I think my least favorite thing about my ASL professor is she like. Messes up a lot during video tests. She'll rub her nose and cough in the MIDDLE of the sentence we're supposed to write back in English. So I get all confused over whether she's signing or if she's just coughing or sneezing. She also like... doesn't follow the book sometimes??? The book will show us how to do a sign and what it looks like, then she'll do it and it'll have a completely different handshape and such.
It's hard enough for me to understand the language in the book don't add stuff randomly please!!!!!!!!!

I had a thought and needed to draw this exchange between @muwwwsky's proship-chan and anti-chan.
If you need context, then put "kys" into Google translate ( Danish translated to English ofc )

De-aged and injured Danny
Danny is found out by his parents. They don't take it well.
Clockwork is very upset about this, because he'd gambled on almost-certain odds of them being chill about it. So now he has to run damage-control before this very unlikely time-line goes even further off the deep end.
Unfortunately, Danny needs to be in the living world, not the Infinite Realms. Which means that Clockwork needs to put Danny somewhere safe. Somewhere where nobody will find him.
And double-unfortunately, the only place that remotely fits this bill is to contact Lady Gotham.
City-spirits aren't... super-reliable. They're Neverborns who very very rarely consider "humanoid shapes" worth figuring out. So they just kind of... exist. An ectoplasmic presence that's undeniable, but also extremely difficult to have a conversation with.
Thankfully, Lady Gotham is (for all of her... quirks) generally very hero-aligned. Which is why she's the best one to ask for sanctuary for Danny.
Danny who Clockwork de-aged as a way to "limit his injuries" of being vivisected.
Lady Gotham agrees, but she only has one "safe place" to put him. And her Knight is a little bit too paranoid for her to just dump an injured child in his lair, without causing more trouble than it's worth.
But it's hardly a difficult thing, to arrange a few things, and place Danny in a spot where his injuries will cause her Knight to hurry to his aid.
Such as... in a room filled with medical equipment, right next door to where Joker has just lost a fight with Batman.
Things escalate somewhat when Batman finds him and makes some assumptions about what Joker has been up to. Tempers run a bit high, someone loses a few extra teeth, someone else has to physically drag Bruce off Joker's body before he beats him to death, and the Joker considers the whole thing a grand old laugh (he has no idea what's going on, but it sure pissed off Batty, and that's always a treat).
Of course, the Batfam has to actually investigate the scene, evacuate Danny, give Danny medical aid, and then also ask Danny about what happened.
Danny wakes up and is very confused about a lot of things.
He's no longer being vivisected. Great. Love that part.
He's somewhere he doesn't recognize (the Batcave). Could be good, could be bad. At least the bed is pretty nice?
He's very small. This feels like a personal attack. He might not have gotten a good growth-spurt yet, but taking away what he had is cruel and unusual.
And there's a weirdo in an... armored bat-costume? Who isn't setting off his ghost-sense? What the hell kind of "normal" person wears something like that?
Still, Danny does answer the questions that Batman asks him, because... well, there's a green post-it-note in his pocket that says he shouldn't lie.
So Danny tells Batman about his parents cutting him up "for science". And Batman hears that the Joker somehow managed to hire two mad scientists who (upon the tiniest bit of suggestion from the Joker, who'd definitely seen the similarities between Danny and Jason and thought it would be a "funny prank") had leapt at the opportunity to vivisect their own son.
This is definitely worrying, because from the phrasing, they'd been "wanting to do it for a long time". And considering Danny's slow heartbeat and low body-temperature? They'd been wanting to do it because he was a meta.
So, somewhere out there (the Bats had found no trace of the two) were two deranged lunatics who wanted to cut open metas to "see how they worked".
Batman does the very reasonable thing and actually contacts the rest of the Justice League with their descriptions, just in case they'd managed to leave Gotham before the Bats had tracked them down.

yknow I really didn't think it was possible to make me angrier at JK Rowling but then I found out she wrote a book abt an autistic person being sucked into a cult (that's totally not an analogy for trans people what you talking abt) because they just can't possibly know what's good for them, they need their fathers to come and hire private investigators to get them out of a cult. And in the book autistic people are referred to by the r slur and called "a bit simple".
I didn't think it was possible for me to hate this paternalistic, honeyed head-patting, self-righteous, hate-driven HAG of a woman more than I did but fuck me here we are.

very strange when the chorus of ajax curses the man who invented war by saying "he did not allot to me... the sweet sound of the aulos" (1199-1204). they are singing this choral ode to the accompaniment of the aulos.

This is gonna be a bit of a long rambling personal post sooooo do what you will with that information
The way that Butchered Tongue makes me literally sob
Every time I learn more about Irish history and I learn why my name is spelled the way it is and why my family had to come here makes me feel sick
My last name is Egan, it should be Mac Aodhagáin but when the English colonized Ireland they changed the spelling of last names to kill their language and it happened for hundreds of years
This specific line of my family lived in Offaly for centuries until they were starved out of their own country by their queen who had stewardship over them.
But Irish is still spoken, I have ways of learning it, and people are taking back their names and the names of places. They failed at destroying that culture and I am so openly and annoyingly proud of my all my weird amount of Irish ancestry
But if it weren't for the colonization and imperialization of Ireland my name would still be Mac Aodhagáin. My language would be Irish and I'd be living on the same land that almost every other person in my line has lived on.
It makes me want to curl up and cry and it makes me so fucking angry and if this is how I feel about something that was so tame compared to what happened in America then I can only barely begin to imagine how Native Americans feel about how their land and their people and their cultures and their languages have been ravaged. And every other group of people who've had their cultural identity and their population obliterated for the sake of fucking profit
It's horrific what human beings do for the sake of control over other human beings. It makes me sick
I grieve the cultures that were stolen from me, both Irish and Scottish, and I’ve spent several years trying to reconnect with them, but I also know that it’ll never be the same as it could’ve been if they hadn’t been butchered by the English monarchy for hundreds of years. And that hurts very deeply
I encourage everyone to learn about their family history, and in turn it’ll help you learn about who you are.
And I also encourage everyone to listen to Unreal Unearth because it’s very good

I laugh every time someone says Penelope is more of a feminist who understands women's rights more than Eloise simply because she's LW because, be so for real right now, that is such a lie. Like Eloise has her moments and her feminism is very yte and privileged, but at least she takes the time to actually consider from other's perspective, even if she's rude here and there, and appears to make attempts to grow as a character (when the narrative allows her to rather than picking favorites). Penelope exposing secrets and being feared by most of the Ton, especially the women and young girls, for the amount of power she has does not scream feminist to me but go off.

I don't know if this is a point that needs defending, but I feel strongly that Tommy's love language is quality time.
Evidence with Buck:
We've already talked extensively about how Tommy Shows Up to the wedding even sooty and exhausted.
At the bachelor party, he's not especially demonstrative, but he's THERE when he's sleepy and on standby and the party sucks, and he only leaves when he's called in to work.
They don't touch at the medal ceremony (I headcanon that they agreed not to), but Tommy sits next to him, stands next to him, goes through the buffet line with him.
Offering flying lessons and Muay Thai lessons: This isn't really an act of service, because neither of these is actually useful to Buck -- but they are a way to spend time together. The Muay Thai conversation is literally, "Of course you'd rather hang out with Eddie" / "I'll teach you so you can hang out with me too!"
In the first kiss scene and the 7x10 date night, Tommy shares his own feelings of jealousy. Words of affirmation would have stayed on Buck (you're great, you have nothing to be jealous of, your birth father doesn't deserve you); switching to himself puts the quality in quality time (we're bonding, we're having a deep conversation, this is reciprocal).
And with EDDIE. oh BOY:
Goes to his house THREE TIMES in the first TWO WEEKS, I'm still hung up on this, that's so fast.
Muay Thai
Working on cars
Karaoke trivia night
Basketball
Trip to Vegas: Kind of an act of service/gift, but if it was easy for him to get the tickets, the emphasis is more on spending a significant amount of time together.
Again. It's been a few WEEKS.
I suspect Tommy is amazing at words of affirmation when necessary, and I like to imagine he's big on romantic touch. But what we've seen of him in season 7 leans heavily toward Being Together, rather than Doing Things, as the way he expresses interest. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

"If I were Devi, I would've picked Paxton."
Well, you're not Devi. She didn't love Paxton and she moved on from him.
Paxton didn't pick her, either. He moved on from her.
Ben never moved on from Devi. Devi never moved on from Ben. They dated other people to distract themselves from each other, but they were always drawn to each other.
In the end, there wasn't a choice. There was only Ben for Devi and Devi for Ben. You don't have to like it, but that's how it is.

Lockwood in the show: A smart, charismatic boy, with a sharp tongue and who's very good at persuasion.
Lockwood in the book: takes out the biggest anti-spirit rocket on the market. I paid a lot for this. SO WHO'S WITH ME?!

IF ONE MORE FUCKING PERSON IN THIS SHOW GREETS THE OTHER BY SAYING "GOOD MORROW" I SWEAR TO GOD. JUST GREET EACH OTHER LIKE NORMAL PEOPLE DO. DID EVEN ONE PERSON IN GAME OF THRONES EVER EVEN SAY THAT ONCE? LET ALONE EVERY FUCKING TIME THEY GREET ANOTHER PERSON?

Not a super huge thing I realize, but sometimes I see people talking to/at Israelis on this website and nitpick the shit out of what they're saying without giving the grace that reasonable people generally try to have for other people from countries where English is not the default or native language? I realize a lot of Israelis do speak English quite well (obviously) but it's just interesting to me how quickly people will compromise on their closely held values when it allows them a quick dunk on someone from a country they don't like.
Additionally the "isn'treal" stuff is Facebook level and not worth getting frustrated about, but I do also think it's interesting that it's ok to mock and misuse words from a different language, and then act like people are insane for feeling like you might be mocking them and their people for whom that language is, y'know, culturally important.

for a while when I was a kid I thought “opposable thumbs” was a silly phrase to refer to the trade-off of how intelligent and capable but also horribly destructive and short-sighted humans are….I thought it was like “thumbs are neat but we abuse their power which is very oppose-able. we’re the only creatures that have them and we’re the only creatures fucking shit up like this. coincidence I think NOT” that’s what I thought it meant

it may be because I couldn't stand the thought of not reading in my adulthood that I actively looked for a mostly academic career that will make me have to read for my entire life, but I don't understand this hesitancy to say folks have to read to make sense of the world, and that you have to read in order to understand politics and the changes that are occuring around you. of course, being able to read is an unique challenge and it has always been somewhat of a priviledge, but reading people on their phones saying that reading is a priviledge they cannot access from their twitter/tiktok/tumblr account is perplexing to say the least. you are effectively reading when you scroll your twitter/tumblr dash for hours, or reading comments on tiktok, its just not very stimulating for your brain. and anyway, reading isn't even about taking a book and spending hours sat down in a couch or library dissecting it, which Is inaccesible for many people. its also downloading a pdf and sitting ten minutes or listening to an audiobook while you do other things and I just don't get why people are so defensive when told the second options ...?? I don't Get it ❤️ I don't think being expected to be explained to every political thought you should have is good for you. We can't sustain politics or nuanced discussions on what to do in twitter threads explaining political concepts to you. I think political classes are important, and they should also be considered for introducing folks to politics, but in those clases readings are a must. Even the class itself (I believe) should consider some reading together time. Reading is good for you!!! If you can you should do it!!! <- the word can is doing a lot of work here.

It's crazy how every anti post is wrong.
There's this one person in the proship tag who is dying on the hill that proship = problematic ship and it's lowkey driving me crazy. There's no point in saying anything because they've already decided that proshippers are subhuman, but oh my goodddddddd they're so wrong about everything they post.
