Emma Frost x Tony Stark married headcannons

So it feels like at this rate we might not be getting a real wedding or marriage out of Tony & Emma which imo feels like a missed opportunity to explore the marriage of convenience trope and have a divorce battle between 2 of the messiest bitches in Marvel, but who knows there’s still another issue to go and anything can happen. In the meantime here are some headcannons

Tony finds out Emma’s a bottle blonde and teases her about it but makes up for it by helping her apply the hair dye in the bathroom

Tony is coy about his whereabouts one day and Emma follows him and finds out about his AA meetings. She listens in to his sharing for a bit before wanting to give him his privacy and heads back home. Eventually Tony tells her about the meetings in his own time

Tony nicknames her Em & Sparkles(which technically isn’t a hc since it happened in the comics ig I just think he would do it often)

In a similar vein Emma is always referring to him as Anthony. So much so that when another telepath or maybe shapeshifter tries to trick Tony into believing they’re Emma he catches on when the trickster refers to him as Tony instead of Anthony

Emma helps him tend to his bruises/wounds

The first time Tony catches Emma wearing his shirt immediately the heart eyes pop out. 1) because it’s the first time he sees her in something so casual 2) because well it’s his shirt duh

The first time Emma tries to cook for Tony is the last time Emma ever tries to cook for Tony as it ends with him putting out a fire and them ordering shawarma. He appreciated the effort though

They bond over their upbringings and daddy issues

Emma mocks Tony for being unimpressive without his suit. Tony in return mocks Emma for being unimpressive without her powers. Leads to them having a sparring session to settle it. Let’s just say they both win

Emma always acts disinterested when Tony rants about his tech stuff but she secretly loves seeing him nerd out about something he’s passionate about

When Riri meets Emma at first she thinks she’s sus(and it’s Emma so like fair) but eventually Riri warms up to her, but not enough to accept her job offers to work at Frost International. And unlike with Tony, Emma never pretends to be disinterested in Riri’s inventions. It’s always obvious she’s super invested, and when Tony calls her out on it Emma just says it’s because Riri’s way cooler than him(which she is)

Tony spoils the Stepford Cuckoos rotten, like even Emma thinks it’s a little much

Emma shows him some moves she learned back when she danced at the Hellfire Club

They calm each other down after waking up from nightmares

Emma initially assumes that since their marriage is a marriage of convenience he has no interest in being faithful or monogamous. Plus she’s used to feeling like 2nd choice because of Scott. It surprises her when Tony is willing to stay faithful and treat her like the queen she is

Summary: It’s all fake.

“Let me see,” you laugh as Natasha grabs your hand to get a good look at the diamond ring Tony put on your finger a few days ago. He told you to keep it a secret until tonight. Tonight, at one of his infamous parties, he showed off you, and the ring on your finger. “Oh…uh…that’s a nice ring.”

You frown. Somehow Natasha’s mood changed from cheery, to downright pissed. “Nat, is something wrong with the ring? Do you think it’s too big? I knew it was too big. I told Tony so.”

“No-no,” she stammers. Natasha takes a sip of her wine and avoids eye contact. “As I said. It’s a very nice ring.”

“You already said that Natasha,” you remind her. Your eyes drop to the ring on your finger. It sparkles, and you smile, but it fades when you meet Natasha’s gaze. “What’s wrong with the ring? Did Tony steal it or something?”

You chuckle as Natasha nervously looks around the ballroom. “It’s not like that,” she assures you. “I mean, why would he steal a ring? He’s got more money than…you know…anyone I know.”

“I never cared much about his money,” you smile as Tony points at you and Natasha. He laughs loudly at something his ex said. “Why is Pepper here? I thought she was in Tokyo, living her best life.”

“She came back a year ago. New, and improved. At least that’s what I heard through the grapevine,” Natasha huffs as you glance down your body in your simple black gown. “Tony tried his best to get her back until he met you.”

“Pepper is back for a year?” you frown deeply. “Tony never mentioned Pepper is back. Why would he hide that his ex is back in town?”

“I don’t know,” Natasha tries to comfort you. She places her hand on your shoulder, gently squeezing it. “Don’t think too much about it. Maybe he was too in love with you to think about some other woman.”

“Natasha, please don’t lie to me,” you dip your head to glance at the redhead. “What is wrong with the ring? I know you are hiding things from me. Please don’t. I need to know the truth.”

“Nat, doll,” Bucky strolls toward you and Natasha. “What are you ladies up to tonight?” He grins as you try to get Natasha to talk. “Something wrong?”

“It’s…the ring.”

Natasha sighs as you lift your hand to show Bucky the ring. He takes your hand to get a better look at the ring. Bucky frowns and clears his throat.

“A nice ring, doll.”

“You are lying. Both of you,” you conclude. “I need to know what’s wrong with the ring. Right now.”

“What’s this all about?" Steve joins your little group. He looks at your hand in Bucky’s hand, humming as he inspects the ring. “Nice ring…uh…but why are you wearing a fake diamond, doll? Is Tony afraid someone will steal the real one and wants you to wear a dummy at the party?”

You look at the ring, and then at Natasha and Bucky. They look away, ashamed that none of them was brave enough to tell you the truth.

“It’s fake?” you whimper.

Steve swallows thickly when the realization hits him. “Wait—you didn’t know it’s fake?” He questions as you try to keep yourself from crying. “Doll, you okay.”

“No. I’m not okay,” you shake your head. “I knew it was too good to be true. Tony Stark suddenly recognizes me after I worked for him for five years. A whirlwind romance after years of pining, he said. Nonsense.”

“You don’t know that Y/N,” Bucky is fast to wrap his arm around your shoulders before Steve or Natasha get the chance to do so. “Maybe the jeweler tricked him, doll. Let’s talk to him. Stark wouldn’t buy you a fake diamond. Right. Steve?”

“Uh-I don’t think he would,” Steve lies. You can see it in his sad blue eyes.

“He would,” you whisper. “The fat and boring girl doesn’t deserve a diamond ring. I was only a way to get back at Pepper. Just look at him. He looks like a peacock wooing for her.”

“Doll—I,” Bucky follows your eyes. “He’s a little tipsy…maybe. Steve, help me here.” The brunette desperately tries to hide the ugly truth from you.

“He gave me Y/N the ring to make Pepper jealous, and it worked. She is glued to his side since the moment he entered the party,” Natasha spats. “I will so kill that bastard.”

“Don’t-“ you shake your head. “It’s not worth it. He’s not worth it.”

“I think you should confront him,” Steve says. “If he didn’t know it was a fake diamond, it’s fine. If not…well…let’s say Bucky and I are looking for a way to get out all the pent-up tension.”

“Fine. I’ll talk to him,” you nod to yourself. “I-will you come with me?” You ask the super-soldiers. Somehow you feel less self-cautious around them. “Please.”

“We are by your side,” Steve says.

“Till the end of the line,” Bucky adds.

“Don’t be overdramatic, Barnes,” Natasha grunts. “Let’s get this over with. I was looking for a reason to kick Tony’s ass for years.”

The super-soldiers flank your sides as you make your way toward Tony and Pepper.

“Tony, can we talk for a moment,” you whisper.

“I was in the middle of…something,” Tony stammers. “Do you need anything?”

“I only want to know one thing,” you stop right in front of Tony, “why did you give me a fake diamond? Did I not earn a diamond for helping you get your ex back?” You slide the ring off your finger to throw it into Tony’s face.

“Doll, maybe it’s not fake,” Bucky gasps as you punch Tony straight into his face. “Whoa…a perfect right hook, Y/N.”

“I knew it, Tony. The moment you put the ring on my finger I knew something is wrong,” you chuckle humorlessly. “It was too good to be true. Of course, it was.”

“I-I didn’t get a real one so fast,” Tony lies. “Darling, we will get you a new one soon…okay.”

“No. you won’t.”  You close your eyes and push the tears away. “You are eye-fucking your ex for hours. We are over.”

You turn around, holding your head high as you make your way toward the door.

“Doll, wait.”

Steve and Bucky follow you hot on your heels. They are afraid you’ll do something stupid and won’t leave you alone.

“So,” you huff as the super-soldiers flank your sides again, “do you still want to get rid of that pent-up tension?”
