We're back to the Sims 2, Aurora's Cove, and the Wilders!

A bajillion shots of the finished Community Arts Centre! Exterior pics are here. Really happy how this came out - a great lot for arts & crafts and music & dance hobby Sims! And cuisine hobby too, since there's a fun little food fair outside as well.

One building is devoted to the visual arts, with a public gallery on the bottom floor, and a sewing machine, pottery wheels (for adults and kids), easels and a children's corner upstairs.

The other building is for the musical arts. There's a performance area downstairs, a drum circle upstairs, and a "recording studio" as well for those who like their music a little more in your face.

Having the mod to access build/buy mode on community lots (while with a Sim there) was so key for this one. I was able to play test and check modifications to get things functional (like the drum circle) so I would know what changes worked when I actually went back to fix it in proper build mode. If you go into build/buy while you're with a Sim on a community lot, any changes are not permanent once they leave.

🌆 Chapter 5 : The Neighborhood Download 🏘️

It's a big post, please read carefully ...

🥂 It's FINALLY here, the long-awaited neighborhood download post ! You'll finally be able to explore this new map yourself, add your Sims, and play fantastic brand new...old stories. However, depending on the neighborhood you want to download, you'll need to make sure you've already downloaded and installed the necessary custom content from the lots you need ! To speed things up, the "chapter" posts offer direct access to the entire download folder for the area in question (e.g. "Chapter 1" proposes the lots from Neighborhood 1 etc.)

🌃 All the neighborhood have been cleaned with Hood Checker and completely empty of all their sims (in folder, and in the neighborhood file with SimPE). The Neighborhoods with lots have 🇫🇷 FRENCH and 🇬🇧 ENGLISH texts for every lot titles and descriptions from the original SIMS 1 descriptions.

The Empty one is... empty of lots, It's just my remade version off Kalisa's map. I had to change it to create MagicTown, changed the roads with SimPE and decorated the hood. The second option, is an edited neighborhood with only the MagicTown addition, all the OldTown and Downtown lots are Kalisa's CC free ones. It allows you to have less CC to install because you will need only the MagicTown related ones. That's why I had a flag system on my master meshes post . And finally, the entirely remade neighborhood has all my made and remade lot and need ALL the CC from the lots and the master-meshes post.

The wonders of object creation...question is, how do i get it down to the level I want it to be on... I guess it will ultimately have to be placed via one of these cubes, like the skybox objects. Also, I'm not looking forward to redo the UV maps.

1. Music while playing? Of course not then the iconic toilet clogging sound would get drowned out!! I do throw in splashes of Sims 1 piano music which is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard as a pianist myself

2. Conversions: i have a fling with Sims 3 I admit it. Its very complicated. Here’s how I explain it: To build my perfect Sims game, I need a good foundation. Sims 2 is the best foundation imo. Sturdier than the rest. Then I need all the structural stuff (again Sims 2) but I want luxury items as well, or rather, items that I don’t actually need but are really cool - Sims 3t2 traits come in. And I won’t get started on 3t2 traits but they have totally resurrected a long dead love for the Sims 2 for me personally that burns brighter than the sun when you go outside after waking up at 2 in the afternoon. I have my perfect escape. It is basically Sims 2 with the best features of 3 (imo) and I add quirks and the piano music of 1 (its life-changing). I occasionally add 4t2 furniture.

3. There’s a line that I don’t cross in their world. I dont really and truly know how to show you where that line is drawn but for me, I love making their world as real as possible without losing “Simmy” ness... If that makes sense. For example, when I write a chance card I may talk meta about the Resurrect-O-Nomitron or the Noodlesoother or penguins walking around in a suburb lol. However, I don’t like some Inventory mods because I think it’s cute that they pull a mop out of their butt. I add things like death chances, Sure ... Sickness, laundry, utilities ... It gives them more to do and gives me more creative freedom. And hey if they die MidgetheTree has playable ghosts! Imagine handling a family argument over a cheating session caught redhanded during a power outage lol essentially if its a mod that I feel like just doesn’t add to their world in some way and just doesn’t make sense like any kind of mod that completely disables a negative event … then I don’t get it. Dont like sex mods at all bc its just for aesthetics.

4. My experiences used to affect my gameplay. I would work through trauma by recreating my enemies and making fun of them. But I graduated to now, playing literally any Sim of any type in any situation and any aspiration or age and being able to feel fulfilled so … you can say I ascended to being the Creator I was meant to be! Now, when I’m joking with friends about the Sims and acting “in character” sometimes my experiences do filter in, and when I am “in character” on some of my posts, that’s all in good fun.

5. I wish I could find some way to make a living with SimPe modding! 😅😅��� Anyone got ideas? I am thinking of computer class at community college currently

if you have little or no cc or other visual changes to your game, are there particular reasons? e.g. disk space/performance, nostalgia/just prefer the vanilla vibe, etc.

if you use a lot of 4t2 and/or 3t2 cc are there any particular reasons? e.g. you play the other game and also want the same stuff in the sims 2, you don't have the other game but want the other game's stuff that you've seen, you prefer the aesthetic of the other game but prefer the gameplay of the sims 2, you feel like eaxis content from the other games is part of the same "set" as the sims 2, you just prefer clay hair, etc.

if you use the vibrant, colourful, and lower contrast? aesthetic that's often called "maxis match", does it actually "match" the sims 2 in your view/experience of the game or do you consider it "maxis match" in the sense of the whole sims series? alternatively, do you not consider it "maxis match" and just prefer the colour and brightness? if so are there any particular reasons? e.g. it reminds you of a game or other media that you like, it gives you a feeling/vibe that you like, etc.

if you use cc that isn't the "maxis match" style mentioned above, but that you consider "maxis match", are there any particular traits that qualify/disqualify "maxis match" cc for you?

if you use "realistic" or "alpha" cc, would you consider your "aim" to be to make the sims 2 game more like real life, or to make a version of real life in the sims 2? alternatively, do you just like the aesthetic, are you used to using "alpha" cc in other sims games, or is "alpha" cc something that is nostalgic for you?

🌠 Chapter 4 : The MagicTown Lots 🧹

🔮 "Recently, there's been talk of strange happenings at the edge of town. Word on the street is that merchants and carnivals have arrived, bringing with them a menagerie of strange, spooky, and even magical things. There is also a new cab company advertising family rides to Magic Town, maybe you should give them a call."

🏘️ The TS1 Neighborhood Conversion Project continues with the lots in the Sims 1 Makin'Magic MagicTown. These are recreations of the whimsy mystical lots we’ve been playing with for over 20 years now. Some have been replicated as closely as possible, while others have been modified to adapt The Sims 2 game-play, or lack of conversions. I know there are many of these recreations out there, and once again I don’t claim mine are the best.

🗂️ Each post presents the lot from several angles and includes an individual download link, for those of you who prefer to pick and chose for there own neighborhood. For some lots, the download of master-meshes is required, and often indicated in the batch post.
