he stands half-shrouded in the shadow of the doorway, wincing at each sour note. they're still as prominent as the first time, but there's something endearing about it now, how frank plays on despite the mistakes, almost as if it doesn't matter if he improves. it isn't until the notes soften to the song's end that he steps forward, hesitant, feet whisper-soft against the floor, bill stopping half a foot from the bench— the hesitation is deep-seated still, though, gradually, inches have been sheared from the distance.

“i have cassettes and records, you know,” he starts, breaking the silence. “instead of you butcherin' linda every day.” it's gruff, of course, but warm, too, an edge of amusement cutting into his tone, because it's not really that bad— and he seems so happy.

bill hesitates, then takes the final step forward, sitting beside frank, squinting as he glances at the music sheet, studying the notes (to avoid looking at frank.)

I looked at the website and yes, there *is* no mention of any voting on KOSA happening before or past March 13th, March 13th is where the schedule ends. I'm still not sure, so keep digging for more info.

Update #4 - 3/2/2024

So, today I was on Reddit reading about KOSA, and I found this on r/AO3

Here's the Invest in Child Safety Act, it only has five cosponsors compared to KOSA's sixty-three.. wonder why..

Anyways, I was wondering, could steering reps away from KOSA while leading them towards other and SAFER bills help? :P

If these bills really ARE safer, wouldn't it give us a better chance of KOSA not being passed if we gave our Senators and Reps examples of alternative bills they could support?

Like, instead of just saying "DON'T DO THIS!!!" We could say "DON'T DO THIS, but THIS is a better alternative that will keep everyone safe AND actually be helpful."

I have a feeling most of the Democrats supporting this bill have fallen for the "We're protecting the children!!" farse. So, let's not just tell them the problem, but offer a solution! An alternative that will ACTUALLY protect children.

I posted this as it's own thing, but I wanted to add it to this update thread so people are more likely to see it.

i was just as moved by ellen and thomas as the next guy but it drives me crazy seeing the number of people who are vehemently against the idea that she could also be into orlok as well when the cast and the director have all shared that there’s mutual yearning between them

i honestly think that if they made him pretty and kept bill’s face there wouldn’t even be as much discourse because almost every vampire ever has been portrayed as predatory and monstrous. you just hate the idea that we can like ellen/orlok because he looks “ugly” lol

robert even says himself that she has a husband who loves her and she loves him, but he doesn’t *get* her and that the only two people who do would be von franz and orlok. i did read her as a victim as well but i also see it this way:

abuse can absolutely coexist within their relationship but don’t try to deny that there was romantic or sexual tension there or call us deranged when we do see it. it’s complicated the way vampire and human relations have always been depicted.

like the salvatore brothers and edward cullen were crazy as hell too but nobody ever goes as far as victimizing their love interests this hard or claiming that they “didn’t really want them”

Small Spoilers For The Book of Bill:

I still can't get over that after all that shit that Bill did to Ford that the thing that truly affected Ford, that what truly horrified him was Bill picking up the phone and trying to call Stan to tell him that Ford never loved him.

Like even after everything and even after Ford was still so angry at Stan the thought of the last words Stan ever hearing from him was that he didn't love him (not just that he didn't love him but that he had never loved him) about made Ford completely lose it until he heard that the payphone was no longer in service.

No one can tell me that if he hadn't heard that dial tone Ford wouldn't have gone off the deep end right then and there.
