip past your fingers, just like that? My, my, I might have placed just a little too much faith in you."
He crouched down before you, masking a frown as his thumb came up to swipe the blood from your lip. Your tongue darted out to swipe at the cut he had left, the metallic taste lingering in your mouth.
"I must say I am very disappointed," Joker hummed, but oddly enough his hand came to rest on your shoulder, like an odd way of comforting. "But that's why there's always room to learn from mistakes!"
The vial that you were sent to retrieve merely a few hours ago was no longer tucked away safely in your pocket.
You had only realized once you were in front of Joker's latest warehouse that he used as a current hideout, your hands searching every pocket, each shoe, in search for the vial. Robin had managed to slip it out without you noticing, and it enraged you.
He was fast, skilled, and very obviously sly. Although it was a tough fight, it brought some adrenaline and excitement into your night. Something you had craved for a while.
Joker clicked his tongue in thought, now sat on a torn couch across from you with his leg propped up on his knee.
"You'll make it up to me, right, my little clown?" his tone was almost mocking. "Perhaps next time you might run into the little birdy again, oh, that would spice things up!"
You inhaled a shaky breath. "I'll get it back," you said, but he waved you off.
"Nah, I'll just get the doc to make me a new one. Although, we can't afford any more mistakes now, can we, Y/N?"
He looked at you expectingly, dread washing over you the longer his gaze pierced your own.
"No, we can't."
"That's my girl!" He clapped his hands. "Harley! Come get the poor girl cleaned up, will ya? She looks like she's been through hell!" He let out a loud cackle at what he considered a joke, slapping his knee.
Harley's head popped from around the corner of the cracked wall, pigtails swinging with every movement she made. With one look at you, she was rushing over.
"Puddin, what happened?" She practically squealed, ushering you to stand up, though the small smile never left her lips. "Oh dear, let's get you all nice and cleaned up!"
The bathroom that she had practically dragged you into smelt of urine and had broken tiles scattered across the floor. Mold was growing along the ceiling and puddles of water crowded at the base of the sink. You had to hold back the look of disgust when Harley took a small rag and wet it under some water.
It wasn't long until Harley was finally finished with dabbing your split lip with the cold water and tending to the few cuts you had littered over your flesh. It was a poorly done job, but the moment you had got to step into your own small room - a storage space that barely managed to fit the worn mattress you used to sleep on, you were instantly flopping down.
It was quiet and dark, but nothing that you weren't already used to. You enjoyed having some time away from the two clowns, after all.
Looking over, you reached for the same small bear that you've kept over the years, only now it wasn't as soft as it used to be, and the familiar smell of your old home was gone from the fur. Instead, it was now covered in dirt and grime. A button had been sewn on poorly as an eye after the last had fallen off, and its right arm was barely hanging on by a thread. Still, you carefully held it against your body as you laid on your side, alone and tense.
Your mind refused to settle, thoughts swarming with the Robin boy who had managed to make your night go from alright to horrific in only a few hours.
He had outplayed you - tricked you - and still somehow, he had managed to get your mind swimming. Your fight was oddly thrilling, and it confused you with his cocky comments. Batman was nowhere to be seen, meaning that Robin had let you go. Why?
Your knuckles had tightened their hold on the bear, a reminder of your life before any of this had happened. You didn't dwell on it, knowing that there was no way back. But the sadness lingered once you buried your face into the soft fur, allowing for the sleep to catch up to you. As usual it was never a peaceful one, but instead filled with nightmares and an all too familiar wide grin.

Au where Redhoodâs âIâm not your son anymore, Batmanâ is contagious.
Aka: Tim Drake sees Jason, his favorite Robin, decide that Batman isnât cool anymore.
Warnin: violent stuff ahead, per usual for Red Hood. Talk of murder and disability, and full body paralysis caused intentionally.
Tim is peer pressured. If Jason thinks Batman isnât cool? That no-kill rules are getting in the way? Well then maybe Tim should listen.
Tim changes his name to Red Robin, to match Red Hoodâs theme.
Jason finds himself with a tiny stalker who is absolutely fine with murder. Killing criminals to clean up gothams streets? Heads in bags? Jason, that sounds brilliant. Sign Tim up.
Jason realizes this is a chance to get back at Batman. Corrupting the replacement Robin? Itâs a genius plan.
Meanwhile, Batman has no idea Red Hood is Jason.
You think Tim told Bruce why exactly he was leaving? Jokes on you. Heâs a bat, and bats are notorious for communication issues.
From Batmanâs perspective, his Robin his son just ran off to go be a sidekick to some rouge. Could mind control be at play? Tim left an encrypted note that said âIâm not being mind controlled, Batman. Also, youâre not my dad.â Batman is skeptical, since the puzzle looks like something Tim would make (it took hours for Batman to decode). But âIâm not being mind controlledâ is what someone being mind controlled would say. Or worse, the mind control is preventing Tim from realizing heâs being mind controlled.
Batman is trying to lure Robin back using all the tricks. Baiting traps with Alfredâs cookies. Leaving really cool cases unsolved. Even asking the Justice League for help.
He even informs Nightwing of what happened.
Nightwing isnât absolutely against the murder-spree his two baby birds are on.
Heâs not going to join the murder. Killing isnât something he could ever do himself. But he gets it.
Dick did the research before even knowing Red Hoodâs identity. He knows hood only went after the truly corrupt. The ones that were unforgivable. Drug lords, human traffickers, all the worst kinds of predators.
Heâs surprised when Red Hood reveals his identity to Dick. Jason is trying to hold Tim back from too much murder, and decided to throw the feral child at Nightwing.
This meant revealing his identity. And it helps that maybe Jason was missing his brother.
Dick is now incredibly happy. He has his two younger brothers. Nothing could be better.
Sure, Batman is missing his son. But maybe Bruce deserves it a little bit?
Barbara is down to kill the clown.
Red Hood and Red Robin approach her with an elaborate plot to break into Arkham and murder the Joker. Since the Joker hurt Batgirl so badly, Red Robin argues, Oracle should he allowed to decide if she wants in on the revenge scheme.
And Oracle? She has a worse idea. Murder is alright, but did they suffer? Not really. Barbara decides to make the revenge personal: neck down paralysis. The Joker wonât be able to hurt anyone else. If Joker somehow heals? Then murder is acceptable. But having Joker watch his empire of chaos crumble around him as heâs helpless to stop it? Thatâs the revenge Barbara wants.
It means investing in better security for Arkham, to make sure Joker canât corrupt someone else like he did to Harley Quinn. It means making sure Raâs Al Ghul doesnât break in and heal the joker with Lazarus water.
Jason is consoled by the fact that before paralyzing the clown, he gets to beat him with a crowbar.

Jason Todd x Jinx! reader Chapter 5
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/3b7dc40f2a6f3c1241a308c8ecdf59db/fc0811775963b86b-ac/s540x810/35c4b7da150ae80f63fe6f7a2e9856ce980fd89f.jpg)
Your Robin
"Batman and Jinx."
"Jinx and Batman."
"We'll work on it."
That was the last time you'd seen Robin. It's been roughly two years since then. It was a mystery amongst vigilantes and villains alike. One day Batman has his sidekick, the next they both go missing for months. When the Bat did resurface it was alone. Until now.
Your heart soared seeing the familiar color palette of the Bird. Only for it to sink when you came face to face with a stranger. Mask or no it didn't take a genius to notice the obvious differences in boys. This one was much smaller. Shorter, thinner, and relied more on redirecting than raw strength. Your Robin was tall, built, and liked to punch his problems.
Though props to the Bat, they appeared to be roughly the same age. Or rather what age your Robin should be, assuming he isn't dead. You frowned at the thought. No. He wasn't allowed to die. He has to become the new Batman like you planned.
This Robin wasn't as fun to banter with either. He lacked the dry sarcasm you were accustomed to. This one was too bright eyed.
You sat next to a gargoyle, overlooking the city. You sighed. "Where are you, Boy Wonder?"
"Aw, you missed me?"
"Not you, replacement." You didn't have to turn around to know he felt insulted by the term.
You weren't sure of the particulars when it came to Batman and his sidekicks but you were nothing if not loyal.
"You gonna come quietly or do we have to do this the hard way?"
From the corner of your eye you saw the boy brandish a bo staff. Another reason to dislike him. This one didn't even get his hands dirty.
"Please. As if you could catch me."
You'd taken Robin's - your Robin - words to heart. You'd been practicing your hand to hand combat these past few years. More importantly, you've been honing your skills.
You clicked the button of your remote trigger. Several colorful smoke bombs bursted to life around you. By the time Robin cleared the smoke from his vision you were gone. You had no reason to linger here. He's no fun.
You sat, tinkering away, at your workbench. Bomb after bomb, always decorated in colorful scribbles. This one resembles a bird. Didn't take a psychologist to figure out you'd grown attached to the masked boy. Didn't stop her from pointing it out though.
"You still mopin' around in here?"
Harley skipped into your room, bells jingling. She came to a quiet stop at your desk. You looked up with a sullen face.
"Come on, little J. Don't gimme those puppy dog eyes." She sat down next to you. "I know you miss your playmate but you'll find someone new to explode in no time!"
"But he's my rival. The Batman to my Joker."
"I hate seein' you so down... Tell ya what, why don't we have a girls night? Just you and me." Her grin grew wider. "We can hit the town! Try out those new glitter bombs you been workin' on?"
You gave a melancholic smile.
"That's the spirit!"
You spent that night covered in stolen jewelry and sparkles. One of your most fond memories. Harley had a more understanding side to her than Joker. A gentler one. You admired her for that.
You eventually did move on from your Robin blues. Of course you still miss him, but you knew it was out of your control. You still didn't take to the new Boy Wonder. Batman himself grew on you however. You talked, he pretended to ignore you, but given he always answered your questions of lesser importance you knew he was listening.
You'd also become better acquainted with your fellow villains. You especially like Selina - Catwoman - she always gave the shiniest gifts. Bane was cool too. For someone so roided up he made for a decent conversationalist.
Riddler could drop dead.
Man thinks he's funny. He's not.
You'd also made a name for yourself. People knew that with the name Jinx came explosions and spray paint. Legally you were labeled a terrorist. You blow up one banking building and accidentally erase thousands of credit card debts and SUDDENLY you're an activist. Not your goal but a happy coincidence nevertheless.
Joker was certainly pleased. You were a harbinger of destruction and chaos after all. You and your dysfunctional, mad family were on top of the world.
But even still, between everything at home being good (or at least what you're used to) and being one of the most notorious figures in Gotham you still felt something was missing. You knew what it was. Who it was. The only friend you'd ever had. You missed Robin. Your Robin.
Little did you know far from where you sat in Gotham, half way across the world, a certain boy laid in a vat of green waters. Ready to be reborn.

Secrets: batfamily x ScarlettWitch!reader
The graphic is not mine, found it on pinterest.
Story requested by @p4inis - I know it's been ages, sorry! : Jason x scarlet witch fem reader? Sheâs best friend w dick and she secretly works with Batman then the boys found out when she entered the bat cave and tried to pick a fight with Batman ?
***
âBRUCE!â the very angry voice echoed through the stone walls of the batcave and very angry girl came to the view âWhat the hell?!â
âY/N?â Jason stood up from his chair, shock on his face âWhat are you doing here?â
âAnd more importantly, how did you get here?â Dick was equally as surprised as his brother.
âCan someone explain to me, who is this girl?â Damian frowned.
Let me stop the story right here and give you a bit of context.
Y/N Y/L/N, born and raised in Gotham were best friend with Dick Grayson from the day he arrived at the city. Poor boy, who just lost his parents were just wondering around the street, all by himself, moody and clearly looking for trouble. Y/N was getting back from school when she encountered him, brooding in one of the alleys, Â absentmindedly kicking a trash can while muttering something to himself. In any other circumstances, she would just walk past him, but something inside her told her to stop and she listened to that little voice, taking her time in observing the boy with her eyes slightly narrowed and head tilted.
âToo much on your mind?â she finally asked after a while of hesitation
âYes.â He muttered not even looking up at her
âNeed a pair of ears to listen to your sad story?â
âWhy do you care?â Dickâs eyes landed on her face âyou donât know me.â
âI donât. But I can tell you are in need of a friend. Iâm Y/N.â she took a few steps forward and extended her hand
âDick.â The boy shook it hesitantly
âReally?â she smiled lightly at the name he gave her
âYes.â His tone became harsher.
âOk, all right, no hard feelings there, Dick.â Y/N raised her hands in defense âwait, youâre the Wayneâs kid.â
âHow do you know?â
âIâŠ.. I donât knowâŠ.. I just sort of sensed that.â
âSensed? Is there anyone normal in this city?â Dick rolled his eyes
âHey! Careful there, boy! I might take offence.â
âSorry. Iâm not really used to people dressed like clowns and bats running around the streets and citizens to have superpowers.â
â What can I say? Welcome to Gotham, Dick.â
And that was how their friendship started and lasted for years. However, there was one thing Y/N never told Dick. She did have powers. Maybe not at the time when they met, but when she was somewhere around 18 they started to show. Out of nowhere, she could hear peopleâs thoughts, the objects around her started to move and when she was nervous or scared the air around her was literally turning red. Oh, and sometimes, people around her saw the things she wanted them to â some sort of illusions. That was when her mother told her that she was holding the power of a Scarlett Witch and poor girl did not like it at all. In the city of freaks and criminals she always prided herself on being normal, ordinary, usual. She never wanted any skills. To be honest, she got scared and due to her conflicted emotions her powers started causing troubles. The only option was to leave Gotham for a while and learn how to get it under control. Her mother, a witch herself, contacted some old friends and Y/N was sent to train with the old order of sorceresses.
She got back after a whole year, finding Gotham in worse condition than ever. From what she learned in a quick time, there was a new vigilante, calling himself the Red Hood running around and causing havoc. Â One time, when she focused, she got into his mind, feeling all the rage and pain and fear and regret. She saw his story of how he was killed by Joker and brought back to life. All the conflict he had with Batman, because apparently they were a family once, and at some point in life he was his sidekick, Robin. She broke this mind connection before finding out the real identities of anyone. That was private and she never wanted to know. Second thing was Dick. Their contact during the last year was a bit limited, since while her training she was not exactly allowed to use phone and internet so they rarely talked and when she returned, the girl found out that Dick left Gotham and resided in Bludhaven. Third thing was Batmanâs newest sidekick, apparently calling himself Red Robin, who was on her tail, treating her like some sort of threat. After a month of playing cat and mouse with him, she got inside his head and practically commanded him to meet her so they could talk without acting like kids.
âWhat do you want with me?â they were standing in front of each other on the rooftop surrounded by Gothamâs darkness.
âThe question is, why is someone like you just sitting around doing nothing?â he retorted
âIâm sorry. Someone like me?â she scoffed âwho do you think I am?â
âPlease. Youâre not so hard to crack.â Y/N raised an eyebrow at him waiting for some more explanation âyou are Scarlett Witch. You have so many crazy level skills, so why are you passive if you could do so much good for this city?â
âYou remind me of someone from my past, you know. Someone who practically called me a freak the first day we met.â
âI never said you were a freak.â
âNo. No you did not. And I am not. At least, not anymore that I learned how to control my abilities I never asked for. âŠ.â she hesitated âNow. I am not going to go inside your head, but I strongly suggest you to tell me the truth why you were on my tail, lately.â
Red Robin sighed deeply considering what words to choose to reveal to her the real reason behind his action. Clearly this girl couldnât be deceived with half-truth.
 âItâs Batman.â
âBatman? What does your boss have to do with it?â
âHeâs not my boss. But he wants to be yours.â
âIâm not planning on becoming a sidekick of his.â She scoffed âIf anything I work alone.â
â Just listen to me, all right? Let me convince you.â
âYou entertain me, Red Robin. You know, I was fairly familiar with your predecessors. The original Robin tried to save my ass from the assaulters once, the second bumped into me while chasing the robbers. They both seemed âŠ. too enthusiastic and energetic. It can cause trouble at times. You seem more âŠ. rational. Wiser. And I appreciate that, so Iâll listen to you. Tell me then, what can Batman possibly offer me to join him in his work?â       Â
He convinced her, talking about the people and doing good work and being trained by the Batman himself. He offered her wide range of freedom, so she wouldnât have to be a sidekick. He talked and talked about how the joint efforts can bring good effect. He might have also slipped something about admiring her and the things she can do and how he himself would like the opportunity to work with her. And she agreed, keeping her alliance with Red Robin and Batman a secret.
After making such important choice, she realized it would be nice to get back in touch with Dick so she simply called him and they rebuilt their friendship. They even went far enough to reveal their other identities to each other.
âWait, you were the original Robin?!â Â her eyes went wide upon hearing the news âyou were the one who tried to save me during that assault?! Damn it, Dick.â
âYou never really needed my help.â He shrugged ânow I know why. Scarlett Witch, huh? Makes sense. What exactly can you do apart from getting inside peopleâs heads?â
However, she never told him she was secretly working with his foster father.
Not when during one of the mission she found out that Red Hood real identity was Jason Todd and he was in fact Bruceâs son and Dickâs brother.
Not when she fell in love with such brother.
Not when she started working with the latest Robin aka Damian.
Not when one time Dick asked her to join him on the mission.
Not when he suggested she could be a part of bat team, even if the team already consisted of too many people who tended to fight with one another (mostly Dick and Jason).
She kept in the dark and it was getting harder to control who knew what about her. Dick and Jason were aware of her real name and her alias, but not that she was occasional Batmanâs partner. Damian knew only the Scarlett Witch and working with Batman part and Tim knew everything, of course while Cass, Steph and Babs knew her only as Y/N, their civilian friend. It was crazy.
Until the day when Bruce broke his promise of giving her mission freedom and she got really angry. Despite their agreement, Batman interfered in Scarlett Witchâs contacts on the drug trafficking causing the informants to fled from the city and her operation went south.
âGet out of my way!â she yelled when both Dick and Jason blocked her way demanding some explanation.
âY/N. why donât you just calm down a little, all right?â Dick started, trying his best not to worsen the situation. After all she was the freaking Scarlett Witch. She could have them on the ground wincing in pain within seconds. It was better not to mess with her
âYeah, I will calm down right after the freaking Batman keep his promises!â she yelled
âWait, what? What promises? I donât get itâŠ..â Damian frowned again âFather, who is this girl?â
âLeave us.â Bruce spoke calmly
âWhat is going on here?â Tim emerged from the door and as his eyes landed on Y/N he understood everything  âOh, shitâŠ..â
âCan someone tell meâŠ..?â
âShut up Damian!â Jason, Dick and Y/N yelled in unison
âI said: leave us.â Bruce repeated in his most stern tone, yet no one paid attention to him anymore
âI donât understand half of whatâs happening but Iâm not leavingâ Jason laughed  âIf my girl goes full Scarlett Witch on Bruce Iâd love to see it.â He moved towards Y/N and kissed her cheek making her blush a bit. âDonât hold back, babe. I like that wild side of yours.â He smirked
âStop it, Jace!â she tried to rid herself of him
âWait. SHES THE SCARLETT WITCH!?â Damian exclaimed âbut she looks soâŠ.. ordinary.â
âWATCH YOUR TONGUE, DEMON!â
âBefore someone get hurtâŠ.â Dick started blocking Jason and Damian from killing each other
âLET ME GO DICKHEAD! HE JUST OFFENDED MY GIRLFRIEND!â
â I JUST STATED THE OBVIOUS! SHE LOOKS NORMAL!â
âTHAT IS A STEP UP FROM HOW YOU LOOK!â
âDo you work with Bruce Y/n? I mean, Batman? Why didnât you tell me?â Dickâs finally caught up on the situation and glanced at his best friend with hurt expression.
âYou have always been a bad detective, Dick. Of course she works with Batman. I was the one who offered her this position.â Tim smirked
âYOU DID WHAT?!â
âIt was my ideaâŠ..â
âYOU GOT HER INVOLVED IN THIS SHIT!?â
Now, everyone was fighting everyone and it was hard to tell when all of this started. Y/N and Bruce were just standing in the middle of the havoc, eyes switching between all of the boys with despair and embarrassment (Bruce) and disbelief and amusement (Y/N).
âYou know, Bruce, I came here to confront you about interfering with my operation, but I donât think I am angry anymore.â
âI can see. However, I wanted to tell you, that I got you the information you needed to finish it.â
âReally, you did? How?â she turned slightly from the scene in front of her and looked straight at Bruce
âA bit of intimidation and mention of powerful woman coming after anyone who refused to cooperate.â
âA powerful woman, huh?â
âCatwoman, of course.â
âOf courseâ she nodded âThank you, Bruce. Business with you is âŠ. tolerable, I guess.â
âBut weâre not partners.â He muttered
âObviouslyâ she smirked ânever were, never will be.â They were both liars.
âDo you think we should stop the boys from killing each other?â Bruce wondered
âDo you think we can?â
âWell, you are the Witch here. As much as I hate magic, canât you do something?â
âDid you see them?â Y/N pointed towards the four unhinged figures yelling at each other âthatâs beyond my level of expertise.â
âSoâŠ. we just leave?â
âYes. Yes, we justâŠ. leave. They will sort it out by themselves, right?â
âAnd itâs not because we are terrified of what they can doâŠ..â Bruce muttered retreating backwards
âAbsolutely notâŠ.. We just should discuss the case.â
âYes. We should discuss the case.â
âCause itâs really important.â
âVital.â
âAnd it definitely canât wait.â
âShall we then?â Bruce pointed toward the exit and without any further ado they both disappeared from the cave leaving boys to deal with their banter themselves.

Reverse Robins AU but the adoption order stays the same
Bruce had been Batman for around 2 decades when he witnessed the Graysons fall. He takes in little 8-year-old Dick Grayson and they become Batman & Robin a couple of months later.
Jason still tried to steal the Batmobileâs tires, but this time Dick is there with Bruce. And Dick immediately goes: friend?! Because whoâs cooler than an older boy who has the audacity to steal your dadâs crime-fighting tires? Bruce doesnât immediately take him in but he does adopt him soon after nonetheless. A year later, Batman gains a new sidekick partner.
Tim still puts together the Batsâ IDs by recognizing Robinâs quadruple somersault. He keeps this info to himself but his fatherâs death breaks something in him and he becomes reckless and directionless. Heâs saved by one of the Bats, maybe little 11 year old Robin, and he just blurts out his name. He tells him how he was at the Graysonsâ last show, how he and his parents were such huge fans. Bruce shows up but itâs too late, Dickâs already attached to his new big brother.
This teenager is obviously a threat, he knows their secret identities, but Bruce can see a bit of himself in the lost young man in front of him. Heâs around the same age he was when he made the choice that changed his life forever. And having two young boys in his life, two young heroes, he canât help but want to help Tim. It doesnât hurt that the kidâs obviously smart and in good shape. A year later, Batman gains another partner.
Damian was never sent to Bruce, he stayed with the League. Eventually, he and Talia killed Raâs. He becomes Taliaâs right-hand but he doesnât want it. Heâs so disinterested in his own life and Talia, for all her flaws, loves her son. She tells him to leave, to âfind himself or whatever it is young people doâ and so Damian does. He leaves Nanda Parbat at ~18 and travels.
Damian has many skills, but he feels heâs best at killing people, so it doesnât take long for him to take up contracts. Travelingâs fun and all but he grew restless. He does this for years, he makes a name for himself outside of being an AlâGhul. And heâs visited Gotham, of course he has, but he doesnât long for Bruceâs approval. He isnât a child, he isnât good person, and he isnât a Wayne. Bruce means nothing to him, not really he doesnât think Bruce would ever want him.
So, he keeps an ear out for news regarding the Bats. He visits Gotham every time he learns of a new child but he never allows himself to be noticed. One day, he hears whispers of the Wayne children being in Ethiopia of all places and he canât help but seek them out. He gets there in time to put the Joker down permanently and prevent any lasting damage to any of them. Theyâre all taken by this mysterious savior to varying degrees (Timâs the most cautious), but Dick is especially enthusiastic.
They manage to distract Damian long time enough for Bruce to get there. The long await meeting occurs and Damian decides fuck it, might as well let his father know about him. Bruce has more than enough children to fuss over and heâs an adult with his own life completely separate from Bruce, no need to make a big deal out of it. It is a big deal and Bruce is in shock and infuriated and heartbroken about his very much adult son being kept from him all this time.
As much as Bruce begs, Damian doesnât go back to Gotham with them. Regardless, he keeps up his occasional visits and stays out of sight. Surprisingly, or maybe not, Dick is the first to find him out. And Dick, amazing human bean that he is, grows on Damian with time and interactions. Heâs impressed by this child his father took in and he canât help but want to teach him a few moves. Bruce wasnât as oblivious to these meetings as he made himself seem, but he knows Damian isnât interested in Bruce being his father. Heâs hoping he can bridge this gap between them with Dick.
It works.

I donât normally share personal projects here but I'm happy with the art so why not. Anyway these are some character concepts for a game pitch assignment I've been working on. It's still very much in its infancy but the idea is a dating sim/visual novel-style game based around the concept of a support group for the henchmen of supervillains, called "Henchman Anonymous."
You-- the player-- are the familiar to Carmilla de Villeneuve, the Vampire Princess (pictured left). No, she isn't royalty. Yes, you're pretty sure she stole her name from popular vampire media. But yes, she's actually a vampire, a vampire supervillain more specifically, and a very mediocre one at that. After years of thankless work executing her extravagantly stupid schemes (that might also just be a wee bit genius) and styling her finger waves you've about had it. That's what Henchman Anonymous is for, breaking up with your abusive boss! Only one issue you might sort of actually be a bit in love with her... Perhaps what you need is a little help getting over her.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2d095a8391974551cfca31d35207637b/fdb9266bb9de5f59-85/s540x810/7d3ff91fe1bbffaa0d0f8e5ad9bb9e34270bb74c.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/863f52deaeec9e723d5549b710ae32f2/fdb9266bb9de5f59-ef/s540x810/f1a6aec125a4c4e610c50332be36d407408d22e4.jpg)
As of right now I only have two main routes planned.
Route #1: AmĂ©lie is one of Ring Master's many henchmen and she is also her daughter. Let's just say crime runs in the family, as in they're literally a crime family. AmĂ©lie is the fourth eldest of eight, meaning her smack dab in the middle and often overlooked. Between the size of her family and her mother's controlling tendencies, AmĂ©lie feels more than a little stifled. She hopes that Henchmen Anonymous will help her break free and lead a normal life. It's too bad her boss just happens to be your boss' villain rivalâ not that Ring Master knows that.
Route #2: Dorian is a man of mystery, well it's more accurate to say he's a stubborn jerk who refuses to share anything, despite being in a support group. You swear he looks familiar though. Little do you know the reason Dorian won't talk is because he's not-so-secretly the sidekick to the Ebony Knight-- your city's resident vigilante-- who's undercover trying to get insider information on supervillains so that maybe his boss will fully take him under his wing. Unfortunately for you, the reason he looks so familiar is that the Ebony Knight might just be Carmilla's nemesis and absolute obsession. (Lego Batman and Lego Joker vibes)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b69a97da0bac5a88a16ddee71f6e9ca4/fdb9266bb9de5f59-c2/s540x810/d20a3b97cabf2b582968489b9423f255d7500938.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/fc254d0ff1f847252bd861ffa3048d0a/fdb9266bb9de5f59-b9/s540x810/bf4f5242e3bbf3377200e6d5f515dd9351d9823c.jpg)
Main Route:
Ideally, I would like to have a non-romance-based route for those who want to explore the plots of both stories. This route would allow players to learn about both Amélie and Dorian's connections to Carmilla and allow you to befriend them. There are also a couple secondary non-romanceable characters that I haven't mentioned because I don't have concepts drawn up for them that would get more emphasis. I haven't decided if it would be something activated by not scoring high enough with either of the romanceable characters or if it's something I would let players choose.
Secret Route:
In my head, I'm calling this the "I can fix her" route, because that's basically what it is. It would focus on getting to know Carmilla. In all versions of the story, there would ideally be a plot about learning to set boundaries with Carmilla, but this secret route would basically allow you to then romance her. Unlike the other routes, Carmilla wouldn't be something you could choose, you'd have to earn it through the main route.
Notes on the designs:
Carmilla died in the 50's and is old Hollywood-inspired, specifically Marilyn Monroe who I used as a clothing reference. Overall I wanted this whole series to read very campy and lean into tropes, so I tried to also capture as many vampire motifs as I could. While she loves to look glamorous she's actually not all that good at styling herself. I sort of based her on the wwdits vampire logic of them being dated but not completely tied down to whatever century they died in. Committing to the aesthetic is the most important factor.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2ad1f74a38936a945867601f837e08a8/fdb9266bb9de5f59-e1/s540x810/802a105992a9e64be4648575e722608d307f8449.jpg)
Amélie is based on court jesters and is absolutely supposed to be a Harley Quinn knockoff. I mixed several eras for her clothing. Court jesters are associated mostly with being medieval so I pulled some references there with the headdress, which I heavily stylized to look like devil horns. The ribbons are a call back to the veils women used to wear. The collar and sleeves are more Elizabethan, while the stays are based on 18th century fashion. (I've been drawing too much ofmd fanart my bad everypony) Don't ask me where the chemise is, maybe it's cropped. For the bottom half I referenced DC comics silhouettes. It might also be worth mentioning that I was listening to Chappell Roan while drawing her initial designs, so that really carried over in the make-up, but I swear she was always going to be a redhead!
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/235d2e217b1e2d8e7600c72af54d6be3/fdb9266bb9de5f59-ca/s540x810/23e4b145b314930cfa9915fd0e464193af380df3.jpg)
Dorian's outfit I have to be so real about, I'm not super satisfied with. I wanted to do a more modern, street-wear look. The best way to describe the vibe I wanted to go for is "if DC's Nightwing were to try to style Marvel's Prowler." I wanted this sort of uptight, hyper-serious sidekick to dress like what he thought villains dressed like. So I opted to put him in stereotypical "bad boy" clothing; leather jacket, studded belts, fingerless gloves. I looked at a lot of Shadow the Hedgehog gijinka fanart. I don't hate what I came up with, but I definitely want to push the design more next time, really amp up the emo, bad boy-ness of it all.Â

some notes on the design of the game:
Because I'm still very early on in the hypothetical process I don't have backgrounds or specific graphic design elements selected. However, my initial idea would be to use the classic comic book style font with the text bar emulating speech bubbles-- well, closer to the bubbles they use for inner dialogue or establishing shots. I want to play up that comic book vibe.

Chapter 1 - Security breach
Note: My very own addition to Arkhamverse fics. The chapters would only loosely follow each other, so consider them to be more standalone ficlets. The reader is Catwoman's sidekick/adopted family with a bit of a background of her own. Special thanks to @thinkingofausername for discussing this fic with me. Adding @heavysighing-dreamyeyes @thesandsofelsweyr and @deimks post-posting.
Warnings: mentions of abuse and torture

You stalked through the dark and eerie corridors of Arkham Asylum. Weeks you have waited for this opportunity. After weeks of preparations, intel gathering and scratched furniture youâre finally here. You waited long for the perfect night, and it came today. The Arkham staff was busy locking Joker away and preening in front of Batman. They wonât even notice a small intervention. Funny, usually people would give everything to get out of Arkham Asylum. Not you though. There was someone locked away in the endless halls of the psych ward that you need to get out.
How could Selina be so careless?? Getting caught by Batman is one thing, but to get locked away in Arkham when usually she would outsmart the cops long before that would happen. Either sheâs getting sloppy, or thereâs more to it than meets the eye. More than worried though, youâre offended that sheâs keeping things from you.
You were thieves, sure. Lying, stealing, conniving bitches⊠but you always had each other's backs. Ever since she found you curled up in a wet cardboard box in one of the nameless alleyways of Gotham City. The thought of her keeping things from you had you feeling uneasy.
You slinked through the vent into the much nicer corridor than the rest of the hallowed rooms in Arkham. This was a hallway leading to the directorâs office. technically, you should have taken a different route through the ventilation system, but there was something you needed to take first. Youâre sure Sel would more than appreciate this.
With the cameras momentarily disabled, you needed to be quick but as you walked through the corridor you heard voices getting closer. Quick as a wink, you leaped onto the ceiling, claws holding onto the wooden pilaster. You hoped the guards were stupid enough to not look up, you donât have much time to play with them today.
Thankfully, the men armed with rifles stalked through the corridor pretty briskly, almost as if in a hurry.
Once the coast was clear, you dropped down onto the red carpet and looked around once more. Your tiny fleshlight dancing on the glass showcases.
You smiled in triumph once you found what you were looking for. The headpiece, the glasses, the gloves. All places are carefully arranged like a museum exhibit.
âOh, a pressure-sensitive iron mantle, whatever shall I do?â You whispered to yourself dramatically before drawing a quick circle in the glass with your claws. You quickly watched the newly made glass disc as it fell out and started stuffing Selinaâs belongings in your bag. Your pointy ears were perked for any upcoming sounds of danger but the place grew eerily quiet.
A shiver went down your spine. Somethingâs off. You couldnât tell what but it was like a quiet before the storm.
Just as you were to hop on the ventilation bus once more you heard a voice through the speakers, and youâre as hell not one of the directors.
âLadies and maniacs, I apologize for this interruption in your regular entertainmentâŠâ
Ah, fuck.
What seemed at first like the best night at infiltrating Arkham soon chose to be the worst. The asylum was on fire. There was no better way to say it. Joker took over the place and soon there were madmen everywhere. To your dismay, the shitstain also took over the security gates.
You kept running through the dark halls full of ingrates of the asylum and SWAT members, you werenât particularly thrilled with meeting either of those. You sidestepped the bodies, trying to not ponder too much about the slaughterhouse you found yourself in.
Finally, you enter the Decontamination room, holding cells should be closed now. You hear some yelling as the room fills with prisoners.
âOh, weâre gonna have with you, kitty cat.â One of them gives you a slimy sneer.
You smirk, âOh, so do I.â
They all run up to you expecting and easy fight. Soon the room fills with their wails as your claws slice their flesh to ribbons. A well-aimed kick to the chest of one sends you flying onto the head of another. You use his head as a lever from which you kick everyone standing close. You bounce back off of him and let on your feet with grace. You straighten up hands raised but theyâre all lying down. How disappointingâŠ
A shadow passed over you and you recognize the bat-shaped cape. Shit, hopefully, he didnât see you there. Relfexivelly you roll over to the next sliding door. The deeper you progress into the asylum the more you encounter green glowing graffiti of smiling faces.
Ugh. This is bad.
Thankfully sheâs not in Extreme Isolation. Letâs see⊠section B2âŠsection B2âŠ
Your ears pick up on the sound of quiet, ragged breathing. All night, you heard the blasting of sirens, the thudding of boots, and maddened shouting. This is a new one. You keep listening to the stranger's stumbling steps, accompanied by strange shuffling. He must be leaning up against the wall.
You lower your head and raise your hands in a fighting posture, whoever it is they better not try anything funny. You hear them stumble, followed by a loud thud, then a small pathetic whine. You roll your eyes and round the corner. Whoever it is, they are more likely to threaten rats scuttling around than you, you just quickly knock them up and head toâŠ
The moment your eyes lay on the stranger splayed on the floor, your stomach churns. Itâs a man, rather small and frail one if you had to guess by the way the asylum uniform hangs on his body. A mop of matted, black hair sits on top of his head. Whatever skin you can see is either red or purple. You tentatively step closer, almost scared of what horrible things will closer proximity give you. At the sound of your heel clicking against the iron flooring, the stranger shakily pulls his head up, one blood-soaked eye staring at you in horror. He starts writhing uncontrollably, probably trying to shuffle away from you, but his body is so brutalized that all he can do is fumble in place.
âHeyâŠheyâŠcalm down.â The soothing edge to your tone surprises even you, but it's hard to be intimidating when the man is so beaten up he might as well be a corpse.
Your words do not make him settle down, if anything, they agitate him even further. His movements get more erratic a quiet sobs that almost sound like a ânoâ fall from his mouth.
You sigh. I donât have time for this.
Nevertheless, you crouch in front of him, carefully placing your hands under his armpits to at least sit him against the wall. He tries to fight you, but there is no strength behind it. When you hold him so close, you note how bony he truly is.
âWhat the hell happened to you??â You mumble more to yourself than him, because at this point, you gave up hope of any conversation with him.
You grasp his chin, angling his face to get a good look at him. You try to keep your cool as you look upon a black eye so swollen you doubt he can see something, a broken nose, split lip, and sunken, bloodied mouth.
Your stomach lurches and you have to look away for a second, but then only draws your attention to the scarred arm desperately pawing at you. You notice a bloodied fingertip and upon closer inspection, you realize that this manâs nails were ripped off.
You have to squeeze your eyes for a moment, doing your hardest not to throw up or run away. Youâve seen your fair share of violence as Gothamâs criminal, but youâve never encountered such blatant brutality.
The manâs ragged breaths bring you back to the present. Without further thinking, you put down the small backpack you brought with you and start pulling out the first aid essentials. You brought those for Selina, in case sheâs roughened up from Gothamâs inmates, but whatever state sheâs in, you doubt itâs as bad as this guy.
Heâs mostly calm when you start wiping off the blood. No, not calm, unresponsive. Heâs whole body is slack and heâs looking miles away, as if heâs mentally in a different place. Considering the naked fear in his eyes, itâs probably not a good place.
But you canât do anything about that. Youâre not a trained therapist. Hell, youâre not a trained medic, but here you are, wasting away precious resources on someone you donât even know. Maybe he even wonât survive this night.
Yet, you continue. You find the reason behind his fall. His ankle is badly twisted. Thankfully you have experience with this type of injury.
âUh, hey⊠your ankle is broken. I have to set it back. Itâs uhâŠgonna hurt bad.â You shrug hopelessly because thereâs no point in lying to him. Still, he doesnât respond. You carefully lift his foot and place it against your thigh. You firmly grasp his ankle in one hand and his instep in the other and as quickly as you can, you twist. The bone falls back with a pop and he chokes out a painful wail. He tries to, at least. His scratched throat wonât allow more than broken wheezing. He probably wrecked his vocal cords from screaming and groaning.
You swallow bile in your throat and instead of dwelling on these thoughts, you start hauling him up. As you walk, you decide to drop this dude off somewhere safe, as safe as anywhere on Arkham island could be, and then speed off to Selina. Just a small detour. She spent two months at Arkham, she could wait another hour.
A bunch of criminals drop from the ceiling.
Or two.
Jason wasnât sure if the girl was real, or if she was just another hallucination born from his broken mind.
This whole day could be just a dream. When the clown didnât show up for his usual bound of torture, he assumed that the inmates of the asylum would take their turns with him. He had presented a perfect opportunity for anyone to have fun with him, with the injuries he sported from his last torture session, but the inmates he met on his way from his wing of the asylum, just passed him without even a glance. For whatever reason, that made his eyes sting with fresh tears. Heâs not worthy of even that after all. Batman left him for dead, and so did Joker. What had kept him from curling up in a ball and waiting for death?
Because he waited for death for months now, and it didnât come. Only pain pain and more pain on the top of sick games the clown played on him. He hoped that if not freedom he might as well end it on his own ends. Jason will greet the grim reaper halfway.
Instead of a skeleton with a scythe, he met a small girl with cat ears. And now said girl is throwing his barely functioning body onto a nearby hospital bed while Gotham's worst is running towards her with raised fists. Jason had to suppress the involuntary whimper that dragged its way through his throat. Too many times they walked up to him, tied to a chair, itching for a fight. This time, it wasnât his nose getting smashed in or his head put in a swivel.
He watched as you beat up every single man who approached you, body fluid, and shoulders relaxed. Like a dancer, or a cat. One man that got too close to him got his throat garroted by your whip and thrown away like a rag doll.
A glint in the corner of his eye caught his attention. One of the prisoners feigned unconsciousness while he pulled a knife, drawn to stab you in the back while you were preoccupied with his friends. With the strength he didnât know he had, Jason tackled the man with a yell. That surprised the ruffian enough to drop a knife, and he threw Jason to the ground like a pesky fly. Jay grunted in pain when his back hit the floor. The man stood over him but before he could do anything, a well-aimed kick pinned him to the wall beside Jason, and then he dropped to the ground.
âNice work! Weâll make a sidekick out of you yet.â
Your voice was sweet. The amused and carefree lilt was so out of this place. No one has spoken to him like this since the Clown caught him. No one has touched him without intent to hurt him. Yet here, you are, pulling him flush to your soft body and once again walking him somewhere.
âYouâŠreal?â He looks at you through the bruising of his eye.
You adjust him against your side as you sneer down at him, âYour knight in black leather, sweetheart.â
That was the last thing Jason heard before he lost consciousness.
Carrying an injured man is fucking hard. Carrying an injured, unconscious man is even harder. You seriously considered dropping him off multiple times, but every time, you decided against it considering how much work it took to get him so far.
No good deed goes unpunished.
The network stopped working a while ago, so you had to rely on orientation signs and a few screens that still worked. You rounded the corner at the utility room. Once you make it there it should be easy. Based on what you remember from extensive studying of Arkham infrastructure, you should appear at the east of the island. You were a few feet from the door when the speakers blasted the voice of that disgusting clown. His bullshit didnât phase you, the same canât be said about your companion. The moment Jokerâs deranged laughter reaches his ears, he completely freezes, and then starts trembling uncontrollably. It gets so intense he slips out of your grip and slides down the wall.
âHey! No no no, not now!â
You tried to tug him up, to get him moving. But it was like his soul left his body. His breathing grew more ragged, the trembling got even worse, and a thin sheen of cold sweat coated his entire body. The man was losing control right in front of you, and you were hopeless at what to do.
Sudden frustration rose in your chest. Sel is somewhere out there, maybe hurt, definitely scared, even if she wouldnât admit it. And youâre losing time with a man who canât evenâŠ
Because the guy decided to lose it right under the corridor lightning, itâs the first time you see his face properly. His head lols down in defeat and thatâs when you notice the letter J branded on his cheek. Fresh blood oozing from the wound, the flesh around it red and puckered. Suddenly things clicked into place. What other sick fuck would brand their name upon their victim's flesh? Several actually, at least when it comes to Gotham. But you knew only one whose name started with J. Your frustration went away.
âListen to me⊠erm⊠whatâs your name again?â No answer.
You grasp his shaking shoulders and shake him gently.
âYou need to knock out of it. Weâre almost out.â You try to sound as encouraging as possible, but heâs not moving or saying anything.
Instead of shaking him, you opt for taking his face in your hands.
âLook at me. Breathe.â Heâs looking at you, but he doesnât see you, eyes glazed over, bloody mouth slack-jawed.
Youâre looking at this man, this boy, and wonder if heâll ever get over the horrors he experienced in this place. If thereâs even anything you can do to bring him back at this point.
Hopeless about what to do, you resort to the last thing that comes to your mind.
You kiss him.
Itâs not fun, with all the blood and missing teeth, but despite it all, you notice his lips are stupidly soft and plump for an Arkham inmate.
At first, nothing happens. The shaking and labored breathing stops. You think he lost consciousness again, but when you pull away, his eyes are clear and present and heâs staring right at you.
âNow. Lets. Go.â You growl firmly as you wipe his blood from the corner of your mouth and the boy is in too much stupor to protest. He lets you take his hand and drag him towards the door.
When the cold, salty air hits your face, you almost collapse and your feet from relief. But at least one of you has to be the stable one. You take him by the shoulders and sit him on one of the concrete blocks lying around.
âHave you any idea how much time I lost because of you?!â You nagged him even as you pulled a water bottle out of your bag and pressed it to his lips.
âIf you get out of here, you owe me big time.â
The guy is probably still recovering from that kiss because he was unresponsive again. At least this time you knew he was sane.
You sigh. No point standing there bitching.
âEither hide till sunrise or go to the port and sneak onto the boat. Think you can manage that? Scratch that, you donât have any choice. I canât coddle you anymore. Iâm not here to be someoneâs savior. I mean I am but not⊠you.â
You turn around if you take a shortcut over the buildings roofs, you should drop down to Selinaâs cell unit. Hopefully, she hasnât met Crock or Clayface on her way out.
Of course, the moment you turn away is the moment he decides to speak.
âYour⊠name?â
Your name? You do have one of those. The one you use as you scale rooftops and lockpick safes and break out dumb cat burglars.
With a cock of a hip and wink you blow him one last kiss.
âStray.â

Today in "I know we bust on comics a lot around here but there are still plenty of comics worth your time," I think Robin Lives is off to a promising start!
Also, I have to say, I found myself comparing it to Three Jokers. For one thing, it seems like much more of an examination of trauma than Three Jokers was purported to be. For another, while Three Jokers had me doubting that Geoff Johns really read The Killing Joke, Robin Lives feels like JM DeMatteis gives a crap about what actually happened in "Death in the Family."
But my petty grudges aside, here's what I liked about Robin Lives #1, with lots of spoilers. (And images of child murder and such, obviously.)
Unless there are shenanigans later, Joker definitely dies on the very first page.

Falls at Bruce's feet. Aw. :(
So this presents to us an instant mystery! Was Bruce responsible? Or was it Jason? Someone else entirely? Looks like the answer will be in three more issues. For now, we flash back to the aftermath of Jason's near-death.
DeMatteis deals with Joker's infamous ambassadorship by simply⊠taking it away. Which is pretty funny to me.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4cad7d098adddfa75aeb9cd51b42d12d/070be320bbe17eb3-e3/s540x810/4756c10b46ae0f0e75937bc3a4bf2c5dbe075547.jpg)
"Honestly, we were coming off a pretty wild party when we made that decision. Who knows what we were thinking? Hahaha, no hard feelings, rightâ What's that gas??"
I should note the narration in the purple box, which starts before this scene. Halfway through the issue, we learn that this story is being narrated by Dr. Saraswati Dev (aka Sara), a trauma doctor that Bruce hires for Jason. As we read what happens in this deviation from canon, she examines how we should view people who do such terrible things when their own lives and actions are affected by mental illness, their own trauma, and so on. It's an admittedly blunt story-telling tactic, spelling out the nuance for the reader, but I don't mind it, and it tells us that this version of Jason's story won't end cleanly.
Sara also clearly knows much more about Batman and his sidekicks than the average civilian, which raises the question of how she gets so involved in their lives. I'm hoping it's not because she becomes a love interest⊠but then again if that's presented as one of Bruce's screwed up mistakes, that has potential!
Anyway, as reviewed in a previous post, Joker was uneasy about killing Jason from the start, and that doesn't change in this version. When Bruce rescues the Iranian representatives, Joker tries to downplay what he did.

Hee hee, "Batsy-boo."
Joker can't escape for long, though.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/00eb52b286747c0a669f8e7fb5e2c4b0/070be320bbe17eb3-b4/s540x810/41417b86a4c33c6a50a985ceddf4bb868d0de5d4.jpg)
And I have to pause here to note that this scene is reminiscent of the climax in the "Going Sane" storyline, which DeMatteis also wrote.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/d439bdd19b07699a5289df6e6fc5ba17/070be320bbe17eb3-fd/s540x810/3d82d378990cd122edf4c66d4c7f1af886c00c6e.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/05ce76fb5742215646bf918b61db47ee/070be320bbe17eb3-1a/s640x960/2047e4044c6fe3c2fa976100e9daa4cd1e27bb70.jpg)
[Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #68]
There are differences in the scenarios, of course, but the other thing about "Going Sane" is that Joker/Joseph repeatedly refers to the urge to return to his former self as drowning.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/f1d818e33fcfa4097b8dc6e5dbbea36b/070be320bbe17eb3-f6/s640x960/0528076c48db596060976c669ed71ca7744807ce.jpg)
[Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #66]
So in Robin Lives, it adds an extra kick when Bruce overturns Joker's boat and then stands by as Joker drowns.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/fe0925ad6a8781814593327804179d25/070be320bbe17eb3-98/s540x810/ac7be6362d511e9291277666cacf3833aa387f2b.jpg)
Oh god that feeling when your secret fears come to fruition
But don't worry!
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/fe26c3f2e0f56fe2a0e5c98a9c6679c2/070be320bbe17eb3-b6/s540x810/ba2ea119a041c2a5058eaf2b5f8e1bda2d578146.jpg)
This is all an interesting variation "Death in the Family." Then, in his grief, Bruce was constantly fluctuating on if he was going to kill Joker, and his eventual attempt was trapping Joker in a crashing helicopter. In Robin Lives, he seems ambivalent too, again engineering the circumstances for Joker to die but not being an entirely active participant, and also not angry at Clark for rescuing him. (Speaking of which, Clark sure as heck didn't rescue Joker from the original helicopter incident. I guess he's ambivalent in his own way!)
So Joker is returned to Arkham Asylum, where Bruce talks to the current director, Dr. Benjamin Stoner (who evidently really was the director at the time but also a literal agent of chaos??? OK I guess I'll keep that in mind). Stoner pushes back on Bruce's assessment of the Joker.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/11c69c7515bf2cb345d10e0c73f2343b/070be320bbe17eb3-f5/s640x960/f27b3335377e21acc2b08c0d24d98964be7ffb03.jpg)
At the time, Bruce vanishes, but as we see in the narration when Bruce faildads hard with a recovering Jason, he later seems to reflect on Stoner's words along with Jason's.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ef90d35c62ce6cb7b2d51e0ecdb83f7c/070be320bbe17eb3-25/s640x960/d8a8219176e21d9ab340ea5397b39b674ea67595.jpg)
Jason appears at the start of the issue in the hospital, but we finally get into it with him in the second half. He keeps withdrawing from Bruce and Alfred, so Dick appears to provide some emotional support.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/d328dd418b8ee340260cfedad3547292/070be320bbe17eb3-b1/s640x960/ddb182aa844bfb694f0f91e42ac46ea61a677541.jpg)
The page already notes that, no, this chat is not going to be enough to get Jason back to baseline. But it's also darkly hilarious that Dick thought it would be, especially keeping in mind that the implication is that this is the only time Dick comes over, and it's after Jason has been listless for some time. It's almost like this whole family is bad at feelings.
But Bruce does finally hire a professional, our narrator.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2b772d4204ce4458186fcde17670aefd/070be320bbe17eb3-65/s540x810/e3eb8cd1bccb05af8ed0e27a482c51f2b91bf6f6.jpg)
Of course, Jason overhears their discussion and thinks Bruce is planning to send him away.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0a460ad17af58d17277a3b71ac0bafb7/070be320bbe17eb3-51/s540x810/27078f5c213d8abcd0e6faafeff5b8d60e35980a.jpg)
Ouch.
Jason decides to prove that he's totally fine, actually, by saving a gala from Scarecrow by himself. Did you guess that he gets hit with fear toxin? Because yeah, they always get hit with fear toxin!
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6f1d23b9dc802a91612696f0546176e8/070be320bbe17eb3-f7/s540x810/60e5162107429209f9ed6b47a045a2c30e6aa330.jpg)

Oh my god he just wanted his mom to save him đ
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/5453576b610d7e93a85c5c58d8de8018/070be320bbe17eb3-54/s540x810/80beafe26950ef821eb6ca7d18ee20d724be2cb4.jpg)
OH GOD FOR A SECOND I FORGOT IT WAS FEAR TOXIN
I should take a second to jump back and note that Jason imagining Joker getting one right between the eyes, just like we saw at the start, feels like a solid indication that in the end, he will definitely be Joker's killer... but, well, you really don't know until it happens.
So Jason is out of commission, but before Scarecrow can kidnap him for interrogation, Batman finally shows up. Bruce beats the everloving crap out of Crane, obviously still consumed with anger about what happened in Ethiopia. The freaking cops have to ask him to stop.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a6620182696fb290357f45246c3cdf8b/070be320bbe17eb3-ff/s540x810/a608879beb0c39f28ebd81dabd67a69fb8fa9776.jpg)
And then the final page is just more of the saddest of sadtimes.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/94d756ca9d20a4aeb67a13a4b082fd49/070be320bbe17eb3-93/s640x960/1ea2ec191102d8adda7e715a76a37beeadef5aa6.jpg)
I do love that first narrative detail in the top panel. Bruce is feeling angry and guilty but also humiliated and ashamed. He knows Jason is a vulnerable kid who needs help, but as always, Jason also represents Bruce's personal failures. He couldn't get Jason to do exactly as he was told. He couldn't protect Jason from harm. He couldn't maintain the image of Batman as invulnerable, not with this terrified boy shaking on the ground. Bruce does not have control.
It's very human, and it's a key ingredient in whatever disaster is to come. Even if we didn't have Sara's final questions in the last two panels, we can already tell that Bruce is going to continue to make not-great choices.
I've already ordered #2, and I'm looking forward to reading what DeMatteis has in store in the next three issues. Barbara has to make an appearance, right? And she'd be a great candidate for the shooter...
