leckie/runner 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
ohhhh my goddd !! makes sense and compels me 100%. when I first rewatched the pacific i was so confused as to why there weren't any more people shipping leckie and runner. they might have been my first hbo war ship actually? truth be told they're everything to me – the scene where they reunite after peleliu is one of the most heartbreaking of the show imo. i like to think of runner having this huge crush on leckie throughout the years and him simply not noticing because he thinks he's just joking around. (read to me daddy?)

For the Jacobs boys, nights at the lodging house are a rare treat.
They always start the same. One of the boys at the lodge would tell Les about a game they were playing, or an event that everyone was chipping in on. A birthday, most often; birthdays at the lodge were apparently a big deal, since it was the one joy some of these kids might have. The boys who could afford to would offer up a few pennies to buy something nice. A dime novel, maybe, for the boys who liked to read, but usually the gift would be as much candy as a few quarters could buy.
Les, ever the social butterfly, loves being a part of these nights, and always tells their parents at the dinner table. Esther usually allows him to donate a penny or two, especially if this birthday was for one of the littles or a boy around his age. It wasn’t always like this, of course; the first time Les asked to stay the night, it took a long discussion before Esther and Mayer agreed, and they only agreed if David would stay, too. It was a little easier to convince them the second time, and again for the third, and fourth, and fifth, and now the boys don’t even have to ask: if they have a free night with no work at home to be done, they can go, but only if Esther and Mayer know ahead of time.
Once Mayer is cleared to go back to work, though, nights like those are few and far between.
As promised, as soon as their father finds a new job that will be easier on his health, Les and David are back in the classroom, learning literature and arithmetic as though their summer hadn’t been taken over by the strike. David had considered it a miracle, and Les had dreaded it since the start, but school was in session and David finally had structure back in his life.
That was what was missing, right? Structure. A clear plan. No roadblocks, no mishaps— a guidebook to the rest of his life, one he had made up when he was far too young to worry about such things. To David, school is structure. School leads to college, and college leads to a career, and a career means that David can provide for his parents, and his eventual family, and he will never have to worry about not doing enough or not being good enough because he will be enough and things will work out in his favor.
School is structure, and structure is uninterrupted, until it is.
When Esther pulls David aside one morning before he’s supposed to walk to school, David feels his stomach drop. “David,” she starts, her voice ever soft, calm, “Dear, your father and I have been thinking.”
“About?”
“Your schooling. We know how important education is to you, but, darling… You’re a smart young man, so I’m going to be honest with you. With your father’s new job, we’re still struggling to make ends meet. It doesn’t pay as much as his old job, and—“
“Do you need me to stop going to school? So I can work?”
“Oh, dear, we would never ask that of you,” She assures him, gently cupping his cheeks. “You have a brilliant mind, son. You are going to do amazing things one day, I’m sure… I want you to understand that we- your father and I- hate asking this, but,” She pauses, and David can see her frown pinch like she’s in pain, like asking this is hurting her. David hates seeing this expression on his mother. She closes her eyes for a moment, then meets his gaze with a sad smile. “Would it be possible for you to go to school, then sell the evening edition? Just until we can get back on our feet?”
Against his better judgement, David says yes without even thinking it over.
His family needs him. He can manage this. He’ll still be in school, and he’ll be making money, and it doesn’t matter that he already comes home from school dead on his feet because he’s so tired, because this time he’s helping his family and doing something for himself to make something of himself, and isn’t that the point of all of this?
Besides, it works.
It works for three weeks, at least. For three weeks, Does it, no problem. He goes to school and rushes through work so there’s less to do at home, and he’s still getting good marks on most of his assignments. Once school is done, he walks Les to the halfway point between the tenement house and the lodging house, tells him to take his bookbag and put it next to the door, and to give Ima and Aba a big hug for him. He watches Les walk for about a minute or so, just to make sure he’s okay, and when Les rounds the corner of the block, David takes off like a shot to get to the lodge in time.
That’s his every-day for three weeks. He doesn’t make much money only selling one edition, but he’s helping- he can see that he is. His parents aren’t as stressed anymore, and he’s still getting an education and holding down a job, and surely that means something, even if he comes home from work late and misses dinner with his family often and rarely ever talks anymore because he heads right to bed after eating.
Three weeks, and Esther finally sits him down one Friday morning before school.
“David,” she says softly. “Why don’t you stay at the lodge tonight?”
David it’s his head, brows pinching together. “You’re sure?”
Esther nods, and squeezes his hand, something she’s done since he was a child. “I don’t want you having to worry about walking home so late, darling. Besides, you don’t have any school tomorrow, and you haven’t stayed over in a long time— I insist, really. Have some fun with your friends.”
“…Okay,” David says after a moment, nodding. “Okay, I can do that. I won’t have to get up so early for the morning paper tomorrow.”
“Skip it,” Esther say, and runs a hand through David’s hair. “Take a weekend off, baby. Please?”
“But—“
“But nothing,” She interrupts. She has that look on her face: a mother’s look of concern, one that says she knows he’s overworking himself, but it’s not like he can just stop now. “You’ve been such a big help, dear, but you’re still a kid. Have fun, and be with your friends. Don’t worry about work.”
And David knows she’s right. She almost took it back, saying that David could work and go to school, after the first week— David was the one who said that he was fine, that he’d keep it up until winter and see where they were financially. If they were well off, he would stop working after the winter holidays. If not, he would continue. Mayer had said it was a good idea. Good work ethic, his boy; that’s what Mayer brags about to coworkers, and that’s the praise that David keeps square in his chest. Good work ethic.
Good work ethic.
That being said, David is appreciative of being given the weekend to be a teenager again. Everyone has been asking when he’s going to stay over again, and he hasn’t had an answer for them, but now he’ll be able to have a good night again.
The evening headline is a good one, too. Something about some bigshot in Brooklyn being killed. David knows that Spot Conlon and her girls are going to have a field day with this one, that’s for sure, but David is just happy that it was a big enough of a deal to make Manhattan’s news too. The papes sell fast, and David gets to the lodge even faster. Walking through the doors, he’s immediately met with the familiar chaos, and it brings a smile to his face.
“Dave!”
The voice comes from his left, and before he’s able to turn, he’s wrapped in a hug by Racetrack. It only lasts a few seconds, but David laughs and rolls his eyes as Race shoves him almost immediately after.
“Where’ve you been?” Race says with a grin, raising a brow. “You ain’t been here in ages.”
“I just spoke to you an hour ago,” David reminds him. He had seen Race walking back to the lodging house while he was selling. From the looks of it, Race had been walking back from Brooklyn, so odds are that he had been selling across the bridge all day. “I’ve been busy with school, but I’m stayin’ here over the weekend.”
Race nods his head, that signature mischievous smirk reappearing on his face. “Ya don’t say,” He says, teasingly. “Y’know, Dave, Jack’s been throwin’ fits without you bein’ around here so often. You should go talk to him. Does he know you’re stayin’?”
“Not yet,” David replies, shaking his head. “Is he okay? Have I missed something?”
“Oh, no, he’s fine,” Race says quickly. He pulls his cigar out of his shirt pocket, then the lighter from his pants pocket; he offers them up to David, but David shakes his head again and Race nods to himself. “He’s just been missin’ you, I think. He ain’t ever gonna admit it, but…” He trails off, giving David a knowing look, and, yeah, okay.
Okay, maybe Jack and David have a thing going on. There’s nothing really there, not yet, but the chemistry is undeniable; David had at first assumed he was making it all up— he’s never really understood this romance thing— but then Race pointed it out one day, and since then, David has gone to him for every burning Jack Kelly issue his mind could think up. How he wants to kiss him, but he’s never kissed anyone, but Jack has kissed a lot of people so what if David isn’t anything special? Or how it’s unfair that Jack can look so good in nice, tailored clothes, since he has that big job at the World now, you know, so he has to look nice and it kind of drives David mad, and how—…
And how David hasn’t really been here in weeks. And how David has only been selling, then heading home immediately after selling his last paper. And how he can’t remember the last time he had a good conversation with Jack, who should probably hate him by now.
David takes a deep breath. “Where is he?”
Not even five minutes later, his hands land on the last rung of the ladder to the rooftop, and Jack Kelly is there in all his glory: laying on his back, basking in the August sun. Once David has both feet solidly on the roof, he sees Jack’s eyebrow quirk up, though his eyes never open. “Crutch? You good?”
David clears his throat. “Uh— Yeah, but I’m not Crutchie.”
Instantly, Jack sits up, eyes flying open. His look is nothing short of delighted, and he grunts as he pushes himself up to his feet. “Davey! What’re you doin’ here?”
An oddly chipper reaction, considering they haven’t actually talked in a while. Back over the summer, David and Jack were fast friends, and even faster… whatever they are now. They sold together nearly every day, played cards between editions, sat next to each other during every meal, talked for hours and hours on end without ever tiring. They were a package deal.
“I’m staying the night,” David says with a nervous smile, pushing down the thought of this is ruined and he hates me. “It’s been a while, so I figured I could come back for a bit, if that’s okay? I have enough to pay for a bunk, I just—“
“You’re kiddin’ me, right?” Jack asks, walking closer. “Dave, this might be one of the last nights we get on the rooftop ‘fore it gets too cold. You’re stayin’ up here, with me,” He says, and that smile— god, that smile— shines full force. “C’mon, sit down. How’s school been?”
David follows Jack’s lead, eventually sitting next to him on a pile of blankets near the outward corner of the roof. “It’s been alright,” David answers, leaning back and bracing himself on his palms. “I’m still no better in math, but grammar is kind of fun. My teacher thinks I’m ahead, though, whatever that means.”
“That’s good, though, right?” Jack nudges David gently with his elbow. “Means you can take it easy.”
“I guess,” David nods, and lets out a soft sigh. Taking the easy road, it’s never been David’s strong suit. He supposes Jack is right; he can take it a little easier in school and not push himself so hard, that way he can pace himself while selling. Maybe he wouldn’t be as tired then, but… “I don’t think so, though. I’d rather just get school over with so I can focus on working.”
Jack is quiet for a moment. David stares straight ahead, resting along the ledge behind him, until he feels Jack’s hand on his shoulder. “Dave,” He stares, tilting his head. “What’s goin’ on? I thought you loved school.”
“I mean, I do,” David says quickly, though he doesn’t meet Jack’s eyes. “I want to continue my education so I can be a- a doctor, or a business man, or something, but right now… My family needs me right now. If I go faster with school, then I can help them, and—“
“Is that really fair to you, though?”
The question stops David in his tracks. Is it? Not really, no, but then again, what is? If life was fair, his father wouldn’t have gotten hurt. If life was fair, his father wouldn’t even have been working in that damned place anyway, and instead he’d be rich and successful like he had always been working towards. If life as fair, David would be able to focus on school, and wouldn’t be mocked and ridiculed all day for working a job. David knows he’s better off than the rest of the newsies, but at school, it doesn’t feel like it. Most of David’s friends don’t even have to work a job. They get new shoes every year, too, instead of waiting until the old pair gets too small or falls apart. If they rip their clothing, they can mend it and make it look seamless, not patchy, or they just buy new clothing all together. David doesn’t have that luxury. Life isn’t that fair.
He takes a deep breath, then says: “No. It’s not.”
Jack nods. The silence between them is uncomfortable, but only until Jack gently slings his strong arm around David’s waist, pulling him closer. David sinks into his touch, letting himself relax, letting himself lose the rigid tension running along his spine.
“I wish I could help,” Jack says softly, and shifts, allowing David to lie back with his head against Jack’s chest. “But, hey… soon, you’ll be outta school, and you ain’t gonna have to worry about that anymore. Right?”
“Until I decide to go to university,” David amends, “but at this point, I don’t- I don’t know if I can afford to go. My teacher is telling me I should, but it’s going to cost $150… I don’t have that kind of money. None of us do. And- And maybe I could save it up, but not when all of my money is putting food on the table— I can’t just… focus on myself right now. I have a family to feed.”
Jack rubs circles against David’s hip with his thumb, and sighs. “You deserve the chance to focus on you, Davey…”
What breaks David’s heart is that he knows. He knows he does. But it’s not in the cards, not now. David stays silent for a long while, and Jack does too; they listen to the sounds of the city bustling beneath them, the boys’ laughter filtering out from an open window, music playing in the distance.
Neither of them say a word, until David sniffs, and wipes his eyes. “I- I know it’s selfish,” He starts, his voice barely above a whisper, “but I… I wish someone would just take care of me. I know that’s not- it doesn’t work like that. I know. I’m supposed to take care of everyone else, but it’s so fu-fucking hard to just… push myself to the side.” As he speaks, his voice catches, and the next thing he knows, he’s wrapped in both of Jack’s arms. Jack’s hand rubs his back, and David finally allows himself to let go. Not a sudden outburst, no; this is a gradual accumulation of tears until David’s shoulders shake, but he’s silent, because outbursts are unappealing and sadness should be polite.
Still, David finds Jack’s voice grounding him.
“I know, I know… Let it all out, Dave, you don’t gotta be strong right now. I’ve got you, I’ll take care of you… You’re safe to let it out.” And how Jack always knows exactly what to say, David will never know.
David will never know how Jack knows just how to hold him, just how to run his hands through his hair and just barely tug on the strands to reign him in. He’ll never know how Jack knows to kiss his temple, his forehead, his cheeks, all while squeezing his hand or wiping away his tears. He’ll never know how Jack knows that humming calms him down, whether it’s his mother’s Hebrew lullabies or the melody of one of Medda’s songs from the last show she put on.
What David does know, though, is that he’s safe, and he doesn’t have to shoulder the weight of the world. Not around Jack.
When David calms down, he’s still resting against Jack’s chest, letting out a few heaving sighs. “Thank you,” he whispers, tilting his head up to look Jack in the eyes. “I— I didn’t mean to cry, but… thank you.”
“You don’t gotta hide from me, Davey,” Jack murmurs back, tucking a strand of David’s hair behind his ears. “You don’t gotta explain yourself, either… When you’re here, my job is to take care of you, okay?”
“Jack, no—“
“I’m serious,” Jack cuts him off, raising a brow. “You got so much on your plate, and you know that. Right? … So let me help, wherever I can. I want to.”
David takes this in for a moment, before sighing softly and nodding. “Okay. I… I appreciate it.”
Jack smiles gently down at him. For a moment, they stare into each other’s eyes, and as soon as Jack cups David’s cheek, it’s all over. David leans up and Jack closes the gap, and the kiss is short, but sweet, and good, and right.
The weight of the world isn’t so heavy after that.

Hello, I saw your post about Brazilian OC because I'm researching to write one too. May I ask for tips please?
The premise of my story (the plan is maybe 15k-20k words) is about an American who moves to Brasil alongside his sister to restart a new life because of a dark past. He meets a 12-year-old girl whose perspective inspires him to face his past in the end.
I set the story in the Northen Brasil; more accurately, Rio Preto da Eva, Amazonas (long story on why but I got suggested to by a friend then I got attached to the place). Do you have any tips for me for portraying this little girl? Like her mixed race, her disposition, her family, her culture, food, her mannerisms, her body language, her English speech as a second language is like (she's bilingual just so they can communicate, maybe imperfect but fluent enough); how to show that she's Brazilian, basically? Not just a random kid in a random country that you can replace with another country and it will stay the same.
Thank you! I'm sorry if it's too much.
Hello! ^^ You can definitely ask for tips, and I'll help in any way I can. As a warning, this may be a bit rambly.
Firstly though, I'd like to say that I myself am not from the North, but from the North East, and there are a lot of cultural differences from here to there so I may not have advice as specific and as accurate as another person may give, but I'll give the tips I can. This is a somewhat long so I also put it under a cut :)
Now, moving on. I decided to divide this into topics so it's easier to understand:
Appearence (hair, clothing, etc.)
You ask about her race first. Amazonas is known for having the biggest amount of Indigenous communities from all the country (i fact checked that just to be sure), but the majority of people in there is also Parda [mixed black and white, you could translate that as Brown]. White people are at a minority of 24% of the population, following the <10% of Black people, so the Brown population is three times the white one. You may, ofc, chose whatever you want for her if you haven't already. Just throwing these statistics there in the case it might help.
If she's Brown, she probably will have coily hair, and she may wear it tied back or braided with a fun color, you decide. The climate in the North is mostly very warm and humid, so having her hair falling on her neck might be a bit uncomfortable so she probably wouldn't wear it loose unless it's for a special occasion or a party where she would want it super neat.
Ofc this changes from person to person, but at least in my city, girls with long hair tend to tie it for the most part and take especial care to leave it loose when they want it neater, since combing your hair with cream for it to look good loose takes a little bit more of work than just making it look nice in a ponytail or pigtails or a fancy bun. Short hair works differently and its more common to wear it loose, since there are less options for tying it and it's not as hot in your back and neck.
As a side note, she may also have straight hair. Girls her age sometimes like to straighten natural curly hair, or maybe she has indigenous ascendance if she's not indigenous herself and her hair is straight and her skin, dark.
Lots of girls also like to wear earrings and usually at twelve i don't see a lot of big ones so she may prefer to wear tiny ones, bracelets, etc.
An acessory you might also see is this one:
[ID: A toddler wearing a blue stripe turban, a bandana-like cloth on their hair, tied in a flower at the front. /end ID.]
For some reason I couldn't find an example of any older kid but it'll do lmao. This is a turban, or headscarf, that is common among women here and comes from African influence. We have the ones that cover more of the hair, and this one, which is more common for younger children, that has the shape of a stripe and has a stylized knot in the front. They can come in patterns or plain colors, like this. It's pretty cute, although not very popular amongst tweens and older teens, with some exceptions. The kid's ones usually come already tied and we call them tiaras.
Moving on to clothes, as the northern areas are very warm we usually wear tshirts, small dresses and short shorts or trousers. That is probably where the stereotype of Hot Skimpy Brazilian comes from (hand in hand with racism ofc). I notice that in colder countries people tend to layer up and wear long sleeves and pants in the summer but unless it's a party, an event or a particularly cold day that's really unusual here. Bc of the warmth, leggings and crop tops are super popular too.
Patterns are also really really common, not just in shirts but in dresses and shorts as well. That's also from African heritage.
Though I am pretty sure that patterned, long skirts are very common in Amazonas. You may want to research this one a bit more.
Accent
You also note that she speaks English, and I don't know exactly how the subject is in schools there, but in my area we learn English in a very basic and very simple range, especially at her grade. I'd say it's very unlikely that she'd have learned it there, but there's always exceptions though! If she didn't learn it in school, however, the most common way to learn it is by engaging in content in English. I learned it by engaging with the PJO fandom that is mostly in the US, for example, and my cousin learned it by playing pirated Pokemón that he couldn't get in Portuguese. Maybe she loves subtitled shows and learned there!
I'm not sure about her accent bc I'm not generally good at pointing them out, but a few things in her native language that may influence it are that, in Portuguese, vowels are a little bit more open most of the time, and she may also have trouble spelling the r in the way you do, and will probably acentuate it to compensate (my little sister does that) or switch it to a french r or a spanish r (if you've heard French or Spanish you may know what I'm talking about). She probably also speaks a little slower or accentuating each syllabe to make sure she's speaking right.
She may also just make some sounds completely wrongly, like spelling the S as a Z sometimes, like "azexual" (in portuguese when the S is between two vowels it has the sound of Z), pronounce X as "CS" or "SH" like Asecsual (asexual) or Eshtra (extra) or accentuate the Ts at the end of a word, something native anglophones tend to set aside for the most part, I've noticed.
School (coz I think that this might appear sometime, if your story doesn't take place in summer break)
A thing I'd like to note is that schools in Brazil work very differently than in the US.
Firstly, the "grades": We call them Years and they are divided in three parts: Fundamental School I [Ensino Fundamental I], Fundamental School II [Ensino Fundamental II] and Highschool. Before all of that, optionally we also have preschool or "childhood garden" or just daycare, that we also refer to as alphabetization.
F. I or E.F. I -- from 6 to 10yo. Here we have 1st year, 2nd year, etc allup to 5th year. Kids learn the basics and may or may not get in already knowing how to read and write.
F. II or E.F. II -- from 11yo to 14yo. Here we start from 6th year and go up till 9th
Highschool -- You know this one. Three years, called 1st, 2nd and 3rd year. A literal translation of its name would be Middle School. (Ensino Médio.)
We don't have homeschooling, and by law kids are obliged to attend school as soon as they are old enough to.
Schools here also have a pretty big difference from public to private that idk if you have in there.
Private schools are owned by individuals and Public schools are owned and funded by the government, as you probably know. All schools in Brazil also have uniforms.
Each private school has their own particular uniform, and you have to pay for your child's subscription, uniform, materials and snacks.
Public schools are divided in two categories: State schools and Municipal schools. State schools are owned by the state, and municipal schools are owned by the city. The state and the city all have separate uniforms, so every municipal school from a city is going to have a shared uniform, and every state school from a given state is going to share a uniform too. In public schools, the subscription is paid by taxes, and so are the uniform and food; you just have to pay for your personal material, not including books, that are provided by the school, and any school outings your child may attend to.
I took the liberty to take a look into the Amazonense public uniform and the uniform from the city you choose too:
[ID: A bunch of students wearing jeans or black pants and a white shirt with a green and yellow arc at the bottom, and a small crest on the chest. /end ID.]
^ Amazonense State Uniform
[ID: A little kid wearing black trousers and a white t-shirt, both with an orange crest. /end ID.]
^ Rio Preto da Eva Municipal uniform.
As you can see, the uniforms usually consist in trousers or shorts for younger kids or pants for the older ones and a plain shirt with the school, state or city simble. Unlike other countries, where the (girl's) uniform usually consists of some kind of skirt, the uniforms here are the same regardless of gender and come in some different sizes (Small, Medium, Big and Big-Big). Private schools also follow this model.
In Municipal Schools you usually get both the shorts and shirt by the school, and in State Schools you just get the shirt and can wear whatever pants you want, but following a dress code (usually it's "jeans or black or dark blue pants and closed shoes" and trousers are only allowed if they're a certain lenght, but maybe Amazonas has another code I'm not aware of)
Another difference from State and Municipal schools is also the offered curriculum. Fundamental I, sometimes II, is offered in Municipal schools, and highschool and Fundamental II are offered in State schools. Some schools may not follow this rule and have more or less stages.
And also the school year is a bit different: The year starts in the beggining of February, then there is a starting weekbreak for Carnaval, then the classes start for real. The year goes on till July where we get around 15 days off, then the classes come back and end at the start of December. This may change a little depending on the school's jurisdiction (Private, State or Municipal).
Schools also work in turns: Morning "Matutino" (7 to 11AM) and Afternoon "Vespertino" (1 to 5PM) or Full-Day "Integral" (7AM to 5PM or earlier). Most Municipal Schools as far as I know are morning + afternoon.
And lastly, as a side note, some medical services in Brazil are also public and free, like the SUS (unique health system), where your insurance is paid by taxes so you don't pay for it unless the service costs more than what your plan allows for.
Food
Now about food, I'm not completely familiarized with culinary from the North, but we share some dishes in common and I also did a quick search. So we have:
Lots of fish -- the Amazonas is cut by a lot of big rivers so fish is very important to the culinary
Cupuaçu -- a tropical fruit that gets delicious in ice cream
Açaí (another fruit you can make great ice cream with) with beans. Half of the people like it and the rest claim it tastes like mud.
Maniçoba -- a dark soup made of cooked cassava leaves and meat basically
Muqueca -- a kind of fish soup
Pirão -- it has the texture of mashed potatoes and it's made of cassava flour cooked in fish broth
Fried banana - you cut up banana in slices and fry them in the pan till they go gold and it's very sweet, crusty and delitious tbh. Some people put it in couscous
A lot of fruit juice, like guaraná, cupuaçu, graviola and any other fruit you can find in there
Beiju -- beiju is a sort of flour you prepare like pancakes (rolled up pankakes, that is) and they are crispy and you usually put salty toppings like chicken and cheese in there. some people like it alone though
Pão de queijo -- technically "cheese bread" but it's a completely different kind of cheese bread. it is very small and round and also crusty
You can search for more of the food but this should give you an idea.
For table manners, at least where I am from, idk about Amazonas, it's considered rude by some people to support your elbows on the table, and by most it's also considered rude to speak while your mouth is full.
Family and other details
I'm not sure how family would be very different and idk much about family in Amazonas but where l live specifically (northeast) I've seen these elements in families very commonly
single mom (usually black and poor)
a dad or grandfather with a lot of abandoned children with many different woman so you may have 7 unknown siblings/uncles
idk about other areas but here we greet our older relatives by 'asking bless' (pedindo a benção or just bença)
I am not really aware of mannerism differences but I can give you a silly list of swear words because 12 is just the age kids are really sweary and I think she could literally translate some of these by accident and some don'r rlly work in english but here they are:
Desgraçado - disgraced. Medium swearing
Miserável - miserable. Light swearing
Filho da puta - son of a bitch. you know this one. Can be very heavy or very playful
Filho da mãe - son of a mother. Heavy swearing
Filho da égua - son of a (female) horse. Medium swearing
Seu cu - your ass. Light to medium swearing.
Tomar no cu - go take it up your ass. Light swearing but can be heavier depending on circumstance.
Seu porra - the only translation i can think for "porra" is cum but it can also mean fuck. this one is calling someone a porra. a bastard in this context. light to medium swearing
Porra
Foda - can mean fuck, can mean shit, can mean badass, can mean 'it sucks', can mean 'hella cool' and really really depends. light swearing when it's used like that
Caralho - i am not sure how to translate this one. it's usually a term for when things suck. or are very cool.
Rapariga - calling someone a bitch lightheartedly. light swearing
Viado - faggot. can be very heavy or very playful
Quenga - similar to rapariga but more agressive
Desgraça - disgrace. usually to express frustration. medium swearing
Portuguese has a lot of curse expressions actually.
Some other things that may be worth noting are:
Most brazilians, unless they're very wealthy, don't have dishwashers. Or drying machines for that matter. Since it's hotter here we mostly dry up things in the sun. We use strings for that or just hang them up the wall at the back of the house.
Some brands we refer to when we mean certain products (but this one may not apply to Amazonas): Maizena (corn starch), cotonete (cotton swab), QBoa (bleach), Veja (disinfectant), Nikito (a brand of stuffed cookie), Springles (you have that one too), Play-Doh (play dough), Amoeba (a weird slime toy) and Oreo
'Gringo' is a word that means foreigner. If you're not from here, u a gringo
Your character may struggle to use 'it' to refer to some objects, because in portuguese we don't have it as a pronoun. Objects are either he or she so your girl is probably gonna call the table a she and the car a he a lot of the time. I do that too sometimes.
Very specific anime thing if she likes anime: there's a culture here that if you watch dubbed anime instead of subtitled ur a loser. it's silly but it exists.
If she's twelve she probably grew up watching Sítio do Pica-Pau Amarelo. It's a child's cartoon based off a classic child's author work, Monteiro Lobato. And she probably read Turma da Mônica as a child (the comic books ever)
She also prob watches a lot of dramas. They usually air in channels like Globo or SBT. Three very popular and classic ones are Chiquititas (a show about a bunch of children from an orphanage and one of them was the secret heir of some rich guy idk. my sister loves it), Carrossel (i don't watch novellas but i know there's a school and a black boy and this racist girl. it's also a meme) and Chaves. Some more recent ones are Romeu e Julieta and As Aventuras de Pollyanna.
We tipically use the 24 hours format so if your mc can't understand that he'll probably confuse himself a lot
"Meia" (half/middle) usually refers to the number six, when we're talking about phone numbers. That's because three and six sound way too similar and you may confuse them up so to avoid that we replace six with meia
A dozen and half a dozen are also used a lot, like when you go get groceries and eggs, idk about other countries
Vasco -- vasco is a soccer team that is a meme because they Always Lose. We have the expression "went vasco" to express someone got fucked over
She will probably refer to soccer as football when speaking english bc in portuguese, soccer is "futebol". Depending on her personality she may refure to correct herself
The girl almost definitely cheers for a soccer team. I know few people who don't cheer for a soccer team.
Talking about soccer, another team that is a meme is Flamengo. Bc they don't ever win a "world" medal. Idk much about soccer but a world medal or a mundial is a class of tournaments?
Soccer is a big thing here. We cancell classes when the soccer world cup is near.
Now for your last line--how to show that she's brazilian. I'm not really skilled in showing different nationalities in writing, but I think that the most effective tool you could use is the cultural difference. How do things work differently here in opposed to there? What is your usamerican character used to or not used to, what does he have to adapt to? What does the girl think your character should know, or be used to, when he isn't? What are the things your character prides herself for in her culture (like soccer or the food bc of the meme of Bad USamerican Food)?
Anyways, this is a really wide topic but I hope I have been able to shed a little light or offer some guidance. If anybody who sees this is from Amazonas, your insight could be helpful too!
Good luck with your story, anon!
#this is VERY long sorry#and tx for waiting!#damn i rlly managed to finish my stuff today thank god#asks#anon#brazilian characters#brazil#writing advice#character tips#amazonas anon

how I actually think (Mech Cadets) season two will go
keep in mind I have not read the comics at all.
Okay, so I’m going to assume we’re following three characters specifically—
Ava, Stanford, and Olivia.
Now, Ava’s gonna be a wildcard for season 2. The writers either have some elaborate conspiracy for her to uncover or nothing at all for her. I’m thinking she ends up transitioning to a different base, and getting an internship there instead of sticking around sky corps. Now the only base I can think of her ending up in is General Felix’s. General Felix is a character mentioned in the phone call of Dr. Miller (the scientist who died in episodes 3/4) She’s the one who gives him the order to go against General Park’s orders of killing the sharg eggs. According to the phone call, she seems to be interested in weaponizing shargs and their dna or whatever.
Now, I don’t know what this really means, but a part of me is doubting it’s anything good. And if anyone can uncover the secrets of a shady General, it’s Ava ‘doesn’t know what an L is’ Patel.
I also think we’re meeting the rest of the ‘First Five’ that is mentioned in the concept art for mech cadets. Tanaka is the ace pilot of the first five.
Now, Stan and the gang. I… honestly don’t know what their plan is to find Olivia. Maybe Buddy’s teleporting powers play a big part in it, I’m not sure. They seem a bit too confident that they can find Olivia… who got lost in space… which is like… infinite.
Olivia went offline the moment she disappeared through the black hole, so I’m doubting they have any means of tracking her. Why General Park, a freaking General who has to deal with a military base or whatever, left to go find her? Idk, maybe he left sky corps and all the other damage dealt by the shargs under Sargent Sanchie’s care or something.
anyway, it’s more likely than not that they’ll just bulldoze through space until they find a single clue as to where Olivia might be. Who, mind you, COULD BE DEAD. Just saying. I know she’s not but geez you guys, what on earth has she endured to make you think ‘yeah she def survived that’???
They’ll eventually find out whatever planet or whatever dimension she’s in, but then the rest of the search will involve them trying to find out where exactly she is in this new world. I’m sure there will be plenty of problems and mishaps along the way, if General Park being there means anything. Stanford will probably struggle with the guilt of the choice he had to ‘close the black hole or not.’ This will inevitably create some tension between him and Park. Tanaka and Park will also have their own problems with each other, I’m sure. Maybe, maybe not. Veritas is bound to be brought up again, tho, am I right?
I am not sure if they will actually find her within season 2. Assuming season 2 will have 10 episodes like season one, we have three episodes of run time to give each perspective, then one last one to wrap it all up. I honestly kind of doubt they’ll find her within this amount of time. Sure, time skips can and probably will happen, but I feel like they wouldn’t. Maybe at the very end, like at the end of episode 10 they’ll be like, “oh jeepers gang I think we might actually know where Olivia is at and then roll credits.
Now, Olivia. There is so many possibilities as to who the person in the void was. Let’s call them ‘Silhouette’ because that’s literally all they are right now. Is it human? A robo? And if it’s a robo, are they friendly or not? Will they bond with Olivia? What about Hero Force? Bro just protected Olivia from dying in the black hole, refused to elaborate further and freaking evaporated. W hero force fr.
Silhouette is also a wildcard. They can be friendly. Straight up antagonistic. A mixture of both, where they try to trick Olivia into thinking they’re an ‘ally’ and then go SIKE. I’m guessing Olivia will end up sticking around this person/alien/robo/SHARG?!?!(whether willingly or not), until her inevitable escape or departure, being forced to survive in this strange world alone. (What the hell she gonna eat?? Shargs???)
now, I’m just going to put it out there and say that I think Olivia ended up wherever the Robos are from. I’m betting a lot of y’all are thinking the same. Who knows, maybe it’s not just where the Robos are from, but the Shargs too. And Robos sort of lose memory of where they’re from, because otherwise, humans would’ve already discovered the place that Robos are from, right?
who knows, maybe Silhouette is a long lost pilot who discovered where the Robos resided and either stuck around or got trapped there, either by circumstance or by the Robos themselves. And before anyone says anything, no, I do not think it’s Charlie (Olivia’s mom). My girl has a whole grave. Unless they buried an empty box, idk how that could be Charlie.
Anyway, I doubt that Olivia will have an easy time, whatever Silhouette’s intentions may be. Doubting this world she ended up in is ‘human friendly’ and I’m sure hoping it’s not. Give me the trauma. She’ll probably uncover not only the origins of the Shargs themselves, but also figure out the real reason the Robos went out of their way to ‘save humanity’.
Does anyone else find it just a little suspicious that an alien race is compatible and are able to bond on such a high psychological level with HUMANS of all things? Like that’s hella sus. I have no doubt this is one of the reasons that General Park justifies his murder of Veritas— he’s highly suspicious of Robos as a whole. Meanwhile, everyone else are ‘robo loyalists’ as he put it.
But by no means am I suggesting that Buddy and the other Robos are secretly evil. Just that they are pawns in a much larger game played by the creators of the robos themselves.
And shargs are hella smart for some reason. And have wings. Which isn’t terrifying at all.
ooooh maybe we’ll get some bonding between the sharg queen and Olivia 🥰🥰🥰 after all, if Liv survived that, surely did the queen as well, right? (Aka Olivia gets the mother she never asked for nor wanted)
now, to bonus stuff:
We’re getting new characters, obviously. Javi, Maya’s little brother, has to be one of them. But, I don’t think Maya will be around to see him join Sky Corps or whatever base he’ll end up in. Maybe he’ll join in Ava’s ‘taking down shady goofs in power plot. I think (hope) we’ll see more Adam Williams, Chief Max and even Chief Clark. I’m definitely hoping we see General Felix. I literally know nothing about her other than her interest in weaponizing shargs, but the mere idea of her has me hella hyped. Maybe she’s one of the ‘first five’ I mentioned earlier.
Hoping we expand the background cast and see more pilots, such as Claire Olivetti and the pilot of Veritas, Valle. I mean, can you imagine an interaction between him and Ava? She’ll be like, ‘yeah bro your General betrayed you and killed your robo’ and he’ll be like ‘damn.’ And, if we see him, we’ll see the real effects of being torn away from your robo like that. Hoping we get to see more of Max’s past too, since she also had a robo who died. (Mariposa)
And flashbacks. Idk if it will be like the 2d ones from seasons 1 or not, but the concept art shows a 3d model of a younger Tanaka so…. Anyway, we’ll probably get Charlie flashbacks, First Sharg War flashbacks (aka teenage Tanaka, Gen. Park and Charlie getting traumatized), and younger Stanford and/or Olivia.
Desperate for more skatergirl2000 and Moppington Jr pls 🙏🙏🙏

THE BATMOBILE HAS LOST ITS WHEELS (speaking of i need to read this one again i love it so much)
I'm so glad you love it!! Tho I don't ever really think I'll finish it. But I can tell you how the middle and end would go.
Chapter 4: they go to the batcave, which Wayne manor is owned by Alfred, whole also lives in Birmingham, and from there Bruce gets Jason cleaned up, and explains that he knows about the situation. Jason defends himself, he's not a snitch.
Bruce says that he knows but that doesn't change the fact that everyone is looking for him for that. And then Bruce gives him an out, he can find a way for him to be fostered with him, under a new name and he can go to school and heal and he can decided what h wants to do when his leg is healed.
Jason says he’ll think about it and Bruce lets him sleep. He thinks and thinks it seems like Bruce means him no harm, he's batman, and bruce wayne, who’d a thunk that.
As jason sleeps, Bruce is having a hard time being back in the cave, and tries to push out the thoughts that he's not batman anymore and that dick isn't there.
So he sleeps too, back in his old chair.
Jason is the one to wake him up, as he hobbles to Bruce and pokes him and he starles harshly. He says that he’ll come with him, only if he gets to go to school.
Bruce smiles slightly.
The drive back is quiet and awkward, but they leave gotham and Bruce watches Jason watch the Gotham skyline get smaller behind them.
Cut to Tim, he’s out taking pictures of the manor, he likes to do that when he’s anxious, and he sees Bruce leave with Jason. Now he knows that Batman is alive. He takes a picture of the license plate of Bruce's truck.
Chapter 5: They get back to Bruce’s new house in the woods and Alfred has already set up the room. They all talk about guidelines and rules, Alfed makes dinner and it's a little less awkward than the car ride.
Alfred has already got materials for him to get ready to start 8th grade in the fall. His birthday is right at the cut off. They have the whole spring and summer to get him ready.
The rest: So Jason is falling into a rhythm there and he is bored but Bruce starts to bringing him books and they have his ID set up so he goes to school as Bruces 'cousin'
Now Tim finds them and gets caught stalking them (he's been talking the bus/ubers) out in the boonies but he keeps coming back and they just kinda keep him when his parents are out of the country.
Jason and Tim become fast friends and months and months go by and life is alright, Bruce thinks of him as his boys. They bring up Robin a couple of times.
Anyway cut to like a year later, Barbra finds the tires at an auction and tells Bruce so everyone goes back to Gotham for a little trip and he buys the tires.
But the joker who killed Dick is watching and follows them and then tries to reenact what happened with Dick. But Jason gets loose and beats Joker to death with his tire iron, partly so he doesn't hurt his newfound family and partly to get revenge for Dick, even tho he had only met him once.
After that Alfred says he's clean it all up and tells Bruce to run to a safe house with his boys and so they drive having to start all over again. (They just kinda steal Tim)
the chapter bits are below the cut
Everything came back in small pieces laid out over blurry vision. Except the pain, which hit him like a truck.
Jason sucked in a breath, and more things came into focus. The ceiling, if you could call it that, was stone stories above him, as if he were in some cave.
It took a couple of moments to realize he was in a cave.
Adrenaline was the only reason he was able to sit up and look around, which confirmed further that he was in a cave, a cave with high tech equipment and huge computer monitors. In a black swivel chair sat a man.
The day's events came back to Jason full force.
The man was Batman. Alive. Real. And apparently very asleep if the closed eyes and the deep breaths were anything to go by.
Jason could take this opportunity to run, but with his fucked up leg, he couldn't get far. The last time he had broken his leg, thanks to dear old dad, it had taken eight weeks to even get the cast off. Eight weeks of crutches and hopping around, at least he had his mom to lean on sometimes.
And he had been stabbed on top of that.
“You're awake.” a deep voice broke the silence of the cave.
“So are you now.” Jason said and tried to not let fear leak out into his reply.
With the help of the cane, Batman pushed himself up and walked over to his bedside.
Jason was keenly aware he didn't have a weapon. The fear must have been obvious as Batman again dropped a knife into Jason’s lap.
“It's yours now.”
Jason didn't need to be told twice, the hilt in his hand steadied his breathing.
“How did you know I was Batman?”
Jason should have expected this question, no one knew Batman’s face and how
“Your teeth were too white and straight to be from the area
“You broke your leg pretty bad. Dr. Thomkins was able to fix you up though.”
“You said-”
“She came here, she’s not gonna tell.”
Jason knew this. He had been to Dr. Thomkins too many times over the year, most everyone in Crime Alley had. She was one of the only universally trusted figures there, she helped people, every single one.
The woman from yesterday must have been her then, the blurry figure in his memory did look like her.
“I know what the police are trying to do to you.” Batman said as he watched the monitors Jason was hooked up too. “It isn't right.”
Of course Batman knew that. “Yeah so it isn't right, they do that shit all the time.”
“Language.”
Jason rolled his eyes. “What does it matter? That if I snitch for real to the police that I’ll still be shipped off to a foster home, if I live long enough for that to happen. Both of those options are no-gos.” the more he talked the more angry he became. “I’m not the first and I won’t be the last.”
“That’s why I wanna offer you a chance to have a foster home outside of Gotham. I can get you into good ones, with a new name, away from the gangs and police.”
“No!” Jason snapped, raising his knife in threat, even if it visibly shook. “No more foster homes!” He had gotten lucky with the Dick Grayson Orphanage, but luck was never on his side.
Batman studied him, still not bothered by someone pointing a knife at him.
“Another option is that you can stay with me then.”
Jason blinked, that was the last thing he had thought would happen. “What-Why?”
“You need help.”
“I don’t!”
Unfazed, Batman continued. “You’d get a new identity, away from all this. You’d get to go to school again, be a kid.”
“Not a kid.” Jason hissed, still trying to comprend what the fuck Batman was going on about.
“Think about it. We can find other options too. Dr. Thompkins will come and check on you in a couple of hours.”
Those couple of hours were filled with tense silences, only interrupted by the MRE’s eaten between them. Jason couldn’t even relax as he scarfed down the beef ravioli and the rest of the meal, thank god that it had been sealed being opened or else he would have refused. The knife never left Jason’s side.
Batman’s words bounced around his mind, it couldn’t be that simple.
Finally Dr. Thompkins walked down the winding stairs, and Jason let out a breath of relief. Her and Batman talked for a bit, out of earshot and backs turned, but when the doctor turned she smiled at him.
“Jason, it's good to see you awake.” She said as she came up to his bedside. “You’ve really got yourself in quite the predicament.” it wasn’t quite scolding but it brought back memories of her making him take his shots.
Jason shrugged his shoulders.
“Batman, you don’t need to be here for this conversation.” She waved her hand and Batman actually listened, making himself scarce. Jason hadn’t realized she had that kinda power, it was kinda awesome she could just dismiss Batman.
“Broken nose in multiple places, broken leg, a stab wound. Jason, you almost died from blood loss. You're lucky I knew your blood type already and had a transfusion ready.”
“It wasn't even that much blood!”
She shot him a look which shut him right up, “Anyways, I’m going to do some tests.”
A nagging question slipped out of Jason's mouth as Dr. Thomkins checked over her handiwork on his broken nose. “Is Batman a good person? Can I trust him?”
“Yes.” Dr. Thomkins said without hesitation. “I’ve known him since he was a child, just like you. He always tries to do what he thinks is right, for no other reason other than it is right.”
“Like dressing up in a bat suit and beating up criminals?” Jason snickered, imagining a child Batman with a too big costume, eyepatch and all.
“Even that. I didn't say anything about being…unconventional. Batman does want to help you, because that's the right thing to do.”
Pursing his lips, Jason thought of Dr. Thomkins words.
“He told me what he offered you.”
Surprised, Jason studied her face. “He did?”
“He did. He did that for his previous ward, more or less.”
Robin died though, probably by the same thing that fucked up half of Batman’s bodywent unsaid “Does he really mean that I would be able to go back to school?” tentative hope slipped through into his tone.
Dr. Thomkins smiles softly. “Yes. You deserve to go back to school Jason. You deserve a second chance.”
Jason didn’t reply, only ghosting his fingers over the blade in his hand.
The rest of her visit was thoughtfully silent.
Tim liked to photograph Wayne Manor. It was as if he could pretend that Batman and Robin were alive and well. Maybe they’d be getting ready for patrol, looking over evidence together, or eating a snack. Normal, not dead things.
So that was why Tim found himself sneaking onto his neighbors property, ignoring that it was private property and that it was a school night. He had taken this route through the woods a number of times, he obviously wasn't just gonna walk up the driveway.
A black pickup truck, a newer model, sat next to a cave entrance. It was too clean to have been left there for long periods of time. The tread marks were deep with speed and more importantly new.
Tim made sure to stay hidden in the trees, as he took a picture of the license plate. This was gonna be so exciting for him, like a real stakeout, like a real detective.
Hours went by but Tim stayed strong. Batman would’ve stayed, and so would Tim.
Finally someone was coming. Two someones, to be more exact. Both hobbling through the shadows till they came out of the entrance, a child on a pair of crutches and a tall scarred man with a cane.
Tim took a lot of pictures for evidence. Who was this man, he was so familiar, but it was hard to tell anything with the scars. The boy at least was a total mystery, (a mystery with a broken nose and foot if the cast and gauze were anything to go by.)
They loaded themselves into the truck without saying a word, and the man turned the truck around tightly and left the way they came.
Tim smiled to himself, as he flipped through the pictures, zooming in on the man's face. His scar side had been facing Tim most of the time. One photo though, has his face turned slightly, enough to see his one blue eye.
Tim tried to not to hyperventilate, as he stared harder at the pixels. The bridge of the nose was the same, the eyebrow, the jawline; everything.
That was Bruce Wayne.
Batman.
Alive.
Tim promptly burst into happy tears, and quickly wiped them even if there was no one around to see. A big grew on his face as he stood up.
He had a license plate to run.
“He’s not spooky, you're just a pu- uh…scaredy-cat.”

Rowling isn't denying holocaust. She just pointed out that burning of transgender health books is a lie as that form of cosmetic surgery didn't exist. But of course you knew that already, didn't you?
I was thinking I'd probably see one of you! You're wrong :) Let's review the history a bit, shall we?
In this case, what we're talking about is the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft, or in English, The Institute of Sexology. This Institute was founded and headed by a gay Jewish sexologist named Magnus Hirschfeld. It was founded in July of 1919 as the first sexology research clinic in the world, and was run as a private, non-profit clinic. Hirschfeld and the researchers who worked there would give out consultations, medical advice, and even treatments for free to their poorer clientele, as well as give thousands of lectures and build a unique library full of books on gender, sexuality, and eroticism. Of course, being a gay man, Hirschfeld focused a lot on the gay community and proving that homosexuality was natural and could not be "cured".
Hirschfeld was unique in his time because he believed that nobody's gender was either one or the other. Rather, he contended that everyone is a mixture of both male and female, with every individual having their own unique mix of traits.
This leads into the Institute's work with transgender patients. Hirschfeld was actually the one to coin the term "transsexual" in 1923, though this word didn't become popular phrasing until 30 years later when Harry Benjamin began expanding his research (I'll just be shortening it to trans for this brief overview.) For the Institute, their revolutionary work with gay men eventually began to attract other members of the LGBTA+, including of course trans people.
Contrary to what Anon says, sex reassignment surgery was first tested in 1912. It'd already being used on humans throughout Europe during the 1920's by the time a doctor at the Institute named Ludwig Levy-Lenz began performing it on patients in 1931. Hirschfeld was at first opposed, but he came around quickly because it lowered the rate of suicide among their trans patients. Not only was reassignment performed at the Institute, but both facial feminization and facial masculization surgery were also done.
The Institute employed some of these patients, gave them therapy to help with other issues, even gave some of the mentioned surgeries for free to this who could not afford it! They spoke out on their behalf to the public, even getting Berlin police to help them create "transvestite passes" to allow people to dress however they wanted without the threat of being arrested. They worked together to fight the law, including trying to strike down Paragraph 175, which made it illegal to be homosexual. The picture below is from their holiday party, Magnus Hirschfeld being the gentleman on the right with the fabulous mustache. Many of the other people in this photo are transgender.
[Image ID: A black and white photo of a group of people. Some are smiling at the camera, others have serious expressions. Either way, they all seem to be happy. On the right side, an older gentleman in glasses- Magnus Hirschfeld- is sitting. He has short hair and a bushy mustache. He is resting one hand on the shoulder of the person in front of him. His other hand is being held by a person to his left. Another person to his right is holding his shoulder.]
There was always push back against the Institute, especially from conservatives who saw all of this as a bad thing. But conservatism can't stop progress without destroying it. They weren't willing to go that far for a good while. It all ended in March of 1933, when a new Chancellor was elected. The Nazis did not like homosexuals for several reasons. Chief among them, we break the boundaries of "normal" society. Shortly after the election, on May 6th, the book burnings began. The Jewish, gay, and obviously liberal Magnus Hirschfeld and his library of boundary-breaking literature was one of the very first targets. Thankfully, Hirschfeld was spared by virtue of being in Paris at the time (he would die in 1935, before the Nazis were able to invade France). His library wasn't so lucky.
This famous picture of the book burnings was taken after the Institute of Sexology had been raided. That's their books. Literature on so much about sexuality, eroticism, and gender, yes including their new work on trans people. This is the trans community's Alexandria. We're incredibly lucky that enough of it survived for Harry Benjamin and everyone who came after him was able to build on the Institute's work.
[Image ID: A black and white photo of the May Nazi book burning of the Institute of Sexology's library. A soldier, back facing the camera, is throwing a stack of books into the fire. In the background of the right side, a crowd is watching.]
As the Holocaust went on, the homosexuals of Germany became a targeted group. This did include transgender people, no matter what you say. To deny this reality is Holocaust denial. JK Rowling and everyone else who tries to pretend like this isn't reality is participating in that evil. You're agreeing with the Nazis.
But of course, you knew that already, didn't you?
Edit: Added image IDs. I apologize to those using screen readers for forgetting them. Please reblog this version instead.
#transgender#trans history#transsexual#transphobia#Magnus Hirschfeld#holocaust#holocaust denial#book burning#j.k. rowling#jk rowling#just in case you missed what i mean by all this: go fuck yourself anon :)#trans people have always existed#and we will always exist#if you really wanna pick a fight with me over well-documented history then you better bring in some sources to back your shit#queer history#queer#lgbt+#lgbta+#lgbt#lgbt history#edit: i finally got around to those damn image IDs. i am so very sorry for totally forgetting that's my bimbo moment of the month#also real quick i thought about adding an image of the actual building but the only one i can find has a Nazi parade in front of it#it was taken the day of the book burning raid and honestly if i were to include it then i'd add it to the first few paragraphs#and i think the story's better told when you uphold the hope Magnus Hirschfeld and all the researchers he worked with had#also keeps being brought up: yes Hirschfeld was a eugenicist. it was a popular belief set that was only discredited after WW2#Hirschfeld died in 1935. he literally didn't live long enough to see science turn against those beliefs and practices#considering how he changed his mind on transitions i like to think he would've changed his mind on eugenics too if he'd lived

Keeper -- a short comic about an angel meeting a robotic lighthouse keeper that doesn't know the world has already ended. Made in about 18 hours for a 24-hour 24-page* black and white comic challenge (that I arrived late to, ha.)
*the actual submission does not include the cover, which was created after the fact for this post.
This was a really great learning experience as someone who's... never really made a completed comic. I ended up really attached to the story by the end of the project (possibly due to all-nighter deliriousness lol) and ultimately am very proud of what I made. There are some things I'd still like to change, particularly text placement, but in keeping with the spirit of the challenge I've elected to leave it as is.
#sparks art#comic#angel#robot#my art#my comics#keeper: the angel#keeper: the lighthouse keeper#my ocs#hoogh. this was a grind yall lmao. but i am pleased with it#i hope you enjoy  also keep your fingers crossed for me that this wins the contest#like it. it wont. because i am up against actual SEQA kids that know what theyre doing. and i dont actually mind really#but it would be funny#long post#very long post#sorry#i hope the readmore works

Some rather unlucky investments have landed you in a tad of debt. However, you have know of a way to get out of it that requires very little work on your part.
The "Pussy Portal" company are always hiring after all.
All you have to do is have a portal directly connected to your pussy that any paying customer can use at any time. What could go wrong?
Just realized u didn't actually say it had to be monsterfucking specifically but I made it that anyway lmao.
At least you thought it was going to be very little work on your part.
But now you're not so sure as you sit on the train ride home trying to act like there isn't a monster cock reaching deep in your cunt.
You curse yourself for not reading the terms and conditions of the contract properly. You thought they were just being hyperbolic when they said "Prime Pussy Anywhere, Anytime!" Surely they would have down times right?
No. There are no down times unless you call in a sick day of which you only have few. You shoulda known that pay was too good to be true.
At least whoever's using your portal seems to only be cockwarming themselves for the time being, although that could change at any moment. Every jerk of the train makes you tense up as you try and act as nonchalant as possible. The cock sits so snug and warm inside you, it twitches every time you tense around it.
On the customer app your portal is advertised as specifically "Human pussy" so you like imagining the kinds of monsters who would pick that out specifically. You haven't figured out what monster this one might be, it's rather thick and hot with a very generous amount of precum.
When you get to your stop the train jerks more than you expected and you have to subtly cover your mouth and grab the railing to avoid making a sound. Your customer definitely felt you clench down in panic as their cock jumps in excitement.
They start grinding down slowly on the portal, their cock thrusting shallowly. You speed walk straight for the train station bathrooms and lock yourself inside a stall. Close call but you made it and just in time for their shallow thrusts to turn into full pumps into your slick pussy.
You lean your back on the wall of the stall as your cunt is now being thoroughly pounded by this stranger. You have to crouch to your knees as your orgasm builds up, rubbing your clit with one hand while the other covers your mouth.
Just as you're about to tip over the edge you feel something bigger at the base of the shaft bump against your pussy with each hard thrust. You gasp in realization but it's too late as the monster thrusts their knot past your entrance and you cum hard with a silent scream, spasming and shaking against the bathroom stall.
Their cum fills you to the brim, kept inside by their inflamed knot. They don't stop cumming for several minutes but when they do it takes you several more to compose yourself enough to step out of the bathroom on wobbly legs.
You make the slow and embarrassing walk home while the monster's knot sits snuggly inside your pussy, keeping all that warm cum inside you.
The knot inside you doesn't deflate fully until you're already home and making dinner. You have to grip the counter, shivering slightly as your customer pulls out and goes on with their day having been properly satisfied. The thought makes you feel a strange sense of pride. Just then your phone beeps with a notification from the Portal companies app.
The customer left a tip!
How nice! They also left a review on your page,
"10/10. Best stress relief. Would fuck again."

Birds of a Feather previous / next
#my art#feralnette au#birds of a feather#long tags#sorry I went apeshit in the tags#LETS SAY IT ALL TOGETHER NOW#I - M - A - G - OOOOOOOOO#its fun drawing marinette's back to Alya and having her appear stout and unstoppable and totally logical#and then you see her face and she's like two seconds from completely snapping and is keeping it together by a thread#as a note just because mari feels very certainly abt smth doesnt mean she's right. feelings can be valid and also irrational#in the throes of grief she decided it was better to be alone than to lose someone again so she started pulling away#and lila made pulling away very very very easy to do#shes also vaguely aware she's being unfair in pinning this on alya which is why she started spinning the drain on cockmoth again#legitimately all the shit that's happened to her wouldn't have been so catastrophic if he was never in the picture and she knows it#but the bitterness of her bestie choosing a fantastic liar over her at the worst of times stiiiiiings#alya's personal timing was bad but lila really took advantage of the fact that marinette had been acting off and weird#she basically clocked marinette as being unstable from SOMETHING and made up a lie about her#knowing she wouldn't have the strength to defend herself#between her social life going tachy bc of lila and losing fu in a way that felt like personhood death marinette was really put on the spot#and alya doing her thing of busting in there and assuming her bias is correct was a terrible combo#essentially marinette is highly unstable and alya is just realizing that#busting in and giving her a lecture when she's slightly hysterical and definitely delirious from exhaustion is NOT the way#to show her she's self sabotaging#cuz thats just gonna make her double down on self sabotaging. bc marinette will not accept that she is also a CHIIIIILD

You have 90 minutes to complete. (original poem: r.a.)
In participation of the MCYT Recursive Exchange 2024 hosted by @mcytrecursive!
Inspired by know that all my love will be your breath (i will save you when your lights go out)
[text under cut]
1. Have you ever been in love? (Please circle your answer.) a. It's me and him b. Our hearts beat in sync c. Our lives intertwined
2. Do you understand what you’ve done? (Please circle your answer.) a. I couldn't do anything b. I lost my balance c. I doomed us both
3. It's been god knows how long since you felt phantom hands on your neck and there is no one in sight. If you were soul-bound to him and both of you died at the same time then why are you still waiting in the void? Please answer clearly, in full sentences. (Not a correct answer:I just wanted to see him one more time).
4. Define two (2): Fate | The feeling of his forehead against yours Curse | The moment you realise he isn't linked to you anymore
5. True or False: i. It was your fault. ii. You wish you had met him under different circumstances. iii. You can’t regret a single moment that you had him. iv. You would do it all over again if you could. v. It ended long before either of you said anything.
