#so many opportunities and people’s time wasted bc i cannot bring myself to do insert thing #i want to do it i can do it i know how to do it it would take ten minutes. and i dont. i cant #i thought depression medication would help and it def gave me more energy but not the motivation to pick up fucking prescriptions!!#so i keep running out! and i just Will Not go get them #i’m so exhausted of this i really really do not know what to do #every month every semester every year i say this is the year i get on track this is the year i get it together but i just cannot #and i can’t explain it to anybody. even my therapist just stares at me baffled #every day crushed by the dozen different things that are so long overdue and the guilt of ppl giving me grace #i literally don’t know what to do #how do people live like this what do you do #or am i just unfixably lazy and ungrateful and a bad kid. i want to do it i just can’t. head in my hands #sorry i cant stay awake for more than 4 hours at a time and haven’t had energy to cook bc i cannot bring myself to get my meds #and it’s kind of making me into a mess #have a psych apt tomorrow but i don’t know if it’s even worth it to beg bc so many people just raise an eyebrow and are like #um… have you tried just doing the thing #delete later #sorry i’m soooo frustrated

So, if you want to know something about your old art and how it has stuck around and been admired still, because I have, at this moment, a grand total of about a dozen posts on my blog, and there tucked in from October 2023 is still a lovely comic that you made of an android and an angel that I absolutely love rereading over and over again. I'm not sure if it was that or Leviathan that introduced me to your work and art, but it was that comic that made me start following you and let me have the opportunity to read SHR which has been an absolute treat!

30. whats something youre proud of about your artstyle?

I like how I draw faces...... esp expressions. I like drawing people getting surprised/scared lol. I also like how... flexible? I am? I guess? Increasingly it's easy for me to translate things I've never drawn before into my existing art style if that makes any sense.

Toss-up between this and this. First I just adore compositionally and can't wait to actually introduce these characters so people understand why this drawing KOs me. Latter I understand is weird and vague and ....mildly..? suggestive ? But like. I love the colors and the lighting, and the style is so out of my wheelhouse that I've literally never been able to recreate it

24. whats a compliment about your art that has always stuck with you?

I've gotten a lot of very nice words over the years that I carry with me (I have a personal discord channel dedicated to scs of nice tags/comments people have left me lol) but I think the most recent one that's notably stuck with me is from someone who read redux and recognized my style from my In Stars and Time sideblog. They left a tag on the post that was like "omg I started reading and I just knew it was that one incredible isat fanartist" and left a string of compliments. For some reason it always surprises me when people recognize my quirks and art style from one subject to another, but this just caught me especially off guard and was incredibly flattering. I like the reminder that I do actually exist outside of my own head.

17. what is something you're confident about in your art?

This changes with the phase of the moon but right now I feel pretty good about shading? Tbh using 3D models as references has really helped me get a feel for how to cell shade based on 3D space and not just where I vaguely guess shadows should fall.

22. do you have a favorite color palette to work with?

Hm... I like orange and blue a lot. They're good for sunny day scenes but also very versatile. I also like doing "blacklight" / neon palettes but I don't do it as much

34. whats something you still like from your old art?

I had pretty fun compositions, sometimes. This is from when I was 15. The anatomy definitely leaves something to be desired, especially the faces, but I feel like the overall concept is strong enough to still stand all these years later.

I like that I was always pushing myself, too. I still try to do this of course, but younger me really would just try anything regardless of my skill level. A quick scroll through old art always shows me surprisingly daring stuff. It might not have been well executed, but it was the effort that counted and helped me improve.
