It would be funny if after finally becoming a dragonlord Merlin kept finding dragon eggs and just goes to Arthur and be like "Hold this for a minute, I'll be back" then runs off to do chores or fight off another sorcerer attack with Arthur just standing there with a "wtf? Why am I holding this giant egg?! Is this a dragon egg!!?"

Then Merlin returns and thanks Arthur with a quick kiss on the cheek (my boy don't realise he did it) before running off with his egg to find a safe place to store them; this goes on for a while, Arthur wants to question Merlin but if he does would Merlin stop giving him kisses on the cheek? Because he might not admit it out loud, he likes it and looks forward to it everytime Merlin unconsciously does it which is whenever he holds those giant eggs or when he does something unexpectedly nice for his manservant.

You know, I think it's really interesting how in book 6, Harry is the only one who takes Draco seriously. Ron and Hermione laugh the first time he suggests Draco could be a Death Eater or that he could be capable of doing anything for Voldemort. Arthur too is dismissive of the idea. Dumbledore knows that Draco has been tasked with killing him but doesn't believe that he could pose any danger. Even Voldemort himself doesn't actually expect Draco to succeed or even come close. Only Harry believes in him and sees his potential, even though obviously he doesn't see it as a good thing in this context.

In a way it kind of parallels, though also contrasts with, the way that in book 2 everyone thinks Harry is the Heir but Draco immediately knows that despite the compelling evidence to the contrary (after the Parseltongue incident) Harry couldn't possible be the culprit and would never harm Muggleborns.

They both always see and understand each other so keenly and instinctively.

This is an older fanart of mine, that I drew on another device that does not work anymore so hooray !!

I'm posting this here now because I have posted this (and tons of other fanart) on my twitter but now I've unearthed this unused account that I've had for years to finally start posting my art here too.

Now, I'm sure someone's already thought of this but nontheless; what crossed my mind was the fact that Solas is used as a mirror to the Inquisitor figuratively as well as a literary device, and I thought of a new example.

He mirrors the Inquisitor's attitude and behaviour: he responds to kindness with kindness, to curiosity with enthusiasm, and if you decide to be an asshole, he'll respond in kind.

Hindsight gives us the mirroring of two reluctant leaders: two people who do not seek leadership but are forced to accept their roles and cast aside their identities. They become symbols of revolution and resistance. This mirror, however, shows two different outcomes, where one succeeds and the other does not. One relies on their allies and friends for help, and the other shoulders the blame amd responsibilities alone.

There's also another instance of mirroring which I don't think has been caught before, and that's between Inquisitor Lavellan and a romanced Solas and it becomes clear after finishing Veilguard: Solas is the king of the sunk-cost fallacy, but Lavellan is also fighting a losing battle.

Solas is void-bent on tearing down the Veil, because if he doesn't at least try, all the hurt and suffering he has caused and felt has been for naught. Lavellan, if she so chooses, will do everything in her power to stop and save him, because if she does not, all of the pain and love and searching of the last decade has been in vain. Solas stands alone in his quest of tearing down the Veil; Lavellan alone is convinced Solas can be redeemed (remember how everyone except Cole disapproves of the choice in Trespasser? How Morrigan jabs at her in Veilguard?) And just like Solas, Lavellan cannot achieve her goal of changing his mind. Not alone.

But Lavellan isn't alone, and again, the mirror shows us two different outcomes: because while Solas thinks he alone can achieve what must be done and fails, Lavellan is out there reaching out to everyone and their mum to get to him and succeeds.

Timebomb analysis: Ekko’s owl and the Jinx's colours

Let’s start by debunking the myth “owls are the only birds that can see blue”. That is false. Most birds can see as much colour as humans can, but what separates us is that they have the ability to see ultraviolet light. However, that also depends entirely on the species.

For example: colour and UV perception in the owl world is a spectrum where, unlike their relatives, most are believed to only be able to see in grey-scale while others have a limited view of reds, greens, and blues based on the colour of their eyes.

A barn owl (Ekko’s owl) in this case has black eyes, meaning they are nocturnal and can see little colour or only monochrome during the day but hunt during the night due to super sensitive rods (part of the vision that is affected by light/brightness and movement) and activated UV perceptors.

That being said, UV primarily consists of blue, purple, and violet—ones we also find in Jinx's palette. And as previously stated, most owls are suggested to have limited colour preceptors or none at all. Ergo: the only colour they can truly perceive with clearance are those in the UV line.

In episode 4 “Progress Day”, those colours appear when Ekko and Jinx have their confrontation in the airship where purple SPECIFICALLY serves as a carpet for Jinx’s entrance.

Now, why am I yapping so much about UV??

Well, UV helps owls (or birds in general) with important survival skills such as locating prey, avoiding predators, and detecting potential mates since plumage reflects a crucial amount of UV light.

If this was intentional, give a big fat kudos to the art department. If not, then this is a very fucking specific coincidence.

Need a story where Arthur is a ghost who follows Merlin around all day and only in dreams can he communicate and touch Merlin. But to Merlin, he thinks it's not real that he's imagining the Arthur in his mind because no way would Arthur, his golden King would ever call him precious or beautiful, it's just wishful thinking on his part.

So Merlin lives a long life without knowing Arthur is there with him, this time it's Arthur's turn to watch and protect Merlin from the shadows as the warlock once did when Arthur was alive.

Arthur could've stayed in Avalon til he was needed yet the urge to return to Merlin is powerful, although he entrusted the care of Camelot into the hands of Guinevere and Leon he could not do the same of Merlin, and only upon his death did he finally realise why.

He was in love with his best friend. Always had been.

And so it is with great stubbornness and a helpful hand from Freya, whom he just found out was Merlin's first love, he frees himself from Avalon and returns as a spirit that guards Merlin's dreams from nightmares and fights off evil creatures that want Merlin's magic or wish to claim Merlin for themselves...and if some of those creatures happen to be humans who wanted to court Merlin well, he's not going to make it easy on them, on his knight's honour he will protect Merlin's virtue!
