It took me, ugh, MONTHS (2), to get to cleaning the two shrimp tanks I have... I had IRL issues going on that would have made it extremely difficult to do a water change especially while injured, and I just had to keep putting it off. It's just shrimp, so it wasn't like, the worst situation, especially since I have established plants and the tanks are a couple years old. There was just a lot of algae build-up on the glass, and, well... Let me just say it was not contributing to my mental health and well-being while the tanks were in that state.

I tested the water before I started cleaning and the parameters were fine (like, I could have left the tanks even longer if I would be okay with selling my soul to the Algae Collective), and the plants and shrimp look fine, too (I mean, I've obviously been keeping an eye on the tanks bc I sit right next to them). Actually, I'd wager to say that the plants are looking really great (the lilies haven't died off [yet? This is the longest period of time I've seen them stay... foliage... fol... foliated? Idk.] and the cryptocoryne in the 10gal is fucking huge and needs to be rearranged, just not right now). That fucking algae was a motherfucker to get off the 10gal (it's a plastic tank and I think that makes the algae grip harder than the glass 5gal).

[Also, fyi, depending on the tank's needs and stability, recommended water changes are a small one every week or every other week. My parameters don't seem to do anything dramatic, so I usually aim for a 20-30% water change every third week (just depends on how much vacuuming needs to be done and how cooperative the shrimp are with moving aside). So 2 months is still a lot. I still did the normal 30% ish amount, since doing more will risk the shrimp's well-being if there's a sudden change in everything, and my water parameters indicated a change was unnecessary - but I don't test for more than the minimum freshwater tests, so there could be a buildup of some mineral I'm not testing for, which is why the change IS actually necessary regardless of what my test kit says - because these tanks were evaporating a lot in summer, it condenses the minerals added with each water addition, even tho I usually top up with R.O. water.]

My back is fucking killing me lol. It has been killing me since spring when it 'went out' for the first time, and I'm not getting any relief, it sucks. But this had to be done.

The 5gal is looking pretty cloudy still, since the filter was super gunked up and I accidentally spilled gunk back in, so I may need to retest the 5gal parameters tomorrow just to make sure I don't have to do another water change, but it'll probably be fine, right? Shrimp love mulm and detritus. I did give both tanks a big ole algae tab for their trouble, tho. (I need a fuckening dish for the big tank. I really wanna clean off that white quartz rock again, but being white means it's an algae magnet, and it's just gonna go green again after a month or two.)

Wish I could take better pictures rn, but I am. Like. Dying. My recommendation: never live in an A-frame style room if you have the option. The wall above my tanks is slanted, and NOT fun for my back to bend underneath the wall for maintenance. (My only flat wall in the room is for my TV/PC.) Also, treat your back nicely, in general. I unfortunately have not had the option to treat my back nicely since spring (fall now), because 'when it rains it pours,' and heavy shit that needs to be moved will not move itself. Once I get a few more things in my room in order, I will hopefully be done with the IRL chaos, bc I have Halloween socks to knit, and I'm not putting that off for another year. (I'm still mad that I couldn't make the ones I planned last year. And I found more Halloween yarn I forgot I bought, so I'm gonna try to make multiple socks.) And I just really need to fucking chill and knit and stop having panic attacks and meltdowns.

note that i didnt do anything to cause these. i didnt use any tool to wipe out any species, or civilizations, nor did i use a monolith

i never see a planet naturally just acquire a tribe (without monoliths) so i really dont know what happened here. however i found an old screenshot and it indeed DID NOT have any tribes!! im not sure when they showed up here

another planet (t1 with no animals, aside from the tribe members; at least they were omnivores so theyd live) has a lot of leftover city decals, with tribes scattered around it and sometimes theyre ON the city decals

again no idea how this happened. i dont interfere with any tribe or civ planets on any of my save files, so im not sure how this just reverted on its own seemingly

its kind of cool seeing two planets with tribes surrounding long abandoned remains of prolific civilizations. how did this happen?

i did see just one other tribe with leftover city decals. its worth noting that both were basically right next to my home planet, so id guess this is related. though other nearby tribe planets didnt have this going on with them

this one even has a spice crate!!!!

a lot of the city decals are placed on odd terrain though, this one is partly submerged

if THAT wasnt enough it also has numerous leftover tribe decals. far more of them than the city decals, no less (which makes sense to be fair. theres always more tribes on a planet than cities)

both types of empty decals next to each other, with an additional spice crate

theres at least three spice crates here. im not picking any of them up though. just to preserve them (and also because its red spice thats WORTHLESS)

found SEVERAL t1 planets with plants (sometimes only one plant even) but no animals, with the tribe members being carnivores!

where did the meat come from. where did the egg come from. where are they getting this. and all the leather for that matter

every single tribe i looked at has just had a pile of meat and one (1) egg at the food place. every single one also had fishing spear huts but no fish! the only thing you can do is fish (thankfully this planet is full of water) but nobody is fishing!!!

seems like a fairly normal planet (t1, with just one type of animal). i was far away so i couldnt tell what was happening but it looked like theyre literally exploding the other animals dead

at first i thought it was the actual tribe members spontaneously exploding, because theyre all blue here and it was too far away to tell what was going on. but i looked closely and i figured out the tribe members are just striking and charging the other animals. the effect gets exaggarated because im zoomed out. also you can see the tribe members use sneak!

i also saw yellow radar waves on my home planet. it was just a sky pinkinator but wow thats rare

incidentally THAT has leftover tribe decals, but theyre just from me keeping some tribes alive up until the end of civ stage. they dont remain in space stage unfortunately

Leshylamb are probably the most friendly towards eachother, they're in a qpr fun fact!! They bond the most easily but it's quite rare for them to catch up? Leshy is busy on missionary parties and then catching rest for a day, while Allure has to keep up with cult maintenance and usually their own personal crusades- but that explains these two deciding to go on a personal crusade with eachother. 😭 its really funny cuz leshy could be tossing allure up in the air and hes shouting at them like "SO HOW HAVE YOU BEEN DUDE!!!!!!" Lambket is ,, sorta uncommunicative...? Heket doesn't really have a clue on why Lamb likes her so much 😭🙏 theyre too afraid to tell her anything beyond that but thats just their brain still believing shes gonna get angry at anything they say. As much as she is a hothead (she has the hothead trait anyways), it's not like Allure is th subject of that nearly as much-- she's grown fond of Allure like how fond she is of Shamura, nothing can quite compare to that fondness of hers. Lambmura is domestic and theyre literally just like an old married couple- either getting on eachothers nerves (on purpose usually) or spending too much alone time together. Allure frequently asks to sleepover at Shamuras shelter because they like to sleep next to their spouse ,, shamura doesn't rlly like sleeping over at allures leader tent? So ? Theyre so domesticated and silly but Shamuras memory usually gets in the way and they feel like allure is dead if they dont see them for too long. Thats what usually triggers an episode within Shamura ,, so ,, Allures clinginess is a little Worsened because of that- trying to reassure Shamura theyre alive- shamura is the calm and collected one after all ,, they dont like seeing shamura genuinely upset

Narilamb is complex in itself. Narinder is the more or so clingy one, but its a little toxic...? Because hes a bit *too* codependent on them...? The main reason anyways is because narinder doesnt wanna experience death for a second time, he still recalls his original death already being,,, Brutal. ??? SO . HE KINDA HAS THAT RIGHT TO BE AFRAID . but thats the toxicity, because its not like Allure would want to kill narinder ever again?? He has high expectations for them and hes a mortal now. Allure is aware of these high expectations and just shrugs them off, cuz, well, what else are they meant to do in fixing Narinders issues if he isnt able to better himself? Narinder /eventually/ does get better mentally but even so its tough to describe their relationship without it being pretty toxic in the first place

He immediately provokes them on sight, shouting why they're here. Yuu says that they were just passing through!!! Before Grim asks him about the statues. Sebek's jaw drops because??? These guys dont know who the Great Seven are??? PREPOSTEROUS (Proceeds to info dump to them)

Things actually go smooth from there!!! Sebek is pleasantly surprised that Grim is genuinely interested in the Great Seven and Yuu butts in with their own insightful questions. It all crashes to the ground when Sebek makes an offhand comment of how he can't believe that the school allowed a human walk around, especially with a CLEARLY not trained pet.

Cue Grim scorching the statue of the Thorn Fairy instead!!! Sebek is AGHAST. He is wailing on the ground begging for forgiveness, even before Crowley happens upon them. Crowley sighs and orders them to wash the windows, things go the same once more!

You might think: Oh, Sebek would NEVER ditch Yuu and Grim like Ace did, ESPECIALLY since its a punishment given from the headmaster himself. Rant about Caleb's Main Story Line

he may be my main, but that does not mean im not allowed to point out my concerns regarding on how his character is presented to us by infold. slight spoilers under the cut but i will try not to.

alright this is my first time doing a rant publicly so bear with me TT TT

as much as i love Caleb, the story progression we have with him is questionable at first and a bit hard to really get invested in. for me at least, thats what i experienced. the first time i went though his main storyline and his myth, i was left confused in some parts and a bit detached to him. but after some replays, that detachment i had slowly vanishes (maybe its bcus im too far gone and cant really bring myself to dislike caleb TT).

my confusion mostly stems from the awkward goodbye he had with MC at the end of the main story, his crash out (that i now hold dear to my heart TT TT), and the fact that MC just accepts that he's alive without any hint of anger. like cmon, MC was literally working herself to death as a coping mechanism bcus of his "death", dont you think she wouldve, i dont know, hated him a bit for making her so miserable for a year?

to be completely transparent with you, screw that cliffhanger, that was absolute trash >:(

i think they shouldve released 3 chapters for them (the writers) to actually tie up the lose ends that was still clearly visible.

cuz aint no way theyre in good terms again after what just happened (and they were close again in his myth, which took place after Homecoming Wings like- ???). its confusing, and i can see why some people are left with disatisfaction on how things were wrapped up.

but after reading his cards, his anecdote, his secret times, and his interactions in his cafe, some of my grievances about him were a tad bit alleviated. a shame really, that it has come to that.

im really hoping that they straighten things up with whatever is going on between these two idiots. cuz as much as i commend them (infold writers) with actually presenting Caleb, all wrapped up in yandere-coded gift paper, the vibes are off and shit's all over the place yknow? they gotta clean that up

i also think that they shouldve put more cinematics in and less text boxes to actually tell the story properly. cuz some of the scenes didnt really work...? bcus it was reduced to just dialogues in boxes. give us more movement. this is the main story for crying out loud infold, you cant just treat it like how you would with a 5 star memory?

(not true. i like the bit in flipside where we see a bit of nicole being depedant on jecka. but jecka wouldnt be able to see that). yeah not super healthy, more so an outlet for jecka and something ari clings to because she's desparate and a baby gay.

like i said, nicole doesn't see value in relationships. but if she did........ i highkey ship emicole ;3 i love the emily suicide pact ending so much and the text she sent to nicole after ughhh that shit hit so right, literally better than any lesbian vn u can find on itch.io. they wouldnt date, just hangout a lot, not even just for drugs but because they genuinly fuck w each other. and sometimes they makeout. do not call emily a lesbo tho she will fuck u up. and dont u know her bf's in m13? and shes also banging some guy in his thirties. emily nd nicole r both toxic as fuck but together two wrongs make a right or smth and it counteracts and its probs the best relationship either of them have, esp since they dont think of it as romantic and therefore dont deal w the stresses that come w being romantically/sexually a couple. so long as nicole doesnt indulge emily too much.... altho theres so much potentional for tragic doomed toxic yuri if she does.

nicole is not a mean popular girl. she's moreso known for the batshit stuff she does and her being besties w jecka, who is realtively popular, like cool with the queen bee but not actually in her possee popular. she's kinda trashy, not emily trashy but enough so that she gets defensive if anyone points it out, particuarly if theyre comparing her and jecka. her family's fine for money, she's just a lot more jaded because of past experinces and isn't extremely materialistic. she def has a cousin who she gets all her clothes from - hand-me-downs. bc of this her style is just the best looking stuff her cousin gives her, not really HER style. she will def have a wolf cut in 2023. she leans more emo but is obvs neevr gonna come to school looking like that bc she's not interested in committing social suicide, she still wants people to think she's HOT, you know?

jecka will go to college, nothing incredly fancy, but not community college. itll be maybe an hour away from home. her dad doesn't give her acess to her college fund bc of this, says its bc she's being a stupid whore by going to one so far away, bet it's so she can sleep with guys whenever she wants bc he won't allow any boyfriends under his roof. further proves she needs to get tf out of his house. she's in the work-study program but it doesnt cover everything so she has to take out loans. sucks but its better than living with dad. (also, he totally emptied the college fund after the divorce and just doesnt wanna admit it).

nicole wouldn't go to college. im thinking one of the endings where she comes into a lot of money happens - either a lawsuit or a death or maybe the coke business goes better than expected. she would move far away, somewhere sunny like miami or cali. i can't see her liking the types of ppl that live in either place but maybe in 2009 cali isnt so bad. high school would eventually become a distant memory.

nicole canonically lifts + boosts. i dont think she'd make enough to move to cali but by senior year its def a side hustle for her. she gets better at it after a few runins with cop. she learns the valuable lesson of flirting is not a reliable way to get out of jailtime when committing a felony.

i dont think nicole regularly does hard drugs - harder than pills, i mean. she'll try most things once - emily is always up for something - but there's def hard lines, like heroin. as seen in flipside, i think jecka is very susceptible to abusing substances when emotionally wrecked, which is a horrible horrible horrible devastating mix. itd be so easy for her to get fucked up on something and not be happy about it.

in a future for jecka more in-line with the endings flipside provides, she's thrown out of the house and starts living in considerably shittier circumstances. i can see her getting rly fucked and stuck in a limbo, suffering from serious mental health issues, not having a support system, using substances to treat it and her life coming to a screeching halt. shitty jobs that dont last long bc she fails drugs tests or comes in hungover or just straight up forgets to show bc she's so fucked from the weekend. and then it stops being just the weekend. and it's getting hard to keep this up but she doesn't know what she'll do without this and she's so traumatized from what little sex work she did do that she'd rather kill herself than start selling her body for drugs.

this could also happen at college. too much easy access to drugs because she's hot and skinny, its 2010 and why would she need to go to therapy, she's away from her dad finally you really think she wants to talk about how awful he was every week? nah, fuck that. lets party! except she doesnt know what she wants to do when she graduates and her degree's useless and her friends don't really care for her they just like getting fucked and she can't go home and she can't text nicole because they haven't spoken since last summer and beside, nicole's probably dead in a ditch or whoring herself for drugs (she thinks telling herself these things will make her feel better about not keeping the friendship going. it does not.) and eventually her grades get so bad that she's threatened with expulsion and at this point, why is she putting herself in so much debt, its easier to take a leave of absence and get a real job. but drugs are so much more expensive when you're not in college. and she's only ever met a dealer maybe once, when she had friends with her and everything said the guy was cool, and she acted like she didnt care but rly she was scared shitless bc what the fuck what if hes in a GANG what if they forget the money and he KILLS THEM? (shes a white girl from the suburbs. getting drugs from your white middle class friends is way less scary than getting drugs yourself).

hi its birthmark anon! weird lore from me i guess i dont mean to trauma dump because my dad is fine lmfao but i HATED that scene because of the “your dad is still alive” line. my dad had heart issues when i was a kid to the point he needed open heart surgery and i remember so clearly my aunt saying something similar to my mom in front of us when he was hospitalized. my mom said she couldnt make thanksgiving dinner because my dad was in the hospital and she had to take care of me and my 3 siblings who were all pretty young kids (i was 11 i think and my younger brother was 9. i remember thinking my dad was gonna die) and my aunt was like “at least you have a family”. we didnt see her for like 5 years after that lmfao

also the “you guys need your own hospital wing” line also frustrated me because i had my own health problems as a kid (im alright now) and people ALWAYS made those sorts of comments to me. i didnt even register the daddy shit until later and that only made the scene worse because while it felt like buck was trying to lighten the mood and make it something they have in common but tommy dismissed it AGAIN. like its not even about sexual jokes to me its about him being an asshole in every scene he’s in 😭

i think caffeine cold kind of parallels that line in just one yesterday. and i have like a whole thing about the cannibalism that ive sent to someone before that im not rewording and typing so im just pasting it -> sneeg ate frank which is caused by a whole thing in itself right because slimecicle wasnt feeding him in the cage and he didnt even get through the cooking show where slimecicle tried to feed ranboo like twice but even if he did get that far he probably wouldnt have eaten any of it anyway with how he talks about slimecicle right. and its more or less implied that sneeg had been in the cage with franks body for atleast a little while and he would still have to eat something. and slimecicles a cannibal so why would he even bring sneeg food in the cage when theres already food in there with him? and even if you were to ignore all that sneeg was still the only one that consistently ate throughout episode two. and its really implied that all the food in general is organs n such just under a filter because slimecicle was eating it and then in episode two in the candy room when vinny tries the candy he spits it out and says its disgusting but sneeg didnt have a problem with it he was eating the entire time they were in there. sneeg knew frank before he died and if you take the "everything about the characters is a metaphor for how media portrays things" seriously you can assume that they were in love with eachother which leads to really the main reason i think showfall would kill frank and not bring him back like they do with everyone else because evidently theyre homophobic. anyway you put sneeg in that cage with franks body and nothing to eat he will eventually have to eat frank to stay alive whether he even knew frank was dead or not. and cannibalism can be a metaphor for so much like sure i guess from a meta perspective you can take the cannibalism in the show as a metaphor for how audiences just take and take but in universe they really are eating people. and innocent cannibalism is traumatic and awful and would add the layer to the characters that everyone always talks about but i really do think the idea of sneeg eating franks body is so much more compelling than charlie unknowingly eating some guts that was served to him. cannibalism isnt an easy thing it takes hands and teeth and bravery and you really do have to be set on it to do it. and it wasnt like he could leave the body after eating or get rid of it or anything and no matter what kind of cannibalism it was he still was carrying around whatever was left of frank and talking to it like frank had never died at all and in the bad hat scene when the filter broke for sneeg he had to have seen that frank was dead and fucked up from getting eaten. and with the idea that they were in love you can take the cannibalism as a metaphor for it because even after frank was permanently dead he wouldnt leave sneeg because sneeg ate him and its not like showfall could just undo that even with how powerful they are they could never undo that sneeg had bloodied himself and touched and tore and consumed and loved frank no matter how many times they reset him or how many times they kill him in gruesome ways
