Disraeli Gears is the second studio album by the British rock band Cream. It was released in November 1967 and went on to reach No. 5 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 1 on the Finnish charts. The album was also No. 1 for two weeks on the Australian album chart and was listed as the No. 1 album of 1968 by Cash Box in the year-end album chart in the United States. The album is considered by critics as one of the greatest albums of all time. The album features the singles "Strange Brew" and "Sunshine of Your Love", as well as their respective B-sides "Tales of Brave Ulysses" and "SWLABR". My copy is a later reissue on RSO Records - RS 1-3020 The sessions were produced by future Mountain bassist #felixpappalardi – who co-wrote the tracks "Strange Brew" and "World of Pain" with wife Gail Collins – and were engineered by #tomdowd – who would later work with #ericclapton on projects such as #laylaandotherassortedlovesongs and #461oceanboulevard . Love & Money’s second album, Strange Kind Of Love, was a sea change from the vapid pop of their Tom Dowd-produced debut. Gone was the noise and posturing, and in its place was deep song craft and immaculate playing, all tied together by the studio sheen of Steely Dan producer Gary Katz. This album sounds expensive and I’m sure it was. The songs are great and would’ve been hits if they hadn’t come out at the blast-off point of hair metal. So it goes. This L&M album was significant for me not only ‘cause it’s great, but also because it made me go see them play in NYC—which in turn made me a fan of the horrendously mismatched opening act from Scarsdale, Too Much Joy.

It’s literally my favorite record with either Eric Clapton or with Duane ALLMAN . What makes this record brilliant is the great song writing coupled with the genius musicianship of both Clapton and Duane - the band is simply extraordinary. This is as #davedimartino from Creem describe s this as Clapton’s Masterwork- I listened to this waiting for our #detroit rock radio to play #layla (clapton’s ode to #pattieboyd ) #bellbottomblues they cover #jimihendrix ‘s #littlewing #tellthetruth and so many more - this band toured however Duane only guested on 2 shows ( they had to be blistering!!!)
