Hello, people 👋🏻

I'm here once again talking about my Hades x Persephone wip. I explained here how basically my au works, so I thought it was time to share something more about the characters and their deities.

This time is Jan's turn!

As always *drum rolls*

Jan is connected to Hades!

But is he the real Hades? Who knows!👀 You'll discover it when I'll start posting my work, once it's finished lmao

The connection was basically born on its own, I didn't have to think about it.

Hades is the god of the dead (not death! It's a common misconception) and of the riches of the soil (and this fact isn't often taken into consideration). I tried to include both elements in the aesthetic, as you can see a skull and a crystal.

In ancient Greece Hades was seen as a benevolent deity but also considered as one of the most feared. This was my first impression when I started following JO: I saw Jan as the lone member of the band, always lost in his world, but as the more I observed him, the more I could see that he was sweet and friendly in his awkwardness.

Besides, Hades aesthetic fits Jan perfectly, let's be honest

finally at that age where i'm thinking i should get a tattoo. not bc i feel strongly about it, just seems like a waste not to. i've got so much skin i'm not using

#feels so selfish like. all this skin what am i saving it for?#open to design suggestions! (please make me regret this offer)#maybe some deep sea horrors. a pretty watercolor of a gulper eel #once saw a person on the subway with various Skeleton Tattoos on all their limbs #i respected their commitment to the theme #but more than that i respected how all the skeletons were engaged in Activities #dancing in a ballgown. juggling its own (and two other???) skulls. swordfighting. being a mermaid skeleton #ANYWAY. the only reason i haven't already gotten tattoos is i just couldn't be bothered #i'm old enough to know i don't have any strong-but-potentially-temporary feelings driving me towards it #aesthetically i prefer decorated to non-decorated surfaces. but i'm not artistic or thrilled with commitment #honestly it feels like sheer laziness. indecisiveness--nay. immaturity!--that i HAVEN'T gotten a tattoo yet #letting all this blank canvas go to waste. tut tut i need to grow up and be an adult and get a tattoo sleeve already.#really i've put off my responsibilities long enough #(in fairness i DID at one time have 18 different piercings)#(but i took most of them out bc they interfere with wearing headphones and/or shoving my face in my pillow during Sleep Time)#(i only kept the nape piercing bc oddly enough it ended up being the most convenient. and the least painful to get now i think about it.)#(neck piercing? no problem. normal pair of earrings? Tribulations And Suffering. i don't make the rules i just poke them with a stick.)

20.12.23, wednesday

My main hobby is just procrastinating in any way I can. The plan was to make a cup of coffee and then start working. What actually happened is that I watched a 3 part video series (by james hoffmann ofc) on Aeropress coffee and made a few cups with different variables. Still not sure if I found The Recipe for me, but it’s getting better (tho I don’t love the coffee beans I have)

#altho i’m not sure I agree that inverted method is not worth the risks #maybe I just pour my water in too slow (bc I get nervous abt pouring too much) but there’s a fair bit of liquid that manages to get through #before I can place the vacuum on there #so I did it with inverted method #what I took from his recipe was the swirling instead of stirring and letting it rest for 30secs after to get a more even bed of coffee #I did 14g of coffee & 200g of water with a 5min brew -> swirl -> another 30seconds of letting it rest before pressing gentlyy for like 20-3 #seconds #but idk it’s a bit ’’one note’’#which could be the beans #I have medium roast rn and I prefer light roast but the light roast beans have been no where to be found lately idk why #(there aren’t many actual light roast beans and the other ones are waay out of my budget)#(or at least good ones; there’s the one affordable light roast that’s everywhere but I don’t like it that much (but tbf should’ve still #bought that instead of these ones I got))#like this is still way better than what the drip coffee of those beans are #and the achilles heel is that I don’t have a thermometer of any kind so my water temperature is guesswork every time #so tweaking variables is always a bit sketchy bc idk if I just had a better water temperature that time #studyblr #booklr #aesthetic #bookblr #books #study #reading #read #book #coffee #2023 #december 2023

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SIDE ORDER, A.K.A. PEAK FICTION!!! I don't give a shit what anyone says, I adore this DLC so much. The gameplay is addictive, the music is unique, the characterization is great, and it gave us so much Off the Hook fanservice after we were starving for so long. This is one of my dearest gaming memories, and I really hope they make a spin-off based on the gameplay with an improved story.

scarlet ooze from palms from feet, little moans of pain, algesic whimpers and rattles of ribcage wholeheartedly vacuous solidly empty mirror of the sky ever turning where is the grave where the pyre? wandering with this aimless bier.

though I carry her on this journey to the end she rather seems to drift upon the winds of Mystery — formless incipiative emergent from the West — that breeze lifting the grass with motionlessness. her wrists squirm painfully against rough wood and, rueful, I smile. again, it is clear when I move equal in stride to the earth, the destination never nears never recedes. we are going nowhere.

when the blood oozes from her parted skin as she waits for change the mechanism writhes, ignorant and teeming, within her flesh, pounding against ribs heaving within chest, tearing hurting bursting — for change is not an object awaited.

the steppe’s verdant expanse ornamented by heavenly mirror is nothingness, and it drives her along but we are going nowhere, and she fails to find the path.

treading nothing summoning nothing forward like an undriven carriage whole like an empty amphora.

though seeking to deny it — this is the Way, but I want another.

though seeking to be free of the nails, in clearest truth she wants another.

these silent words unmet in a generation — perhaps a thousand years hence a sympathetic worthy will match with the feeling.

but by then the plains shall wear only graves.

#i said i would see if any of my poems were worth posting #i like this one a lot i wrote it at the end of january #i wouldn't say it's perfect for a number of formal reasons #but i think it has a nice aesthetical feel to it #and perhaps someone out there shall appreciate the feeling of it.#though i fear it is as infused with unhelpfully classical allusions as some of my denser prose can be... because i prefer elegance to sense
