types of jewlery i think the bluelock men would wear once they go pro
isagi: usually doesn't wear jewlery. owns a thin silver chain and two diamond studs - but usually wears one. makes him look very boyish. not very into watches but wears one that's gifted to him.
rin: even less into jewlery but does like watches. for whatever reason i think he wears a cartier wrist watch - the kind that's all silver. that or vacheron. not much into anything else.
bachira: single gold tooth when he knocks his out. similar to shidou in wearing fun jewlery usually. more about aesthetics then showing off his wealth but some of his earrings are niche and designers. finds watches stuffy. lots of piercings.
chigiri: almost exclusively owns cartier jewlery. bracelets, necklaces, wrist watch - all cartier. looks gold in silver and gold so he has equal of each i think. has a brand collab with van cleef so has a lot of van cleef bracelets but it's not his personal style.
reo: rolex watches and a loooot of them. he's not really into anything else but his watch collection is nuts.
sae: patek watch + a few gold chains all in the same style. not much into rings. chains are more for style and he doesn't often wear them. prefers collar links for his suits to cufflinks.
oliver: john hardy + david yurman makes up most of his collection and unfortunately it all looks so sexy on him. prefers bracelets and rings but own a few gold cuban link chains with no ice.
kaiser: likes thin understated jewlery. platinum chains usually. he has like one chain with a lot of ice and it's a custom piece for his rose and thorns motif. wears a brietliling watch i think or some other swiss company. owns diamond studs and cufflinks.
karasu: likes wrist watches but doesn't favor any brand over another. see him wearing chophard watches maybe ? plain silver chain and two bracelets.
otoya: he's typical and i do think most of his stuff is gucci lmfao. so gucci watch + earrings. same thing with louis v. he's one of Those types. not companies known for jewelry necessarily but def brand name. the classiest thing he owns are diamond earrings.
barou: thick cuban link plain 24k gold + custom championship style ring also with ice. think he gets the ring from a very famous jewler (the thought of barou meeting johnny dang is funny to me. sorry). owns gold cufflinks and a gold watch. no silver in his collection.
kunigami: almost exclusively gold chains and almost nothing else. not into watches lol
#aristotle.txt#a.bllk#rin would look so sexy with other jewlery but he really only wears watches that compliment his closet#very greyscale lmfao

I think it’s really a somewhat unfortunate thing for people to be so weird and racist about louis exploring his sexuality and kink as a black gay man in paris (and jacob talks sooo extensively about james baldwin’s influence on his character this season) after escaping his abusive white father-maker-lover (one of the first things he tells people in paris is that he’s still trying to discover himself). why wouldn’t he want to step out of the role of the subservient suffering wife that lestat forced him to play and enjoy pushing against the constraints forced on him by the maker-fledging + white master-black lover dynamics without those specific power dynamics overshadowing his romantic relationships. there’s a lot of conversation about armand’s trauma informing his sexual preferences but you have to understand that this happened with louis too to a certain degree even if I personally feel it just comes down to his personal preference at the end of the day. the show is explicit about one thing - armand did feel safe sharing his history and ceding control to louis under consensual circumstances which are probably not things he’s ever done even when he had sexual relationships with other members of the parisian coven. a relationship with louis gave him the freedom he needed to extricate himself from the confining circumstances of coven life and the job he didn’t particularly enjoy.
the relationship having undercurrents of complex issues that inform their dynamic and lay bare their vulnerabilities and flaws isn’t something to comment upon uniquely just because they have an established dom/sub dynamic. there are a lot of angles informing the dynamic they settle into besides just their trauma because the show is specifically trying to make a lot of other commentary. armand seeking a master and lover and god in louis in vain because of his history with marius (and probably informed by the part he played in claudia’s death) is just as significant as him constantly micromanaging louis who’s treated like the metaphorical mad woman in the attic with mental illnesses who’s confined for her own safety. louis’ own worship of lestat’s masculinity, his desire to ascend the capitalist hierarchy, and his familial roles often acting as an extension of the patriarchal ones you see him engage in with his mother and sister and claudia are just as useful tools to examine the subtext in their relationship besides just. trauma lol.
at the end of the day it’s literally fine for louis to enjoy being a dom in their relationship. I think I hate the concept of louis being a suffering dom enduring the dynamic for armand even more because it seeks to apply moral judgement to anybody who takes on a more dominant role during, what is after all, just sex. a lot of people didn’t really absorb louis really enjoying cultivating a dom/sub relationship with 70s daniel, I guess.
#text#interview with the vampire#making this unrebloggable mostly because I don’t think this post is super articulate lol. it doesn’t really get into armand’s abuse of louis#and the unintended harm louis causes by getting into an undernegotiated kink dynamic with armand.

One Piece 1132 talk, my heart is full (and I'm freaking out again)

Can I just take a moment to comment on how this reminds me of, firstly, the first episode of Vicky the Viking, and simultaneously also, Luffy in Fuschia with Shanks?

It almost feels like an homage, it's super cute.
But BOY was this chapter so damn whimsical and exciting. It feels like a long time since the Strawhats have entered an island where there's no enemy (aware to them) that they're about to defeat; They're planning for a feast and it's a good time, it feels like a breather from all the chaos happening to the rest of the world lol
This spread is crazy btw

Elbaf feels like the fantasy land for me. A rainbow bridge where you can ride on (which, you can ride on rainbows this entire time and only the giants knew?? wild), island clouds in between levels, a whole village built on a tree with medieval architecture, waterfalls flowing down into the Underworld, just the sheer scale of it; It's SO good. I'm always in awe whenever they just pan over to an island's first look, and it was the whole island first with Yggdrasil and now this??? If you count Legoland then we have like 3 showings of Elbaf so far, and they just don't miss, they're so stunning.
Also this

This can make a grown man cry.
Usopp and Luffy, as they look on Elbaf, are thinking of the same thing. They both remember making this declaration, of someday going to Elbaf, a dream made by two boys just fresh out of East Blue and only on their second island in the Grand Line. And they made it. Usopp's dream is realized in this moment, and it's heartwarming that Luffy understands how important this was to Usopp as well.
(In a way, we as readers made it too. and yeah I cried a little lmao what of it)
And as if that's not enough, the narration starts, and halfway in the last page, as the narrator says "my account" that made me wonder "?? Is this someone actually talking?", in the last panel, with a ドン!!as it introduces a familiar name:

LOUIS ARNOT. LOUIS ARNOT, THE GUY WHO WROTE THE BOOK ABOUT LITTLE GARDEN, THE BOOK THAT NAMI OWNED THAT WAS ON THE MERRY BEFORE???? HUH????
I fully freaked out LMFAO because I've always been fascinated with the fact that explorers exist in the world of One Piece and they just have books annotating their experiences of the islands they go to and Louis Arnot is the only explorer we know of ever that's published a book about his expeditions, and the name drop just caught me off guard it's RIDICULOUS
The way we got introduced with Louis Arnot in Little Garden was with Nami remembering that she had read a book mentioning the island's name, and it was natural that we then got an excerpt from the book in the style of the usual One Piece narration, but here, this was so sudden (no segue, just appeared on a spread) that it makes the last panel with the all black background mentioning 'Louis Arnot' stand out.
I'm not saying that he's gonna appear as a character but hmMMMaybe??? (not likely lol) It's either that or I'm spouting nonsense and this is just a call back to when we first heard of Louis Arnot in Little Garden (which was on the last panel as well!). I still really like the idea of this faceless storyteller warning people of the islands he'd visited.
It also got me curious about Elbaf as an island?? What do you mean "Do not overstay your welcome"??? "Lost time"??? Do people lose track of time on Elbaf, and that's why giants experience time differently??? (👀 I like this theory I'm locking it in)
All in all, I feel like a kid again with this chapter, it truly feels nostalgic in the most magical way TvT
(edit: cause I totally missed this silhouette the first time ive read it, and he has been appearing (assuming this is the same person who was drinking sake when the Strawhats were approaching Elbaf just a few chapters back), but I believe this is. probably Shiki?? the kasa hat is totally hiding his dumb wheel chicken head???? maybe???
Like I know that's the common theory on this guy but the thing that makes me hesitate is idk what Shiki can bring story-wise, unless he's been disillusioned from being in Elbaf due to this thing Louis Arnot mentioned, or maybe there's just more to unpack from him than what we already know 🤔 curious)
#me going bonkers over a namedrop??? more likely than you'd think#also Usopp and Luffy's friendship is everything I love them so much#chapter review#opspoilers#elbaf spoilers#one piece ch. 1132#one piece 1132#one piece#one piece spoilers#monkey d. luffy#usopp one piece

Some General Ericson's Kids Headcannons
Louis
Despite it being the zombie apocalypse, he still takes a great care in his appearance. Maybe this could be tied back to his insecurities, but he generally just finds comfort in looking nice. He kept a few colognes from before, and maybe even still has a few hair products. Of course he’d had to be resourceful to make them last this long, probably pours water into the almost empty cologne bottles to make them last longer. He also just dislikes being dirty in general, always wiping down his clothes and typically taking breaks to freshen up.
He wants to keep the artistic spirit alive, even in the apocalypse, and he really admires people who feel the same. Everyone knows he loves piano, but when somebody actually shows interest in it he can't help but get giddy. He can ramble about musicians and songs for hours and hours and hours, and if you ever found him some new records or sheet music you'd officially be his new favorite person; ever.
Definitely was an only child; his parents put all of their focus on him, watched his every move. He was expected to get good grades, go to a good college, get a hard well-paying job afterwards. He was definitely spoiled money-wise, but his family lacked in the love and affection department.
Violet
I’d like to think that if she ever got the chance to, she’d try to give herself a piercing. Obviously it’d be unsanitary and sort of implausible during the apocalypse, but if you think about it, all she’d need would be a needle, the piercing itself, and some sort of disinfectant, so it could possibly happen. If she did get one, probably an eyebrow piercing or a septum. She definitely isn’t the type to care too much about her appearance, but she would feel super cool having a piercing. (She wouldn’t say it though, lol)
Violet lacked any sort of hobby in the game, and this upset me. (Ruby has gardening/being a nurse, Louis has music, Tenn has art, Mitch has weapons, Omar has cooking, Aasim has writing, etc.) I feel like if she had a hobby it'd be something she'd do in secret, maybe poetry or writing songs. She definitely is the type of person to bottle her emotions up, so writing poems about it would definitely be a nice way to cope with them. She’d never share her poetry with anyone though, it's just her thing; she's way too embarrassed of it.
If she was able to listen to any music she would definitely like indie or punk music. (Pavement, she would LOVE pavement) She’s definitely the type of person to crush on more alternative people, so I could see her trying to get into goth music just to impress a girl she likes.

Marlon
It's obvious that he's definitely got some hefty mental issues going on, he's the type of person to bottle things up forever till he just blows up. He panics a lot in tough situations, scrambles to fix things himself, but has a hard time making things work out alone. I'd imagine his parents were probably perfectionists of some sort; who pushed a lifestyle he didn't want onto him and he tried hard to succeed for them but could never be enough. Eventually one day he acted out, sick of being forced to live a life he didn't want to live, and then was sent to Ericsons's.
A lot of people hate Marlon, for reasons that are obvious, but I really don't think he was a bad guy. He was simply misguided, and made mistakes.
Seems like the type to smoke or drink as a way to cope. Did it more often before the apocalypse and when it first started but cigarettes and alcohol are pretty much nonexistent near Ericson’s now so he was forced to quit.
Mitch
I see many people sort of stereotype Mitch as just this guy who likes carving knives and making bombs, which definitely is true, but I think there’s much more to him. He has a very rebellious personality which leads me to believe he probably grew up in a home where being rebellious was necessary to get any attention from his neglectful parents. They are in the boarding school for a reason, so he probably was the type of kid that almost burnt down his house or something.
Definitely seems like the type to be a big softie once you get to know him. Certainly not the type to be all soft in public, but if you're spending time one on one his more gentle side will show.

Ruby
She has such a motherly vibe to her, so caring and sweet. Even hands out some tough love when needed. I think that's one of the reasons why she likes the greenhouse so much, she loves to take care of things; plants included. (Obviously she also liked it because of Ms. Martin, but yk)
She's certainly not the type to accept compliments easily, she just can't imagine that when people compliment her they're telling the truth. I'd imagine that the reason she punches Aasim If you dare him to kiss her is because she thinks he's playing a prank on her or something; she just finds it hard to believe that somebody would like her. (I love her, Ruby is my bae omg)

I wanted to know your thoughts on this but do you think it's fair to say either Louis or Armand are abusive in their relationship? Idek if this is a valid angle to view the characters from because I guess they're all monsters or whatever but a part of me thinks that it's kinda lukewarm to refuse to engage with the complicated themes of the show, which abuse is featured heavily and pretty clearly imo. This isn't aimed at you btw. Something I noticed is people tend to use some of Louis's less favorable moments to justify the violence he experiences. Like that post about Armand just matching Louis energy in ep 5, most of the notes are taking the stance that Louis is a cold, unempathic pimp who doesn't care about sa victims, that Armand genuinely is completely right when he says he is always cleaning up after Louis that he was only worried and tenderhearted and Louis escalated in the worst way and that after Louis said that he deserved everything that happened after. And I may be biased but to me that is so fucking crazy. To me it seems like fans, specially nonblack fans, have zero empathy for black abuse victims, actively enacting abuse culture even. But idk if that is a too reactive view. I don't want to say Louis isn't flawed because he is. But I mean we are watching the season about Armand getting Claudia killed on purpose and somehow people are still like Maybe Armand didn't do it, maybe it was all Louis, maybe Louis really asked for it. All of it. I think there's a problem there but idk I kinda feel a little crazy too. Btw disclaimer I fuckin hate Lestat this is not about comparing Loumand/Loustat lol
hi! and wow there is so much to discuss here...
I think it is fair to describe the actions of both Louis and Armand towards each other as abusive by definition but it's always important to remember that it is Armand in the position of greater power over him. Armand is older, stronger, owns dominion. He can walk in the sun, manipulate memories, and live without constant debilitating hunger for blood - all of which are things that impede Louis from being his own person outside of Armand.
Louis also faced this same predicament when he was with Lestat, but unlike Armand who uses his own innate powers against Louis, Lestat mostly used his social advantages of whiteness, wealth etc in addition to withholding key knowledge about vampirism to keep himself in control and Louis dependent on him.
and sure Louis can lash out all he wants! He can mock Armand's sexual trauma (trauma which Armand himself already gets them both to fetishise... but that's a whole different conversation...) he can hit back when Lestat hits him but when he's with either of those guys he is always going to be the victim. Nothing shitty he does to his partners, or to Claudia, or to Daniel, justifies what is being done to him by these men.
There absolutely has to be anti-blackness involved in any argument that says Louis deserves any of this. (Of course Armand as a brown South Asian man is not immune from fandom racism but his treatment is racialised in a different way that is also a different conversation). Any negative behaviour from a Black man is going to be seen by racists as exponentially more aggressive than it is, especially the cross-section with those you mentioned who aren't engaging with the complicated themes of this show exploring abuse.
They can see that Louis yelling at Armand is bad, but don't notice that Armand is being manipulative. They can see that Louis stabbing Lestat that one time during sex is bad (and still sexualise it), but don't notice that Louis is disassociating in every sex scene he has with Lestat afterwards (because they're too busy sexualising it). They can see that Louis making Daniel upset is bad, but don't notice that Daniel has been leveling dozens of racist and homophobic micro-aggressions at him since episode 1.
Armand got a few minutes to tell his tragic backstory in Louvre, Lestat had 2 or 3 different scenes in season 1 to recall his own. It's just been words. Meanwhile racists erase Louis' experiences with trauma because they never had enough fucking empathy for him to begin with to even register it happening to him! on screen! in real time! right in front of us!
And yeah Louis and Armand and Loumand are incredibly complex and compelling, and I do enjoy seeing Louis' moments of cruelty towards Armand! But he's never going to win against him in the game Armand built for him.
And in terms of Claudia, I do think that Louis failed her, as he has always failed her. And is responsible for her death in that regard. But that failure involved letting those other two fucking sharks eat her!!! I personally haven't seen anyone pushing the blame completely off Armand and onto Louis but I wouldn't be surprised. This week I've more pissed off about people levelling it all on Armand and think of Lestat as an unwilling participant.... this is of course the blonde white vampire show....
anyways sorry this is so long! thanks for the message this was really interesting to think about.

I’m an OG fan. I ship L/H but how ships are meant to be - your fave pairing, fun, fantasy, fandom activity, not something to discuss publicly much less with the celebs - but I never interacted much in fandom bc I disliked the bizarre obsession with ships being “real”. The “truth” of their sex/love lives is none of our business & was never their value to me. (i’d be much more interested in the truth about their friendships/coworker dynamics but we’ll never get it.) I drifted from the fandom when they went solo bc I saw how Harry was “Timberlake’ing”. No one seemed to see how calculated & ruthlessly ambitious he is, vapid, & fame obsessed. how he only befriends/dates rich, well-connected people. It’s refreshing to learn that blogs like yours exist - that people see him & see what he did to the other guys. Zayn, Louis, Liam - were all at times villainized and scapegoated while he’s treated like a naive princess who can do no wrong. His interviews are so pointless bc he never answers anything honestly. he’d never admit to being a cokehead who purposely deceived & fucked over the others to make sure he could launch his solo career without competition. Zayn tried to outmaneuver him but didn’t have the powerful team behind him & has too much integrity to ever be the kind of “star” Harry is. tbh I enjoy how much it irks harry that Zayn sees through him. It’s wild how sincere the others stayed, how they matured, how they have bigger priorities than money or fame. Harry mimicked Louis’ personality when they were younger, pretending he couldn’t wait to have kids & marry - when really he just wanted to be as rich, promiscuous, and famous as humanly possible. He bootlicks anyone in showbiz, so he has a glowing reputation in the industry - it’s laughable. “TPWK” unless it’s your bandmates who you can’t deign to acknowledge unless it benefits you - hosting SNL or winning an award? ok, mention the band so you get headlines. But like one of their promo posts or even follow them back on IG? heaven forbid, bc that won’t benefit him more than them. It shows his true character that he’s SO successful but still won’t be openly supportive or even seen with them. I don’t think he’s evil but I do think he’s lost to the industry… which is sad, bc there’s once a lot of sweetness there. His eyes have lost their sparkle; he traded it for “success”.
Hi anon,
I was reading this ask and nodding my head right along each sentence. A lot to unpack here, but mostly you’ve said everything I’ve tried to say. I’m not sure if anyone is listening, to be honest! Like you wrote, blogs who don’t worship Harry never become popular. So here I am talking to the air lol. Insanity.
I don’t think Harry is evil either. I think he realizes the trade-offs now, watching his ex-bandmates’ careers slowly build with intentions very different from his, their old ties fading to nothing except when tragedy yokes them back together. He has gazillions in wealth, industry kissing his feet, a lot of women (+ a few men) fantasizing about him, but nothing inside, the lights gone from his eyes years ago. It must feel awkward to stand next to his bandmates again?
Here’s the thing. I’m sure in every circumstance, forever for the foreseeable future, Louis is always going to be the bigger man and speak well of Harry. No matter how many times Louis refutes the idea of Larry, Louis has always said he’s proud of Harry, and I am sure he means it. 100%. No matter what Harry says or does, Louis considers him part of One Direction, his band, and that concept is sacrosanct to him. “We move as one.”
What Louis has in his heart is worth a million Manchester Co-ops. It is priceless. No one can take it away— no Kardashian money, no Rolling Stone cover, no Anna Wintour, no A-list actress or acting role. Nothing. What Louis has is the feeling of loyalty and unity that is the epitome of the song he wrote, Strong. “I don’t care, I’m not scared of love.” It’s not romantic love, at least not anymore, but what Louis describes in Only The Brave— the love that comes from the deepest pain, from uncomfortable truths, alienation, grief— broken beaks and dead birds— the love that requires moral courage. “Because love is only for the brave.” Louis earned it by going through fire, the love that endures because he chose to respect it, intentionally, over all the other things.
Last, Zayn’s intentionality is also transparent for those who open their eyes and see. I’m glad to see that Zayn is touring, and choosing to play the same smaller venues as Louis when he first started his tour. I’m also glad to see Louis communicating via social media. It’s not actual friendship, but a step! It means so much.
Louis and Zayn aren’t perfect people— far from it— but they chose to stay grounded and chose to preserve some part of their humanity. I know they haven’t always been their best selves. But who they are, especially who Louis is, is so endearing, and so inspiring.
#one direction#louis tomlinson#zayn malik#liam payne#harry styles#niall horan#thank you anon for this ask!

I’m dying for your thoughts on what is going on in Dubai with the triangulation of Armand and Daniel in Dubai because nothing in 2.05 explain ms what they(beddeath vampires) could want him to tell them as referenced earlier in the season or warrant all the Rashid pageantry. Especially not with how Armand looks at Daniel like he just got home from the wars.
Your takes are exquisite and I’d love to hear them.
Ok, I THINK you're asking what the hell is going on with Daniel and Armand and Louis and the longing looks Armand keeps shooting Daniel and I might be missing some nuance to your question but that is the question I'm gonna answer because I can't stop thinking about it.
Ok. Ok, ok, SO!! The biggest question I think we're facing as of 2.05 is did the Devil's Minion chapter of Queen of the Damned ever happen?
For the uninitiated (LOTS of BOOK SPOILERS but like the books have been out for decades, sorry): Louis/Armand is like... not a thing. At least, it's not one of the big love affairs of the series compared to Louis/Lestat. I mean they've had a situationship but they're definitely not a long devoted love affair going right up to the beginning of the events of Vampire Lestat/Queen of the Damned, which is where the show seems to take place. They traveled together for a bit after the events of Interview with the Vampire but then parted ways because What Happened In Paris changed Louis irrevocably.
The big love of Armand's life in the books is Daniel.
And we learn this in the chapter of Queen of the Damned called the Devil's Minion.
Because Armand stumbles upon "The Interviewer" and falls in love and they have this fucked up whirlwind torrid romance where Daniel teaches Armand about the modern world and basically "how to be fascinating" and Daniel begs over and over to be made into a vampire.
Lots of stuff happens between them but short, TRAGIC version is that Armand does make Daniel into a vampire and it breaks Daniel's mind. He's not a cool powerful vampire once he's turned, he's basically a vegetable, he loses his mind and becomes a hollow husk of himself. (Ironically, insane-new-vampire!Daniel is left in the care of Marius of all people lol)
SO, from the book reader perspective, I shot upright on my couch when I saw old Daniel. Because Old Daniel means we're in... some flavor of happy AU? We're in an AU where Armand did the "responsible" thing and didn't give Daniel the Dark Gift, so Daniel got to grow old and actually be a person instead of being the Devil's Minion where Armand became his whole personality and then he lost his mind.
Thing is, since S1, I've been assuming, like others I think, that we're in an AU where the Devil's Minion didn't happen at all. That Daniel did the interview, he and Louis parted ways, and now he's back to finish it. It seemed neat, clear, if a little confusing for book fans because Daniel/Armand is one of THE great love affairs and it seems like it just got skipped entirely, which kind of makes sense since no other film version has really delved into it, right?
WRONG. OK, so with the longing looks that begin RIGHT when Armand finally reveals himself, the whole mic drop moment of "Armand, the love of my life" while Armand stares at Daniel, almost seeming to plead with his eyes "GET ME AWAY FROM HIM" and looking at Daniel with such longing, going into SEASON 2 where we learn that ok, the 1970s beat was WAY more complicated than it seems, Louis' memory is very faulty, Armand has actively tampered with both of them and we DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH....?
So my current theory is: the Devil's Minion DID happen.
Armand and Daniel had their love affair, but instead of turning Daniel, which by the way he had to be talked into doing because of Daniel's suicide attempt basically, Armand set him free. But CLEARLY he continued to stalk and pine after Daniel, if he was there at Daniel's fucking engagement reading his girlfriend's mind enough to tell Daniel what she was really thinking then. Armand was definitely still OBSESSIVELY IN LOVE. And, IMO, has been the whole time.
Now, what does this mean going forward? What do I think is going on?
Armand wants out of his relationship with Louis but he's chronically, pathologically, incapable of breaking up with anyone. He used Lestat to break up the Children of Darkness, he used Louis to break up the Theatre des Vampires, and now he's using Daniel to end this fucked up marriage he and Louis are in.
Armand is doing this first by consenting to renew the interview, Louis gets a walk down memory lane, remembers how much he loves Lestat. Not to solidify their bond with how good things are now, but to break it up with nostalgia.
Armand is also going to reveal things he's hidden from Louis, I think. Like the fact Armand killed Claudia. I think right now they're both operating under the excuse that Santiago and the coven did it in defiance of Armand but that is simply not true, Armand ordered her death to get Louis all to himself. But (book canon) her death broke Louis so basically Armand destroyed what he wanted in Louis in the gaining of him.
Armand also misses Daniel. He's doing the classic passive lover thing, using the next lover to get rid of the current one. That's why he picked Daniel specifically as the vehicle of his liberation. Boy wants to get white knighted in the most fucked up way possible. Evidence: every single painfully longing, puppy dog look he shoots Daniel's way and how those looks only get more intense the more Louis waxes poetic about how great the Loumand relationship is.
Armand appears as Rashid in order to establish for plausible deniability for Louis that he DIDN'T have a relationship with Daniel OR, if Louis knows about it, that he really did do as promised and wiped Daniel's mind. Look, Daniel doesn't even remember him! When he's standing right there! Pretending to be Rashid! He definitely didn't summon his former lover here to break up Louis and him, obviously this is JUST about Louis' desire to do the interview haha, definitely not trying to bring his old ex to break up his current relationship the guy doesn't even remember who he is.
In conclusion: Armand still wants to fuck that boy old man. And he wants to get rid of Louis by making Louis break up with him because that's how Armand rolls. And that's why this whole ridiculous pantomime is happening, because Armand will never, ever be the active party in the breakup because the boy is way, way too fucked up by his supremely fucked up life up to this point to ever be the initiator. Instead he will always, always manipulate those around him to do what he wants.

i feel like it’s acceptable to headcanon disorders like ADHD or autism or personality disorders to fictional characters but it feels like there is a taboo about dissociative disorders, making me hesitant to say this (even though im pretty sure ive said it before)
But i really do feel like Armand has some sort of dissociative disorder (DID or OSDD) because it just seems so clear that he is not really one person, one fixed identity. Arun, Amadeo, and Armand are all distinct personas, formed by intense trauma and kept apart by traumatic amnesia. I won’t pretend to be a psychiatrist but from what I do know of these disorders that is very much how they manifest and their defining feature.
It seems more this way in the show, especially with the scene where he refers to Amadeo and Arun in third person, and speaks of how he can’t really remember details like names or exactly how things happened (like how he says he was sold by his parents in 1947 vs how he said he was chased by slavers in 1973 (both could be true but it feels contradictory))
And how he does visibly act differently based on if he’s Armand (the cult leader, coven maître, the one being interviewed), Amadeo (who he was in Venice, rebellious, teenaged, who he has to be to Marius), or Arun (the child, slave, who Louis brings up to obey him)
You can definitely lean in with the Rashid thing as well, taking up different identities was easy for him because he’s so used to it, and being Rashid he was a servant, something he was already used to. Being Rashid was like being Arun again before he had to become Armand to counter Daniel.
It’s somewhat the same in the books but less clear, though Andrei, Amadeo and Armand are all definitely separate.
Anyway I really do think Armand has some kind of dissociative disorder with Arun, Amadeo and Armand being separate alters, rather than him having any sort of personality disorder.
Thoughts?
I ABSOLUTELY AGREE 100%. I have also been hesitant to talk about this, but I’ve been using it to influence how I write Armand in my fics!! but yes, all the way yes. I’ve had this headcanon since before amc iwtv s2 came out and I loooooveeee how they just solidified it with their characterization.ur incredibly right all the way.
even if u don’t think Armand literally has a dissociative disorder, it’s undeniable that he has the core symptoms needed to be diagnosed with a dissociative disorder. Not only does he have separate identities that carry separate memories, he also has huge gaps in memory and repressed memories, to the point where he can’t remember his entire childhood, which is like essential to having DID.
I think whether Armand could literally be diagnosed with a disorder like this is up for debate, but I think what matters more is that thematically Armand’s character resonates very close with how these disorders function and affect people. A core part of his character is that Armand doesn’t know who he is, doesn’t have a clear or consistent identity, and can not function as a complete person bcus his identity was fractured before it was able to form. This is like, the essence of what it’s like to have a dissociative disorder lol. So regardless of whether he technically has did or Ossd, I think he definitely does thematically. Armand is all about how trauma can break the brain from ever forming an identity correctly, need i say more, lol
THANK U SMMM FOR THIS ASK AHHH!!!

Random baseless punch out wii headcanon time!!
I KEEP TRYING TO SAVE THIS TO DRAFTS BUT IT KEEPS POSTING INSTEAD BUT FUCK IT WE BALL (i might add more stuff or change things but this is what I've got so far)
Doc Louis
Hes not the step dad he's the dad who stepped up
Hes got a tshirt that says that and every time he wears it in public mac dies a little inside
Hes also got pictures of him and mac together in his wallet that he likes showing off to people
Im gonna take this time and tell you about this crackship I like. Idk why but doc louis/gabby jay is just very cute to me and i wanted to share that with you
Little Mac
Everyone makes him transmasc, everyone makes him autistic, everyone makes him selectively mute and I just so happen to be part of everyone soooo...
I might however be projecting myself onto him just a little bit but whatev
Him and Birdie are like brothers to me, not biologically but still <3
Pretty awkward around his fans, especially the ones who don't respect his personal space (looking at YOU, nameless women in super macho man's title defense intro😡)
Got called into the counselors office at his school a lot because he was always covered in bruises, every time he just showed them his latest match on his phone like "yeah don't worry everything cool at home I just get my ass kicked as my job"
Tries to be friendly with all his opponents, or at least decent with them
~~~~
Glass Joe
I read the first couple chapters of this fic and now it's just canon to me, he is a single girldad and there is nothing you can do to change that
Well I say "dad" but sometimes I like to make her transfemme just because I can so when I do that she's still a milf instead
Has always had fucked up bones and joints and health problems and stuff, boxing just made it CONSIDERABLY worse lol
Gabby Jay is like his uncle or something
Sleeps like 3 hours a night and hasn't drank water in like 10-20 years, this freak is living off of coffee, bread, wine, cigarettes, and NOTHING else
Tried to be blond, it didn't work on him
The only reason he haven't died in the ring is because god is punishing him for his hubris
His one win was when Nick Bruiser died in the ring due to a completely unrelated brain aneurism
Von Kaiser
Used to crossdress back in his younger years, he may not do it as much anymore but he still has his dresses
Actually enjoys his job as a boxing teacher! He likes instilling knowledge on the next generation
Complete neat freak, trys to suppress it as much as he can but it's always there in the back of his mind
Definitely has SOMETHING wrong with him but thinks that if he doesn't get it diagnosed then it's not really a problem
Probably has like prosthetics or metal implants in his joints or bones or something, idk why else he'd make the noises he does
Disco Kid
I like to think that he does drag in his free time, makes you wonder if him and VK ever talk about it
Can fully SPRINT in high heels, hell he could probably fight in them too if they'd let him
Always has at least a little bit of glitter on him, it's a curse
Boxing is more of a hobby for him than a career, he's just having fun with it
Always makes sure his friends are safe and having fun whenever they go out somewhere
King Hippo
Scares babies and small children on accident just by being around them and feels REALLY bad about it
The first time he met glass joes daughter he made her cry and still hasn't gotten over it
Whenever fans ask him for a signature he either writes it in the most beautiful handwriting you've ever seen or he just draws a lil hippo with a crown, which one you get depends on how he's feeling
Has a storage unit somewhere filled to the brim with all those shitty blenders that had to be recalled
He still tries to pawn them off on people, too, if he ever tries to get you a gift for like your birthday or something you just know it's one of those shitty blenders
Oh and the "king" in king hippo isn't a stage name, he is actual flesh and royalty. His subjects seem to think highly of him and he treats them well. He does a pretty good job running things too but to be fair his kingdom isn't all that big, just one tiny island that isn't on any maps.
He usually doesn't hold his title over people's heads, mostly he's just some guy
Fully CANNOT swim but he can hold his breath for ages and just sort of walks on the ocean floor (gee, almost like his namesake)
Knows what gender is, does not care for it
Likes to sketch and draw :)
~~~~
Piston Hondo
Possibly aromantic? I don't really know and I don't think he knows either.
God why don't I have any headcanons for him?? He's my fucking wife!!!!
Ok I KNOW I said he's my wife but i saw like one person make him and Bear Hugger queer platonic partners and im in love with that idea
I feel like of the two he's the one who was most concerned with putting labels on it and trying to figure out what exactly they were but eventually just decided that even if they're not in a romantic relationship they can still be soulmates and I think thats beautiful
Hes a sweet guy but he can be pretty awkward around people lol
EXCELLENT cook like you have NO IDEA
Bear Hugger
Does NOT know his own strength. He'll go to hug somebody and and break their ribs, he'll go to open a jar and shatter it into pieces. He's trying his best to be gentle but good god.
Also the gay kind of bear (the stage name was on purpose)
Can actually literally for real life talk to animals. No fucking clue how he does it, i guess it's just a Canadian thing
Lost his squirrel after losing in title defense and was DEVASTATED, but DONT WORRY the squirrel was fine
The "i like raw fish" line isn't about sushi, be just sticks his head in a river and comes out with a live salmon in his teeth
Great Tiger
Has at least one if not a plethora of cats (one of which is a British shorthair cause I feel like that's the kind of cat he'd like)
"I feed you, I home you, I give you all the treats and toys you could ask for, and what do you do? You scratch up my furniture and knock over all my nice cups! What do you have to say for yourself?"
"Mmmrrp?😺"
"Hmph, you're lucky you're cute..."
Magic is a difficult thing to control so sometimes when he sneezes he teleports, happesnt to the best of us
It took him weeks to fully resolidify after getting poofed my mac in title defense so for a while parts of his body were just vapor
If i ever draw him I'm gonna give him widdle kitty fangs, trust me
Still trying to work on his music career, the dumbass
Him and don like to gossip together like catty bitches
Don Flamenco
Carmen 100% tops him, I will not elaborate (at least not until I finish my fanfic)
#1 bi4bi couple ever
Whenever he drinks he literally does not shut up about her
"Me gusta mi esposa porque es suave y cálida y bonita y amable conmigo🥰🥰"
Sure, alright dude
I know it's HEAVILY implied that Carmen left him after he lost to mac the first time but I choose to think that he just lost all his self worth and was CONVINCED that she was gonna leave him
That... might actually be worse now that i think about it
But whatever, in the long run they get married and have twins and grow old together and it's great<3
She likes him better without his toupee, more room for kisses<3<3
"I'd kill someone for you, PLEASE ask me to kill someone for you..."
Hes tried on her lingerie more times than he's like to admit, it's gotten to the point where she just bought him his own. She wasn't upset about him stealing her clothes, she was upset because pink is NOT his color
Also I'm sorry that literally all of these are about him and Carmen, I didn't mean to do that
He is a complete giga bitch to everyone except her
I like it when people interpret mac as being Hispanic because I feel like he'd try and start a conversation with don and he'd be like "Lo siento, no hablo inglés. (Lying)" and mac would just be like "¡Oh, está bien! Así que, como te decía..." and dons just like GOD FUCKING DAMNIT
~~~~
Aran Ryan
He used to be normal, but then they put him in a room. A rubber room. A rubber room with rats. The rats made him crazy.
Does not know Irish and refuses to learn because it reminds him of being in school and he fucking HATED being in school
Probably because of the adhd or whatever is going on with his brain
Will break somebody's nose if they make fun of his accent
I see folks giving him a ton of siblings and I really like that idea but I just gave him one cause I thought it'd be easier lol
I named his sister Sharan cause I thought it'd be funny, she's also fucking crazy but when they're around eachother they're too busy trying to reel the other one in to be crazy themselves so they sort of balance eachother out
Shes about 6-7 years younger than than him and even though he KNOWS she can stand up for herself he's still very protective of her
When he first started boxing professionally he would bring her with him to get her out of the house (even though she didn't like seeing him get hurt)
Used to read her stories to help her go to sleep and would stay with her to protect her from monsters
Has fistfought his dad and would do so again if he wasn't dead
Soda Popinski
Literally just this post
Him and his wife that I made up have been trying for a baby but haven't had any luck so far
Gained his sweet tooth after quitting drinking (ya know cause he used to be called vodka drunkinski, god I'm so fucking clever)
Is actually a gentle giant outside of the ring!
His wife started knitting him sweaters once she saw him go out into the snow nearly naked. He loves and cherishes them and wears them every chance he gets but he still goes outside without pants🫠
Has killed someone on accident
Bald Bull
I like to think that he's a pretty chill guy when he's not being hounded by the paparazzi but god damn they will not leave him alone
He was probably glad when mac became champ for all the reasons macho man hated it
I honestly don't know what else to say about him
Fuck it I'm giving him agoraphobia
Him and popinski are pals😊
Has killed someone on purpose
Super Macho Man
I'm gonna be real, in my first draft of this post i completely forgot he existed and if he was real and he knew that he would be thinking about it for WEEKS
His ass: NOT real
His tits: NOT real
Thinks he's talking Like The Youth when he says shit like dude and bogus all the time
Also he's like 50
Definitely has at least one kid that he pretends not to know about, dodges child support like it's bullets in the matrix
Idk what social media was like in 2009 cause I was 4 years old but I like to think that people bully him online
Tried to own the "release the bogus" thing but it was just suuuuuuper cringe
Sometimes I like to make him ftm, I think it's neat
Sometimes I also like to make him fluent in asl but I got that one from a fanfic
Mr. Sandman
Comfypilled cozymaxer (at least when he's not training and stuff)
I feel like he would not be able to play any of the punch out games if they existed in his universe
I really dont know what to put here either
I like to think that under that intimidating exterior hes a real sweetie but I also said that about popinski and bb so it feels like I'm just being stupid
Give him some chamomile tea. Now.
what i don’t get is if armand loved louis lol i mean,i guess he did but i really don’t know and assad on sdcc iirc kinda said he didn’t he just wanted what louis had to offer or something like that. also many people say armand is actually all about lestat so idk,if he is,i hope louis really didn’t love him so much bc damn the guy gaslighted him and made him a prisoner while pining for lestat??? crazy shit if so and so unfair to louis. i really don’t know why nobody questions armand side,the guy orchestrated a public humiliation,almost killed him and killed his daughter but somehow is louis’s love into question but not armand’s 🤔
I think him loving Louis and wanting him for what he had to offer aren't mutually exclusive. It comes down to Armand being a selfish creature with this greedy emptiness that can never be filled. Armand is strongly drawn to Louis who's so full of life and emotion because he hopes Louis could complete him and bring him alive, but instead he ends up snuffing out all that life in Louis. Even in healthy passionate romantic relationships people often feel like the other person completes them and their life and gives them something invaluable, and what makes it different from unhealthy/abusive relationships is that you still see your partner as a full person on their own and respect their needs that could be different from yours. Armand constantly prioritizes his own needs in his relationship with Louis, it's all about Louis filling the role and purpose Armand wants. I think Armand does love Louis but that empty despair inside him rules his existence and ultimately everything, even his love for Louis and for some few other people, has to serve that emptiness.
That's actually an interesting point about how Louis' love for Armand is often questioned but Armand's love for Louis rarely is. I think Louis is much more loving and forgiving than people give him credit for. Throughout the show we constantly see him express kindness and forgiveness toward both Armand and other characters, often more than they give to him. I think in 2.05 that's particularly clear where after Louis and Armand's fight and Louis' subsequent suicide attempt, Louis is the one apologizing and trying to connect with Armand and be kind to him, whereas Armand is cold and angry and intentionally hurts Louis physically and emotionally. In the beginning of their relationship Louis forgives Armand for trying to kill him, their relationship is arguably already ruined from that moment because of Armand betraying him like that, but he still forgives him. He gives Armand so many chances, and when Claudia tells about Armand's threats he still wants to give him a benefit of doubt. Even in Dubai he's deeply upset when he realizes Armand has messed up with his memory and you can see from his face that a part of him still wants to believe Armand when he says he didn't do it or did it with Louis' permission. Even though Armand says he couldn't trust Louis' love to last that long, Louis is actually remarkably loyal despite Armand not really deserving it and it's Armand who isn't giving Louis that trust and loyalty back.
Wrt people who say Armand is just all about Lestat they're usually book fans who watch the show through those lenses. In the books Lestat is the center of the universe and Louis mostly just a stick figure. In the show Lestat and Armand (and other characters like Daniel) are likely to perceive their relationships in the context of their relationship with Louis
(actual link to gif set because tumblr's being weird)
Man it's the fact this statement is weirdly big and generous and brave in Armand's mind. I think it was Assad or someone else who said it was a moment of overconfidence or almost gloating, which is not the exact vibe I get, but I think there's something to that big-headedness of having survived and gotten through it and it's over now and just... He just wants to see. He just wants to skip that little stone down the cliff and see what happens. Maybe if nothing happens *then* he would actually be able to exhale. (He will not. He'd find something else. There's an itch in him that's never going to be secure enough in the bed he made.) Maybe it's just wanting to test something - Louis or himself or how many ways he can't die.
People tie it directly to Armand not being able to say the words in 2x05, which is probably intentional, but also it's not *exactly* the same because for one thing it's in the Past Tense now. It's very much meant as a moment of *closure* - he DID love you, past tense, we don't know where he is or how he feels now and that doesn't matter - while in San Francisco with Lestat right there on the mind telephone, it was the present tense terror that maybe that really was all Louis needed to hear to go running back to him.
But their relationship has also changed SO dramatically since San Francisco that it feels like even the past-tense version is a very, very precarious thing to admit. Because it's not about the material love triangle, it's not who-will-Bella-Swan-choose, it's about 70 years of mythmaking and storytelling.
SIDEBAR: The show left us IMO with a very frustrating ambiguity about the extent to which Armand has used his mind powers on Louis, like to the point where you have some fans believing that *every single fucking memory* we saw onscreen that they didn't like for the last two seasons is Fake News actually, and other fans believing it happened Just That One Time GOD. (I personally lean toward way *less* mind manipulation than other people assume, and if it was literally JUST the shit that happened in 1973 that's... enough to be messed up lol. I think the "love of my life" and finishing each other's sentences scenes have some unsettling implications. I *don't* think Louis having imperfect recall and limited perspective of stuff that happened a century ago is because of Armand all or even *most* of the time.)
But the fact no matter what is that Louis has a lot of cognitive dissonance around Lestat because he WANTS it acknowledged on some bone-deep level that Lestat loved him, because he loved/continues to love him too. And if we're gonna insist on throwing the word "gaslighting" around when we just mean "lying", then at the end of the day it's about Louis being told he's not crazy by someone who has at times made him feel that way.
Idk maybe this is me getting Too Deep about a finale I still think is kinda unsatisfying and already had way too much to do with Lestat and not enough with Claudia. But I do like that moment when I look past the toxic love triangle and more toward "hey buddy [my best friend Armand] why are you Like That" and Louis' little smile breaking my heart.
Something sad about that moment is Armand's right that saying those words *doesn't* end the world, and if nothing else had happened and Daniel and the Vampire CIA weren't on their divorce-attorney kick, that'd be the end of it. (Hot take I don't think saying the words or not in 1973 would've really made a difference either, and there's so much more nuanced and wild shit going on there than an undelivered message romcom beat.) And Louis would be *grateful* for that moment of understanding and closure between them.
#armand#louis de pointe du lac#interview with the vampire#tried to hard to attribute the gif correctly even though it wouldn't link straight to it#get it together tumblr#so much iwtv meta in my drafts and so little i actually post. probably for a reason.
If you stuck those bloodsuckers on a one way trip to Gotham, who do you think is getting into a midnight brawl in a gas station parking lot and who's having a candlelit dinner at the Iceberg Lounge? Also, the kittens say hi!!! <3
hi to the kittens buddy!!!!!
Louis de Pointe du Lac is probably making it to the iceberg for that fancy rooftop terrace dinner, at first as a potential mark for Selina Kyle (but he doesn't swing that way and they'd probably hit it off so perfectly they wind up being best friends).
Lestat would piss everyone off (but particularly Joker and Music Meister), and somehow winds up crashing the dinner at the Lounge so he can show up on the piano in some over the top gesture for Louis. The Penguin and probably several others, both hero and villain, are in hot pursuit.
In an ideal world, it would be a Claudia and Madeleine + Harley and Ivy double date, but given they're all such strong personalities, I doubt they'd get along all that well - Claudeleine would wind up on a killing spree that doesn't really put plants at the forefront with continual asides about what the fuck is up with these weird get-ups in this town and mon dieu you américains avez des fétiches bien bizarres. (As an aside, Claudia has strong parallels with BTAS' Baby Doll, but she doesn't show up enough for me to suss out a way for them to meet lol)
Armand being who he is would get extremely, extremely into 1) figuring out if the man who dresses up as a Bat is in fact a vampire or not, and 2) fixated on solving every single one of Eddie's Riddles to 100% completion. He would then engage in something that would make whatever saw trap Riddler came up with look like child's play, possibly on the question mark guy himself.
As for the old man? Daniel cannot get along with a soul (he once attended a guest lecture on the science of fear at Columbia university to heckle the presenter on dubious funding/ties to the League of Shadows), but his old student Vicki emailed him telling him he wouldn't believe what goes on in this city, and, well, he's never one to step away from a tempting lead like that, even in his semi-retirement.
Hello, how are you? I wanted to ask what are your thoughts about the image that Louis has now, I see different opinions, obviously I don't buy that image from Louis but I see that many complain for analyzing "Louis or Harry lol but I still don't understand why Louis wants to sell that image of a bad boy" or he just has to do it? I don't buy that and I think not even many of the fans do it because I see that there is something that does not close. What is your opinion about this? Thank you if you answer
Congrats, you just won a front row seat to the show! Welcome!
Listen… images are a funny thing in this industry. You see people rebrand themselves all the time - shifting genres for a wider reach, change up of clothing style, doing a feature/collab with an artist that’s quite different to them, showing more of their life on Insta, creating deeper artist to fan relationships etc. all goes into a shift in image. And it’s, 99% of the time (and specifically if it looks unnatural or it’s a very big change), a way to get a wider fanbase and tap into the markets that they don’t have a lot of fans in.
I find the 1d boys the absolute best example of this, because they all went different ways with genres and styles and everything, and stepped so far away from the 1d image to create a fanbase that wasn’t just 1d fans. It was pretty much do or flop at that point - there wasn’t really a choice.
And, to keep their solo careers their own, their solo managers were keeping a close eye on what the others were doing, how it was working for them, and what demographics of the 1d fandom were left, really. Like what were those fans listening to now? If Harry tapped into the younger fans with very poppy songs and wild outfits, how could Niall step into a space where he gets more of an indie/folk maybe slightly older fanbase? How could Zayn insert himself into the r&b scene and solidify himself as not just an ex boyband member? What markets are left to access that are currently doing well on the charts and have somewhat of a crossover for 1d fans?
And I find this interesting because the boys, from very early on, already liked these genres. You can tell by their writing, and they were open talking about their musical influences from early on. They were then, after 1d ended, allowed to create music in genres they were interested in, and loved, and it’s really cool to see. It was like… they were set free and jumped and ran to whatever genre their heart desired, but there was definitely sway there on which way to go. They had to really push them into these markets and make sure the crossover with each other was limited, to prove that they were there own standalone artists and to create fanbases that didn’t listen to them during 1d. They are now solo artists in their own right.
Anyway, I know you’re talking about image like personality and fan dynamics etc more, so I’ll get to that.
Fuckboy/Bad boy Louis, whatever you wanna call that era, kicked off in like mid-late 2014 and then big time in 2015. Smoking darts and the weed video and more swearing, one night stands leading to… whatever, partying every night… he became so far removed from what a boybander should be. And they always had like… a bit of an edge to them, but his image got fully sabotaged to set up the stunt that shall not be named. His image was absolutely thrown in the fucking bin. There goes his “long term gf funny happy giggly lad” to “drunk party boy lothario who is too cool to care”. And if you think that was natural, was all him rebelling, it wasn’t. Those guys weren’t allowed to do anything, very strictly stuck in their hotel rooms, Larry was covered up to project a happy little innocent boyband that your kids looked up to. But alas, the Louis sabotage began.
People often think it was because he was starting to bite back at management more, which im sure has a part of it. But also, their teams, and the Azoffs, and many other high profile execs were noticing that 1d wasn’t gonna last too much longer. The cracks were starting to show, and who’s gonna make the most money off their solo career? Harry. He was the frontman by the end of it. He’d stunted so much before, and was known to be a serial dater, that he’d be easy to stunt again. It wouldn’t be randomly off brand to shove him with a hot chick who’s gonna tap into a new fanbase for him. He’s easy to market. He writes good music. He’s pretty, and he has the biggest fanbase. Cool. Done.
So, Harry was whisked away with promises of greener grass, and Louis was left with a tarnished image, an ongoing stunt, and bad restrictions on his career (don’t even get me started on the way SC manipulated the beginning of his solo career). And I have no doubt he was partying, drinking, smoking etc., but 99% of the time was an image thing. So, he ended up being 1d’s resident bad boy (Zayn was until he wasn’t), and he had more of an edge to him. A bad boy is a classic image to market. Girls looooove a bad boy. So, you’ve got this guy leaving a poppy boyband with a bad boy image, who wants to lean towards a rock/alt/indie genre, which is arguably the best place for him to be with an already established image like his.
So yeah he smokes cigs and pot and loves a pint and vodka, but it’s very… in your face. It’s sometimes so glaringly obvious that it’s a major part of his image that, while the drinking/bad boy vibe is meant to seem authentic, it looks less real. I’m sure some of it is, in fact, authentic, but it can come off a bit blatant with how it’s pushed. So anyway, I don’t think the smoking/drinking is pushed as much now as it was for a while there, which is good. But it’s a strong part of an image and good for the market he’s in, that’s for sure. It also keeps his fans a bit older too.
I do think that having watched him for so many years that he does push away his softer parts, as many of you would agree with me. He’s got more of a tough thing going on, and again, that major stunt has affected his image so much that it’s hard not to talk about. It just adds to the bad boy rock n roll star thing. Some more icing on the cake. But he’s been media trained/given whatever image suits/pushed to be someone for 15 years now… he’s better at hiding and compartmentalising his true self. He protects his real self a lot more now, and this image works, and him and all the boys are much more private. We see what they want us to see.
Anyway the short of the long of it is that whatever image he’s got going on for him right now, is still working. Maybe with LT3 he’ll push away from it a little more, or maybe he’ll double down. It’s hard to tell. There are definitely ways to crack into other markets, if he wants to do that, and I have a few strategies and thoughts on the matter… but for now, I think it’s doing what it’s meant to do, it’s more authentic than his 1d image, and he seems comfortable in his skin wearing the footy gear and the singlets. I just wish we got more of his genuine personality as he’s just so guarded (absolutely not blaming him here) these days. But we know him, we know his personality, we see what’s real and what’s not, and I hope in this next era, we get more of his true self.
Last part of TVL!
There's so much I feel like cannot happen on TV... Do you think some of it can happen? I guess, to embrace whatever will be instead as new can be exciting too!
Epilogue:
Questions:
Book-Lestat sleeps 1929-84 (55 years), but he’s really out of action 1860-1984 (from when Claudia murders him.) 124 years… He was mortal 1760-1780 then had pretty much 80 years of vampiric existence… really… when he awakens in 1984, although he is 224 years old, he has only lived 100 years of life - only now is he really embarking on actual living-years beyond a mortal’s. (It’s also implied Nicki is slightly older than Lestat as Nicki dies in 1789 and Lestat says he is 30. This could just be an *ish*, but still… This is also the year of Marius. So Nicki would be born 1759 and Lestat 1760 in the book….). Also Lestat, Louis and Claudia are together for 65 years… Ish. Louis made a vampire in 1791 and Claudia in 1794. Claudia and Madeleine are killed in 1865 in the book.
Now, on TV, Lestat is a mortal 1760-1794. He turns Louis in 1910 and Claudia in 1917 and they kill him in 1940… He’s going to be rockstar Lestat in 2025-ish, at which point he would be 265 years old… he is going to have been out of the world pretty much 1940-2025 - 85 years, but how much dirt nap time will he have had and when? I think he’s only going to sleep in between Nicolas and Louis myself. If he really did sleep for around 100 years, that would take him to a comparable amount of existence as book-Lestat - around 100-ish years (105) of mortal and vampire existence. Louis and Claudia and Lestat have only 23 years together, the three of them on TV?
OK… all that to say a few things - in 1860-1984 Lestat misses out on much of the Industrial Revolution, an era he finds desperately unromantic and depressing. How will the time shift affect this on TV? I think, given there’ll only be one nap it’ll be grief, not the era that drives Lestat underground most likely… but what is it about whenever Lestat rises that will bring him back? *Just* Marius? Because I would say NOW feel this dreariness and doom and lack of Romance of the Industrial Revolution…?? When compared to when book-Lestat wakes…
Q Will the show compare Nicki and Louis, or do you think they’ll be more different on TV given how Louis is compared to book-Louis. Here, Lestat compares their cynicism and self-destructiveness and I think those two traits are held nay show-Louis too…
Q How will it affect things that it is Louis rather than Claudia who gives Lestat his near slip into mortal death? The thing is, this is less true anyway on the show as Lestat is both stronger and less badly injured… and potentially it could up the poignancy of Loustat… but it would lessen something for Lestat and Claudia
Q Will Lestat not mention Antoinette, the way he doesn’t mention Antoine in the book. LOL - poor Antoine!
Q Might Lestat actually still say his murder was all Claudia’s fault to Armand, at least initially?
Q Book-Armand wants Claudia dead so he can have Louis and he wants Louis and Lestat to both think each other dead (though he’d kill neither.). But what does TV Armand want and why? Is it safely, solely? So he was willing for whoever to get killed at the trial as long as some thing remained so he could continue to exist and he literally wasn’t fussy? This concept feels pretty vague and strange to me…?
Q P511-2 Louis says Lestat made fledglings in NOLA, but Lestat says they’re orphaned fledglings who just stumbled on his lair. Who do you believe? I believe Lestat in this as I think he’d have been way too weak from how everyone describes him to make any fledgling and also Louis only assumes they’re his fledglings. However, I do believe Louis’ account that he visited Lestat in person, didn’t just see him through the window as Lestat describes here. It makes no sense that Armand tells Louis to go to NOLA to see Lestat, then Louis finds Lestat and doesn’t even enter the building to speak to him. In what world! No world! I think Lestat is just ashamed. Not because of how pitiable he looks and is… but because he begged Louis to stay with him so pitiably and Louis left him. I think the idea that Louis could walk away from him is too much for Lestat’s mind. And I also think he was pretty addled at this time - weak and every thing he’s unsure what was real or dream or illusion… so Lestat might not even fully remember it anyway, even though it happened. I think Lestat is ashamed and hurt.
I do think they need to get across the fact of Amand’s incandescent rage because he loves Lestat, but Lestat loves Louis in a way he never did, Armand.
Q Did book-Lestat make Louis partly to punish him for Nicki? And TV Lestat?
Notes:
“Louis was a sufferer.” - Is that what makes folk fascinating, Lestat?
“His blindness to the motivations or the suffering of others” reads like lack of empathy, naivety and self-centredness to me, as Lestat describes Louis… which doesn’t;t sound very charming to me…
Interesting that Louis eviscerates Lestat in IWTV, but p501 Lestat doesn’t care about denying any of that… BUT he wants us to know Louis begged Lester to never leave him - that Louis didn’t say he loved and needed Lestat is what bothers Lestat, not that he pained him as a literal Hell-Demon.
“He must look presentable, our lost lord. That was always his way.” I think this line could be on TV.
P510 - “My never ending supple of ‘coin of the realm’” - I love how Anne just writes this like it is here: a magical money tree.
“I’d slip a little deeper away from things, just lying in the dark.” I love how Anne describes depression, grief and withdrawal from the world.
Has anyone read Black Mask? Is it light or dark? Serious? Easy to read?
I wrote hearts over this last part of the book over and over: so much love for Louis.
Lestat is so out of it when Armand visits. He doesn’t know what’s real and what isn’t and doesn’t have the capacity to even think on it. P513 - many quotes here. Lestat feels close to madness…. And again, I say Louis did visit.
“Look at the fire. Wouldn’t it be lovely if it took the whole room? Wouldn’t it be lovely if it spread and spread and took us all? You can never see things becoming impossible. If only you knew beforehand the forces are… invisible… that bring you to a stop, you might be able to prepare… One day you can’ muster the will to cross the room. Open spaces… passable… everywhere… who saw it coming?” Richard Greenberg, The Dazzle. I’m reminded so strongly of this when Lestat is finally talking about candles running out, time passing in strange ways and at last going into The Earth to hold him, surrounded by slithering things that are not horrific.
Akasha’s words are exactly Allessandras (p518 & 221)
Things that can’t happen on TV:
Lestat doesn’t have a full mortal lifetime with Louis and Claudia, only 23 years
Lestat can’t tell us he only killed the evildoer during his time with Louis without huge retcon of conversations we saw
Claudia isn’t the one who took him closest to a mortal death, it’s Louis. And he was stronger and less injured, so also - not so close to a mortal death.
I’m really sad we can’t see Lestat as described on p504 - as a hideous and crippled monster, hunting on the outskirts of society, basically a revenant - his soul shattered as well as his body, such that his light is gone and he is a husk of a being, merely existing, more beast than human for sure.
Lestat cannot go to Armand in Paris in order to drink his blood and be healed. He is not as injured and he is stronger on TV too.
Armand can’t trick Lestat the way he does in the book into being imprisoned as Lestat is incredibly mentally fragile as well as physically fragile here in the book - psychologically and emotionally, and I just don’t see how he can be to this degree on the show, once again, given the above changes and that he cannot have just gone through these years of revenant-esque existence.
Armand can’t see Lestat’s scars as he does in the book.
Armand can’t feel the level of triumph he does in the book.
Lestat’s vanity matters here - when Armand is taking him to the theatre, he does’t want to be *seen*, but given he never looked more immaculate than at the trial, he can’t be bothered about this…. Like book-Lestat wouldn’t want to see Louis in Paris as he’d be ashamed of being seen how he was there by Louis, for example.
Lestat is in fact so fragile here, that even is courage deserts him. I want to see this Lestat in Paris, but I cannot conceive of how it could be possible given the changes on TV.
Assad would be so brilliant conveying Armand’s incandescent range at Lestat reminding him all he’d given him and expecting something now in return, when from Armand’s perspective, he hasn’t let go of what Lestat did to the old coven at all… but all of this can’t happen on telly…
Lestat can’t be kept in the Bosch basement of literal Hell….. nor can he be shoved with barely any warning into the trial as he rehearsed it on TV…. Might Armand keep him in one of the coffins in the cellar, like Nicki, like Louis for a time? (See quote p508). I don’t think so, but it is possible…
Claudia going silently into death didn’t happen. It’s really sad how Lestat describes this in the book.
Armand pushing Lestat off the tower - it’s just too similar to the Louis-Lestat drop… unless Armand literally replicates it to punish Lestat??? But if that’s the case it isn’t like the book in any case.
Lestat being stuck in Paris (a place of trauma for him) for 2 years till he is strong enough to get back home can’t happen.
Armand’s vision of restoration to SadStat p514 can’t happen BUT I WANT IT. I love how it echoes the glorious vision from when Lestat was but a baby vampire too, that Anne wrote in that magnificent prose!
Armand can’t watch over Lestat for 55 years in NOLA as Lestat sleeps like in the book, I’m sure. Might he during Lestat’s 1800’s nap? It’s described how he does this by Louis in the book on p531
Louis can’t have thought Lestat was dead… not pre-rock star era a anyway as he’s literally just seen him! Too many changes for that. In the books, when Louis visited Lestat, he thought he was dying a mortal old-age-esque death and he left him anyway, which for me amps up the tragedy of it, as Louis loves Lestat, yet leaves him. Leaves him thinking he may never see him again, as he may now die. And maybe it’s what he deserves. And maybe it’s a kindness. And now he is alive and restored here… but it can’t be this way on TV. Things are not this way.
Lestat being sarcastic is fun:
Sarcastic about other vampires in fiction p502
And again, p530
Lines for TV
Harecatcher/ratcatcher from Armand to Lestat
Delicious it was, the hatred between us, or so I thought. Such unfamiliar excitement, to have him there to ridicule and despise.
"I can't deceive you," I answered. "I can't love you. What are you to me that I should love you? A dead thing that hungers for the power and the passion of others? The embodiment of thirst itself?” - but when? As not in NOLA…..
I hope Lestat says this “The earth was holding me. Living things slithered through its thick and moist clods against my dried flesh. And I thought if I ever do rise again, if I ever see even one small patch of the night sky full of stars, I will never, never do terrible things. I will never slay innocents. Even when I hunted the weak, it was the hopeless and the dying I took, I swear it was. I will never never work the Dark Trick again. I will just ... you know, be the "continual awareness" for no purpose, no purpose at all.”
I’m sure Louis will call Lestat Monsieur Le Rock Star.
“I think to be this happy is to be miserable, to feel this much satisfaction is to burn.” Lestat, on being with Louis.
“And I had always loved him, hadn't I, no matter what happened, and how strong could love grow if you had eternity to nourish it, and it took only these few moments in time to renew its momentum, its heat?” Such a lot of love in this meeting.
Hopefully we get to see Louis protect Lestat by punching someone like he does p544….
Dionysus in San Francisco:
Questions:
Q How will a rockstar tour work? Akasha appearing at the final concert and that being San Francisco? I guess the music industry is very different now… you wouldn’t get someone as famous as Lestat describes with such buzz yet who’d never performed live, I think…. Also, Louis worries about Lestat performing one concert… how will he feel about a whole tour? When will Akasha wake? How will Marius play Lestat’s music to her?
Q Will Lestat write an actual book? Or will it be something else? And how will Louis consume whatever it is?
Q P529 What’s the pain Lestat senses in Louis? “I sensed a pain in him, running like a vein of ore through his whole being, a vein that could carry feeling to the coldest depths.” Yearning? Worry? Guilt? Regret?
Q Lestat seeks meaning to fit the age, but The Age now is the 2020’s, not the 1980’s. What is the spirit and meaning of right now?
Q Any lines you think might be used as song lyrics?
Q: Will Lestat’s rockstar career be compared to Nicolas and the Theatre Des Vampires?
What Lestat is doing with his rockstar stuff is very similar to what Nicolas was doing with the Theatre des Vampires 200 years earlier. Both of them are actually revealing true vampire experience though art, which is perceived by mortals as only art.
But actually Nicolas did it in a more artistic & darker & meaningful way - with some kind of actual lesson about true evil in his art & the artistic expression of his own experience.
However, Lestat in true Lestat style goes all out on charisma & fun & entertainment & wants to create joy & enjoys the kind of pagan/religious/Witches’ Place Rapture of it all.
But, Lestat despises Nicolas’ art as a vampire: because it is so vampiric & inhuman. He calls it ‘petty’. But it *is* at least Nicki’s genuine expression. And I don’t think we can argue anything other than that it was ‘better’ art, too! And Lestat - you and Nicki both *are* vampires! You made Nicki this!
In any case, what on Earth would 1780’s Lestat say to his own 1980’s art!!!?!
Lestat even calls his own lyrics puerile… so why does he not even want to make good art? The lyrics in all caps and the fact they were vampire capes… it is all SO cheesy!!
I am also reminded of Lestat’s first on-stage vampire breakdown with his rockstar feats - there’s a similar vibe, except in a new era, where Lestat no longer scares as these humans can believe these things possible that weren’t possible 2 centuries earlier.
Q Lestat reading a Bowie biography at some point? Surely some biography of some musician we’ll see…?
Lestat literally screams “"I AM EVIL! EVIL!”” P541 and it is SO Nicolas screaming what he truly is at passersby… yet the impact is different as 2025 is different. But I feel you could parallel this somehow if you so chose to.
The concert is described as almost transcendental.
“Deliver me from this, deliver me from loving it. Deliver me from forgetting everything else, and sacrificing all purpose, all resolve to it. I want you, my babies. I want your blood, innocent blood. I want your adoration at the moment when I sink my teeth. Yes, this is beyond all temptation.” - Love me to death.
Notes:
“Our record album” is so antiquated! Is it Lestat or Anne, out of touch? Anne wasn’t old when she wrote TVL, so maybe it is intentionally Lestat?
Louis knows Lestat seeks him when he drives Diivisadero Street (p522 & p527)
Vampire loneliness on p523 “I realized that I possessed a new concept of loneliness, a new method of measuring a silence that stretched to the end of the world. And all I had to interrupt it were those menacing recorded preternatural voices which carried no images as their virulency increased:”
Lestat wants to feel the love of an audience, from the adoring swathe. To be the God.
“My Louis” p523
“And at odd moments I remembered those long-ago nights at Renaud's little theatre too clearly. The strangest details came back, the feel of the white paint as I had smoothed it over my face, the smell of the powder, the instant of stepping before the footlights.” When I was 8 I was in Laurel’s ballet - a ballet written by a girl who’d once danced at the dancing school and tragically died young (I didn’t know her. I was only 8. She hadn’t been at the dancing school when I was there. I presume she must have died in her early 20’s and left the dancing school before I began when I was 2.) Anyway, I was the youngest group in the ballet - we were 8-18 and it was all about the sea. People played pearls, seahorses, the rainbow, the swirling waves, the sun…. But me? I was SEAWEED. To cap off the insult, most characters got a choreographed dance, but we just had to lie over rocks, still for the majority of the ballet then swirl about randomly for a moment. But we also wore one-shoulder, poo BROWN leotards with thick, hurts hard elastic in and with straggly bits of green dangling off them on and our entire face and arms and legs and shoulder were covered in green greasepaint. We did two shows some days and I can still smell that green greasepaint… which, is NOT easy to get off, may I add! Just, Lestat talking of his painted face brings that smell and feeling back to me, too.
“"I want to affect things, to make something happen!”” Is this the root of Lestat? Despite all in his mind, Lestat is a doer.
Salamander is hilarious. I hope they keep the name on TV.
The oyster shell swimming pool is so ’80’s.
I love how Lestat describes Louis is this part of the book, and seeing Jacob and Sam together as Louis and Lestat with this vibe is going to be so beautiful. I drew hearts all over the pages.
The embrace on page 526 reminded me of the S2E8 embrace?
“It was like taking pictures from the attic, cleaning away the dust and finding the colors still vibrant. And the pictures should have been portraits of dead ancestors and they were pictures of us.” - Such exquisite and evocative description. And “everything growing older, except us.” There’s a new sense of time for Lestat now.
Are you interested? Yes, you know I am… hehehehehe - this will be electricity.
I love Lestat feeling too much to be able to say he loves Louis.
“I didn't tell him about the mortal part, the vanity of wanting to perform, the eerie madness that had come over me when I saw myself on the television screen, saw my face on the album covers plastered to the windows of the North Beach record store.” We could ask Sam if he can relate to Lestat here?
P532 Louis tells Lestat he thinks he understands but does he really - just as Allessandra did in Les Innocents so long ago.
P533 - talk of evil to fit the age… how would a vampire fit in in 2025?
P536 Love the talk of coming back to each other… though likely doesn’t fit for TV in quite this way.
“the love I felt for him was positively humiliating.”
“The morning was too empty after he had gone.”
P536 - crazy that Lestat has never actually even been to a gig to watch! And it is interesting how he describes the experience of performing in such a religious-ritualistic way, that reminds me of Mael’s druid ceremonies and The Witches’ Place more than it reminds me of Renaud’s.
I’d forgotten how many scythes there are in the last section! How did they get them through security?!
Lestat and Louis both have the power to burn people on TV… not just Akasha, so some of this will be different.
I’m excited to see Gabrielle and Louis together! What does Louis think of Gabrielle? What does Louis understand of Lestat from meeting Gabrielle?
So interesting how you can feel the calm Akasha projects to Lestat and he alone.
“"That music of yours could wake the dead.”” Is such a Mum thing to say, haha!
“And I felt the voiceless cry rising out of me and traveling into oblivion. I could almost feel it traverse the world of visible proportions, feel it grow fainter and fainter, feel it burn out.” Gorgeously written!
I feel so bad for Marius at the end here. Though he also, once again, did play Lestat’s music to Akasha! I love the many repetitions of earlier phrases in this last section of the book - echoes through time.
“Alien, utterly foreign, yes.
But not uncivilized, no, not savage. She was not that. She was only just reawakened, my goddess, risen like a magnificent butterfly from its cocoon. And what was the world to her? How had she come to us? What was the state of her mind? Danger to all of us. No. I don't believe it! She had slain our enemies. She had come to us.” - lovely
The end is great as a TV series ending! Better than for a book!
“But I couldn't fight the drowsiness and heaviness any longer. Pure sensation was driving out all wonder and excitement. My body grew limp and helplessly still against the earth.
And then I felt a hand suddenly close on mine.
Cold as marble it was, and just about that strong.
My eyes snapped open in the darkness. The hand tightened its grip. A great mass of silken hair brushed my face. A cold arm moved across my chest.
Oh, please, my darling, my beautiful one, please! I wanted to say. But my eyes were closing! My lips wouldn't move. I was losing consciousness. The sun had risen above.”
I wonder how they will portray how Lestat feels towards Akasha on TV?
hi! i read one of yours asks where you say rockstar lestat isnt real real lestat. which is funny, because i never felt that difference, i never felt the rockstar "persona". i saw it as just lestat rockstaring in the books. he would never pretend to be something other than himself, i think. he can be quite the chamaleon and still be genuinely lestat, he is an ACTUOR in his veins afterall lol. so im curious about your view if you can elaborate.
you think in the show they are going for this and make a rockstar persona? because i did notice in the teaser he seems too fashionable, i always saw in the books him doing and being his own thing and not in a trendsetter way. just like "lets try this other thing out". i think he never cared about trends or being on top of the wave. lestat owned the rockstar, not the other way around, if makes any sense. he calls himself the outcast. and he called it his freddie mercury moment in the books, and in my opinion freddie too wasnt too bothered with what was happening around in the music business or being the top and just loved music and.. opera!
i hope they dont go with the bored soul, chaotic, sex and torment, groupies everywhere kind of trope. i mean he is much more alive than that, much more. rolin named dr frank n furter and also freddie! come on! lestat is too busy loving life and how poetic it can be to just enter the stereotypical vortex of the "rockstar" motif.
this started with curiousity and then i realized certain things that puzzled me. i hope i dont sound negative, sorry if i did. but i gotta say besides this, i love that song and i love the inspo daniel and rolin named, like books, musicals and music. but i really hope they dont go stereotypical rockstar tour with lestat.
i hope i managed to make you understand what i mean. all of this just because i saw the teaser too fashionable ahhaha.
All good, what I meant was that Lestat is sitting there in his make-up, and his costume... and that is a deliberate "persona". I don't mean that he is not real (that's why I said "real real"^^) there, but it is a facet, a mask.
Oh, he does have this in himself, this is very much an expression of himself - but this is probably not how he would hit the sofa to watch a movie with Louis.:) That's what I meant.
I for one cannot wait to see all the facets they will show us - and I bet the more colorful, and vibrant parts of the documentary will provide a very welcome counterpoint to the dark parts of TVL that are about to come up.
Re the fashion... I mean, in later books Lestat very much knows about style and how to clothe himself in stylish, sleek clothes. I personally cannot wait (and hope and pray) we get the table-axe moment. Like... can you imagine....
Oh my God wait I have more to say on that. If you need the full scene I'm quoting: https://youtu.be/63708PykTcg?si=Bws3wyRs_TkyxPaH prepare for a lot of yapping
Hear me out. It's the "I don't like to share." Val has made it v clear she doesn't like the thought of sharing mc with Hana and clear bc of her own fears and anxiety surrounding her relationship with mc who remembers nothing about their life together.
and the "what about antionette?" "It's different I don't have feelings for her." Hana feels like the antionette to val bc, and these are just my thoughts from reading, we can see that val does care for Hana to some degree but never to the degree that she does with mc. Or maybe she does and just hides it to keep from getting attached like she was with mc and keeping Hana safe from being another one of the councils victims 🤔
And lastly the "that's bc you TOOK my life" is really getting my brain going. Especially since we see mc begin to question whether or not she wanted this life. Like, the potential behind it is putting me through the wall rn
Anyways you don't have to respond to any of this I just wanted to yap and share these thoughts bc BOY does blood choke get me thinking
hehehe yes i do think Valentina can be quite similar to Lestat in some aspects, particularly with her relationship with mc.
and you're right, she does care about Hana... in her own fucked up way. she keeps her more at a distance than she ever did mc because of that loss, which she is still mourning (even now with the mc back. she's not the mc she remembers) and she just was never able to open herself up completely to Hana. Valentina has treated both Hana and the mc terribly in the past (and the mc, at least, treated her just as bad, too, while Hana more or less just took it silently). she does care about Hana, but with the mc-shaped hole in her chest, she isn't sure how to express it, and now that the mc is back, she feels conflicted about her feelings & wants to show her devotion solely to the mc. and obviously she will get jealous of Hana (or Clear) because unless the mc brings it up, she won't share. exactly because of her anxieties (the loss of memories and how that may lead to mc choosing someone else completely) and she's actually fearful that the mc may judge her or be angry herself about Valentina's relationship with Hana (the mc was a jealous person in her past life). obviously their relationship was never Perfect, but Valentina is definitely being crueler to Hana than she ever has been before, almost like she's "showing off" for the mc, and even trying to drive Hana away. (you can potentially call her out on this in the next chapter)
and because of this Hana is realizing that even though she took the abuse and was always there for Valentina, it doesn't matter; mc is back and that's all Valentina cares about. (even if it's not necessarily 100% true-- to Hana, all she feels is that she's being discarded). that's what prompts her confrontation/conversation with the mc in ch3.
going forward there's a chance for this to change, depending on how the mc approaches the two. even if you're not romancing Hana in the poly there are still opportunities to include her (or exclude her, if you want. you can explore that route, too) and with the mc back, Valentina can potentially open herself up more to Hana than she was able to before, platonically or romantically, with mc's urging.
honestly i feel that Hana was more directly inspired by aspects of Claudia's character than Valentina with Lestat (they just happen to be similarly obsessed with mc/Louis respectively). and while i don't necessarily like to say one choice is "bad" i will say being cruel to Hana does have consequences. but i'm still writing it because i want that to be an option to explore specifically with Hana's character, and i don't necessarily want it to feel like a punishment to the player, but this game isn't exactly a feel-good game, and i do plan to make it hurt. lol
and as for your last point... yes it IS interesting. we'll probably never know if the mc was really consenting at that time (can any human really consent when eternal life is beyond their scope of understanding?) and it just adds another fuzzy layer to the messy onion that is her relationship with Valentina.
#you'll realize that a LOT of this game is about Doubt#you'll never get concrete answers about everything due to the mc's memory loss#the only people from her past that can tell her all have ulterior motives and reasons to lie. are they lying? who knows#valentina joan the council... hana is probably the most honest but she wasn't there for any of it#and now she has her own doubts too. about how valentina has been treating her and their relationship as a whole#and she's even doubting the truth of what happened between valentina and the mc and julien as she learns more about the mc#this game is about ''imperfect'' victims and the relationships they have & the kind of. ripple effect caused by abuse & its trauma#and also vampires. :-)#ask#ser-ratking#anyways thanks for letting me yap also LOL
