genuine question — how is donating money going to help Palestinians if no food is going in? What is the money for?

Medicine, water, supplies, food, fuel (much of it black market being upsold at egregious prices) — these all cost money and pretty much all Palestinians in Gaza have no source of income now. It’s drops in the bucket compared to ending the siege and occupation but it’s one way to do at least something small to help. Others are in need of money to evacuate when the border opens again (which hopefully is asap…), tuition and supplies for school to continue studies despite it all. Another fund is focused on trying to rebuild farmlands in Gaza to get food again that way.

I can’t tell anyone what to do with their money but I don’t think this mindset of “well nothings going in so we can’t help” is helpful for people on the ground who are the ones saying that donations can and do help them survive.

Netanyahu is now admitting what the intention was all along, the complete takeover of Gaza. Displaced people are already forced into only 25% of Gaza, and now Israel wants to reduce it to 0%. The Israeli settler-colonial project can only be complete through the genocide of Palestinians. They have been destroying infrastructure, killing the environment, killing the people, starving the children.

A short timeline of events

March 2025 - Blockade

Israel prevents entry of food and humanitarian supplies to Gaza. Then they unilaterally break ceasefire.

May 2025 - Opening of GHF death traps

On May 27, Private US contractors roll out aid "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation" sites backed by Israel. GHF was led by Jake Wood, a US military veteran, and now is directed by John Acree, longtime US imperialist who previously worked with USAID, and Johnnie Moore, an evangelical christian zionist and capitalist. These sites are all located in Israeli military zones, where journalists have no access.

June 2025 - GHF sites are condemned by everyone (except the zionists). Daily massacres continue at GHF sites.

GHF is immediately identified as a tool of genocide and condemned by aid and human rights organizations, the United Nations, and literally everyone on the ground from doctors to civilians.

The Gaza Health Ministry states that GHF "does not adhere to any professional or ethical standards of humanitarian work" and confirms civilian reports that GHF sites are staffed by armed private security personnel, and that both GHF staff and Israeli military have fired directly upon people collecting aid.

Save the Children's regional director for the Middle East, North Africa and eastern Europe, Ahmad Alhendawi released a statement that children were killed or injured in more than half of the fatal attacks at GHF sites, stating: "No child should be killed searching for food. This is not a humanitarian operation – it's a death trap. Forcing civilians into fenced-in zones only for them to be gunned down is the opposite of humanitarian – it's inhumane."

As of June 25, 549 people had been killed and more than 4,000 injured at or near GHF sites.

July 2025 - People continue to starve and endure daily massacres

As of July 16, The death toll of Palestinians killed near GHF aid hubs reached 700.

As of July 21, the death toll of Palestinians killed trying to access food aid reached 1,054.

UNRWA (The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East)'s Ms. Touma stated: “The so-called GHF distribution scheme is a sadistic death-trap. Snipers open fire randomly on crowds as if they're given a license to kill… This cannot be our new norm. Humanitarian assistance is not the job of mercenaries.”

As of July 24, the Health Ministry reported that there were 28,000 cases of malnutrition in Gaza, with over 5,000 recorded in July alone.

On July 29, IPC releases an alert stating that the "worst case scenario of famine" is unfolding in Gaza.

August 2025 - Today

Today alone over 79 people have been killed trying to reach food aid.

Here’s a picture of my stray cat that I adopted before I turned him into an inside cat. When I first met my cat, I was talking to my friend Mohammed (@save-mohamed-family) very frequently and every time I would see this cat, I would think of his son Abdul Rahaman and the cat & kittens he took into their tent in Gaza.

Mohamed’s wife, Manal (@support-a-mom-battling-cancer) has been sick with uterine cancer in Egypt while Mohamed and their 3 children are still in Gaza. The pain and struggle of having cancer itself is so much to bear, but this mother is forced to do it with little contact to her husband and her small children.

While this family has a variety of emergencies right now, Mohamed has asked me to make a post supporting his wife’s gfm campaign specifically since her funds have been neglected in the midst of multiple medical emergencies in the family.

It’s hard to chase your dreams when your stomach is empty…

The "Handala" ship set sail from the port of Syracuse, Sicily, on July 13, carrying 21 activists and journalists. It set sail in an attempt to break the blockade imposed on us after the " Madeleine" ship failed to reach Gaza, following the arrest of Swedish activist Greta Thunberg and those on board. Today, the same scenario is being repeated, as Israeli marches set out toward the ship to return it to its starting point.

My friend Ahmed told me about the deteriorating conditions they are experiencing, as their bodies can no longer tolerate hunger and their stomachs are almost rotting because they only drink water and salt without eating any healthy foods or even bread, as the price of food is rising every day due to its scarcity. Ahmed needs to get out of Gaza as soon as possible because of the hunger, fear and diseases he and his family are going through, as the occupation bombed the school next to their tent today, and there was a high possibility that Ahmed would be killed by shrapnel from the bombing. Ahmed has not eaten bread for more than a week, as his injured brother needs essential medicines that are beyond the family’s means. Please do not hesitate to help Ahmed and his family by donating so that they can escape from these massacres, genocide and famine. Support my dear friend from Gaza

My dear friend Anas @dr-anas96 is a 23 years old medicine student whom I've been in contact with for about half a year now.

Thanks to a scholarship offered by the Venezuelan government he got to study medicine there (which is why he speaks fluent Spanish, as do I as a native speaker).

By late September of 2023 he returned to Gaza to visit his family, and you can guess what happened next.

Not only is he enduring a brutal, horrific genocide, but he has developed gastric cancer. He's severely ill, weak, in pain, throwing up blood repeatedly, and on top of it all, very mentally and emotionally unwell due to his campaign moving so slowly and his dreams of becoming a doctor to help his people being crushed thanks to the state of Israel.

He's been very suicidal and depressed, and legitimately the only thing that keeps him going at all is seeing his campaign move forward.

He recently stopped campainging on GFM and moved to chuffed.org. The money he receives goes directly to feeding his beloved, starving family, and to hopefully getting treatment for his severe illness.

Please, don't abandon my dear friend and comrade. He's such a smart, gentle, caring, selfless, accepting, and intellectually curious person. Not that you need to be exceptional in order to receive help to survive a fucking genocide, but he is, in fact, an exceptional person as well. I'm begging you, please don't let his campaign stay stagnant like this.
