Au where Redhood’s “I’m not your son anymore, Batman” is contagious.

Aka: Tim Drake sees Jason, his favorite Robin, decide that Batman isn’t cool anymore.

Warnin: violent stuff ahead, per usual for Red Hood. Talk of murder and disability, and full body paralysis caused intentionally.

Tim is peer pressured. If Jason thinks Batman isn’t cool? That no-kill rules are getting in the way? Well then maybe Tim should listen.

Tim changes his name to Red Robin, to match Red Hood’s theme.

Jason finds himself with a tiny stalker who is absolutely fine with murder. Killing criminals to clean up gothams streets? Heads in bags? Jason, that sounds brilliant. Sign Tim up.

Jason realizes this is a chance to get back at Batman. Corrupting the replacement Robin? It’s a genius plan.

Meanwhile, Batman has no idea Red Hood is Jason.

You think Tim told Bruce why exactly he was leaving? Jokes on you. He’s a bat, and bats are notorious for communication issues.

From Batman’s perspective, his Robin his son just ran off to go be a sidekick to some rouge. Could mind control be at play? Tim left an encrypted note that said “I’m not being mind controlled, Batman. Also, you’re not my dad.” Batman is skeptical, since the puzzle looks like something Tim would make (it took hours for Batman to decode). But “I’m not being mind controlled” is what someone being mind controlled would say. Or worse, the mind control is preventing Tim from realizing he’s being mind controlled.

Batman is trying to lure Robin back using all the tricks. Baiting traps with Alfred’s cookies. Leaving really cool cases unsolved. Even asking the Justice League for help.

He even informs Nightwing of what happened.

Nightwing isn’t absolutely against the murder-spree his two baby birds are on.

He’s not going to join the murder. Killing isn’t something he could ever do himself. But he gets it.

Dick did the research before even knowing Red Hood’s identity. He knows hood only went after the truly corrupt. The ones that were unforgivable. Drug lords, human traffickers, all the worst kinds of predators.

He’s surprised when Red Hood reveals his identity to Dick. Jason is trying to hold Tim back from too much murder, and decided to throw the feral child at Nightwing.

This meant revealing his identity. And it helps that maybe Jason was missing his brother.

Dick is now incredibly happy. He has his two younger brothers. Nothing could be better.

Sure, Batman is missing his son. But maybe Bruce deserves it a little bit?

Barbara is down to kill the clown.

Red Hood and Red Robin approach her with an elaborate plot to break into Arkham and murder the Joker. Since the Joker hurt Batgirl so badly, Red Robin argues, Oracle should he allowed to decide if she wants in on the revenge scheme.

And Oracle? She has a worse idea. Murder is alright, but did they suffer? Not really. Barbara decides to make the revenge personal: neck down paralysis. The Joker won’t be able to hurt anyone else. If Joker somehow heals? Then murder is acceptable. But having Joker watch his empire of chaos crumble around him as he’s helpless to stop it? That’s the revenge Barbara wants.

It means investing in better security for Arkham, to make sure Joker can’t corrupt someone else like he did to Harley Quinn. It means making sure Ra’s Al Ghul doesn’t break in and heal the joker with Lazarus water.

Jason is consoled by the fact that before paralyzing the clown, he gets to beat him with a crowbar.

It’s probably backed up by the fact that Tim doesn’t always get away with it.

He knows he can’t lie about how much he’s slept. His family sees the physical signs, and they’d check the camera footage.

He can’t lie about how much coffee he drinks, because Alfred knows about anything anyone eats or drinks in the house. Again, he shows physical symptoms sometimes.

It gives the illusion that Tim isn’t good at lying when he tries to lie about that. “I went to bed early last night” no, we see your laptop activity Tim, you were up till three on a research binge.

But Tim can lie about school. “Oh, it’s a research project for a paper in my science class.” (Tim is on a research binge and has to get away with it somehow)

Tim can lie about the war crimes. “No, Batman, I didn’t intend for all those cultists to die, that would be insane. I could never.” (Tim has the highest kill count of any Robin, and it’s not an accident.)

Tim could lie about the unethical experimentation he’s funding through Wayne Enterprises. “No, this cloning process is for organ donation. I’ve checked over everything and it’s fine.” (Tim knows they’re sort of producing sentient people that are too unstable to live, causing hundreds of deaths, but he wants a backup family in case the originals die. It’s fine, he’s helping hide the evidence, while hiding evidence he hid the evidence.)

Most of the Batkids lie to Batman.

What’s unique about Tim “I lie to Batman” Drake is that he lies *successfully* to Batman.

Damian just states blatant untruths and expects people to believe them. Dick puts on a good act, but it can’t fool his family, even if they won’t call him out on it. Jason’s emotions are too easy to read, even with his helmet on. Cass lies with her words, but never with her body. Duke lacks self-awareness of his insanity and thus doesn’t try to hide any of it. Steph and Barbara don’t even bother, because Batman has no authority over her whatsoever.

Tim, though? He was raised by boarding schools and nannies and practically incentivized to lie to adults. He’s so earnest and well-meaning that everyone expects him to be a compulsive truth-teller, and he weaponizes it like the little gremlin he is. And when that isn’t enough, he knows how to spin things just right that they don’t quite sound like an untruth.

I’ve been reading a few Batman fics featuring Tim Drake

One frequently used thing is Tim skipping grades in school. And while I get it, he’s a precocious genius kid who’s parents want him to be impressive, i would be interested in the alternative:

Tim Drake who feels like he’s a disappointment to his parents

Tim Drake, who can’t seem to get great grades in school

Tim Drake, who doesn’t feel very smart, even if he’s good at detective work and hacking. Anyone can do that, right?

Tim Drake, who had low self esteem due to his poor school performance.

Tim Drake, who’s interactions with his parents are plagued with their anger over his low academic performance

Tim Drake, who’s still incredibly intelligent, but struggles with turning in assignments.

October’s comming up soon! Which means….

INKTOBER TIMMMMMMME!!!!!!

Yes folks! It’s almost that time of year again where artist everywhere on the internet pick a prompt and draw what’s in their chose prompt and draw for the whole month!

Thankfully since my college schedule’s pretty ease up and I have not a lot of classes, Im able to participate for this year’s Inktober! :D

However! For this year since I’ve looked through some list for this year’s inktober and there’s some good chocies. I’ve picked two great prompts, but I couldn’t pick one!

So…

I have decided for this year I’ll be using two prompts to make two drawings every day starting next month!

I know it may sound tricky, but I wanna try making something creepy and fun for the whole month!

I’ll be rebloging the two prompts I’ve choosen to use for this year’s Inktober challange! And you can try either one for yourself if you like! :)
