He/him or it/its, extant since 1999, I have so many feelings about everyone adjacent to Batman. Jason Todd is the main blorbo I spin like a rotisserie chicken in my head, however Steph is my favorite and Tim has a special place in my blackened heart. I've been soaking up the comics through my fucking pores and I need to speak about them or else my head will explode (it has already exploded into several hundred pages worth of fanfiction). other blogs: Art/aesthetic/"main": hellispeacefullandempty Personal/political: demon-and-human Horny: fangs-claws-and-terrible-ideas

There’s such a delicious enjoyment for me in scenes that are fights between two people that are so brutal because of how intimate their relationship is. They WILL bring up ancient history, they WILL stab you in all your weakest parts, and yeah most sexy of all, they WILL say things to each other they can never unsay. It’s fighting as an act of intimacy (derogatory). Evil sex scene. Nothing better

Redoing my favourite annual poll: Now that Batman's crusade has been rolling for like 20 years, and he has all the support and infrastructure he could ask for, is Gotham any safer?

Something you must remember about Dick Grayson and Bruce Wayne is that they spent more than a decade getting locked in Saw traps together and that both of them are intensely and painfully fond and nostalgic about that period of their lives.

STEPHS SWEATER IN ROBIN 111 IS CRYSTALS SWEATER. Steph took Crystals sweater and ran away with it. That’s why it’s too big for Steph, it’s not her sweater holy shit!
She was so angry at her mom and so conflicted and so hurt and despite all that when she was packing a bag to run away from home with she put her moms sweater in the bag and then when she was feeling shitty she wore it because it felt like home even when Steph felt like she couldn’t go back to her actual home.

idk... i think that when Bruce calls Jason his greatest failure, self-blame and recrimination are indeed part of his motivation, but those things are not the only things motivating that sort of thought
#“I failed to prevent you from becoming this”#“i failed to handle you in ways that would have made you act correctly”#“i failed to control you properly”#idk it's really hard for me to put into words exactly#but it feels like Bruce's recrimination of himself is also necessarily a recrimination of Jason's agency#like if Jason hadn't gone with Sheila hadn't become a killer#Bruce still would have massively fucked up how he treated Jason#but would he care?#are Jason's actions not what causes Bruce to define his behavior as producing failure?

(text description in ALT and below the cut)
Based on some rumblings I heard, I ended up quickly throwing together a fun little WIP bingo sheet! I'll admit I largely wrote the prompts for writing, but I think a good number of them should also apply to art!
Ultimately, the goal is to have fun, and finish whatever WIPs you can (without burning yourself out or having a bad time). If you needed a sign to pick up that project you've been putting off, the time is now!
3x4 Bingo square titled "Finish your fucking fics february"
the top three across left to right read "Update your oldest WIP", "Finish a WIP that's been buried deep in your drafts", and "Finish a WIP that you haven't posted yet"
the second row reads "Finish a recent WIP", "Finish a WIP you're scared of" and "Finish a WIP that's been haunting you"
the third row reads "Update a partially posted WIP", "Finish any WIP/Free Space", and "Finish the next WIP in a series you've been avoiding"
the last row reads "Update your newest WIP", "Finish a WIP that's been ignored for at least 6 months", and "Finish the next chapter for a fic you've been meaning to for months"
