I feel like the "dan is bi" anon is trolling but just in case they're genuinely confused: yes dan said in BIG that he loved and felt attracted to his high school gf (although he also made it pretty clear that they did not have sex so idk where anon is getting the idea that he has slept with "multiple women" 💀), and he alluded to his attraction not being confined to a specific gender in the part where he talked about labels, but you're completely taking all of that wildly out of context and missing the point of the whole video by calling him bi. I feel like this is probably the part that's frying their brain:

But firstly, imo it was very clear from BIG, as well as other stuff he's said over the years, that he just doesn't like labels. Which I find very valid, it took me a long time to figure out how to label myself. I still don't know what my gender is lmao but I started saying "bi" for my sexuality because it's a widely-used term that gets the point across. And I think that's the thing here: he came to the conclusion that the labels "gay" and "queer" are the best descriptors of his identity, which do the most accurate job of approximating something extremely psychologically complex and multilayered and nuanced in a simple everyday term that gets the point across to other people.

Obviously words mean things and it doesn't make sense to just pick a label at random (like for example it wouldn't make sense for me to identify as a lesbian, since I definitely feel attraction to men as well as women and everything outside the binary, and am interested in acting on that attraction at times, so I wouldn't be conveying accurate information to other people if I used the label lesbian for myself) but a label is just supposed to serve the task of conveying relevant information to other people (if a lesbian feels some kind of abstract attraction to dan and phil, that doesn't mean that the alphabet council needs to immediately revoke their lesbian card!! Since the word "lesbian" still does a perfectly good job of conveying relevant information to other people. Likewise if a straight dude has a fun little gay dalliance with his college roommate, but has absolutely 0 interest in men beyond that incident, it wouldn't be remotely necessary for him to start calling himself bi if he didn't want to, because what would be the point in that if he's only interested in women? Like if he told a gay dude who found him attractive that he's bi, only to backtrack... Do you see what I'm saying here?). It's perfectly valid for Dan to use "gay" and "queer" as umbrella terms that in his opinion do the best job of describing him, out of the language that's available. If he's like essentially a kinsey >5 and decided to just round it off to a 6 at this point, who are you to tell him he can't lmao

Human sexuality is often way too complicated to boil it down to a single label in a way that doesn't erase any of its nuance, and I feel like this is something he's struggled with in the past, especially with him being a public figure. He's mentioned multiple times that feeling like he had to choose a label was a factor that prolonged his decision to come out.

And this is not even getting into the impact that his trauma from his childhood and also from spending a chunk of his formative years in the public eye probably had on the way he identifies or the way he chooses to label himself. It clearly took so much courage and strength for him to finally be able to call himself gay/queer please have some respect for our brave troops

Ultimately the point is that he uses the labels "gay" and "queer", not "bi", and it really shouldn't be difficult to respect that. It's also not biphobic for him to choose not use the label "bi" (again speaking as someone who uses that label). It's just that he feels "gay"/"queer" are better descriptors for him and nobody gets to determine that except him!! :) He wants people to know he's gay so he calls himself gay and that's that on that.

There are definitely people on here who are way smarter and more well-educated than me who would've done a much better job eloquently discussing this topic without rambling all over the place but that's my take (if anyone would like to add to this please do so, I'm always open to learn more about topics like this. i have so many thoughts on alexander rossi and his new (over the past two years) popularity and the importance of a good social media strategy (and why indycar/indycar teams need to improve).

first off, rossi has always been a popular driver. that is a fact. however, i feel like he has had a lot of growth in popularity, mostly among 20-30 year old women in the past few years. i also think that he’s a really good case study for what a driver/team/indycar as a whole should do. because rossi has not significantly improved as a driver in the past two years, nor has his personality changed significantly. i think that a lot of the popularity is due to how social media coverage of him has changed.

so, i think that there are a couple of reasons rossi has seen so much growth in his audience. one part of it is the podcast with hinch. hinch is a incredibly personable guy, he could probably have a good conversation with a brick. add on to that the fact that he and rossi are genuinely best friends, and the podcast is obviously going to go well. rossi is able to show his personality on the podcast. and he has a kind of weird personality. so it makes sense that people are drawn to that personality, and have a fondness for off track, and specifically rossi. that is the first part of it.

the second reason is the arrow mclaren social media team. the arrow mclaren social media team is really fucking good. they know how to showcase their drivers personalities in short, consumable videos/reels/tiktoks. and because of this, people were able to really get introduced to rossi’s personality.

They also got introduced to Rossi in a very specific way. They got introduced to Rossi through his friendship with Pato, and the various tiktok trends that were created to make him look good. And I’m not saying that it’s fake, but it’s also i think a very different lens than how people were introduced to him in the past.

correct me if i’m wrong, but i kind of feel like there’s a certain pipeline for rossi fans (not all, obviously, and there’s some variance in the pipeline too): f1 fan —> indycar fan (often specifically a fan of arrow mclaren, as they have definitely set up their social media presence to be easy for beginner indycar fans to understand/learn about drivers personalities, along with transference in motorsport- if you’re a fan of mclaren in f1, obviously you’ll be a fan of mclaren in indycar) —> think ‘oh this guy is cool’ and check out his instagram (his and brian simpson’s ‘runoff’ series is helpful here too) —> listen to the podcast, maybe start listening to older episodes —> become a big rossi fan —> post about him —> more people become curious and maybe listen to the podcast/check out his social media/become fans

the arrow mclaren social media has been, in my opinion, really instrumental to the uptick in popularity rossi has had. obviously it’s not the only part of it, but i do feel like it’s regularly the first domino in the rossi fan pipeline.

now we have to talk about what this means for other teams/indycar as a whole. i feel like rossi’s arrow mclaren popularity shows how important social media/personality driven content is right now. it also shows how much andretti dropped the ball in terms of potential with rossi (that being said, over the course of the year andretti social media has improved significantly, becoming the 2nd best indycar team social media this season in my opinion). indycar social media has become much better in the last couple of years. however, i think that indycar needs to continue improving their social media strategy, showcasing the racing product of indycar along with the drivers personalities - personality driven content has become more important than ever, and with the variety of personalities/weirdness in the indycar paddock it shouldn’t be too hard. it’s just about making sure that indycar actually does it.

dad!armin totally panics when your first born is still a small baby, he’s worried he’s doing everything wrong or that the kid hates him because he can’t console their crying

dad!armin’s favourite part of the day is those extra 15 minutes you spend just the two of you before getting ready in the mornings. they don’t always have to be sexual okay sometimes they are though it’s just that you get to cuddle or make out before starting your day, sometimes you play music or watch a silly video together, but the whole point of those 15 minutes is that it’s just the two of you

dad!armin brushes his teeth right next to you while making faces to you in the mirror, but the kids quickly catch up to this habit and demand that he joins them when they brush their teeth as well they’re having so much fun i swear

dad!armin picks up the kids from school, then picks you up from work and treats you to milkshakes and burgers on friday afternoons

saturday mornings with dad!armin at the park are seriously the best days ever, especially when you make invisible snow angels (the kids were obsessed with snow angels during winter, so now you do it throughout the year)

dad!armin’s guilty pleasure is when “mummy and daddy have to work this weekend, so you’re staying with aunt mikasa and uncle eren” in order to spend the entire weekend alone with you

dad!armin insists on cutting your kids’ fruit and veggies in all kinds of shapes if this means they’ll eat them, then sprawls himself on the couch with a bowl full of various scraps and pats the place between his legs for you to sit in. you make yourself comfortable before he hands you a piece of orange saying “this is the best piece of the lot, saved it for you”

“you know we can just cut some more fruit and veggies, right?”

dad!armin is always there for you when you’re frustrated with the load of it all. he’ll gently touch your shoulders and kiss your neck, in an attempt to calm you down. “hush baby, you’re doing an amazing job! i’d never make it through without you”

but dad!armin also faces some bad days too, especially when he’s too exhausted from work and has to miss a doctor’s appointment or a school show. he totally blames himself for not making it in time and for having you take care of everything, even though he was supposed to help. in those times, you have to remind him that you’re here for each other and that “when one of us needs help, the other one steps in, it’s okay to be upset, but we’re a team, right?” let’s not forget dad!armin is a massive goodnight kisses fan! nobody escapes and nobody wants to either! after you’ve put the kids to bed, you and armin read to them until they’re drowsy, then he places a kiss on their foreheads you get loads of forehead kisses as well but this is probably for another prompt!

arguably the best moment was when san was picking his svent perfume for his candle and he said “this one smells like you” and then used that scent

yunho quickly jumped in to make it casual and said he would also choose one that smelled like the amazing host

and then san started sulking

and then at some point in the background of the video you could hear san say “biyah”

it’s honestly a bit surprising that nabi did a good job at pretending that her and san were nothing more than close friends

she even controlled her facial expressions for the first time in her life

I wish there was like. Tutorials on how to use different social medias that isn’t just “here’s how to set up an account.”

I got a Bluesky but there doesn’t seem to be hashtags, I have no idea how to actually get people to see my art if they aren’t already following me. There’s like lists but nothing on how to post to them? I feel too old for this shit which doesn’t bode well for the majority of my lifespan.

I fully believe that Eddie and Chrissy would be like those couples you see on tiktok where the guy gets down on one knee to propose and the girl starts laughing/crying before getting down on her knee & pulling out a little box because she was also going to propose

And then they’re both just a mess of giggles, tears, & kisses as they propose to each other

So I may have been slightly obsessing over “To sir with love”, as one does, and a thing that has been circling in my head for the last few days is the way Tian's confrontation with his mother at the start of episode 13 and his talk with Yang at the end of the same episode echo and oppose each other.

Madame Li comes to Tian when he is in love, hopeful, begging for a chance at happiness, and how does she respond? She crushes it, with the revelation about Jiu and Mr. Ma yes, but mostly with everything else. You will never know love, she says, except mine. That stifling love who wants him to be someone else, that chips at who he is again and again and again.

Then Yang finds his brother (heart)broken, and Tian holds him back to confess his love, again, now in despair and shame and self loathing. And Yang response to that is as it has always been, that his brother is wonderful just as he is. You deserve love he promises, and I love you I love you I love you. A love with no reservation and for all that Tian is, a love always there.

And they both love Tian, they are both afraid and worried for him, both are going to great lengths to protect him, at this point both believe that Jiu has lied to Tian and played him. And. Yet. His mother again puts the blame on him, on who he is, makes him guilty of his own betrayal. His brother reminds him that it's not true, that the betrayer is to blame, and that the fault never laid with him.

And so it's no surprise that Tian pushes away his mother and the prison her love has built around him, but seeks the comfort of his brother's love who has always celebrated who he is.
