Ever since I learned that one of the reasons athletes do steroids is because it lets them heal from injuries faster I have been convinced that all of the bats should be on steroids. You will never hear me complain about wildly over muscled heroes in comic art ever again, and you will hear me complaining about the lack of muscles on female characters way more because why on earth would the bats not be doping?

Are you going to tell me that Cassandra Cain is going to refuse to keep her body at peak fighting capacity just because she might get a little bit of hair growing on her upper lip? I think the fuck not!

Do you think that Batman is going to turn down the opportunity to get himself back into the fight quicker because his penis might get smaller???? Be so fucking for real right now. Of course not.

Heck, if anything, I should be apologizing for setting up such ridiculous and unbelievable straw men

(okay, I am clearly being very flippant and silly here, and yes there are actual health risks like liver and kidney damage to worry about, but in all seriousness I still think it makes a ton of sense for them to be using. Like first of all a lot of those health risks can be mitigated by careful monitoring and moderate dosing. Second of all, when have we known any of these people to prioritize their health over the mission?? Third of all, tons of real life athletes have looked at all these same risks and chosen to take them for basically all the same reasons the bats have. Like we have MMA fighters to directly compare to; those careers can't last long, a body simply can't keep up, but steroids can extend that career and if people are relying on you winning fights then yeah. It's gonna be a tempting option. I just don't think it's unreasonable to think that they'd go for it *shrug* )

I love transfem cissie king jones headcanons because they suggest that the dc universe does accept and embrace trans athletes. They can be national celebrities even. And i think that's beautiful and worth imagining.
