ALYA: She’s not at the Trocadéro.

CHLOÉ: She’s not at the Grand Palais.

KIM: Ditto for the pool.

ALIX: The Louvre, too.

SABINE: Where is she?

NADJA: Has anyone checked the Charles de Gaulle airport?

ROSE: I didn’t

ALIX: Why would she be there?

MAX: Negatory.

KIM: What would the chances be?

MAX: Markov, look for Marinette.

MARKOV: On it. (BEEPING) I found her! She is indeed on a plane at the Charles de Gaulle airport bound for Florida, and the plane is taking off as we speak!

(Far from them, a B747-406 takes off from the Charles de Gaulle runway.)

NATHANIEL: Well, there it goes.

(They watch the plane continue ascending. Lagging behind, Adrien finds Lila smirking. She notices him and smiles.)

LILA: Oh. Hey, Adri-

ADRIEN: Quiet! You’re the reason Marinette’s gone!

LILA: Hey, it’s for the best. Best for everyone.

ADRIEN: Really? Everyone? Or only you?

(Glaring, Adrien turns away. Lila watches him go. Lila joins the rest of the group on the street as they watch Marinette’s plane grow smaller.)

ALYA: What have we done?

(Adrien watches the plane, only its red and green navigation lights visible. The blond model sulks, then walks out of sight. The others slowly head off toward their respective residences, their gazes low. Lila remains still at the intersection. The Louvre lights go out. The lights inside the yellow “Liberty” sign by Juleka’s houseboat flicker off, and every light on the boat goes dark. As more lights in Paris shut off, leaving Lila in darkness, she looks around herself as the last lights flicker off and lowers her gaze. She remorselessly frowns. She looks back and sees Gabriel and Nathalie watching in agreement.)

LILA: Phase 1: “Get Marinette out of Paris” is complete.

GABRIEL: Go on Phase 2.

(They’re up to something.)

(Now, in his room, Adrien plays his piano.)

ADRIEN: (SINGING) A piano is a piano No matter where you go

(At the Césaire residence…)

ALYA: A blog is a blog

NINO: That’s what I say

(At the pool…)

KIM: A pool is a pool

MAX, MARKOV, AND ONDINE: This is surely so

(On Liberty…)

Steak Fajitas with Grilled Onion and Peppers

There's not much else on my mind when I develop a craving for beef fajitas till I eat them.

Mesquite wood was used for cooking. In addition to providing a very strong and unique flavor, mesquite also yields the hottest cooking coals. At home on the backyard barbecue using a mix of mesquite bits and charcoal briquets that can be purchased at any hardware store.

If you can, I suggest looking for sun-dried chile powder because it's a huge improvement. Consider the flavor difference between sun-dried tomatoes and oven-roasted dried tomatoes to understand that this is sweeter and less bitter than the usual mechanically dried chile powder. Internet sourcing is fairly simple.

After taking the vegetables off the grill, they should still have a lot of bite; you want the soft tortillas, crisp toppings, and tender meat to all have different textures. Sprinkle with fresh lime juice.

something that peeves me in fiction – in a setting where society that hasn't mostly eliminated scarcity, anyway – is when someone really kindhearted takes in a near stranger in need (e.g. orphan, ex slave) and that person is their only project to whom they can give a lot of care. irl I feel like everyone who's exceptionally nice, or at least bad at drawing a line for their own health, has a full case load and is close to burnout

I don't mind this at all when there's a good plot reason for why X should be helping Y in particular and isn't already overbooked; I feel some ugh when X is depicted as someone who'd always help people in Y's shoes but has mysteriously evaded all other supplicants.

I'm pro-fantasy but this kind of moral fantasy strikes me as a bit uglier than the others: you can be a nurturing figure who gives unconditional help without running something so unphotogenic as a vetting interview or cost/benefit analysis, but you'll never be overwhelmed, either

He's had a long day in the office. Nothing worked, his computer crashed several times, Rosie called in sick, someone forgot to drop off some very important fiscal papers off, the weather outside is shite. Basically it's a horrible day and he's at his wits end.

And to top it all off, the a new library recruit just missplaced like 20 books so now he has to pay the other library assistants about 5 hours of overtime to get that mess sorted. If they even find the books at all because we all know that a missplaced book in a library is as good as burnt. (and yes he could use his powers but he's exhausted and does not want to go through the trouble today).

So he just tears into the poor sucker in front of everyone right there in the library. And of course it slips. His original Manchester accent just slips through. He never means it, of course, knows it could be detrimental to maintain his identity but alas it happens.

And that's when you walk by. You were just returning a book and you overhear him. So you just cock your head from around the corner, and all you have to do is say "Cool it Manchester" and in the 0.5 seconds it takes for the rest of the people present to process your words he's already calmed down. Tells the recruit to not let something like that happen again and walks back into his office.
