I’m baffled.

I saw a post about someone’s “hot takes” on the gods. And it was tagged in Hellenic Polytheism and such-

And just boldly claimed Lord Poseidon is a terrible person and King Zeus is worse? Like hello? Are we following the same religion?

Just a reminder, you don’t pick and choose what gods are “good.” You don’t get to decide that gods are ok or not to worship based on their portrayal in myth. The gods are not their myths. Myths were written by opinionated/biased people who intended to explain the unexplained at the time. Myths are metaphors. Myths are *myths.*

Of course there is some information and lessons that we can draw from myths but our entire religion is not centered around myth literalism like other religions are such as Christianity.

The gods are not bad. They aren’t assholes or terrible people. They are Gods and Goddesses. They are the (I don’t wanna say personification but I can’t think of a better way to phrase it) personification and guardians of nature and life and knowledge and all of the beautiful things we deal with in everyday life. They’re not big story time villains that you get to write headcanons on.

Please, please research our religion and understand mythic literalism and why it’s not what the religion is founded on. Take the time to actually learn and understand that the gods are not their myths. They’re so much more than that, and they don’t mean any ill will on their followers unless you’ve terribly wronged them or someone else in an incomprehensible way.

I’m sorry for the long post but it upsets me so much to see people calling gods that are genuinely so kind and have helped me and others through so much assholes when they are anything but that.

I have an idea about Lucius Verus x reader and Marcus Acacius x reader. Let me explain. Reader is secretly in relationship with Acacius and Lucius is her childhood friends(reader is senator's daughter) and her marriage with Lucius had been planned since they were children. Reader doesn’t have any feelings for Lucius more than a friend. When he was missing, reader felt sorry for Lucilla but now he had returned as a gladiator and claimed his right as an emperor. Marriage plan with Lucius still valid and now he needs a consort to complete his position. Lucius has a feeling for reader since he was a child but he knew when he was looking into her eyes, he knew that she has someone else claiming her heart already. Reader doesn’t know what to do if anyone ever knows she’s with Acacius, he would be in danger. She doesn’t trust anyone even Lucius. However, Lucius knows who it is. He doesn’t ask anything more from reader. He just wants the title not her heart even though it hurts him. Very angst. I don’t think there’s gonna be smut. 🥹

p.s. 1 Marcus Acacius and Lucilla are not lovers in this trope. However, they are good friends.

Why do we find it okay as artists to redo "the greats" arts, to make 1:1 of them, to use them as practice, to refference them in our own works,

But then if you did the same with a small artist's work, you're suddenly an art theif, a cheater, a liar, a terrible person??

Why is it acceptable for me to make fanart of any anime character I so please, but if I come across someone's OCs online I'm expected to ask their concent if I wanna make fanart?

Small artists and "the greats" are the same, we're all just artists.

I genuinly don't understand it. If I want to paint a 1:1 of The desperate Man (Gustave Courbet), or if I wanna make a thousand fanarts of Deadpool that's fully okay, but if I even think of doing that with a small artist, it's suddenly one of the worst treasons I could have ever commited on art and I get stripped of my title of artist??

That's the thing I hate the most of the art community too, you're expected to know from the beginning all these sets of "rules" and are never given an explanation to them

Like, I remember getting fucking torn to shreads on instagram once, when I was fucking 11-12 years old, because I found a drawing I liked on google, decided to redraw it in the exact style with different colors for the characters, like?? Sorry, I am a *child* who doesn't know shit about the internet and tried to do something I thought was nice and neat???

And the worst part is, deppending where your art lands? Some artists will tell you it's okay, there's no rules to art, do as you want!

And others will send you death threats for so much as existing bruh.

To me personally, I fall in the category of art has one rule; don't claim another person's work as your own. Don't just screenshot someone's art, post it and say you made it.

(Obv with the new age, don't use A.I., but that'll never be art so.. 💀)

For everything else, there are no rules. Trace, copy, make a 1:1, build upon pre-existing works, draw someone's OCs, share your own OCs, inspire yourself of different works and mediums, do as you wish, share what you want, art is not something to be gatekept, it's the most human thing there is. Music, drawing, painting, writing, feeling inspired, Creating. it all comes to us naturally as humans. We all love beauty and creating it. Let's not stop eachother from experiencing the beauty of creation. ♡

Also, never try to ruin someone else's work or tear them down, but that mostly applies to everything in life, not art specifically..

Lets build a beautiful community together and nurture eachother's talents with love and appreciation ♡

@caiteaz i was going to make this a reply but then it ran away from me, so sorry for the delayed response!

first up i just want to say that your interpretation of them a brotherly relationship is awesome and i love it. when all is said and done i'm personally open to really any interpretation of their dynamic, ultimately they are fictional characters and we have better things to do than argue over fake people. that's part of why i kept the romance mention in the tags rather than in the post itself

that said i am one of the people on the romance train so. i will explain my take on it!

realistically i think the main reason erik/the daroga as a ship exists is because of the susan kay novel. idk if you've read it but they are. very gay in that. it's been a while since i read it, but if i remember right at one point erik nearly steals diamonds--aka the stuff they make wedding rings out of--to give them to nadir (the daroga's name in this version). and then i remember VERY vividly erik even ponders if nadir is going to be his lover but then decides nah because erik can't comprehend the concept of bisexuality (despite clearly being open to the concept himself)

also more obscure but beloved by me if nobody else, there's the 1991 musical where the daroga swoops in at the end, plants himself on erik's bed, tries to comfort him because he's sad about christine leaving, then talks about how he's followed erik from the ends of the earth and will continue to follow him until the end of time. and then they smile and clash swords together (this is not a euphemism but sounds like it)

but in terms of the leroux novel, then for me the romantic interpretation of erik/the daroga comes from two approaches: fun reading-between-the lines of their interactions, and speculating the concept of such a relationship based on the characters themselves

from the between-the-lines approach, in the leruox novel they're antagonistic, but close. they feel almost like exes who are still kind of a little in love with each other, but also broke up for really good reasons, but also still understand each other better than everyone on the planet. i don't even read them as exes, i just think they have the vibe all on their own because their chemistry is so fun

basically, they annoy each other, but also clearly still care about each other. from erik's side of things, he doesn't drown the daroga in the lake (but is very okay drowning anyone else), and when he's at death's door at the end it's the daroga he goes to so he can tell him what happened with christine and get help fulfilling his burial wishes. and the daroga, despite literally losing everything and being exiled from his homeland because of erik, still follows erik to paris and keeps in touch with him and stalks him, really, the way erik stalks christine. (i'm a simple person, i see any parallels between same-gender relationships that are totally not romantic and hetero ones that totally are and i immediately raise my speculative gay eyebrow)

and obviously there's multiple ways that kind of relationship can be interpreted. i don't even know if leroux intended for us to read them as friends considering the daroga repeatedly calls erik a monster and they clearly get on each other's nerves. this is why i have a second approach, speculating on the concept of them

like, think about leroux erik. he desperately wants to be loved but also his relationship with christine is super unhealthy. i mean... someone who knows what he looks like and what horrors he is capable of and who still hasn't abandoned him despite losing everything for him is RIGHT THERE

and the daroga. he literally saved erik's life ages ago and never seems to regret it no matter how much evil erik commits. prior to christine's kiss, the daroga seems to have an recognition of erik's inherent worth as a human being when no one else does, even with all the times he calls him a monster. he wants erik to be alive and wants him to be happy, but also knows when to step in because he's gone too far. also he himself is an outsider in paris because he is an immigrant who is distrusted by the people around him because of his appearance, giving him a degree of empathy for what erik has been through as an "other." (i would argue christine also has this potential because she's swedish and this is even why she and the daroga are the two people able to get the most close to erik, but that's another post)

even if all that's not romantic love that's still got to be some kind of love. and considering romantic love and the so-called "intrinsic need" for it is a huge part of the novel, the romantic interpretation just makes sense theme-wise

anyway. sorry for the long post but i hope that answered your question. like i said, that's just my take. i'm sure others have different opinions because art is wonderful and subjective that way

the relationship between erik and the daroga is great because while yes, erik is the bane of the daroga's existence, the daroga is EQUALLY obnoxious to erik. for every gray hair the daroga receives from erik causing mayhem, erik receives one split end of what little hair he has left from the daroga stalking his house, butting his nose into his private life, and all around being a major buzzkill by reminding him of promises he made forever ago like "no more murders" or whatever

This is a headcanon for various bnha characters in regard to crushes, attraction, dating, etc… I still want to add three characters to this part. Also, this is not an x reader, that's why I didn't tag it as one, it's basically a post saying "here is the reason I write the character or the reader a certain way" in my previous or future fics.

Please note that these are my headcanons, so obviously it’s not the same as yours. And I will make headcanons for characters that I care about.

He probably had a decent amount of crushes, maybe like five or so from childhood to adolescence.

I think he's the type to be more attracted to personality than physique, so his crushes looked nothing alike, but their personalities were the same.

Speaking of personalities: bubbly, free spirited, maybe a little bratty and definitely the optimist type or maybe realist.

His idea of a nice date would be going to the arcade or on a picnic. If dating long enough then dates at home are added to the mix.

At the start of dating since Izuku is the polite type I think he wouldn't drop the formalities immediately and still call his partner by last name.

When dating I think Izuku is a real gentleman, opening the door, buying flowers/gifts regardless of the occasion, very wary of boundaries.

If I had to think of a negative when dating him is probably that he will try to fix the problem that his partner has instead of just listening. But if called out on it he is going to ask beforehand what he needs to do or not do when his partner vents.

Bakugō Katsuki

I'm sorry but this guy cannot possibly develop a crush, I don't see him that way. He probably can tell if someone is pretty, but developing romantic feelings is not on the table.

But, in the case he does develop a crush, he will ignore it. He will avoid the person at all costs to the point that he forgets about it and moves on with his life.

But to what kind of person, he will be attracted ? 100% the quiet type, the introvert. Not shy, but introvert. Sarcastic, confident, a realist type. In short, him but way less aggressive.

Dates ? Being with his partner is a date. But if you ask him about it, he will say going to the gym. Purely because he wants to annoy his partner.

He already is rude so he will not bother being polite to his partner. Anything that they don't voice out as a no is a yes to him, because he knows that they would have said something if they're uncomfortable.

His love language is definitely physical contact. So, a lot of hand holding, hugging, and just in general a lot of physical contact.

Negative trait. Well, he treats his partner like his friend. The only reason everyone knows they're a couple is because they had told them and even then people are convinced they’re not.

Kirishima Eijirō

I think he does develop crushes but doesn't really pay attention to it. Like he will develop a crush and then just act the same with them as everyone else, maybe a tiny bit more friendly.

But if it's more serious than a crush he will confess his feelings and try to get closer to the person.

He's the opposite of Izuku when it comes to attraction. All of his crushes look alike or at least have some key features in common. So, for him as long as the personality is okay, and the looks align with his preferences.

Speaking of preferences. Definitely someone who is muscular. Like very muscular. I know in bnha everyone has non-natural coloured hair, but I feel like in the real world he would be attracted to non-natural hair (blue, pink, red, etc...). Someone tall, maybe even taller than him.

He isn't picky with dates. Anything that his partner wants to do he'll do it, he's very flexible in that area. So he went from dates like the typical movies to extreme sports.

He is a gentleman. Carrying his partner's bag, complimenting them, being really into his partner's hobby.

Negative trait ? I think it depends on the partner that he has.

Kaminari Denki

Tons of crushes. Each time (if) he gets rejected he waits like three months to get another one.

When he develops a crush, he is not the type to be shy about it, immediately makes it clear that he is interested because he doesn't have anything to lose anyway.

When it comes to appearance and personality, I think it is 50/50 for him. And he doesn’t really have a type, so his crushes can vary in appearance and/or personality.

And I think when it comes to his preference in personality, it’s two completely opposites. Let’s say quiet, keeps to themselves, or complete burst of energy. Nothing in the middle.

I’d say when it comes to dates he likes something active, that will give him adrenaline. So skateboarding, arcade, escape game, etc…

I would guess he’s very clingy. Holding his partner’s hand is not enough, he needs to cuddle them 24/7, be near them every time. He will complain if they go to the bathroom.

Negative trait: He’s kind of childish. Doesn’t really know how to dissolve conflict because he doesn’t really know how to ? But he tries obviously.

Todoroki Shōto

For obvious reasons, he didn't really get the chance to have crushes, but as he starts to open up and be more social, I think he will have that love at first sight kind of thing. Idk I think it's of fitting.

That first and only love when he knows he wants to marry that person the moment he lays eyes on them, even if he doesn't really know how to express it.

He's more the type to prioritize personality over looks, but not because he doesn't care about them, but because he finds everyone pretty in their own way.

His partner will definitely be someone shy, but really extroverted and friendly. Who's always polite and just a people person in general.

At first, he would probably let his partner pick their dates, since he doesn't really know what would be appropriate in terms of it. But as he gets more comfortable in this area, he will start to voice out his opinions more.

His love language is probably telling his partner how much he loves them and cherishes them. Always being vocal about how much they mean to him and that his life wouldn't be complete without them.

As for a negative trait, he's passive. He doesn't want to make his partner feel like they don't have a choice in the matter so it's always "What do you want ?" "What do you prefer ?" "I don't really have a preference"

Īda Ten'ya

He’s the type to kind of ignore his crushes but not act on them because he’s treating it like a rational thing: he’s too young for that, it will be uncomfortable if the other person doesn’t reciprocate.

But once he's out of UA and finally an adult, he would be up to dating because he's more relaxed as a person and because "both parties aren't influenced by teenage hormones" (you can fight me on this but I'm 100% that sentence would have left his mouth)

He cares about personality more than looks, but he's also not too picky, I guess. As long as the person is on the more serious side of things.

While dating it's he definitely is the romantic type, so dates in the cinema, picnics, high class restaurants, etc... If his partner is uncomfortable with that, he'll try to still be his romantic self but accommodating his partner's boundaries.

His love language is acts of service so every time his partner wants something or wants to do something, that's his top priority and nothing gets in the way, even his hero work.

He probably gets into a relationship only if he sees a future with that person, so the second he knows their taste in jewellery he gets the ring. Though he probably won't propose until he's sure it's the right time.

Negative trait. I feel like he sees the world in black and white so that would definitely take a toll on his partner because obviously things aren't like that.

Idk about the season two stuff, but I have thoughts about season three:

I HATE hate hate hate when people say Cat King should be used as a way for Edwin to become comfortable enough with himself to date Charles. It almost makes Payneland a notp for me. If it's that situation, that's just crap writing. No one should be used like that, even in a story. I hate it.

Aside from that, Charles already basically said no to Edwin. In my mind, that means it should be final. I don't care if he suddenly realizes he loves Edwin in a romantic way- that's just a sucky thing to do to someone. Let Edwin realize his first real crush doesn't have to be who he ends up with- that's NORMAL. That's HEALTHY.

I don't really have a problem with Charles and Edwin as a concept- I originally said I'd be okay with either outcome- but sticking Edwin with his first crush forever (literally) would damage his character. Him and Charles started as essentially mentor/mentee, then they became friends/mates, then brothers. They shouldn't become a romance after one of them already indicated rejection to the other.

Edwin should be allowed to move on and place his romantic love elsewhere. Even if Charles suddenly realizes he was wrong, that's not fair to Edwin. Even if Edwin doesn't end up with CK, he shouldn't end up with Charles. It's fun to ruminate on what that could be, the fanfics are amazing and definitely worth reading, but it shouldn't become canon.

Saying "there's no one more important to Edwin" is locking him in a box. Sure, Charles will always be his first love and his most important, but that doesn't mean he can't date someone else.

As an example from another fandom, this situation reminds me of Steve and Robin from Stranger Things. While they're portrayed (in fandom especially, for this example I'm focusing on that) as being each other's Person and most important, they're never going to date. Even though Steve confessed, Robin wasn't interested. She's a lesbian. With Dead Boy Detectives, it's flipped. Even though Edwin confessed, Charles wasn't interested. He's straight, as far as we/he knows and he hasn't indicated any feelings for Edwin that couldn't be just brotherly. Like Stobin, they're each other's Most Important, but it isn't romantic.

Sorry to go off, but this is just so frustrating to me. I hope this all made sense.

Also, as a general to everyone who's gotten this far, please stop posting how much you don't think Catwin (or any other ship) is going to happen under those ship tags- you can put it under any other ship tag for the fandom or even the characters, but if you're tagging a post about how a ship is impossible as that ship, that tag is filled with just that and it's very frustrating.

(I'm tagging this Payneland because I'm sleep deprived (it's WAY too late (early?) for this) and petty, do as I say not as I do lol)

season 1 ended with both Crystal and Edwin being interested in Charles.

for me season 2 would have ended with him "losing" both. Charles choosing to let Crystal go and live her human life, and Edwin having his "adult experiences" with the cat king.

of course in a hypotetical season 3 we could have got payneland togheter. Because as much as i love catwin, i really feel no other person can be more important to Edwin that Charles. Its just how it is...

Do you ever think about Minoris reaction to being freed from the possession because I do a lot. Like. Imagine you were used as a puppet to torment this incredibly kind and patient boy, who didn't do anything to you except be too odd and off-putting. Imagine you said so many horrible things to him and made school unbearable. Imagine you tormented him until he finally snapped and then he saves your life. After you made his life a living hell, he just...saves you anyway. And he looks at you with big, disappointed eyes and asks you if you actually treat people like that. If you would actually make someone's life a living hell or if that was just Mogami rewriting your personality to suit his needs. And you could lie. You want to lie. But you don't. You are like that.
