“This is probably going to be the weirdest question ever.” You stared at the path, refusing to make eye contact. “But are you using those brownies for anything in particular?” The blonde knitted his brows, glancing down at the clear container filled with sweet treats. “Not...” he lifted his gaze to your hands that you tried to cover with your beige sweater, “necessarily.” You noticed how his forehead creased in concern. He’d seen the grazes; red and irritated. He opened his mouth to speak. Quickly trying to divert his oncoming question, you blurted out, “Is there any chance I could borrow them?” And borrow them you did.
You couldn't count the amount of hours you had stared up at the ceiling that night. Paranoia rung in the back of your head, preventing you from sleep. An exhale passed through your lips. Palms resting across your stomach as you focused on breathing. You unconsciously grabbed your phone, checking the time. 3.15 am... only fifteen more minutes until your alarm went off.
Today was the day that your manager would let you display your own creations. A lot of strings had to be pulled, but Chan had eventually agreed upon one condition. They must sell well. Sure, it didn't seem like a scary feat, if the treats were good enough it should be no problem.
But there was always that insecurity... that sense of perfectionism that you could never shake. No matter how hard you tried. Hence why you were here, staring up at the ceiling instead of sleeping. Usually, to quiet the thoughts bouncing around in your brain you'd listen to music. But for now, all you could do was wallow in the possibilities and what if's.
Cursing, you sat upright. The kitchen was figuratively calling your name. You glanced at the slight crack in the door, watching how the light from the bathroom illuminated the laminated floorboards.
Anxiety baking... here you come.
By four am you had nearly every ingredient known to man splayed across your granite bench. Already three batches of different flavours of muffins cooling on wire racks. Orange and Oreo, Raspberry and Mint and lastly, Coffee and Salted Caramel (yes the coffee was the singular coffee bean decorating the top of the muffin - it still counts).
The last thing to come out of the oven was more so an experiment, mini cherry pie’s! The mixture of scents reminded you of lazy afternoons at the beach or having a picnic surrounded by friends. warm and fuzzy.
A smile crossed your features as you admired the golden-brown pastry. On cue, your stomach rumbled. You placed the hot tray on the bench, being particularly careful with the oven mitts. The last thing you’d want is to burn yourself—
You could imagine it, coming into work with bandages all over your hands. Chan shaking his head in utter disappointment. That may as well have contributed to your nightmares. Being scolded by Chan was worse than being scolded by a parent.
The next problem was choosing what muffin you would choose to showcase. You wondered if your roommate would kill you for waking them up at 4am to taste test muffins. The answer was probably. Hyunjin was big on beauty sleep, which you didn’t blame him for. You stared at his door for a little longer before deciding against it.
Instead, you placed a little plate on the bench, grabbing each one of your creations and displaying it cutely. You reached for the icing sugar, dusting it across the plate.
You left a little note behind, tucking it underneath:
treats for sleeping beauty (don’t worry there’s lots of flour)
- Y/N <3
It was decided. You would bring two of each.
You’d thought about the prospect before, owning your own little bakery. Maybe on the corner of a street, a cute little spot. One with just enough foot traffic to keep yourself afloat. Money was never the real reason for your ambitions. You wanted people to enjoy the pastries and sweets. To feel the same sense of warmth and comfort that you had.
When your mother would present you with her newest addition to her cookbook. A child spoilt, nurtured with love. Every bite reminded you of her. Her soft smile and comforting words. How gently she raised you, as best as she could as a single parent. You never really understood how difficult she had it.
She poured her love into her creations, the ones that you now tried to perfect. Although, you could never seem to get them right. There was always something missing, something that you couldn’t put your finger on.
A warmth on your cheeks surprised you. Wiping them with the pads of your fingertips, you realised you’d begun to cry.
Hyunjin was there to pick up the pieces, he’d offered for you to move in. You couldn’t bear to live in the same house without her around. Everything was a constant reminder of her absence. Freshly graduated, and living with your best friend in an apartment complex? It didn’t sound like a bad trade off. You often pondered the idea that whoever said grief got easier to live with was lying. Maybe you just hadn’t reached that point.
Grief was never-ending, a reflection of love that wasn’t able to be shared. It will forever be stuck in a loop. Hence why guilt and grief go hand in hand. You struggled to contain the tears. They were scorching against your skin, it felt like hot coals were placed against your cheeks.
Shaking your head, you tentatively grabbed one of the oreo and orange muffins off the wire rack. Lifting the treat to your lips, you hesitated. It was still warm. Softly biting into the treat, you frowned. It didn’t taste right. It didn’t taste good enough. Your breathing faltered, holding the back of your palm against your mouth as you tried to chew the rest of it. A soft sob escaped your lips. You tried desperately to quieten the whimpers, not wanting to wake up Hyunjin.
Some of the crumbs transferred onto your sweater. The muffin was thrown onto the floor, the collision with the wood was enough to send the confectionary flying in every direction imaginable. Another thing you’d have to clean up.
You exhaled softly. Stepping away from the bench, you turned around. Placing your hands on the wooden floorboards, you hoisted your bodyweight upward.
You were upside down, balancing your legs and feet on the cupboards behind you. It’s something your mother taught you. If you couldn’t stop crying, do a handstand. You held the position until your arms gave out on you, slowly crumbling to the floor. Just like the muffin had.
That episode had further reinforced the idea that you weren’t a morning person. You tried to fake your optimism, carefully placing the muffins in a large cardboard takeaway box. They looked presentable enough.
You weren’t a morning person. Although, the walk to the bakery may as well have been your favourite thing in the entire world. The blue birds chattering away. The slight breeze that brushed against your cheeks. The smell of fresh dew droplets that decorated the grass beneath your feet.
You closed your eyes, feeling the first rays of morning sunlight hit your face. It was warmth. She was there, in the sun. Telling you it would be alright, easing your anxieties. The grip on the cardboard box tightened as you opened your eyes. The colours of the leaves shone a little differently in the light, voluminous greens and oranges. The seasons were changing. You always found that the most precious time. When the trees shed their old leaves, new colours and experiences arising. Maybe in another life you were a tree.
The fluffy clouds decorating the sky looked more like cotton candy. A part of you wanted to reach up and pluck them out and put them on a stick. Due to your attention being elsewhere, you were unable to see the branch laying across the gravel path.
Your body went careening forward, unable to protect yourself. Everything ached as you hit the ground. The box of muffins now lay, scattered across the gravel and grass. The skin of your hands raw from breaking the fall. You slowly sat upright, gathering your bearings.
A sigh fell from your lips. Brushing the back of your hand against your forehead. What the hell were you going to do now? You couldn’t just show up empty handed. Sorry Chan, I was a clumsy idiot and ruined every thing I baked this morning because I wasn’t watching where I was going. No that wouldn’t suffice.
You glanced behind you. It was way too late for you to begin walking back home. Checking your watch, which miraculously came out unscathed, it read: 4:48am.
You had work in approximately twelve minutes.
Picking up what was left of the muffins, you attempted to dust the dirt and grime off them. You weren’t going to salvage any of them at this rate. A weird substance had begun to seep into the cardboard box. You glanced down at your palms, realising the adrenaline had prevented you from feeling the damage.
Shallow wounds on each of your hands were decorated with maroon, mixed in with pebbles and granite. The dull aching became worse as you stared. You’d have to disinfect that for sure. Deflated, you picked up the remainder of the ruined sweets.
You continued walking, the breeze against your face felt icy. Lacking any sort of comfort you needed right now. You began to squint, noticing a figure in the distance following the same path.
Eventually, you caught up to the stranger. Hanging behind them slightly. Your eyes raked up and down his figure before landing on the clear container resting between his arm and ribcage. A lightbulb went off in your head.
“Hey- Uhm, excuse me.” You mumbled, reaching forward to tap on the stranger's shoulder. He paused, pulling out an earphone that now hung down his front. The stranger turned his body to face you.
Your mouth parted slightly. Freckles like constellations decorated the tops of his cheeks. He tilted his head slightly, like a confused puppy. The corner of his eyes crinkling slightly at the abrupt interruption. His blonde hair was quite long, styled at the front in fluffy waves.
He raised his brow. “Are you alright?” His voice was gruff, deep, a complete contrast to how he presented himself. You swallowed harshly, not expecting that in the slightest.
He was dressed in a multi-toned beige sweater, long cargo pants protecting him from the chilly weather. You averted your eyes, glancing down at the box of brownies he was carrying.
“This is probably going to be the weirdest question ever,” you stared mindlessly at the treats, refusing to make eye contact. “But are you using those brownies for anything in particular?”
A slight blush dusted your cheeks. Unable to process the notion of rejection, it was already embarrassing enough as it was. Asking a complete stranger if you could steal their food? It was official, you had lost your mind. The blonde knitted his brows, glancing down at the clear container filled with sweet treats. “Not necessarily.” There was a hint of amusement in his tone. He lifted his gaze to your hands that you tried to cover with your cream sweater.
You noticed how his forehead creased in concern. He’d seen the irritated grazes; the blood was beginning to dry on your palms. It felt disgusting. He opened his mouth to speak. Quickly trying to avert his oncoming question, you blurted out, “Is there any chance I could borrow them?”
“Borrow?”
“Okay, I could trade but my offerings are kind of ruined, hence the borrowing.” You explained. He noticed how panicky your movements were, opening up the cardboard box to reveal your ruined creations. The corner of his lips downturned.
He pondered for a moment, before nodding. “I’ll let you have them. But we need to take care of that first.” He pointed to your hands and the sweater that you’d now stained. The maroon substance had now turned an ugly shade of brown.
You sheepishly smiled. “I don’t really have any disinfectant or wipes, and I’m going to be late.”
He shook his head, a small smile playing on his pretty lips. “Don’t worry about that, I’ve got hand sanitizer.” You tilted your head in confusion, “And tissues.” He reiterated.
The stranger reached into his back pocket, pulling out both of said items.
“Allergies.” He shrugged, in relation to the tissues. You nodded, that made sense. The warmth in your palms was becoming unbearable against the cardboard. He placed the brownies on the ground. You mimicked him, dropping your box on the floor. There was a certain carelessness in your actions that caught his attention. He tucked the tissues under his arm.
He stepped forward tilting his head slightly, “May I?”
Searching your eyes for confirmation, he held the hand sanitiser outward. You nodded slightly, holding your palms toward him. He winced slightly at the state of the wounds, beginning to fold the sleeves of your sweater up for you. The blood stains were covered by the material, at least you wouldn’t have to change.
That may have been a food and safety health violation, but you were going to ignore it.
“This is going to hurt a little, I’m sorry.” His eyes sparkled with concern, a frown tugging at his lips as he hesitated. You pursed your lips. He squeezed the bottle slowly, allowing the alcoholic substance to seep into each wound.
You slightly hissed through your teeth, “You have nothing to apologise for it was my fault in the first place.” You rubbed the substance into the wound, closing your eyes as the stinging became worse. It felt like a million tiny needles pricking your skin. Not the most pleasant experience. “Thank you for helping me. It’s not every day that you meet kind strangers.”
You almost mumbled the last part. He quirked his brow, holding out the packet of tissues for you to take. “Why do you say that?”
The tip of your finger brushed against his as you took the packet. The touch felt like electricity, you glanced up at him wondering if he felt it too. Instead, he was staring at you with curiosity. You focused on cleaning up your palms, the pain dulling slightly. You’d still have to wash them out when you got to work. right, work. You were going to be late.
“I have to go. I’m late.”
He bent down, picking up the clear container of brownies before handing them to you. His smile was soft, understanding. You couldn’t help but scrunch your nose, reciprocating the smile. The sun had come out once more, this time you weren’t sure if it was standing in front of you. “Sounds like you need them a lot more than I do.”
You bowed, dipping your head as you took the treats from him. “Thank you again.” The sincerity laced in your voice wasn’t unnoticed. He dug his hands into the pockets of his pants, watching you intently.
You turned around, beginning to walk away before hesitating. Glancing over your shoulder, you spoke, “Come visit sunshine espresso, I’ll give you a free coffee! on the house.”
You checked your watch, cursing under your breath before taking off in a sprint. You waved to the stranger, smiling as you saw him begin to laugh. You hoped you’d made his day as much as he had made yours.
Clumsy was definitely going to be your new nickname. The amount of times the string of your apron had slid out of your fingers was beginning to frustrate you. Attempting once more, you gave up on knotting the piece of fabric.
“You’re late again!” A teasing voice proclaimed, you rolled your eyes. A part of you felt relieved knowing it was Jisung and not Chan. Sungie as you’d like to affectionately call him was quite a playful individual. Nothing really phased him, until it did. Then he’d bring the whole world down with him. He was quite chaotic, but you liked that about him.
“This time it really wasn’t my fault, a very convincing branch told me that I should give up and go home.” You mumbled, feeling a slight tugging on the string around your waist. You held the material against your stomach as he knotted the apron. You thanked him softly, turning around.
“Well the tree branch didn’t try hard enough, you’re still here!” Jisung stated, hand placed on his hip. You laughed at his statement, playfully pushing against his chest so you could pass him. Container of brownies in hand.
Whoever closed yesterday did a brilliant job, the back was absolutely spotless. You admired how clean it was, continuing out to the front. You loved watching the sunrise from behind the counter in the mornings. It was peaceful.
“Chan’s not here yet?” You questioned, turning around against the counter. Placing the box down, you splayed your hands against the bench.
He shook his head, standing beside the coffee machine. “Nope! I opened all by myself.”
You pouted, teasingly. “Aww poor sungie! can’t leave you with that much responsibility.”
“Okay now you’re just being mean! go do your job before I tell on you.”
You grinned at him, knowing he was joking. Turning around, you used the tongs laid above the cabinet to grab the brownies. Unclipping the sides of the container. You slowly filled the cabinet, taking your time to merchandise them in an enticing way.
“What do we have here?” He sang sweetly, glancing over your shoulder at the treat’s you’d brought. You tried to shoo him away, unfortunately it just ended in a fit of giggles.
“H-Homemade brownies!” You finally managed, closing the sliding doors to the cabinet. Jisung’s expression had softened. You fell silent as you realised what he’d been staring at.
“Y/N your hands...”
“Oh...” You glanced down at them, frowning. They'd started bleeding again. “Yeah I was going to sort that out, do we have any bandaids?”
“Did you fail first aid?” He sassily quipped. You shot him an annoyed glare. He placed his hand on your back, guiding you toward the baker’s bench. “They’re out the back, should be a box in the office.”
The amount of bandaid's it took to cover the grazes was ridiculous. You felt a bit like an idiot. They weren't even neutral colours! They were cutesy hello kitty ones, pink and purple. Oh well... they should be able to withstand the day.
As you returned to the front, your mouth fell open at the scene unfolding in front of you. “Hey!”
“I just wanted to try one.” Jisung mumbled through the brownie he was currently devouring. Crumbs had fallen all over the bench next to the coffee machine. You huffed dramatically; you were going to have to clean that.
He held his hands in front of his mouth sheepishly. “These taste really familiar.”
Your eyes widened slightly, “What are you talking about?”
He looked puzzled. Then as if a lightbulb had gone off in his head he yelled, "I got it!" Jisung waved his finger accusingly. “These are Felix’s recipe!”
You squinted, leaning against the bench next to him. “Whose Felix?”
“My roommate.” He stated, matter of factly as he wiped the crumbs off his face. "Care to explain?"
A sigh fell from your lips as you hung your head forward. There was no point lying to him now. He already knew. You were done for.
"If you couldn't use context clues, I tripped over and ruined the muffins I was supposed to bring in."
He shook his head, "and I thought I was the clumsy one."
You rolled your eyes as he tilted his head, "Wait that still doesn't explain—"
"I bumped into him along the way here and he was so kind as to let me borrow them." His face softened at your explanation of the eventful morning. He smiled lazily, "That definitely sounds like Felix."
"Don’t know where he was going at 5 in the morning though, especially with brownies... I guess you’ll have to ask him about that one." You grabbed one of the nearest cloths, forcing Jisung to move so you could clean his mess. He muttered a sorry under his breath.
"All I hear is chatting right now," Chan poked his head from around the corner. You jumped at the sound of the aussie, turning around to face him. He was wearing casual clothes, all black as usual. What was with him and the lack of colour in his wardrobe?
“I swear I’m getting work done.” You almost whined. Chan flashed you a warm smile. It made you feel more at ease about the whole situation. “I can see that.” He gestured towards the now full cabinet.
You glanced over at Jisung. His cheeks were once again full of brownie, caught in the act as Chan shook his head. Crumbs had fallen onto the floor as he scoffed yet another one. You couldn’t help but giggle at his antics. Someone had obviously skipped out on breakfast.
“Alright don’t choke on it!” Chan warned, crossing his arms over his chest. Jisung carefully slid the cabinet closed once again, having demolished at least two of the treats.
“Whoever decided to put freeze dried coffee in brownies is a genius!” Jisung stated, smiling dumbly as he rubbed his stomach through the apron. You shot an amused look at Chan.
Chan raised his brow, surprise evident on his features. He turned toward you. “You made coffee brownies?”
Your eyes darted to Jisung. You hoped to hell he’d play along with your little charade. There was a glint of mischief in his eyes. You shook your head subtly, as a warning. “Yeah! I thought it’d make it unique.”
You cringed at the lie that rolled of your tongue. Jisung bit on his lower lip to prevent him from laughing at how uncomfortable you looked. He almost wanted to take a photo of your expression. It was priceless.
"Alright, well I just came to check up on the open, I'll be back at three." Chan’s voice lowered, directing his attention to Jisung. "You eat any more of those brownies and you'll be paying for Y/N's next batch yourself."
Jisung smiled cheekily while nodding. He glanced at you, trying to suppress a laugh. As soon as Chan had left, you rested your forehead against the wooden bench. A groan escaped your mouth. "This is so going to bite me in the ass." You side eyed Jisung. "I'm going to have to ask Felix for the recipe, aren't I?"
He simply shrugged; amusement evident on his face. Oh this was going to be so much fun.

Part 10:
Larissa smiled at me from her place hanging up the red silk, I was adjusting a center piece, I continued to work when I felt her wrap her arms around my waist and kiss my cheek. She delicately spun me to face her,
I blushed looking down at the floor, the dj who was setting up his table for the dance began to play a slow song, and Larissa smiled,
"Dance with me darling?"
She pouted giving me puppy dog eyes and I relented, she pulled my body flush with hers, her hand on the small of my back, and laced her fingers through my own in her other hand, I held her shoulder. She kissed me softly while we danced, and held me tight, she whispered softly in my ear while we danced,
"I couldn't have done this without you darling, the ball room looks perfect"
I smiled softly,
"You did everything, I merely hit the purchase button and helped set it up"
Larissa smirked kissing my cheek,
"I was thinking..."
She added while twirling me, I laughed and she dipped me her voice taking on a seductive tone,
"...Will you go to the dance with me?"
I flushed looking at her face to see if she's serious,
"Honey what about the boys? Whose going to watch them?"
Larissa smiled,
"Maybe you could get your mom too?"
I blushed,
"Darling I couldn't ask her to do that"
Larissa smirked,
"Then I will ask her, come on it will be perfect, its the Saturday after the game, I'll help clean the house if the girls trash it. Your mom can come spend the night, that way all of the boys belongings are there and after the dance you and I can go stay at the new house"
I bit my lip, before nodding softly she smiled and lifted me back up to eye level before spinning me again,
"Then it's settled, I'll call your mother while your at class, and afterwards you and I can go grocery shop, before the girls are shuttled over to the house"
I nodded and kissed Larissas cheek, when we had finished decorating the ballroom, Bianca Barclay set up a table put front to sell tickets for the dance, she passed me her brownies she had made and I smiled.
"Sea salt and caramel, excellent work Bianca, good luck with ticket sales"
Bianca smiled and I turned to walk away, I cut Larissa a brownie and handed it to her on a napkin, she smiled walking back to her office with it while I made my way to class.
They filed in quietly, Wednesday Enid and Yoko were looking over the playbook, each of then had their trays neatly wrapped and set aside. Xavier and Ajax, Kent and Divina , and Eugene all filed in setting their brownies aside, at their desks, and waited for the bell to ring and class to begin. I smoothed my skirt,
"I see everyone completed the assignment, Mrs. Barclay's been excused from class this period to sell tickets for the dance, and I am going to task you with filling her in on the new assignment, and I will email her the recipe and notes. With that being said, today we are going to be making my wife's favorite food, and a comfort food for many homemade baked Mac and cheese"
I lay out the ingredients before them,
"Now, if any of you are lactose intolerant, please take any medication now, this will make your stomach hurt and I do not want to be the reason any of you are sick"
Yokos hand shot up, and I called on her,
"What are the chicken bacon and bread crumbs and panko for?"
I smirked,
"Good catch, as I said this is my wife's favorite and comfort food, not just any homemade Mac and cheese the best homemade Mac and cheese. So it is also going to include jalapeños for a little spice, homemade fried chicken and bacon diced within it"
I began with the rue for the Mac and cheese showing then the amounts they needed to add of each ingredient, and then poured the noodles into the water while it boiled, I then showed them how to prepare the chicken.
"Your going to flatten it with a meat tenderizer, and then dip it in the egg yolk to saturate the chicken once it's been yoked, dip it in your flour breadcrumb panko mixture and easily drop the chicken breast into the hot oil for approximately fifteen minutes, or until it is a nice deep golden brown, once you remove it, check the chicken with your meat thermometer, your fried chicken should have an internal tempature of one hundred and sixty five degrees farenheit.. if it doesn't ease it back into the oil and check again in five minutes"
The students all watched with smiles on their faces,
I removed the chicken from the oil, turned the oil off and set it aside,
"Your going to set down paper towels on a tray and place a draining wrack for your chicken over it. That way the oil can seep out of it. We're gonna go back to our pasta check that it is perfect and then add it to the rue. Perfectly cooked pasta, al dente pasta specifically, takes anywhere from eight to ten minutes depending on the type of pasta, rotini specifically takes seven. Please utilize your timers, no one wants crunchy pasta"
I removed the boiling pot from the stove and drained the pasta into the strainer , showing them how to save some pasta water.
"With your pasta strained add it to your rue, with your pasta water, folded the pasta in your rue making sure its coated, now we are going to take about a cup and a half of heavy whipping cream and two cups of milk , and pour that in, then we are taking a pound of each of our seven cheeses and melting that into the pasta. Save some of your shredded cheese for the top layer and baking. Once it's fully melted and it makes that nice gooey cheese sound, we're going to remove it from the heat and place it in our baking dish, and sprinkle some of the cheese and bread crumbs on top, placing in our cooked bacon and jalapeños, and chicken that should be cut into nice even strip and back on three hundred fifty degrees farenheit for about twenty minutes"
The students watched in awe of every detail, while it baked they helped me clean up the kitchen, I heard a hum of approval from the door frame, and the students giggled slightly when I blushed. Larissa stood with a bouquet of flowers and a small stuffed animal, the students made room for her and Larissa came over and hugged me in my apron kissing my forehead.
"I could smell it from down the hallway"
Her stomach grumbled comically,
"Hungry? It should be done soon, the students and I were gonna eat it here and bring you some but since you joined us this is an excellent opportunity"
Larissa smirked, standing aside,
"I am going to show you how to prepare a table for a guests, in this cabinet behind me their are table clothes place settings cutlery and plates. With different vases for center pieces, now Principal Weems has deemed that this is a lunch date, so I'll show you how to prepare for that"
I grabbed a table cloth from within the pantry, a red one with lace embellishments and trim, I grabbed silver placemats, and cutlery and plates and a vase for the roses, I set up the table,
"You want a table cloth that will compliment the tables shape, because we have a circular table, we want one that's long enough to hide the tables legs, like a ladies skirt or dress we want it to add a little mystique"
I fanned the cloth out on the table, I began setting the placemats, and placing the plates carefully and ornately. Along with the silverware, I grabbed a glass of sparkling apple juice from the fridge in the school's kitchen, and grabbed to glasses,
"When your pour beverages for a guest or, your date, you do so elegantly and delicately, careful not to spill on them or yourself, and you do not sit until your guest is seated."
I pulled out a chair for Larissa and she sat tentatively, hesitant to be apart of the lesson I smiled, when she sat, and I gently pushed her chair in. The timer went off signifying that the Mac and cheese was done, I carefully removed it from the oven, and showed them how to plate the food.
"Your guest should always take the first bite, so serve them first, and after they eat you can begin"
I set down Larissa’s plate and she smiled kissing my cheek, and took a bite, and the students followed suit, Larissa hummed her approval and the students followed suit. Finally I took a bite, and smiled happily,
"So that's your homework assignment, your going to make your own homemade Mac and cheese, and let's make it a contest, if anyone can make one that's indistinguishable from mine, and my wife, your principal can't tell them apart. I will treat the winner to a gift card to the weathervane"
Larissa smiled,
"Yes, I will even sweeten the pot with a gift card for two to the local movie theater."
I smiled, cleaning up the wrest of the dishes from class and packing up the Mac and cheese for at home. I quickly emailed Bianca the ingredients list the directions, and all of the table serving etiquette instructions, along with the assignment. When the bell rang and the students left Larissa finally handed me the stuffed animal, it had on a small t-shirt that read,
"Will you be my date to the Rave'N?"
I smiled and nodded kissing Larissa on the lips,
"Your Mother is more then happy to watch the boys, she came and got them for the night so we wouldn't have to watch a bunch of teenagers and them. She's in my office waiting for you to say goodbye to them, and then my dear when your no longer in your apron you and I are going dance clothes shopping and grocery shopping before the horde of famished soccer stars arrive"
I laughed softly, and finished up my Mac and cheese while Larissa did the same. I washed our dishes, and closed up my classroom and walked with Larissa to the office where my mother sat with the boys. They rushed me immediately and clung to me, and I felt my heart pull a little,
"Mommy we gonna miss you and Mama lots, only couple nights right mommy right? Then home and snuggle you"
It was Tristain who spoke, I nodded and kissed his head tears in my eyes, Oliver spoke up,
"Mommy no cry, why crying? No sad, why Mommy sad Mama?"
He looked over at Larissa who was being strong for the both of us, she knelt next to me and kissed the three of them,
"Because Mommy has never been away from you for long, so you need to be brave for her because she's going to miss you all so much and she loves you so much"
Oliver nodded, and Pugsley smiled gently stroking my face,
"We'll be alright mommy, you'll be otay"
I nodded my head and kissed them all again, and we waved goodbye when my mother took then away. Larissa hugged me for a while, and rubbed my back, she kissed my forehead,
"Honey it's gonna be okay"
I nodded, emotion racking my voice,
"I know that, I just I'm gonna miss them"
Larissa kissed me and chuckled softly,
"Oh honey, it will be okay, now come on apron off, it's time to go shopping"
I nodded and removed the apron hanging it on a hook, I put my coat on and grabbed my purse and Larissa followed suit escorting me to our car. She opened the door for me and I stepped inside of it buckling up immediately, she climbed inside and turned on the radio, buckling up and began the drive to the mall in Burlington. When we arrived she let me out of the car and with her hand on my waist guided me inside, it was only two and the girls wouldn't be headed over until seven pm. We took our time in the stores, Larissa found her outfit almost immediately, but wouldn't let me see it on her, I struggled to find a dress. I was getting frustrated, since having the twins it had been hard for me to find anything that made me feel confident. It was after the fortieth dress that I tried on that I broke down crying, Larissa had been wandering the store when she walked by the fitting room to check on me and heard my muffled sobbing.
Larissa’s voice was soft and full for concern,
"Darling why don't you let me in, I want to help...please"
I hugged my sides and shook my head,
"Please don't, I-I don't want you to see me like this"
Larissa’s brow furrowed,
"Honey please, its not anything I haven't see before"
I shook my head mentally thinking,
"Yes it is, you get the dressed up, fully clothed only in the dark with a night gown on sex now, never fully naked or exposed or without soap or steam to influence your point of view"
Before I could verbally protest any further she was entering the fitting room, her eyes looked over my body, and I flinched closing my eyes not wanting to see her face. It wasn't until I felt her forcing me to my feet, that I looked at her, she was kneeling before me and kissing every curve, every scar and stretch mark. Tears ran down my face in small rivulets, and she rose to her feet, wiping away my tears,
"Shush darling, you are to pretty to cry, it's okay"
I shook my head and hugged my sides, and she tilted my chin up, so I would meet her gaze,
"You are a mother, you are my wife, and you are a beautiful woman, stretch marks and scars are just places where the stars melded into flesh, and formed the beautiful body before me. Now I need you to trust me, sit tight, I am going to find your dress for the dance"
I opened my mouth to speak and she gave me a look, kissing my lips, I sat back on the bench and when she returned she passed me a few things to try on. Every dress fit perfectly, I smiled, she took the three that I liked and chose the one that matched her outfit, and paid for it. She grabbed me heels and accessories, and we made our way out of the mall. She got me my favorite snack, and we left. We made our way to the grocery store from the mall, and when we arrived Larissa did most of the shopping for snacks and treats, for dinner, I paid. When we got home she told me to take a bath while she cooked the meal for the girls, when I had finished my bath I came downstairs to a full kitchen. The girls were snacking on the vegetable and fruit dip Larissa had grabbed and she was putting the desserts in the oven.
I ordered pizza wings and salad, and when i had finished the call Larissa hugged me from behind,
"Feel better darling?"
I nodded sleepily, and she smiled, the girls filed into the living room and voted on a horror movie. Larissa and I curled up in the lazy boy, under a blanket and watched it with the girls. She kissed my forehead and rubbed my back, and when the pizza boy arrived I paid them, I grabbed a bowl of salad and ate it silently. The girls were laughing eating pizza and watching the movie, Larissa noticed I had not touched much of the food, and beckoned me into a separate room.
"Darling what's wrong? I know your hungry, I can hear your stomach growling, and you barely any of your fried dough bites"
I fidgeted nervously making sure none of the girls had noticed our absence,
"I-I just feel off, like I'm not comfortable in my own skin"
Larissa shook her head and held me close at the first sign of my tears and kissed my forehead rubbing my shoulders, Bianca poked her head around the corner,
"Hey,Ms. Weems are you okay?"
A few of the girls had followed her apparently our absence had not gone as undetected as I had hoped, Larissa looked up at them smiling softly, Yoko spoke up having read my thoughts.
"She's been struggling with food lately and her self image, every time she looks in the mirror-"
I looked at Yoko and she stopped talking, Larissa knelt eye level with me, and she kissed me reassuringly. Yoko extended to me a small packet, it looked like a juice box but it wasn't.
"You need this, more then you think, even if you don't want it morally, your body physically needs it. My cousin has an eating disorder, at first she saw the results she wanted but then her brain found more and more things to pick at, and she ended up hospitalized. So as a fellow vampire and someone who really looks up to you. I am telling you, you need this, you can't keep living like your only psychic and ignoring that part of you. Drink it, it will help"
Larissa went to the sink, and checked the blood bag bin and frowned,
"Honey, this is full, you haven't been feeding?"
I felt panic claw at my chest,
"You've seen me eat-"
Larissa shook her head, she looked furious and worried all at once,
"That's not what I meant and you know it"
I began to shake, I gripped my sides, and turned away from her from the students. I walked towards the door and put my rain coat on, I stepped outside, and heard the door slam behind me. I began to walk, when I heard the sound of wet feet running after me, I turned to see Larissa running towards me, she was crying. I had made her cry,
" y/n please come back inside, we can tall about this, I can help you"
I stopped in my tracks, I couldn't handle seeing Larissa upset, I relented and she seemed to calm down. She guided me inside, and the girls were all in the living room giving us space. Larissa poured some blood into a cup for me and heated it up like tea, she mixed in some chocolate powder and milk, it looked like raspberry hot chocolate. I drank it for her, and then I ate some pizza, she held me while I ate and kissed me. I had drained five blood pouches by the time the movie was over, and I felt much better, Larissa carried me over tobthe lazy boy and we sat together. She kissed my cheek, and played with my hair, eventually I drifted off to sleep in her arms. When I awoke she was saying goodnight to the girls, and apologized for earlier, I pretended to sleep still in her arms. And when she lay me in bed, she climbed in after me once she had put pajamas on and I rolled over holding her while she relaxed.
"Ris?"
Larissa looked over at me,
"Yes love?"
I shifted closer to her,
"Are you mad at me?"
She shook her head softly,
"No baby, but you did scare the hell out of me earlier, it's no wonder you've been feeling off"
I nodded in relief and kissed her softly passionately, she sighed content and buried her face in my neck while I gently caressed her arms.
When I awoke the next morning, I got dressed and made the girls breakfast, Larissa went over plays with them while they ate, and when it was finally time and they were dressed for the game we filed into the bus and made our way to the championship game arena. I had the medkit, and the coolers with snacks, I had sunscreen for the girls, Larissa ran them through warm ups and drills. When at last the game began, I sat on the bench near Larissa, and cheered the team on, the game was neck and neck, they were tied when the referee called for half time. The girls ran over breathless and stretched drinking water and refueling with snacks, my mother brought the boys to the game and Larissa and I went over to see them. She hadn't spoken to me at all that morning, whether it was because she was still worried about last night or entirely focused on the game I wasn't sure.
"Hey Ris, please don't tell my mom about last night..."
Larissa looked at me and scoffed slightly,
"Why not? Clearly I can't keep an eye on you all the time, someone else needs to know"
Her words felt like a harsh slap, and I stiffened,
"I -I'm sorry Larissa, I thought you weren't mad, I promise I'll make it up to you"
She looked at me her facial expression full of guilt and bordering on pain,
"I-Y/n I'm sorry, but you could have died... you could have starved to death...and you would have left me, the boys and Wednesday all behind... I wasn't angry anymore last night but then I saw the boys and though of all you could have left behind and it hurt and I got mad... please promise me you'll do better"
I nodded my head,
"I promise"
She nodded and kissed my forehead, she went to the boys and hugged them and thanked my mother again for taking them, I went to them to and kissed them crying softly.
"Mama no sad, only one more night, one more and done, then we back"
I smiled drying my eyes, and nodded,
Larissa guided me back to the bench, I drank a blood pack and sat in silence, the girls were back put on the field and the Ravens had the ball. Enid protected Wednesday who was dribbling it up to field she weaved it through the offensive Knights players legs, passed it to Yoko, who fielded it to Bianca, and then when Wednesday was open again she bicycle kicked it into the goal. The whistle blew, and the Ravens won against the knights, fifteen to thirteen, the girls lined up on the field with Larissa who presented them the trophy, and their picture was taken. When the girls filed back into the bus they were laughing and smiling we stopped by the house so they could grab their bags and belongings and Larissa drove the bus back to the Academy so the girls could get ready for the dance.
Larissa put the trophy with the picture in the frame, and we went home. She was quiet almost the whole way, but then lightened up a little after she ate some of the leftover Mac and cheese, I rubbed her shoulders and she smiled while I sipped another blood pouch. We spent the evening together, Larissa was laughing and smiling, we talked things out. I went upstairs to shower and she locked up, before joining me, I removed my clothes and stepped into the water. Larissa hummed her approval, stripping and joining me, she laced her hands around my waist and kissed my neck. Teasing my sensitive body, she released me when I began to whine and squirm, allowing us to finish our shower. I slipped into my silk night gown, she spooned me close, and I drifted to sleep listening to the rhythm of her heartbeat as a lullaby.
When I awoke Larissa was sitting next to me reading a book, I smiled curling up on her lap, she say the book aside and kissed my forehead.
"I packed our overnight bag for the new place, and set your dress out, the dance is not till later, but we do have time to go get brunch and maybe catch a matinee if you want or catch up on our shows and order in"
I smiled at her excitement on the last sentence,
"So we order brunch for take put and catch up on our shows?"
Larissa beamed,
"Please?"
I laughed and sat up kissing her,
"Of course baby"
Larissa smiled and pulled up Hulu, while I ordered our breakfast, when it arrived we curled up in our pajamas in bed and watched American Horror Story Delicate, Larissa eyed me curiously,
"How are you eating and not feeling icky? She just scarfed down a raccoon"
I smirked Larissa could be so cute and soft sometimes,
"Darling, I literally thrive off of blood, and have seen serial killer psychos do much worse, not to mention when I was training to be a Detective they had us go to a body farm to see the different states of decomposition, after that anything else seems kind of mundane"
Larissa shivered, and scooted closer,
"Do you miss being a Detective?"
I smiled,
"Sometimes, but there's so much risk with that job, if something from work followed me home, and anything happened to the kids or you. I would never be able to forgive myself"
I felt a lump of emotion catch in my throat,
"Besides I always wanted to do something with my cooking, what better way then to teach young outcasts like you and me to fend for themselves, to cook and to clean, how to serve guests, all of thevstuff that comes with being an adult and living life"
Larissa smiled and kissed me,
"You know Wednesday and Enid want to be detectives?"
I smiled softly, an odd sense of pride filling me. Larissa noticed and played with my hair, she kissed my cheek before getting up and taking care of the garbage and leftovers. I sat sipping my iced coffee, when Larissa returned she smiled seeing me with my chocolate mocha raspberry and blood infused coffee.
"You worked up quite a thirst didn't you baby?"
I nodded and she smirked blushing. She lowered the collar on her shirt, I shook my head,
"Baby I can't, I don't know if I'd be able to stop"
Larissa pouted,
"Don't give me that sappy Edward Cullen bullshit, I know you, your stronger then you think, and I'm offering"
She straddled my lap and kissed my neck, I set my coffee aside, and she exposed her pulse point to me, I blushed my nails biting into the mattress.
"Please don't darling"
That caught Larissa’s attention, she climbed off my lap and covered her neck, she caressed my face,
"What is it love? Why not?"
I flushed,
"In drinks it's fine, but taking it from the source, I just-im not ready...I know I did at the hospital, but I didn't have a say in it and I can't consciously do this to you"
Larissa looked at me with so much love and understanding she kissed me softly, a blush spreading on her cheeks,
"I love it when your open and soft with me"
It was my turn to blush, we spent the evening together snuggling and kissing and then it was time to get ready, I awoke from a nap and Larissa was gone a note on the night stand saying to be ready by six pm. I got up and showered. I took my time willing my body to relax , I was anxious and had never been to a dance ever. I had skipped my proms and homecoming, something I never really regretted but not getting ready I was anxious. I wanted it to be perfect, Larissa had told me how the Rave'N had always been a bitter sweet memory for her, I dried off. And slipped on a matching lingerie set, I looked over my reflection in the mirror. For once since having the twins I felt sexy confident even, I did my makeup; a smokey eye , full contour and soft blush paired with a subtle lip color. I was listening to music while I got ready. I had shaved everything and was applying moisturizer before slipping on my nylons. With my nylons on and makeup and hair done, I stepped into my dress using a coat hanger to zip it up. It fit perfectly, hugging my every curve like a glove and complimenting my shape, it was black with a nude fabric underneath it, as if I were only wearing lace. The top was a sweet heart neck line, with a low back and plenty of cleavage exposed, it was clearly expensive and coture. Larissa always had an eye for fashion, I smiled slipping on the accessories she had picked for it and my heels, grabbing a small clutch. I heard Larissa call me from downstairs,
"Darling I'm here, are you ready?"
I spritzed on the perfume I knew drove Larissa wild and made my way carefully down the steps. Larissa looked stunning, a dazzling smile on her face, she had on a beautiful suit with a corset top that complimented her shape and long legs, she was holding a corsage, I pulled the boutenir I had purchased out of the fridge and delicately pinned it to her suit coats lapel.
"You look absolutely stunning"
I gushed kissing her softly, she smiled quietly drinking in my form, her hands teasingly traced my curves and I bit my lip to suppress a moan she smirked,
"You my dear are a work of art, and as much as I love this dress on you, I want to see it in a pile on our floor"
I gasped and a pleased rumble emitted from her throat, she kissed the column of my throat, and guided me outside her hand on my back, and opened the car door for me, drinking in the view as I dipped down to get in the vehicle. When she climbed into our vehicle, her hand on my thigh she drew teasing circles in the fabric of my gown. When we arrived at the Academy she lead me inside, she stroked my back, and passed off our tickets. We entered in their were already so many students in the ball room, they were dancing and laughing and almost as soon as we arrived their attention turned to us. Wednesday and Enid immediately came over they complimented us both, Enid gushed over my dress, she had a on a soft grey blue dress, and Wednesday had on a simple black pair of dress pants a shirt with a tie of a similar shade. Students approached us in a similar fashion throughout the night complimenting us, the decor and thanking Larissa for throwing the dance. Eventually a slow song played, I was filling up a drink at the punch bowl, when I felt her arms embrace me. I sighed contentedly,
"Darling, dance with me?"
I blushed as red as the punch and Larissa smiled,
"It will be like at our wedding, I'll guide you through it"
I nodded softly, she guided me over to the ballroom floor, that was all but empty it would seem the students did not care for slow dances. Larissa planted her hands firmly on the small of my back, and I held her shoulders, she smirked softly, and I sang to her while we danced. The students watched and took pictures, recorded, us dancing, and then the song changed to something a bit more suggestive. I went to move away, and Larissa pulled me flush against her, I blushed a small yelp escaping me. She giggled purring seductively, she manipulated my body on the dance floor with ease. Dipping me low and kissing my neck,
"Ris there's children, your students, we are not alone"
Larissa mocked a bite to my throat, and when she tilted her head back, she had shifted her eyes a golden color and fake blood ran from her lips. Now I understood the dances theme, a vampire ball. The students clapped and she shifted back to normal, I blushed my face red, Larissa smirked,
"A round of applause for my wife, who was an unknowing participant in my little performance"
The students clapped and I turned an even brighter shade of red, eventually the dance ended and the students had cleaned up everything and gone to their dorms. It was just Larissa and I, with the DJ, she walked over to him whispering something softly, and we slow danced to the song that played at our wedding. I began to tear up, as Larissa guided me about the dance floor, she kissed me delicately on the lips. We paid the DJ, and when he left we locked up the ballroom and went to the new house, Larissa lifted me out of the car and carried me over the threshold, she kissed me passionately and I moaned.
Larissa locked the door behind us and guided me to our master bedroom, she unzipped my dress and hung it up in the closet and did the same with her suit, she bit her lip admiring my body in the lingerie.
She raked her eyes a long my form and couldn't suppress the guttural moan that pulled from her throat, I flushed whimpering, I sat on the edge of the bed and slipped my panties aside gently stroking my folds, teasingly slow. Her eyes traced my movement and her perfectly manicured brows furrowed,
"What exactly do you think your doing?"
I stopped and blushed, she sauntered over to me confidence in every step, she tilted my chin up to meet her gaze. I opened my mouth to speak and her thumb traced my lip, she smirked her tongue flicking out to wet her teeth.
"Use your words pet"
I practically shuddered with arousal at the nickname, and she hummed her eyes glazed over with lust as she lengthened her cock, shifting her anatomy, I sputtered. And she smirked,
"I- I- Ris I need you"
Larissa hummed in quiet thought, gently caressing my face before lightly slapping it and choking me, the actions through me off balance and instantly I felt arousal flood my core. She snickered sadistically,
"Awe poor baby, mommy hasn't even touched you yet, and your already speechless, that's to bad. Mommy's just gonna have to fuck her little bunny dumb, isn't she?"
I moaned at her words a sense of shame filling me, she gently pushed me back on the bed, she tugged down my soaked thong with a single digit, I whimpered at the feeling of her hands so close to where I desperately needed her. She removed my bra, and kissed me slowly, teasing every inch of my skin with her lips tongue and teeth, she sent sparks of electricity through every neuron and synapse, a fire bloomed and burned within my stomach. She was absolutely maddening and deliberate with her every movement, a smirk played on soft beautiful lips,
"What's wrong bunny, feeling desperate?"
I could tell from the playful lilt in her tone that she wanted me to beg, and I was in dire need of release, so I begged and pleaded with her. She smiled,
"Oh honey that's all you had to do,spread for mommy"
I spread my legs and practically screamed when I felt her fingers make contact with my clit she hummed and moaned,
"That's it such a good little whore for mommy, my perfect little fuck bunny"
She sucked hickeys into my skin, marking me up completely, when finally she slid her cock inside of me she growled and I whimpered. Something within both of us snapped and in a blur of flesh and the sound of the smqcking of wet forcefully colliding, we climaxed, orgasming in sync. Fully enraptured within one another's arms she collapsed on top of me and I through the blanket over us.
"I love you Larissa Weems"
She hummed sleepily kissing me gently,
"I love you to bunny"

➢ Eddie Munson's eating habits and food head canons — PART 1:
→ ✿ ← Flowers will provide links to fanfictions of mine in which I used the headcanon above.
→ ☘︎ ← Clover will provide the link to an in-detail headcanon.
{TW: Food, Eating—Eddie’s little bit weird eating habits, Child Neglect, Overeating, Pot Brownies, Trailer Park Stigmatization, Manners, etc.}
Has eaten a worm for 10$ when he was 12.
→ [✿]
..."Please tell me that's a joke!" I squeal, sitting next to Eddie on the floor of my living room. He shakes his head, dipping another fry in his chocolate milkshake. "Nah, honest earned money." "You ate a worm for ten dollars," I exclaim, making him chuckle. "Yeah, because I was twelve and stupid. Today I would charge at least twenty bucks to eat one," he tells me proudly. "How about I give you fifty, and you promise to never eat a worm again?" "Deal, sweetheart." Grabbing my hand, Eddie shakes it eagerly, a boyish smirk on his lips. "See? Eating worms is already bringing in profits."...
Likes every flavor of milkshake there is. He loves that shit, so don't make him choose.
→ [✿]
Wayne used to bribe him with them when he was little. Trips to the dentist, doctor appointments, or tutoring sessions were rewarded with dinner at the diner afterward.
Dips his fries into his chocolate milkshake because “The sweet and the salty balance each other out."
→ [✿]
These are also top-tier for him:
salted caramel
Bacon & Chocolate
salted pretzels in chocolate
Popcorn and M&M’s
PB&J
He hates eating fish. The smell is enough to make him gag.
→ [☘︎]
This hate extends to:
Fish sticks.
Seafood.
Sushi. → May be interested in trying sushi without fish... But as he can't even look at raw fish you’d need to serve it to him in a safe environment.
Hates olives.
Loves apples.
He’s constantly snacking one if Wayne bought a bag. It's the crunch and that they’re juicy.
Drinks straight from the carton or bottle. (yes. milk, juice & soda)
Says that they wouldn't make it so easy to drink from them if you weren't supposed to, and it saves you from cleaning a glass.
When alone, eats out of the pan or pot instead of grabbing a plate. Doing dishes sucks.
Has pretty good table manners. (-if he wants to)
Wayne was very keen on teaching them to him. Little Eddie never cut his meat, digging into meals like a starving, feral hyena.
There is already the stigma of being uncultured and dirty following them as residents of a trailer park; Wayne wants his boy to be able and prove people wrong. Do good. Can't have him burp, talk with a full mouth, and tear the meat on his plate apart with his hands, never using cutlery. (Little Eddie was a hungry little raccoon.)
Healthy relationship with food. (Thanks to Wayne)
Used to overeat until he was sick.
After his mom died, there was never anything to eat at home. He was scared of being hungry and didn't know when the next time he'd get something to eat was.
Will finish your plate for you if you're stuffed. He's a big boy. He can eat a lot.
Loves everything cheese. Especially snacks.
Good at baking.
He found out that he's good at it when making pot brownies for the first time. Since then, he has made cakes for important celebrations like the end of a campaign and birthday cakes for friends, himself, and Wayne, muffins, and even more brownies—family-friendly ones as well.
Loves spicy food but doesn't have a high tolerance for it. He still eats it, even though he suffers a little.
Gareth once brought Eddie a bag of Rebanaditas (watermelon lollipops covered in spicy chili powder) from his vacation in Mexico. Eddie loves them and still has a couple of them stored away for special occasions.

Book Two of Hexed - The Fury of Zaun (Vi × POC!Reader) - Ch.20
Next Upload Date: September 30th
Act 2: Chapter Twenty - Winter Woes
Warnings: Mentioned child abandonment, struggles in winter time, talk of freezing to death/hypothermia, war talk, Vi and Mel have a conversation
Summary: The first winter snowfall is officially here, throwing Zaun into chaos. But, in the chaos, the plans continue to move forward. Deals are made, people discuss their next moves and you’re one step closer to Piltover’s retribution.
It was one of the rare days that Vi wasn’t on patrol. She was supposed to be on a date with Y/n but she had an emergency and cancelled. Vi suspected it might have to do with the snowfall this morning. She wanted to ask if she needed to come down to the city, but Y/n had let her know it was unnecessary before she even asked. So that led Vi to being dragged to the Councilor building by Jayce when he ran into her. The Councilor building was hot, hot enough to forget that it was snowing outside if you didn’t look out a window. Vi found a chair to sit in while Jayce rambled about their progress with catching her sister. Thanks to winter being on their doorstep, it made it harder to stay out longer than necessary. There was concern over Enforcers freezing and they were trying to figure out how to upgrade the uniforms. Vi didn’t care about it as long as they were delayed.
Vi yawns, wondering if Jayce would notice if she takes a nap. He was very good at making people bored enough to fall asleep. Her dates with Y/n were the highlight of her week and got her through days like this. Jayce stopped talking just as Vi was about to nod off, and she forced her eyes open in interest.
“Mel!” Jayce grins past Vi’s spot on the couch. Vi sits up and makes eye contact with Mel who’s dressed as impeccable as always.
“Good afternoon, Vi.” Mel smiles pleasantly.
“Afternoon, Mel.” Vi nods in return, “You’re done with your paperwork for today?” Although they didn’t speak much, their interactions have been very friendly since the gala. Vi had been put on security for Mel at some point and they surprisingly had a lot to talk about. They had similar ideas and viewpoints, even the same taste in food! It was a pleasant surprise for Vi to find a councilor who’s in touch with the world around them.
“Ah, I haven’t seen the inside of my office today and I don’t intend to.” She winks, lifting her hands to show that she’s holding two milkshakes, “I actually came to find you.”
”Are those salted caramel brownie milkshakes?” Vi eyes the drinks in Mel’s hands, clearly wanting one.
“Yes, and this one’s for you.” Mel hands it to her, chuckling at the sparkles in Vi’s eyes, “Y/n told me it was your favorite. My mother and I met with her early this morning before my mother left for Noxus.”
“I…” The words die on Vi’s tongue as she gingerly accepts the drink, “Thank you. I can pay you back for it later.”
“There’s no need.” Mel holds up a hand, “Come on. You’re going on a walk with me.” She takes a drink from her milkshake, humming in satisfaction as she starts walking away. Vi glances at Jayce as she gets up, seeing his shocked expression at not getting Mel’s attention. She snorts out a laugh, choosing to drink from her milkshake instead as she follows Mel. They leave the room and walk in silence as they enjoy their drinks. The Councilor building is always active as assistants, merchants, and other people pass by for their meetings. Due to her security details, Vi learned that Mel liked to wait until she was in a secure place before talking. She didn’t mind that at all after Jayce talked her ears off. They got to Mel’s office and Vi couldn’t help but grin at that.
“I thought you weren’t going to be here?” Vi asks as she holds the door open.
“I’m not.” Mel smiles mischievously, “If anyone needs me, Elora will be handling that.”
“How did you find me?” Vi raises an eyebrow, “I didn’t think anyone saw Jayce kidnap me. You’re my hero.” She says jokingly.
“Y/n told me she wasn’t seeing you today, so I figured Jayce would take advantage of that. And, I was right.” Mel chuckles as she takes a seat, then frowns, “I’ve been meaning to check on you. Every time I’ve gotten a free moment, you’re off doing work or taking lessons. So I knew I needed to grab you away at some point.” She watches as Vi takes a seat across from her, hanging her legs over the arm of the chair.
“Check on me?” Vi furrows her brow, “Why?”
“I know exhaustion when I see it. Every time I see you on or off the job, you look like you’re about to fall over… although you hide it very well.” Mel says gently, “...Are you satisfied with your placement at the Kiramman’s?”
“Am I satisfied being at the Kiramman’s?” Vi parrots, blinking at Mel, “I… no one has asked me that before. I guess I am. I mean- they’re a great host.” She struggles with what to say. ‘What do I say to that?’ Vi thinks. ‘Do I be honest or…?’
“You can be honest. This will stay between us. I will be the first to admit that I am not as fond of the Kirammans as I should be. Cassandra has given me some pointers over the years, but I do not agree with her mindset.”
“What do you mean?”
“I’m sure you know of her attitude towards Zaunites and people generally not a part of the noble class. Not unless they bring her something of value.”
“I’ve noticed.” Vi chuckles, not feeling amused, “The only people in that manor who are genuinely kind people are Tobias and the staff. I felt like I couldn’t do anything without Cassandra’s permission or having Caitlyn by my side. I would sneak out to get fresh air, but that got exhausting after some time. Tobias has made my stay at the manor less… painful. He approached me in the library one day and he’s made it his mission ever since to spend time with me. The staff leaves behind little treats outside the door or they’ll leave me food when I haven’t eaten. The only time I’m at the manor is to sleep, but even then I tend to nap in other places. It’s… not the place I really want to be at.”
“I put in a request to reassign you to my mansion this morning.” Mel admits, “I would have done it sooner, but I didn’t have a chance to talk with you about it. The reasoning I gave is that you’re in a relationship with a family member so you’d be more comfortable with me.”
“Family mem… Y/n?” Vi perks up.
“Yes. According to Noxian laws, she’s technically family. And, I agree with Y/n that Piltover needs an overhaul.” She steeples her hands, “War is coming to Piltover, Vi. You need to make your decision before then.”
“Decision? There’s no decision I need to make.” Vi shakes her head.
“Your sister. Jinx.” Mel’s words startle Vi, “You need to decide if you’re protecting her or helping the Enforcers bring her to justice. You won’t be able to hold them off forever.”
“I know.” Vi sighs heavily, running a hand through her hair, “I know.”
~
You were running through the streets of Zaun, a child clutched to your chest because their life depended on it. It started snowing before it was predicted to and preparations hadn’t been finished. There were still families who didn’t have the proper items to keep them warm. You had gotten lucky while doing your usual rounds. You heard wailing in a normally abandoned area of the city. It was a place children were frequently left in when their parents couldn’t care for them. It was a very fragile situation. You’d either find a child sick and dying or a dead body. There were too many mouths to feed and not enough people able to care for them. The baby had been left swaddled in a blanket too thin to keep it warm. It was likely the only thing its parents could have found before leaving it behind. It was the sad reality of winter in Zaun. But, it wouldn’t be like that anymore.
“I’VE GOT AN EMERGENCY!” You scream the moment you see the Temple. You were panicking. You had wrapped the baby up in your coat hoping that the fur on the inside would warm it up quickly. But, you knew the signs of hypothermia. This baby might not survive unless it gets proper care.
“I’ll take it!” One of the acolytes intercepts you and you urgently hand the baby over.
“Hypothermia.” You tell her and she nods before running off with the baby. You watch as they disappear into the Temple before tuning into what’s going on around you. Dozens of Zaunites are waiting in line for their handouts of blankets and coats. There are various barrels burning around the area to bring warmth to the people huddled around them. You let out a long exhale, feeling a hand on your shoulder and turning to the person. Scar gives you a soft look.
“I know it’s hard.” He squeezes your shoulder, “We’ll get through this.”
“Thank you, Scar.” You pat his hand, “It’s a slow process, but we’re doing much better.”
“I’m sorry you had to cancel your date with Vi this morning.”
“There are more important matters than a date. Securing Zaun is one of them.” You give him a small smile, “My meeting this morning with Councilor Medarda was a long, but productive one. I’ve secured our assistance from Topside.”
“It’s still unbelievable that a Councilor wants to help us.” Heather comes over with two mugs of coffee in her hands, “Well, two of them.”
“Yes, Councilor Shoola. She’s been down here quite frequently to help.” Ekko startles your little group talking from above you. You look up to see him lounging on his hoverboard, eyes widening as he grins down at you, “What?”
“I hate you.” You giggle, reaching up to yank on his leg.
“I love you, too, sis.” Ekko chuckles, shaking your hand off his leg, “Besides, it’s 3 pm. You and Heather have somewhere to be. Sevika is already at the meeting with the Chem-Barons.”
“Oh, shit.” You curse, sharing a look with Heather before hurriedly downing your coffee. The hot liquid burned your tongue, but drinking something hot and bitter in this weather felt good. Scar takes your empty cup from you as you let out a content sigh. The warmth spreads through you and you rub your arms, remembering that you had removed your coat earlier for the baby.
“Oh, here.” Ekko tosses a coat to you, “I had a feeling you might need another one.”
“You know me too well.” You grin at him, pulling it on, “We’re going to head out now, but you better comm me if I’m needed.” You narrow your eyes at Ekko and Scar.
“Don’t worry, we know.” Scar pats your head. You nod.
“Remind me where we're going?” Heather tilts her head, as you say goodbye and lead her down an alley. You weren’t overly secretive about your powers anymore, but you still liked being discreet with the rifts.
“We’re meeting up with our friends in Piltover.” You let her step through first, following closely behind her, and squint at the sudden light in your eyes. Rifting in and out of the darkness was still a pain to get used to. With a snap of your fingers, you feel the tingling in your horns that signals that they’ve been hidden. Heather is crouched at the edge of the rooftop, looking down into the alley with interest. You crouch down next to her, curious about what has caught her interest so quickly. She points to the opening of the alley, a small cafe with outdoor seating resting at the mouth of it. You didn’t even have to ask her what she was indicating to because you could hear it—a Hex Crystal. It was calling out to you.
“Want another coffee?” You glance at Heather.
“I could go for another one.” She nods, “Besides, I like stealing shiny things.” That makes you chuckle and the two of you jump down from the roof. In another life, you and Heather would have been jewelry thieves together or something. It made you happy that she tended to keep an eye out for hex crystals, especially with her keen eyes.
The two of you link arms, giggling at a silent joke as you walk up to the café. You could smell the coffee from outside the building. It irritated you. Everything in Piltover was far better than the scraps you got in Zaun. Even the coffee beans sold to the people had a bitter taste to them. As much as you enjoyed some of your days up here, they would be tinged red with your hatred.
A bell rings as you slip inside, and you're enveloped with a warmth that's almost too much with a coat on. A quick glance has you confirming that people inside took their coats off. You end up in line while Heather goes to pick a place to sit. The sound of the Brackern within the crystal was making your heart ache. It’s very rare for you to find one outside of Jayce’s tools or workshops, so this wasn’t one you were passing on. Your fingers twitch but you keep yourself focused and give your orders. As you step to the other end of the counter, you hear Heather call out your name. You turn in her direction and see her sitting at a table with a girl who has light pink hair. They wave at you and you wave back, watching closely as they talk.
“Y/n?” Your attention is pulled in front of you, “One spiced mocha and one black coffee?”
“Yes, thank you.” You flash a smile, taking the drinks from the barista. You head over to the table Heather is sitting at and the Brackern’s song gets louder as you do. This was the girl with the crystal.
“Here you go. Black like your soul.” You joke, placing the drink down in front of Heather.
“Thank you, milady.” Heather winks, “I hope you don’t mind the company. This is Seraphine.” She motions to the girl across from her. You take a seat, meet the girl’s eyes, and watch as they widen in surprise. ‘Why would she be surprised to see me?’
“Hello!” Seraphine grins, “It’s nice to meet you.”
“It’s nice to meet you, too.” You nod. You let Heather carry the conversation, pitching in here and there when you feel like it. But, you notice that Seraphine seemed very interested in you. Her eyes would dart over to you while Heather was talking or she’d stare a little too hard when you were. Your drinks were almost done when you finally had an opening.
“My mother got them custom-made for me. Apparently, Jayce liked the challenge of making something that helps drown out outside noise, so he fulfilled her request.” Seraphine hands them over to Heather who inspects them. Casually, she hands it over to you and you feel your fingertips tingle with magic.
“The craftsmanship of these headphones is quite wonderful.” You run your fingers along the band, “You’re lucky to own one of Mr.Talis’ pieces.” You touch the crystal and feel it warm underneath your fingers. You see panic flash into Seraphines’ eyes just before she yanks it from your hands.
“Yes, well, I take very good care of it because of that.” Seraphine’s words come out rushed, “It’s also very special to me in its own way.”
“That’s good.” You smile at her before finishing off your drink, “You ready to go, Heather?” You look to your friend, who nods.
“Yup! We don’t want to be late for our meeting.” Heather stands and pushes her chair under the table, “It was nice to meet you, Seraphine.” She waves, intertwining her arm with yours. Dazed, Seraphine only manages to wave back half-heartedly and you and Heather leave the café. You walk in silence until you’re a good distance away.
“Can I see it?” Heather asks sweetly.
“Of course.” You hold out your hand, the crystal rolling out onto your palm, “She won’t notice it’s gone. The headphones will work normally, just not at the expense of a creature’s soul.”
“I can’t wait until you take out the Hex Gate.” She mutters, careful not to let her voice rise loud enough to be heard, “How many crystals would that be?”
“Hundreds, if Viktor is correct.” You glance at her, “He said he may be off by a couple hundred.”
“Viktor is never off.”
“Tell him that.”
The rest of the walk to Chrissy’s home passed by quickly. It was a quaint little townhouse not too far from the café. Her front door was painted yellow and had the letter C on it. You walk up to the door and knock before taking a step back so you’re not in the way. A couple of seconds pass and the door swings open.
“You’re right on time.” Chrissy’s smile is welcoming as she steps aside to let you in. You hit the snow off your boots before walking in. The inside of her home was a pretty shade of pink and covered in decorations. You take your coat off and hang it on the rack by the door, taking in all of the decor.
“You have a lot of stuff hanging.” You comment while looking at a painting of a Shuriman warrior.
“I’m allowed to keep anything old and unwanted from the Archives. Some of this stuff is from Piltover’s early days following the Runic War. Paintings and other creations from forgotten artists. Everything else is Shuriman.” Chrissy points to a ceramic desert hare, “Except for that. I used to have a pet desert hare when I was younger. It died but my parents had that made for me.”
“That’s sweet of them.” Heather smiles, “It must have been an experience moving here.”
“Very.” Chrissy nods, leading you upstairs, “Shurima is very different from here. It took me a while to figure out how to fit in.”
“Will you tell me more about it, sometime?” You ask, curious about the place the Brackern came from.
“Sure, I’d like that.” Chrissy flashes you a smile. You walk into an open loft that overlooks the front door. Two of the other girls were quietly waiting there, seated on various cushions and blankets.
“Hello.” You and Heather chorus.
“Hello.” They respond.
“Thank you for meeting me.” You sit down, accepting a blanket from Ves, “Today is officially the first day of winter, so it seemed like the perfect time.”
“What’s going on?” Niki asks, “Why today?”
“Winter is a time of extreme grief in Zaun. Children and adults are found frozen to death. With today being the first snowfall, I thought it would be poetic to bring you this warning.”
“Warning?” Ves shifts in place, her brow dropping in confusion.
“Yes.” Heather nods, “Our plans have been set in stone. Now, they’re encased in ice.”
“Starting tomorrow, we will begin disrupting life in Piltover. By the start of spring, we will be going to war.” You place a little flag on the ground. “I’m giving you a chance to protect your families. Every house you don’t want to be harmed should have one of these. No one will touch them.”
“I’m sensing a but.” Chrissy points out.
“But, that only works for the houses. Get your families out of here. Send them on a vacation for a little. I can’t guarantee their lives if their jobs put them in harm’s way.”
“There is a place we can send them. It’s a little island off the coast of here. It’s Ms.Medarda’s private island but I don’t think she’d mind if we use it.” Niki speaks up.
“Perfect.” You smile.
“Do you have any information for us?” Heather takes the focus.
“House Ferrous is always watching. Be careful.” Niki frowns, “Ms.Medarda cautioned me about that.”
“I witnessed some Councilors making a deal the other day. I’m not sure what it was about, but they all seemed happy. I’d recommend checking any upcoming decrees.” Ves sighs.
“Good job.” Heather praises them, “What about you, Chrissy?”
“Here’s the blueprint of the warning bell tower.” Chrissy holds out a rolled-up parchment, “It shows all entrances, exits, and where enforcers should be positioned.”
“This is exactly what I needed.” Heather smirks, “Thank you for getting this.”
You talk for a while about how to get their families out of here. Time off from their jobs, getting the flags on the houses, and even how to avoid suspicion from their bosses. You were impressed by how knowledgeable Chrissy was. It made you happy to know that someone from your childhood was doing well. You didn’t hold her being a Piltoven against her. It was the best life her family could give her. Those weren’t the people you wanted to pay and they would be protected when the time came.
A few hours later, you said your goodbyes. You were anxious to get back to assisting down in the Undercity. It didn’t sit right with you being away for so long during a time of need for your people. Heather went ahead when you realized that Chrissy wanted a private word with you. She pulled you aside into the kitchen, busying herself with the kettle.
“I really am glad you’re okay. There’d be some days where you’d be on my mind and I’d worry about you. About whether or not you were…” Chrissy trails off, nervously fidgeting with her fingers.
“Thank you for your concern.” You put a hand on her shoulder and give it a squeeze, “I mean it.”
“Did you really go through all of that? Is living in Zaun that horrible?”
“It’s not horrible. Don’t get me wrong, Zaun is a hard place to live, but we also do our best to enjoy our lives. I became a sex worker and I enjoy it.” You lean against the counter, “It’s the difference between the cities that isn’t right. Even something as simple as coffee. We pay $3 more and it tastes like burnt dirt. Here in Piltover, it’s smooth and rich with a nice flavor. We get what they don’t want.”
“I’m so sorry.” Chrissy lifts her hand to wipe her cheek and you realize she’s crying. “None of you deserve that. No one does.”
“You may feel conflicted about it, but that’s what this war is for.”
“I don’t feel conflicted. I’m just sad. My heart goes out to all of you. I hope the information I’ve given can help.”
“It’s helped.” You can’t keep the smirk off your face at the thought. Chrissy has supplied you with copies of building blueprints, especially the important ones in Piltover. It was essential to your plans. “It’s helped a lot.”
“Good. Now, don’t let me keep you. You should get back down there.”
“Don’t worry. You haven’t.” You two hug and you head for the door.
~
When you found Sevika, she was focused on whatever item she was working on. The room smelled of her fancy cigars and the spicy scent of her cologne. Sevika’s workshop was one of your favorite places to visit. Ever since she was freed up from the work that came with being Silco’s right hand, she had more time for herself. The weapons enthusiast that she is, Sevika spent a lot of time designing and upgrading things. A lot of the weapons being prepared came from her. So, you were curious to see what she was crafting now. She continued to impress you with her ingenuity and it made you happy to have so many talented people around you.
You leaned in the doorway, watching her move around and screw something down. She wasn’t one to sketch out her ideas. She kept them all in her head, so the walls and desks were much less cluttered than you were used to.
“If you keep looking at me like that, I’ll have to assume you’re here for sex.” Sevika says without looking up from her work. You giggle.
“If I came for sex, we’d be having sex.” You respond, walking over to stand next to her, “What are you working on? It looks volatile.” You say that because of the multicolored chemicals in various tubes. It seems to be an explosion of some sort, but not what you’re used to seeing from her.
“It’s for Jinx. With her birthday being tomorrow, I wanted to give her something extra.” Sevika smirks, her silver eyes filled with mischief.
“Oh, I think she’ll be thrilled for it.” You smirk back, glancing at the blueprints for the treasury. Sevika had made a copy of it and it was marked with various numbers. She had explained to you once that it was how she measured wall integrity. Which ones were load-bearing, how strong they were, and how much force it could take before it failed. All of it was calculated before it was given a number. “After all, you can never have too many party favors.”
“I don’t think Piltover will appreciate the surprise party.” Sevika chuckles, clipping a wire and rerouting it to one of the vials.
“Who doesn’t love a good party?” You lean down against her back, letting your arms drape over her shoulders, “Especially when fireworks are involved?” You can feel her shoulders move up and down in a silent shrug.
“Not that I’m admitting to it, but I enjoy a good firework display.”
“And our Chem-Barons?”
“They’re prepared to completely starve Piltover out. They’re strengthening trade lines with other countries and exporting more to them. By the time the cutoff starts, they should have enough money saved up to get through it.”
“All is going to plan then.” You purr, pressing a kiss to Sevika’s cheek. “Thank you for the hard work you’re putting in.”
“Hard work?” Sevika scoffs. “It’s just another day for me.”
“And tomorrow is a fun day for all of us. I hope you’re ready to enjoy the show.”

I ate so much sugar today. I didn't count Cals but I I have to keep telling myself that I burnt 3500 and I didn't eat more than that from 4 cookies, some cinnamon roll, some goldfish crackers, and stir fry.
The cookies I wish I knew the Cals of but they were too much of a pain to calculate. I low caloried it as best as I could but they were made from melting chocolate and butter, the butter I get is plant based and that makes me feel a bit better. But in general I'm really proud as I made heath salted caramel toasted almond brownie cookies and they're so light and fluffy plus I always love when I can make recipes with our fresh duck eggs
It's so hard to have Ana but also be obsessed with cooking and baking

i took some photos to document my belated Barbie day (i.e. i finally got to see Barbie, and i got to see it in the cinema!!) i will be writing a Cinemescapade for it at some point (that's a series of reviews i'm planning for my website) but for now enjoy these photos.
this is my outfit; i went with the trainers because they're the only pink item of clothing i own (but honestly i want to try some more pink clothing), and i think the jeans and the jumper (the latter of which is my favourite article of clothing i've ever had) fit the Barbie aesthetic.
here's me at the pub beforehand; i had two J2Os, a salted caramel brownie bar and (unphotographed) bangers and mash:
the cinema was doing a 2 for £12 on cocktails today, and with my cinema membership discount it was just under £11. i had a Sex on the Beach (i just thought it felt like a very Barbie cocktail, and then when the beach things were happening it felt like an especially fitting drink), and i tried the cinema's new promotional cocktail for Ghostbusters, a Slime Cooler (it's genuinely a really nice drink that i will be having when i go to see the new Ghostbusters).
and, finally, here's my Letterboxd review of this movie. it's very rare that i write an earnest and heartfelt review of anything, but this was such a special experience to me that i couldn't help myself. my Cinemescapade review will be far more in-depth about my experience and my actual thoughts about the movie, but this captures the gist of it pretty well.

Egotober Day 25: Cauldron
Patton couldn’t help but grin, giggling to himself as he stood over the giant pot on the stove. He felt a bit like a wizard over a potion cauldron, which was fitting considering the season and all the decorations around the mindscape. There was fake spider webbing, actually cute versions of spiders around, ghosts, jack o lanterns, bats, skeletons, you name it. There were even some with a bit of…bloody touch from Remus that was fine in small doses.
As he looked through his recipe book to think of what to make today, couldn’t ever go wrong with spaghetti and meatballs really he decided after a few minutes, he was reminded of the times the past week that the others had come into the kitchen and helped him make something.
Logan had come down first, a bit of a sheepish look on his face when he’d admitted an interest in learning food preparation and Patton had been ecstatic to take him into the world of baking, as he thought it would be more preferred to the logical Side as it needed precise steps. With his peanut allergy and how he liked things not completely sweet in mind, and of course his adoration for Crofter’s, they’d made jam thumbprint shortbread cookies with a bit of lemon to add that tartness. He remembered how Logan had eaten them alongside some finger sandwiches while they’d read together in the library later.
Virgil had been next, in the middle of the night looking for a midnight snack to calm himself down, Patton had talked to him a bit but hadn’t pushed on what was wrong as he’d looked a bit like a scared cat about to bolt. Then he’d gently coaxed him into helping him bake something. He knew that he liked something more subtle, maybe a little bit bittersweet and coffee, so they’d made espresso sea salt caramel semi sweet brownies and had them with a glass of milk while they’d talked about what had had him afraid until Virgil felt comfortable enough to sleep again.
Roman had been next, he’d come down in a sulking pout one day because of artist block and when Patton had seen how hard he was half glaring at his sketchbook, like if he could he’d set it on fire he’d redirected his attention with the offer of cooking. Roman loved strawberries and raspberries and he did not do subtle very well, plus he knew the prince liked to go overboard. They’d not only made a shortcake with layers of cream and mixed berry jam between the cake, but fresh bread and butter to go with pork chops, home fries and Mac and cheese. And Roman had been so delighted by the experience that he’d found his art again.
Remus had been soon after Roman, the Duke had almost scared Patton to death when he’d just popped up behind him. But when he’d calmed down he had kind of…not sheepish or embarrassed, he didn’t think Remus felt either of those things really, but sort of hesitantly asked if he could help make something. Patton had of course said yes and didn’t push why as he sort of felt it was a case of Intrusive Thoughts being too much even for Remus, though Patton had been the one in charge of knives. Remus was a bit like Roman in that he did not do subtle, and he liked contrasting flavors, and they’d made very messy, but very delicious subway sandwiches and a dirt cake with sour sweet gummy worms.
Janus had been the most recent, his opposing Side in a sense had just tapped his shoulder with a secretive smile on his face and asked if he needed help with dinner. Patton had naturally accepted and he knew that Janus liked things a little spicy, flavors that changed in your mouth from one to another like layers in an onion and that he liked lemon. They’d made chicken curry with rice and lemon bars. And they’d actually had a long talk that night that had gone from helping Patton with his issues on pushing too much to Janus’ need to hide when things got too much.
Patton knew things wouldn’t always be easy, there was him to worry over, Roman and Logan still needed to work through various things, but…so long as there was good food and someone to talk to. It would all be ok.

It was way too humid out and I got way too overheated at times but had a good day.
James's phone being broken meant that they couldn't turn their alarm off so they have to restart their phone but I don't remember it going off so I was able to sleep. And when I did wake up I felt pretty good.
At times today my neck would hurt really bad but overall it seems to be doing better. And when I got up I decided that I needed to accomplish a few things but mostly today would be pretty chill. So I got dressed and I did a little cleaning around the apartment. I cleaned the kitty litter. Swiffered and vacuumed the floors. I also decided that I wanted to bake today.
To do that though I had to leave the apartment. I walked out side and went over to the shopping center. There was a lot of old women sitting on the corner today. It's usually old men so I don't know where these ladies came from but it was nice to see them. They were all very nice to me. People get tell me how pretty I was today too which was very nice and I got to the save a lot and started looking for the items that I needed.
I got the milk I needed and I went to go get the brownie batter box and a very nice man was in there trying to figure out which syrup was the best syrup. I explained to him that the one is actual maple syrup and that's why it's $10 and the other is maple flavored corn syrup and that is why it is $1. We decided that he would get the butter pecan maple syrup that is $2. And I hope that it came out good for him.
I also bought a bag of horchata. Always really liked horchata but you don't see it very many places around here. You might closer to highlandtown where it's a more Hispanic population but we're trying to just fun and so I got a bag of powdered mix. I'm going to wait until it's a little cooler before I have it but that would be pretty cool to be able to make it home kind of like I've been able to make Thai tea.
And then I went home. I got really hot. Was very very warm today. Originally was supposed to storm all day and then the rain went away on the forecast and then the sky turned black tonight so I don't know. But it was humid and pretty uncomfortable. But I was determined to make my brownies.
This did not go well. I preheated the oven. At least I thought I did. And then I mixed everything and I put it in the baking tray. I put caramel drizzle and sea salt on top cuz I wanted them to be fancy. And the oven wasn't hot. So I did all of our tricks to get it to kick on. Because the light is on underneath you would think that it would be getting hot but it is not. So we tried on tricks and nothing was happening.
So I just put the tray in there and hope that it would kick on and I would just check on it periodically. I finished cleaning the floors and did a little bit more picking up and then I was very sweaty so I took a shower and when I got out the brownies were still cold. The oven had not gotten hot yet.
I continued to try all the tricks but then I just felt like the apartments smelled like gas and I was very anxious about it so I turned on all the fans. And I kept checking and coming back and was just getting very frustrated. I made a sandwich and tried to just chill but it was very hard because I was feeling some kind of way about it. We need a new oven I think. So I messaged James so that they could let our landlady know that it was a problem and now we just wait to see if she gets back to us about it.
This was all after I gotten out of the shower so my hair was all wet because I decided to wash it and I was getting overheated again already so I laid in bed with my fan in the bed with me. I didn't want to have the air conditioner because I thought with my wet hair would make me uncomfortable. But laying there cooled me down and made me feel a little bit better. Even if I just kept checking on the brownies and they still were not cooking.. very frustrated.
I would have a pretty productive afternoon though. I worked on some more sewing. I finished the first set of frogs and I finished fixing a couple bears and then I got into fixing some of my larger bears that I don't bring to market right now but I will now that I have a whole basket. And I had to cut off two of their heads to give them shorter necks because they looked insane. And honestly they don't look that much better. The one does but the other one still has a lumpy head. But they're a little improved and I don't feel embarrassed putting them out anymore. Though it did look very violent chopping their heads off. It was cosmetic surgery for sure but I think it will improve their quality of life.
I also texted with Celia today about going to the State Fair next week and I chilled for a while. I read for a bit. And it was a nice day even if I was too hot.
Soon James was home. Still no new phone. Even though they paid $30 for it to be delivered today it did not come. Hopefully tomorrow. But it was really nice to see them even if they were very sweaty. And then they told me that Dante had to cancel his visit for next week and it was clear how upset that made James. Would have been nice to have somebody come down to visit and I think it's just one of those things were like a lot of friends are not making the effort when both me and James make the effort to come up to Philly all the time. Nobody else seems to and it just kind of hurts their feelings. Hurts my feelings too. But I understand everyone's busy and it's one of those things you just kind of deal with as you get older.
But I decided to take it into my own hands and text Dante that we need to make a new plan if he can't come next week. And so him and his girlfriend Allie are going to join us camping and I really excited about it. Unclear if they will actually camp with us or spend the night in a hotel but we're still very excited to have them regardless of their choice.
James would work on trying to get the oven to turn on for me and they sorted the laundry. They also took out the trash and I really appreciated that. Eventually they went and took a shower because they were dripping wet and very gross. And then we spend some time hanging on the couch together.
Eventually though we moved to working on our own projects. I would move to the studio to continue selling and James would work on editing their podcast. And that's when, about 4 hours later, the oven finally turned on and we were able to bake the brownies.
James would come in the studio with me while they were baking and they would help me buy stuffing the frog stuffed animals that I was working on and helping to flip their legs. Which is difficult and they struggled with so eventually I took that over and they worked on stuffing the legs for me. And now I have lots of rugs to sew the legs onto tomorrow and I'm really pleased. I was hoping to have more done for the market but that's okay I'm more done than I would have if I did not have the help. I love James so much for helping me all the time.
Elizabeth texted me and apparently she had texted seven other people before she texted me but she asked if it was an all possible for me to come in and help on Monday with the high school group and I honestly was a little bored at home today so while I don't want to work on Mondays because I want that day to be my day off with James I still said yes because I think it will be fun and she seemed super thankful so that was nice. Glad I could help.
We had our brownies on the couch. And watched a video. Spent some time just being together. And now we are getting ready to go to sleep. They are still without phone so they're doing their Spanish lesson online on their computer. And I'm going to go brush my teeth. Tomorrow We go to the market and then I don't know what I'm doing after that. I hope that it is a nice day though. I hope that you guys all have a good night. And let's hope that the bike race that is happening downtown doesn't completely scrub the entire day I make everything terrible because of traffic reasons. Good night everybody.

Asda costa free cappuccino with a salted caramel brownie. Sadly no colleague discount with free drink. Did a 11-5 shift today on checkouts. Grrrrr we have e to hit a scan speed of 26 items a minute. Like i remember when it used to be only 22. Why is everything about numbers and crap? Grrrrr.

Sunny, partly cloudy, low 70s. Perfect summer day weather 👌 OR sweater weather, perfect for hiking.
Being in the woods/hiking
Hazelnut lattes. Salted caramel core Ben and Jerry's. Carrot cake. Fudgy brownies.
Mmm, like the 1960s maybe.
Wanting to spend time with me, babying me, remembering little details, kissing my hand/forehead.
Tall dark and handsome is ideal, any gender.
Wildflowers!
Being in the woods is my favorite smell. Flowers, sun-warmed pine needles, rain, etc.
Idk but a teenage boy at Burger King told me I was really pretty today so that was nice. 😂
I ask about them and listen to the response, remember details about them and their lives, hold emotional space for them (probably more than I should sometimes). If it's more casual, I love flirting and eye contact.
If it's a dream date it would probably involve travel and music.
Coffeeee or cider.
