Today LIVE with songbird, Rosemary Butler, Take 2! 

I had the pleasure of meeting Rosemary at NAMM BC (before COVID) and had asked her then to do this. With the pandemic, it kind of got lost in the crazy, then Snuffy and I ran into her, and it stuck. We conducted Part 1 in February, despite technical difficulties, but decided to cut it short and start anew. And here we are.

Rosemary has been a backup singer alongside Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Paul McCartney, Carole King, Neil Diamond, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Kenny Loggins, Whitney Houston, Ray Charles, and many other A-listers. Rosemary was the contractor and co-conductor of the 100 Voice Choir featured on Neil Young’s Living with War album and movie, and the Super Bowl pre-game show with Glenn Frey, President Clinton’s Inauguration, and The Grammys have all been graced by her voice.

Beginning her career as a singer and bass player in the all-girl band The Ladybirds, who opened for The Stones, Rosemary formed the all-female hard rock band BIRTHA and released two early 70s albums for ABC-Dunhill Records.

Rose won a Telly Award for a video retrospective look at her career as a background singer alongside some of the most renowned recording artists of all time. Her latest solo album, You Watch Me, features her friends Kenny Loggins and Jackson Browne.

Rosemary has sung with everybody who's anybody. And she's got GREAT stories! Can't wait for more!

El concierto "Ray Charles - Live in Concert with Special Guest Diane Schuur" tuvo lugar en 1999 en el James L. Knight Center de Miami, Florida, como un evento benéfico para el Miami Lighthouse for the Blind. A sus 71 años, Ray Charles, conocido como "El Genio del Soul", demostró que su talento seguía intacto, ofreciendo una actuación que combinaba maestría musical y carisma inigualable. Acompañado por una gran orquesta sinfónica, su sección rítmica habitual y músicos destacados como Roger Ingram en trompeta y Victor Vanacore como director musical, Charles llevó al público a través de un repertorio que abarcó sus clásicos más queridos.

Rosemary Butler Live on Game Changers With Vicki Abelson Part 1

Astrologer Zoe Moon warned it was gonna be a crazy day. I read that first thing this morning but forgot about it until 4:45 pm when things started going sideways. What could have been a non-show disappointment, turned into a delayed, technical bit of a mess, but ultimately delightful chat with the incomparable Rosemary Butler. Just the appetizer for what is sure to be a delightful feast when next we meet, Wednesday, March 26th, promptly Live @5! 

Instead of what I thought would be a quick hello, sorry, see you next time, Rosemary delighted with some choice stories about where she came from, her two all-girl bands, The Ladybirds and Birtha, opening for The Stones, great stuff there from the Beatles fan who eventually did get to sing with her hero, Paul, who inspired her to be a lefthanded singing bassist, through sheer Moxie, thanks to Kenny Loggins and Peter Asher, a funny Three Dog Night/Chuck Negron tale, a wonderful Ray Charles invitation, Bonnie Raitt, who she credits with changing her life, but we barely scratched the surface there as we did with Jackson Browne. 

Rosemary has sung, toured, and recorded with everyone who's anyone... Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor,  Carole King, Neil Diamond, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Whitney Houston, to name a few more - those stories and lots more when Rosemary comes back, under more ideal conditions, feather in hand, with her adorable exuberance to amuse and delight us!
