I think the mangrove x glory might be a heathery and better ship than glorybringer. It seems more better because their probely the same age and their both rainwings. I’ve been thinking of an au about glory x mangrove story for awhile-

mangrove is angry that magnificent isn’t sending anyone out to find orchid. He searches for orchid and it’s been three months. He eventually gives up on finding her. Then glory comes along and mangrove starts to like her. Glory wants to become Queen and mangrove supports her because he likes her. Glory likes him to and they become partners. Glory and her friends save the world and mangrove becomes a king. Orchid is free from the nightwing prison and she go’s back to the rainforest. Orchid finds out that mangrove is with glory now and that he is king and he loves glory more than orchid. Orchid doesn’t like this and she leaves the forest. Along the way, she meets Queen scarlet. Scarlet wants glory dead and so does orchid. The two of them team up and try to kill glory. During this, scarlet takes over sky kingdom and has the skywings and orchid lead a battle with the rainwings. During the fight, mangrove tells orchid that he did love her. But he thought she was dead and he loves glory now. Orchid attacks glory. Queen scarlet is killed and the skywings fled. Glory banished orchid.

I'm sorry if I'm misinterpreting your viewpoint, but are you saying that Mangrove and Glory would be better together just because they are similar in age? If so, I strongly disagree with that opinion because that is a major stereotype. I think what you are trying to say is that they are similar in age so they have similar personalities and mental ages. And that I can agree with. Mangrove and Glory have good chemistry because their personalities work together well.

Now on the other talon, I'm sorry if I'm misinterpreting your viewpoint again, but are you trying to say that same tribe relationships are superior to different tribe relationships? If so, I strongly disagree because that is a major stereotype that makes my brain think back to dragon racism. But I assume that what you are trying to say is that everyone is allowed to have their own personal preference on this subject. I personally think that it doesn't matter what the tribes are, unless it is a contrast, like Winter and Qibli, which makes the relationship that much more unique. Glory and Mangrove being the same tribe doesn't affect my opinion on the ship, but what it does do instead is factually break the link between tribes that Deathbringer and Glory provide through their relationship.

In conclusion for this section, I do agree that similar mental ages play an important role in Mangrove and Glory's relationship. I think that it could work but at the expense of the link between tribes. But, this could serve as an introduction to a new plot, such as the nightwing-rainwing war starting up again. That would be pretty sick, not going to lie!

Now for section 2:

I think you should totally make an AU about this for the non-Glorybringer fans. They would absolutely love it, especially, since there aren't many stories like that. I bet it would get pretty popular among Wings of Fire fans, but there are some things I could add to your plot and fix up to help you tell a better story.

Tip 1:

Really focus on the development of Glory and Mangrove's friendship, while on their journey to find Orchid. The last thing you want is a relationship becoming canon out of nowhere.

Good examples of realistic pre-relationship development to refer to, while writing:

Cleril(WoF), Qinter(WoF), Lumity(ToH), Destar(Strings of Sin)

Tip 2:

Provide depth to Orchid's morality and give her good villainous qualities that are realistic. You want to give Orchid a good reason to team up with the fabled Queen Scarlet. Putting the two side by side seems weird and out of place, so you would have to stretch Orchid's reasoning hard to get some really good dangerous characteristics that catch Scarlet's interest. This is totally doable, and I'm going to tell you how:

Make it so that Orchid meets with Mangrove after she is rescued, and he tells her the news rather than her just hearing of it. This situation would serve as a more powerful moment to stir emotions within the reader and capture their interest better. People love to see drama occurring right then and there!

The greatest contribution to the start of hatred is ignorance. If you want to make Orchid a believable villain, you'll have to make Mangrove's delivery of the news easily misinterpreted and less dire. Make Mangrove seem like he has already moved on and was doing better off without Orchid. Make Orchid feel as if she wasn't needed and have her form prejudiced distrust and hatred towards Glory, using the nature of dominance. In simple terms, make Orchid dislike Glory because Glory is held at a higher value than her by Mangrove, despite not knowing who she is, and have her envy lead her actions, rather than her logic.

The trauma of being locked up with the other rainwings and being released just to learn that your man found a better girl is a good situation to work with for development. Orchid should run away from Mangrove, crying, and keep her emotions bottled up. Have her core values change over a medium period of time, such as a week, as she runs away from her emotions and home. Her core values should now be that she views rainwings to be just as cruel as the nightwings, based on her experience with Mangrove and her stereotype, formed by envy, on Glory.

She would meet Queen Scarlet, and at first, Queen Scarlet would see Orchid as a toy. I think these two character's first interaction could be amazing if done right. Have Queen Scarlet treat Orchid like she's a stupid, little rainwing. Now that Orchid is insulted and treated badly, have her memories of being inferior to Glory strike her at this moment and give her a reason to resort to animalistic violence against Scarlet. Orchid's jealousy would cause her to want to prove her superiority to Queen Scarlet because of her ignorant treatment towards Orchid, and this would lead Orchid to shoot venom at Scarlet. The delusion of venom prohibition is broken here, and Orchid realizes just how much power she has over other dragons, at this moment.

Queen Scarlet would question the strange behavior of Orchid, and Orchid would force her hatred towards Glory into her speaking when she maliciously talks to Queen Scarlet about how powerless she is compared to her. Orchid would probably have developed a lust for dominance by now, and this would cause her to treat all ignorant dragons and high class like they are inferior to her. Orchid would yell at Queen Scarlet and release the emotions she had bottled up for the past week in her speech, and eventually, she would speak of Glory.

Queen Scarlet would like to hear this hate talk of Glory and would consider the value of rainwing venom on her side. She would be shy of the idea, at first, due to trauma from past experiences with it, but she would eventually come around and ask Orchid if she lusts for revenge. Orchid and Scarlet team up, as you mentioned in your AU idea.

In conclusion, Orchid's villainous quality that causes most of her actions is envy and the desire to be better than other dragons. She is a powerful ally because of her venom and animalistic behavior, which is now undeluded, which makes her lack hesitation to use it. I actually think this villain is pretty good because envy is a powerful sin. I love the idea of a villain lusting over wanting to be better than everyone; it gives good confidence to the character and opens up fun dialogue opportunities to use with the villain.

As I said, it's a big stretch and it would take some very powerful dialogue and moments to truly be believable development, but if done right, it could be totally epic.

Tip 3:

Scrap the whole idea of Mangrove thinking Orchid was dead. Miscommunication is a good writing element, don't get me wrong, but it just doesn't work in this case. It seems unrealistic that Mangrove wouldn't know that Orchid was alive because someone would have saved her and accounted for the missing rainwings being found with Glory. And also, this scenario could prevent a really powerful scene in the earlier part of the story: that being Mangrove telling Orchid that he loves Glory.

Tip 4:

I think it would be cool if Mangrove would find Orchid during the battle and try to talk to her, but she would just run away from him because she doesn't want to confront her emotions. A good suspenseful chase scene serves as good symbolism, in this case, for Orchid’s dealing with emotion and gives more drama to your story. I think it would be interesting if Orchid's liability lay within her faint love for Mangrove deep beneath all of her hatred. This could serve as a redeeming quality for a redemption arc.

Tip 5:

Let's talk about the climax. Orchid would find Queen Glory and have an epic Sans boss fight, and Mangrove would serve as the voice of reason for both characters. You decide if Orchid should be redeemed or not, and I personally think that she is a redeemable villain.

If she were to be redeemed, Mangrove and Glory would have to hold Orchid down long enough for Mangrove to talk about his feelings. Have him say something like this:

"I'm sorry I dismissed your emotions when we talked last. I didn't consider the effect it would have on you, and I'm sorry for everything that happened to you beforehand! I don't like Glory because I think she's better than you! It's just that I feel as if Glory is better for me!"

This would solve the miscommunication of emotions between Orchid and Mangrove and help Orchid realize her worth. She would cry and realize what she had become.

Tip 6:

Final tip, for the ending, make Orchid still have to earn her redemption if you do go down that path. Make her work for forgiveness by apologizing to the rainwings and helping with community duties.

And for the Glory and Mangrove romance moments, do whatever you want bro!

My final thoughts are that this could be an interesting fanfiction, and if you do end up writing it, send me a link. Maybe also credit me if you decide to use some of my ideas because I worked really hard to lay out all of these tips.
