Day 21 of my 2024 favorites: a stunning (and very large) Tunneling Teddy Bear, rabbit botfly (Cuterebra buccata)

Lots of flies have a bit of a macabre life cycle and botflies certainly fall in that category, but this is a truly magnificent creature all the same. 🖤

contrasted with the defiant dragons' never yielding, but not just Not Yielding, but specifically biting down and Holding On and NOT letting go No matter what, and not just the defiant dragons, but dhurke, this is dhurke's Thing, he holds onto amara despite everything, he holds onto nahyuta... he scrapes and claws for any trace of something as small as jove's photo just for the sake of giving it to apollo when-not if-but when he sees him again, bc even though it seems like he Let Go of apollo he didn't, and he never Let Go of nahyuta, or amara, and even amara is like, dhurke, you always...!

and it's just SOOO AUGUUHGHHHH THEY HURT ME! nahyuta going against his very instinct as a dragon, the creed he was raised up believing... but even as he Let Go of his identity as a dragon... that defiance never gave up on him... its crazy... it's so crazy...it was always there.... GOD!
