the sandra lynn / fig conversation is driving me Insane. fig saying that sometimes she doesn’t wanna exist as herself at all…not wanting to ask her friends how they see her (because she’s afraid to hear their response) saying that to someone she is a monster and she Cannot stop thinking about it. sandra lynn starting the conversation saying she needs to step up but is also simultaneously taken aback about what fig expresses and doesn’t know how to responds to it and suggests getting ice cream. sandra lynn saying “convincing people they deserve good things is really tough” talking about herself but how it also reflects fig. insane!!

Here's my piece for the Counter-Pale Resistance zine! The song used is "Von" from the anime "Terror in Resonance" though the original song is sadly not on youtube. The covers of the song on youtube are still very good if you'd like to listen to them.

Also, beautiful people of the Top Form fandom, if you have time, please watch this SmartBoom interview for Feed (it has decent English subtitles). It provides great insight on how Smart, Boom and the crew approached the adaptation, and how closely they related to their characters in an already meta story.

Side note: that part about Boom's family's disapproval of his acting career really touched a nerve. Boom has mentioned in a previous live that most of his family, including his parents, live far away, and he's currently living alone. Boom said during this interview that both his uncle and his dad wanted him to pursue Engineering like his brothers before him, despite his initial desire to become a chef and work at their family restaurant. When he got casted out of the blue, during one of his first projects, his family expressed such strong dislike for his career that he wanted to quit altogether, until a fan wrote him a note that told him he was an undiscovered star and that he had to keep going. Now he hasn't even told his family that he's continuing his acting career, because he knows they will disapprove of him doing anything other than what they told him to do (and then he started actually tearing up which made me tear up, gosh darn it Boom. Also condolences about his friend).

Things I make for myself when insomnia kicks in

Just a chart about what I wanna change up and keep consistent in my art - I mainly wanna draw Raph with a tail because he deserves one, it fits too well. Donnie gets a long tail too because I didn’t realize how dino-like he looks until I gave him one, and now it’s a must for me haha.

it fascinates me how often a choice of first or - gasp - second person storytelling can create so much derision and discourse. having preferences is fine obviously, and as a writing choice it Does matter, because all writing choices matter. i don't really... notice?? anymore??? or like, i DO notice, but more in a "what information will the narrative give me access to" kind of way.

i know second person especially can be jarring if you're not used to it, because it's "he would not fucking say that" but for yourself. but it's also like... so many song lyrics have "you" and "i" and to me they're just. a story that exists separate from me. (to the degree lyrics exist to me at all as something other than Sounds that are part of a music piece, but that's the audio processing disorder/'did not grow up with english as a first language and never bothered to decode lyrics' of it all speaking)

i suspect a lot of derision towards first person narratives comes from a derision towards the genres in which it is a staple, rather than that it's somehow uniquely bad. there's really not much difference between a first person perspective and limited third person perspective??
