why is nobody talking about the show Burb Patrol?? like idk if it’s just me but I find it really funny and it’s a good show to watch casually. I’m not saying it’s top quality tv, but it’s entertaining and if you’re a fan of Matt Rife you’ll most likely enjoy it! Considering how much I see him online I’m surprised more people haven’t watched this show. It’s on Amazon Prime if anyone wants to check it out.

Day two of the Baldwin rotation. Benjamin stayed up most of the night teaching Marcus how to walk. I didn't mean to give him Simsomnia but that's sort of what happened. He spent his morning on his day off working on his logic skill on his balcony, looking out at the scenic Belladonna Cove.

Sofia is pet crazy these days. But Ace is already a lot of responsibility, so her parents compromised on a Womrat cage. Sofia has already taken to little Benton.

(Points to anyone who can guess the commonality of the names Ace and Benton!)

Sofia has also been talking a lot on the phone with Sally Riley. Though she hasn't yet had the opportunity to invite her over after school. But for some reason Sally's father stopped by completely unannounced.

I don't remember inviting him in. I don't know who let him in. I don't know how he got here. I just turned around and Timothy Riley was there. Maybe he was checking out the Baldwins to approve of who Sally was befriending. Maybe he's already a family friend.

But I think it's nice that Benjamin has another guy to hang out with. Maybe the Baldwins and Rileys will be close. It will be a long time before I play Timothy. He stayed all the night, and one almost wonders what Sally was doing all that time... I hope he called a nanny.

Also... anyone else find it weird how similar to John Burb he looks? Kind of spooky. Are they like secret twins or something?

ULTIMATE Belladonna Cove Male Premade Ratings!

Some of the people I follow are playing Belladonna Cove and it made realize how underrated that neighborhood is. Granted, I don’t have BC set up in my game just yet (I want to play the base neighborhoods first) and I never explored further than one day the first time I did two (?) years ago, but I’m deeply passionate about the premades thanks to the only fully developed Belladonna Cove Let’s Play available on YouTube and other people in here, so without further ado, here’s my ratings on all the male BC premades (excluding teens and children) based on looks and if I want to date them.

We start with beloved and respectable scientist Benjamin Baldwin who wants his children to follow in his footsteps. While his wife worries about keeping up appearances, he seems very chill. Decent husband and person, he is probably one of the few Good Men™. 8.5/10.    

Ah, another one of those “I want my child to be more responsible” parents! According to Jason Cleveland's gender preferences, he prefers men, so the poor guy is stuck in the closet. His marriage to Marissa, a wealthy woman, speaks volume about his ambitions in life. Finally a male gold-digger in the Sims 2, Dina, WHO? However, he is a vice squad and has his son in the military career, so his political views are iffy at best. Gay and in the police force? Smells like toxic masculinity and internalized homophobia! He only gets points for his amazing jawline. 4/10.

Have you ever looked at someone and thought “I’m calling my lawyer to prepare a restraining order”? No? Just me? Anyway, I’m not sure what Carlos Contender’s deal is, but I don’t want it. He is a Popularity Sim who is friends with every adult in the neighborhood and that is nothing more than a facade to distract from his romantic exploits. His bio literally says that there’s nothing like a new romance to make him feel “young” again and if that doesn’t scream scum, I don’t know what does.  It’s not surprising that the two most prominent women in his life who aren’t his family (Chastity and Jessica) are half his age; at this rate he will flirt with newly young adults and that is fucking disgusting! Legend says that he lives for a very long time, so this perversion will continue until someone puts him out of his misery! Luckily, Jessica is working hard to have access to his fortune and if she succeeds, the evil will be defeated! Bye, Carlos! -100000/10.

Oh, Armand DeBateau. What can be said about this man that hasn’t been said already? He broke off with his ex-wife when she wouldn’t give him an heir (hey, don’t look at me like that! He calls Tara his “heir,” his words, not mine!) and, sure, Jessica was a cheating gold-digger, but it’s 2019 (2008 when this expansion was released???), reproductive rights are a thing, buddy! He clearly studied the Landgraab guidebook of old fashion sexism because that mentality of marrying women for the sake of continuing a wealthy legacy is fucked up. His only redeeming quality that blood is not that important to him because he treats his adopted daughter Tara like a princess and perhaps underneath that douchey rich exterior is a great parent. Good thing he doesn’t have canonical children in the game because how you seen the spawn he creates with Jessica and Kimberly? His genes are so dominant and it clashes with unique features! 3/10.

I can’t bring myself to criticize him, he is truly one of the few Good Men™! Cheesy hair and clothes aside, once you give Gabriel Green something better, he is quite the looker. His bio says that he loves to learn and you didn’t hear that every day now, do you (I’m kidding, of course you have). but every once in a while he relaxes to dance with his childhood best friend Chastity. Good for him, you can trust this guy to be a great friend! Gabriel said women’s rights! It is said that if him and Samantha Cordial are alone in the same room, they fall in love instantly. That indicates that he is a hopeless romantic and that could be his downfall overtime. Chastity may love love, but Gabriel is married to love. 9/10.

Lamer than the cracks on concrete. Mary’s bio says that she sacrificed her own desires to accommodate Nathan Gavigan’s dreams, so shame on you, Nathan. Frankly, Mary deserves better and so do I. 2/10 

Herbert Goodie is a nice man who is happily married to his wife and is financially stable. If you want an older man without feeling like shit, he is your guy! 8/10

Quite the good-looking fellow, not going to lie, but Ramir Patel is a politician, so I immediately do not trust his judgment. He is clearly a family man of the cursed variety with that “I want my children to follow my career” mentality, but I can see him being supportive of his future child no matter what. Ana is a sweetheart and he better take care of her when I play him someday! However, his political ambition might get in the way. Have you seen how politicians act this days? Not bueno! Only time will tell if he is one of the good ones, he is quite the wild card. 6.5/10

Eh, Timothy Riley is a John Burb copycat, not much substance to him. He seems nice and a good enough parent, so he is alright, but boring. Him and Vivian don’t make a bad couple. 5/10

I don’t have strong feelings for Geoff Rutherford, but he seems like a fun guy! He may seem as sleazy as Carlos Contender, but he strikes me as the guy who respects women compared to him and that is admirable. However, that irresponsible personality might get old after a while, so he might need to grow up eventually. He is good for a nice night, so kudos to him! 7/10

And finally, Connor Weir. He strikes me as the guy who looks down on others for not being as responsible as he is (watch out, Geoff!) and that little part of his bio about working harder because he doesn’t have as much as advantages as Geoff sounds like he could be slightly jealous of Geoff. Has some shades of Nice Guy™ Syndrome so a little reality check might be in order if he truly wants to find The One™. 5/10

I'm using a 2 days = 1 year age mod to play this new Uberhood I'm panning (and actually already started to play when I need pause from the Somersets) and with a really difficult algorithm I have calculated each Sim's age with the default aging system and translated it into their age with the mod, all with the help of SimPE (I have quite a lot of free time currently xD). So to keep track of everyone's start age, here's my masterpost, it's simply for my own convenience. Burb Household: Week 1

The Burbs start off the week by getting to know the welcome wagon, consisting of Dina Caliente and Coral Oldie, through a nice water balloon fight.

Jennifer got invited downtown by Issac Bell, so the whole family went with her SimBowl Lanes.

It was quite a large group. In addition to the Burbs and Issac, this group consisted of Luis, Victor, and Elizabeth Aspir, and Hannah and Daniel Bell.

The latter-most of whom immediately went home, since it was past 7, much like Beau Broke.

So much for Lucy getting to hang out with someone her age.

Timothy Riley (who looks eerily similar to John, with that hair and those clothes), randomly decided to bowl with the group for a while.

John and Jennifer were starting to get hungry, so I figured it was time for dinner. Everyone gets burgers, because I can’t be bothered to pay attention to that many thought bubbles.

That many burgers is still quite a bit of money, though. The total bill was $119, and they only have $130, so they skipped out on the bill. Quite literally, in John’s case, who did not have the “Run Here” option.

Having successfully avoided the hostess’ wrath, it was time for the Burbs to say goodbye to the Bells and Aspirs.

They were all so exhausted, that Lucy and John didn’t manage to make it to their beds before passing out.

Jennifer spent the next morning working out.

Then decided to go out to play in the rain. I love the antics of playful Sims.

I remembered that Aspiration Rewards existed, so I got them a money tree. They really need it right now.

Jennifer heads off to her first day of work as a Team Mascot. Voh Gerbits!

Lucy rolled a want to Ask for Homework Help, so John did just that. I’ve never noticed before how much faster Sims do their homework after they’ve learned how to study.

That evening, Lucy received a phone call from her cousin, Lillith Pleasant.

Well, looks like it’s gonna be scorched hotdogs for dinner.

I love when children run to go hug their parents after work. Why wasn’t this carried over into later games?

Hey, Don! Haven’t seen you in a while.

Lucy came home from school the next day with an A+.

Then spent the afternoon hanging out with Lillith. Given that Lucy’s bio implies that she’s a bit of a troublemaker, I think these two would get along really well.

Holy shit, it’s Marsha Bruenig!! This kid is infamous for stalking Sims over the phone (only in Pleasantview). She apparently calls your Sims constantly, even at night or during school hours. This is the first time I’ve ever actually come across her.

According to her wiki page, her stalking glitch was fixed in a patch, but I wanna see if anything will happen.

I mean, I know it’s almost 7, but uh.....this is the opposite of stalking.

After only two days of work, Jennifer already earned herself a promotion.

John rolled a want to Ask a Sim Out On a Date, and Jennifer had the day off, so they’re spending the day together a Woodland Park. And I still cannot get over how gorgeous Woodland Park looks in the fall.

John wanted to Become Friends with Dina, so he invited her over to get to know her better, and she brought along Nina.

Meanwhile, Lucy brought Justin Kim home with her from school.

By the end of the day, not only were John and Dina friends, but Jennifer and Nina had struck up a friendship with each other as well.

The shower broke the next day. John had 0 Mechanical points, but I figured I’d let him at least try, on the off chance that we could avoid paying for a repair technician.

We ended up paying for a repair technician anyway.

While waiting for Waylon Fairchild to fix the shower, John studied a bit of anger management.

Lucy brought home Denene Schweber.

Which makes Denene the one outside attendee to Lucy’s birthday.

I like the hair, but the tracksuit’s gotta go, kid.

Which means spending the next 5 or so in-game hours trying on clothes. As cute as this outfit is, I ended up going with something else. And I was only willing to get Everyday clothes, since clothes are ridiculously expensive in this game. But since Jennifer rolled a want to Buy Jewelry, I decided to also get Lucy a ring. Thought it’d kinda be like Jennifer buying her daughter a birthday present.

I plan on having some households in the uberhood owning some of the clothing stores, and marking the prices down on some stores, while marking them up on others (or maybe do it per clothing rack instead of per store). I also plan to do this with grocery stores and other things that don’t require restocking. I feel like it would be much more realistic, plus I won’t have to choose between shelling out an arm and a leg to get new clothes, or staying in whatever they’ve aged up in, no matter how ridiculous (I’m looking at you, Danny Broke).

Jennifer narrowly avoided starvation that night by having some chips at like 2:30 in the morning.

John’s bio mentions that he loves gardening (and coincidentally, his preferred hobby is Nature), so I’ve set up a small garden for him. Some of it will probably be used for food, but most of it will be sold so they have a secondary source of income.

When Lucy invited Alexander Goth over to hang out, he asked if he could bring a friend. I figured he’d bring Lillith Pleasant, or Dirk Dreamer, or even a family member, but instead her brought Heidi Fuchs.

Aw, that’s really cute!

Despite initially having poor chemistry with each other, Alexander was really into Lucy’s flirtations. One romantic interaction, and they immediately developed a crush on each other.

Very soon, they shared their first kiss and officially started dating.

I found out that teens will sometimes run to the phone autonomously. I swear we will never finish discovering tiny details in this game. Luckily, Lucy was the one Angela was calling.

HEY, GET AWAY FROM THEIR MONEY TREE

While out buying a handheld game, Lucy came across Meadow Thayer and Tank Grunt.

Lucy really wasn’t into basketball, having given up after one throw. Makes sense, since she’s a lazy Sim. She did however enjoy playing pinball with Klara Vonderstein.

Jennifer wanted Lucy to get a college scholarship, and luckily her grades were high enough for her to qualify for one already.

Damn Fortune Sims. I spent around half their funds on this bookshelf, even though they already had a bookshelf, because Jennifer rold a want to Buy a Bookshelf Costing At Least $650.

Well, he didn’t have any wants to go on a date at the time, so I turned down the offer of a blind date, even though he’s a Secondary Romance Sim. In fact, John has hardly rolled any want related to either of his aspirations.

Lucy invited over both of her cousins and their dog.

That moment when you’re twinning with your cousin who happens to be a twin.

This is such a cute interaction!

For once, Angela was the instigator instead of Lillith.

“Sorry Alex, but I have to go. My cousins are fighting again.”

Lucy, you fucking hypocrite! You’ve done that too!

AUGH STOP TOUCHING THAT TREE

Jennifer came home from work with a promotion and Kari Do.

It’s almost like a family gathering.

I really love the hang out interaction.

At the end of the week, John’s garden is doing rather well. All three tomato plant are healthy, and none of them have gone dormant.

And I finally got around to buying a car, since Jennifer has been wanting one all week.

The logic is reasonable. In any advanced society, even the most monstrous criminal, whether a child-killer or a mass murderer, should have the right to a fair trial. No matter how bad the crime, the culprit should be afforded a legal defence and a voice within the legal framework. ‘Special interest groups’ use the same rational to legitimize the behaviour of transnational corporations. The reasoning continues that if, for example, a cancer-victim goes on television and explicitly blames a large-scale tobacco manufacturer for their predicament, then the cigarette company should likewise have the right to a public defence. On paper, at least, we have a level playing field where each party, whether guilty or not, gets a right to be heard.

Any fairness, however, finishes there. The entire scheme has a massive flaw. While a fairly large amount of murder cases and serious crimes do end up with criminal convictions, large-scale corporate crime does not.

Ten years after the greatest intentional and criminally-engineered market implosion and subsequent depression, we are hard pushed to find a culprit who served time. Nobody took the rap for the tens of thousands who were systematically fleeced, forced out of their homes and stripped of their employment. Neither in America, nor anywhere around the globe for that matter. Rolling Stone’s Matt Taibbi recently chronicled how an obscure Asian bank named Abacus Federal Savings Bank was scapegoated for being ‘small enough to jail’. The hapless bunch of small fish Chinese Americans bankers were, quite literally, marched off in a chain-gang, to become the only U.S. bank to be prosecuted for selling fraudulent mortgage loans.

But it is not only in Wall Street that corporate fraud and racketeering go almost totally unpunished. Transnational corporations, whose GDPs now allow them to occupy a greater part of the top 100 list of world economies (surpassing many nation states) are likewise above the law.

High-profile handcuffing has been out of fashion since Enron and is as 1980s as Gordon Gekko’s brick-like mobile phone and hair gel. Yet the whole industrial-military, security and intelligence sectors continue to rely on exponential numbers of chumps to make up the criminal numbers. The industry needs a constant stream of dupes to be arrested, processed and ultimately jailed. And if the hotbeds of corporate crime in Wall Street, or the white faces and white-collars of the nice middle class neighbourhoods of town won’t suffice, there’s always fresh fodder available in the immigrant, black and Latin quarters. The War on Drugs or Three Strikes, for instance, never made it to the ‘burbs.

The huge state funding received by the intelligence communities and security services (over 50% of taxes in the U.S.) can only be justified if someone ultimately gets busted, banged up or bombed (the foreign option). The streets need cops on the beat; courtrooms and private prison cells need bums on seats.

Wall Street can thank, among others, arch-villian Timothy Geithner, on whose insistence no wealthy banker ever occupied a witness box. And guess what? Geithner just happens to be the linchpin in the uber-lobby group Council for Foreign Relations. In a parallel period where white execs have evaded jail cells, hundreds (thousands?) of  clone-like corporate pressure groups have mushroomed across the world. A coincidence? The CFR masquerades as a non-partisan thinktank promoting liberty. Yep, we’ve heard that tedious old gem dozens of times before…  Closer scrutiny of the ‘thinktank’ reveals a vast team of lackeys promoting arms, the securities industries, surveillance, etc. A huge corporate PR machine designed to sway public opinion and guarantee that the billions in state funding never stop lining the pockets of the same group of bad actor billionaires

And it certainly doesn’t end with finance. There are similar large-scale corporate bullying tactics used by pharmaceutical industries, realtors, broadcasters, agro-chemical industries, and so on… The list is almost endless, the budgets are shocking, but the most worrying aspect is that, behind virtually all of it, is an increasingly more powerful and sinister right-wing base, intent on eradicating any opposition or contrarian voices. Now every talk show, public debate, round table or even independent podcasts appear to feature some thinly-veiled neoliberal apologist railing against supposed ‘touchy-feely’ equal rights activists, social justice promoters, lefties, feminists, etc.

The ‘right to self-defence’ is, in fact, a heavy artillery neocon assault. Don’t believe any PR pundit or special interest group who try to convince you that corporations have a legitimate right to a defence. Because there will be no trial. The corporations’ very own defenders have such weight that they guarantee that their bosses will never see the inside of a courtroom.
