Everytime I listen to the Ancient Rome Sidequest it destroys me emotionally. But who knows, maybe somewhere there's a world where nothing terrible happens and it's just Sasha and Grizzop having fun adventures in ancient Rome.

I can't find it now but there's a post about suspension of disbelief and how it's broken when the story starts trying to excuse it. "character gets knocked unconscious for hours but there's no further issues from this" okay 👍 "and actually this makes perfect sense because of this and that" um no it doesn't why are you lying to me. like i am willing to ignore the holes and the discrepancies!! all you need to do is let me and not bring unnecessary attention to it!!!

and all that is my issue with the whole robin child soldier argument. like i am willing to ignore it i am willing to engage with the fantasy literally all you need to do is NOT try to convince me that Actually It's Fine Because They Want To Do It or whatever. like literally just shut up about it and i can engage with the fantasy!!

also. while i'm posting about the aftermath of s4 on the nyc crew. i totally get why people see oscar as spiraling hard after arthur's departure, and i agree that is a possible outcome, but what i really want is to see him take that very brief connection and pay it forward. the whole, "help others when you can't find a reason to help yourself" spiel that arthur gave him, let him use that as a motivator. like, maybe he wasn't able to save this one—but maybe he can save the next one. he's read enough of that bestiary to have a sense of what kinds of things are hiding in the dark corners of the world. and he's faced them! and he's come away—not unscathed, of course, certainly not unscathed, but alive. and even better, victorious. after so much pain and suffering, trying to help marie and her family but never knowing how, they did it. scratch is gone, along with its horrible crawly entourage. all it took was a little extra knowledge, a little bit of cleverness, a lot of courage. he's done it once. he can do it again.

maybe he's not gonna leave the church behind, but, i mean, st. jean-baptiste already serves mostly people who've fallen on hard times, who are being left behind by society. there's gotta be some more among their number who are haunted, or hunted, by something unknowable. and oscar starts to see them. he knows the look of someone whose understanding of the real and unreal has been challenged. and he starts to make it his mission to reach out to them, not because someone else comes along and charitably scoops him up and ropes him into monster-hunting, but because someone very dear once told him that he was good at helping, and that it was valuable, and important, and that it could be a reason to get up and put himself together in the mornings even when everything else felt pointless.

so he does. his community center gains a second life, as refuge for people stalked by demons and monsters and curses and the eyes of ancient gods. bc he may have lost what he thought was his purpose, but he's not going to insult his memory by just passively drinking it into oblivion. he's gonna honor it in the best way he can think of. by helping.

《 Glitch in the system or not- looks like this little mouse is in for a new kind of race. 》

《 Once a professional Airboard rider is now forced to enter a car race- she's had an interesting time adjusting to the change of equipment and rules. Caine was most scared she'd end up hurting herself- so he opted with giving her A Go Kart till she can get herself a proper racing vehicle. She did not enjoy her first race. 》

《 Needless to say- Her second race was certainly something when she pulled up in her little DIY vehicle. Color the other racers impressed. And a little afraid of what she's capable of..》

《 Ultimately- Against his better judgement- Caine just let her keep her board. Mostly to keep the little mechanical genius out of the workshop less she create something a bit more.. ambitious. She seems happy.

So, Talkative or not, this smart little inventor was definitely a lively addition to the racing roster. Who knows what kind of trouble this little powerhouse will get into this season?

it's a waste of an operative to axe him for retaining only half of his autonomy. yet he seems even more dangerous to be on your side to begin with, and you don't know what scares you more: that he puts up with this at all, or if he's compliant in the first place. it's a gamble whether that drug works, and he knows it. a guinea pig for control. an example for the rest. a weapon asking to be used. living evidence of a crime, and perfectly fine with it. his continued existence is his own leverage against the empire, he says, with a smile that drowns in the dark of his eyes.

Day 30 - Creation

Hound really enjoys crafting, mostly to maintain his gear, but building furniture has also been a great way to pass the time and keep his mind occupied. The forge is still his favorite though.
