As much as i am excited for season 5, i can’t stop thinking about how when mike and will get together, milevens are gonna be saying that it came out of nowhere and it doesn’t make any sense and that’s bad writing etc… SIGHH im gonna go crazy on here

wait how could the rest of the party not know about mike and will? they’re so obvious about it. did they not think anything when mike and will were cuddling and sleeping together on one sleeping bag? and what about how they almost kissed in front of everyone at the docks last chapter? will was clinging onto him in the water too! they gotta know a little bit

genuinely i do not think anyone is paying that much attention to them! i think it’s important to note that mike and will have had a very tumultuous relationship for years at this point in acswy canon, and as recently as the start of camp 2023 got into a huge fight — i think that the rest of the party is just grateful to see them get along and isn’t reading too much into it. although this is a mike and will centric story, the rest of the party has their own lives to worry about! what mike and will do beyond being friends and not making it awkward for the rest of them probably isn’t something they’re super concerned about :’)

Everyone who aggressively denies obvious Byler foreshadowing pointed out to them is gonna look awfully foolish when Byler is endgame. It’s one thing to be a GA member and just not know the evidence; it’s another thing to be an avid watcher of the show and be shown specific evidence in great detail, only to be like, “Nuh-uh, this means nothing 🙅‍♂️”

they show argyle and his silly little rainbow socks and then bam we’re gonna pan up to mike wheeler’s face

will gets vecna’d and everyone freaks out (rightfully so) and panics. cassettes are flung across the room, headphones are on and it’s an intense round of the waiting game but will isn’t reacting.

mike gets an idea and sprints up the stairs to retrieve a box full of letters that he wrote when will was in california, but couldn’t work up the courage to actually send them. all signed with “love, mike”

back with will and slightly out of breathe, mike opens the box and digs out the very first letter in there. from september, written a few hours after will left.

ignoring everyone’s questions and looks of confusion, mike starts to read it. his poured out heart and deepest emotions that once met paper with a ballpoint pen, being read out loud in a room for 15 people.

“....I don’t know what I’m gonna do with myself now that you’re going to be all the way in California. This will be the longest we’ve ever been apart, and I’m not sure if I can handle it. But I know you can, you’ve always been the strong one out of the two of us. Since I know you can do it, I’ll do it too. Maybe it’ll make me crazy, but if I go crazy, I’ll let you know. We’re going crazy together, even if you’re across the country. I miss you already.

when mike finishes, the room is eerily silent with everyone staring at him. mike opens his mouth to explain when will suddenly gasps super loudly and falls over into mike’s lap. mike scrambles to catch him and just stares at will, hope and love gleaming in his eyes. 

“crazy together, huh?” will croaks. his voice is shot like he’s been screaming nonstop for the past 40 years.

and mike just breaks, throwing his arms around will and bursting into tears. loud, ugly sobs pull themselves out of mike’s chest, staining the room with grief and pain. will wraps his arms around mike and cries with him.

no one knows what to do, but they leave mike and will to have their moment together, after all they all know that it’s always been them.

mike and will. will and mike. byers and wheeler.

s5 scene paralleling the new girl scene where nick is talking about how he’s the guy girls get with before they realize they deserve better. and mike is feeling upset about something again, feeling out of place now that they’re back and feeling like nobody needs him. and you think it’s going to head in the direction of the van scene where will looks at mike and talks him down in a soft voice but this time will has just totally had it and he grabs mike by the shoulders and just shouts. “you are important, mike, you’re important to me and you’re enough for me and i’m sick of you talking about yourself like you can’t see all of it!” and just like the van scene mike just stares at him in awe and shock and you can see his eyes tearing up and you think it’s going to end like the van scene too, something appreciative yet unspoken hanging in the air between them. except unlike the van scene, will is in the middle of a sentence and his hands are flailing emphatically and his voice is getting choked up with emotion because why can’t mike see how wonderful he is and does he really not know then mike leans over and grabs will’s hands from where they’re moving in midair and cuts him off mid sentence and kisses him.
