I'm having thoughts about omegaverse and how those animalistic dynamics would maybe sometimes show themselves even outside sexual dynamics.

Especially with Makanolan.

Makarov and Nolan going on a little retreat, somewhere cold, somewhere isolated, where they know they will find good game. They want a break, a moment to gather themselves, be together, test themselves as well, especially if they happen to be recently bonded. They do not bring food, they will have to fend for themselves. It's almost a game, Makarov wants to see how Nolan does, he wants to see him hunt with him, for him.

The moment the hunt starts, the moment they see that lonesome deer, they know that the hunt is on, and something switches inside their brains.

They move in the snow, carefully, a steady pace as they flank the animal, knives in hands, eye on the other as they approach it. They are slow, meticulous, they can feel the adrenaline pumping in their veins, and Nolan can see, even from a distance, the animalistic hunger in Makarov's eyes.

When the creature realizes that it's surrounded, it is too late, and Nolan plunges his knife into its neck, killing it swiftly as bright red blood stains the snow. He breathes hard, the adrenaline making his hand tremble, the satisfaction of a good kill spreading through him like the bliss of an orgasm. And then he smells it, the iron scent of fresh blood and meat, and his body demands it, craves it.

And so Nolan takes out his knife from the animal's neck and goes to bring it to his lips, only to be tackled to the ground by a feral looking Makarov. Nolan's fall is cushioned by the snow, but he knows Makarov would not have been any gentler had the ground been concrete. The omega looks at him so sternly with his dark eyes, snarling as he pins the alpha down. Of course, the dominant requires the first bite.

Nolan submits wholeheartedly, offering his neck to the hungry omega, spreading his legs under him as a sign of submission. Makarov scents him, briefly, his hot breath almost unbearable against the cold skin of his neck, before retreating. Nolan doesn't move, still, very much aware that he didn't get his dominant omega's approval yet.

When Makarov comes back to him with fresh blood spread around his lips, and a piece of hot, fresh meet in his teeth, Nolan knows what to do. He opens his mouth, awaiting the gift. They both tear into the flesh, each grabbing a piece and chewing it, the taste of it so delicious on their tongue, like the sweetest reward for two hunters in their prime. He swallows it, licking the blood off of his lips, until Makarov offers him his, a firm and dominant kiss joining them for a moment.

Once the meal has been shared, they will make camp, and soon after, Nolan will take Makarov and knot him. With a belly full of a fresh kill and the adrenaline of the hunt wearing off, the omega will be calmer, more receptive, and they will mate several times during the night, before bringing their kill to the cabin the next day and enjoying its meat many more times as they enjoy each other's company, the scent of their mating soon filling up the cabin.

This quite possibly the story I've reread the most that I'll recommend on this blog. Banging soundtrack, gorgeous art, brilliant formatting, terror, awesome, gut-wrenching-- all words to describe this story. The author doesn't shy away from the grotesque, and there are tender moments woven through an epic saga about terrible people desperately seeking connection and meaning. I don't think I've ever read anything like in any fandom ever. I don't know if I ever will.

I love me three things in a Sephiroth story: 1) a Sephiroth that subsumes Jenova 2) Terrifying Sephiroth 3) Sciency Sephiroth. Told from the rotating perspective of terrifically flawed Gast, an in-character badass Aerith, and a Sephiroth that I can definitely see being the progeny of two insane scientists and a space alien.

Our Shining Past by Tocasia FFN | Ao3 @tocasia

A series of old-style (original game mostly, no CC) Sephiroth and Zack Friendship stories (all genfic) from a list of 100 prompts, in order of completion. Variously dark, silly, cute. Mostly one-shots; chapter format is a lie. Same AU? maybe… or maybe not. Halfway there on 7/1/2018!

Consider this blanket recommendation of all of Tocasia's works. Pair impeccable writing with nuanced characterization, humor, action, excellent integration of the game-mechanic style worldbuilding that is so rare in video-game fics, and you've got this series of one-shots. Zack's character is so much more interesting to me pre-crisis core, and unfortunately fics that explore what canon jossed 15 years ago are slim or mostly gone from the internet. Other favorites of mine from them include God of Paperwork and The World that Will Never Be, a Kingdom Hearts crossover.

AR Ending for Nibelheim Incident. After Hojo fished him out from Nibelheim Mako Reactor, Sephiroth sets about cleaning up the mess. Preferably before the chemical imbalance in his brain drowns him for good.

Ugh, this story need so much more love than it's gotten. I'm a slut for stories that play around with the relationship between Lucrecia, Vincent, and Sephiroth, and take it in a true canon divergence! Excellent visual writing, and fast paced. Unfortunately, all the images are broken.

This Family Is Alright by axilet

A series of stories exploring the dysfunctional dynamic between mad science sibs Gast, Hojo and Lucrecia, and their son Sephiroth who they're completely unfit to raise. Just imagine what the poor kid will be like once he's all grown up. Sad Uncle Vincent tries to stage an intervention but you know how that turns out.

An oldie but goodie that I first encountered on FFN some years ago now, but I misplaced the link; now archived on ao3. How To Train Your Super Soldier Son (to become an insane destroyer of worlds) is the Sephiroth-centric fic of the series, and also the first one I read.

They Were Monsters by Yinza @yinza

In the midst of his breakdown in the Shinra mansion and desperate for answers, Sephiroth breaks open the locked basement door to find the man who might be his father… But though Vincent presents him with possibilities he hadn't imagined, Sephiroth struggles with who to trust, and what path he might follow--Jenova's, or his own.

Yinza is another ruler of horror. Actually maybe I'm just a slut for horror there's a lot of those recs on this list lol. Anyway, this fic is so well-written. If a sense of creeping dread is the sensation you seek, look not further than this story. For a not-Sephiroth centric rec, I must include their story No Moms Die, which according to my ao3 history I have 32 times @_@. If we exclude the chapter updates, I've reread it more than times since it finished :D It's that good.

Ahh I was obsessed with Angel's Wings while it was updating, and To Be Human and it's compilation side stories blew the first story out of the water. The worldbuilding! The writing! The jump straight into action! The CANON DIVERGENCE!!! We all read fanfic here, we all know how rare an actual 'canon divergence' story is that actually sticks within canon without being a lazy rehash? This story is THE fix-it.

Be Not Afraid by Tiffany_Park On FFN

Hollander to Angeal: "Jenova's power has passed on to you completely." What does it mean to have received "Jenova's power"? Chances are it's not pretty. (Yeah, it was pretty ugly in Crisis Core. It's worse in this AU because Hojo got involved.) Warning: These are horror stories. Check the tags and take them seriously.

I prefer to read this series on FFN because yay for giant font but I've linked the AO3 since it puts the series in order. I live for everything this woman writes. This series takes the body-horror in canon and amps it up to 11. From Zack's POV but the Sephiroth characterization is just *chefs kiss*. Unsettling and blue-and-orange morality kind of ride of die friendship love for the win.

Snowball Effect by Tiffany_Park On FFN

Once upon a time in his youth, Angeal posed as the centerfold for an obscure porn magazine. When he made SOLDIER First Class, Shinra decided to erase its history for PR reasons. A few years later, Reno and Rude find an old copy in a used bookstore and purchase it so it can be safely destroyed. This results in many more complications than if they'd just left it to molder there.

If you read that summary and thought, "the premise of this story is utterly ridiculous", you would be entirely correct, but it's not a crack-fic in that it takes this completely seriously and runs with it. Features Shinra Corp. being dastardly, fangirls that fit effortlessly into the 90s sci-fi setting, and wonderful characterization of Angeal, Genesis, and Sephiroth, who all manage to be completely terrifying in their own special ways.

What is Lost by UnLike_Us

What little is left of Sephiroth after 100 years in the Lifestream suddenly finds itself without a purpose. Determined to find its lost history and reason behind its obsession, it goes back to where it all started.

One of the fluffier picks on this list, the author really plays with the idea of inner memories. A time-travel fic I don't hate lol, if only because the time travel doesn't result in an OP fix-it.

11 year-old WMD Sephiroth is assigned a new handler/bodyguard, named Vincent Valentine. I am sure this has been done 10000 times but I can't stop thinking about it, so here's my version.

As the author says in the summary, I too am a slut for murder-baby Sephiroth, and this is one iteration of the trope I've reread many times. Another Sephiroth fic from the same author I enjoyed is First Soldier.

Zack's limit break always mimics people who end up shaping his life in one way or another. Once he's met them, he can use a break similar to one of theirs, no problem. This time, there is a problem: He's mimicked someone with the power to blow up a solar system, and he has no idea how to control it. He'll have to track them down, and hopefully get them to take an active role in not just teaching the limit break, but his entire life.

This fic is crack to me. I've been salivating over every update since chapter 3. DyraDoodles has another more popular series Redux Hero AU, which I also enjoyed, but that one is much more Zack-centric and so not a good fit for this list; I rec it nonetheless.

Sephiroth Shinden: CLASSIFIED 'PROJECT S.' by goddamnitaisha

A series of one-shots exploring Sephiroth's life. One of the most no-woobie takes of Sephiroth's character, which I really, really like. Paired with an almost bleak writing style, the blunted amorality of the characters really shine through in each one-shot. A favorite of mine. Ao3 users only, unfortunately, but the author has a tumblr @goddamnitaisha. Her blog is truly gorgeous and definitely worth checking out! Not Sephiroth-centric but I really love The Unpromised Land. That's the first story I read from her on tumblr a long ass time ago.

Final Fantasy VII Remake (explicitly set within the Remake/Rebirth verse)

The purpose of the Jenova project was to produce a Cetra, someone to negotiate with the Planet on Shinra's behalf. The military applications for the entity were compelling, it's true, but ultimately limited in scope- they have robots for these things, after all- and so the SOLDIER proposal was rejected, quietly shelved away. The asset is instead committed to the significantly more lucrative field of agribusiness, where it is hoped the cultural cache of his mystic heritage will assuage the rise in environmental concerns and planetological sympathies among key interested parties. Sephiroth, Director of Stewardship, tracks down the supplier of the only fresh flowers in Midgar he's had no hand in cultivating, oblivious to the web of time he's threatening. Oblivious to the probability he shares a name with, who longs to crush this flight of fancy and claim his rightful title of certainty, gathering like a cloud on the horizon. Oblivious to the attention he's brought to his local florist's door.

Ugh, remember everything I said I loved about Earthing? This fic is an AU with a similar vibe, completely different premise. I actually recommend you check out all of brilliantKatabasis' library; they truly are an excellent writer.

Sephiroth is not human. There is no doubting that now. He fell in two pieces into the reactor all those many months ago. And yet there he is again. Appearing between one heartbeat and the next, while Zack floats hopeless in Mako. There he is, opening the tanks and setting Zack and Cloud free. There he is, chuckling “there is no rush” and smiling an indulgent smile.

If you like Sephiroth-fic, you've probably been recced Boomchick before. If you haven't, I highly recommend you read all her fics, especially The Trooper Series and Restart. A lot of her stories are accompanied by epic art by tomowowo. Why did this fic make it onto the list and not the rest? Because, and I quote, it gives me the tag "Nightmare Sephiroth chooses friendship." That is epic.

Those Called by the Reunion by EllaEpoche

This fic is a trip @_@. EllaEpoche is one of those authors whose brain cooks up the most insane plots and has the writing talent to back up the wild storytelling. Also recommend Schrodinger's Sephiroth, which explores the multiple timelines introduced in the remake. Ten Thousand Cold Nights also gets a mention here.

Epiphany by Fenrir4life, The_Story_Maker

Sephiroth is looping, repeating the events of Final Fantasy VII over and over again. He has experienced not only the events of the original game and the remake, but many more cycles beyond, stretching into a multitude of similar and yet ever-so-slightly different worlds. Regardless of loss, death, or even victory, he has been unable to free himself from this time loop – or even uncover why he is looping at all. Determining to find answers, he seeks out Aerith Gainsborough to see if he can convince her to interrogate the planet itself for information. However, it turns out Aerith is not completely ignorant of the cycle. Fed experiences by the planet of the events of the original Final Fantasy VII, she has good reason to distrust Sephiroth and his plans. This story revolves around their interactions with each other and the resulting consequences that ripple through this particular cycle.

This is probably my favorite Remake fic. It matches the perfect balance of silliness and action that attracted me to the characters in the first place and hits it with a hefty dose of perfectly written Aeriseph, like you hit the pot with the hot pepper to make the flavor pop. Love it!

I hate high school AUs. But sprinkle some mad science and psycho kids and all of a sudden you have a perfect story. It's like when you don't like a certain fruit but cooked into a pastry that shit is godly? That's this story.

He also says some memories never die.

This thing's got the pacing of an M.Night Shyamalan movie. Love it!

I'm not really too much into shipping, but there is a pairing I like. Ugh, this response is going to sound so cheesy— My favorite ship would have to be Melsoos (Melody x Soos) because of how cute nice they are together, I guess. You can tell that they genuinely love each other. They don't fight or yell or anything of that sort. They're just...good for each other. Like how all couples should be. I wish my parents were. To answer your second question, I really — and I mean seriously — don't like Mabeon (Mabel x Gideon). He's such a creep and I honestly don't know why Mabel hasn't gotten a restraining order. Like, I get goosebumps every time he shows up on screen. The ship's just...ew. It also reminds me of a few "fans" I've had.

OMG, you have no idea who you're talking to!!! 🤩 I'm probably one of the biggest shippers out of everyone working on the show and in the fandom! I can't believe you're asking me to to pick a favorite. This is going to be soooo hard! 😭 There's so much amazing romantic potential between everyone; plus, I'm a multi-shipper, so this is no walk in the park. If it was, I would've brought Waddles. Back to the subject, I'll try to settle on a favorite out of all of the ships. Hmmm... I'll go with... Dipcifica (Dipper x Pacifica)! They're your classic enemies/rivals (to friends) to lovers story! They're so fun to watch interact with each other and are just oozing with romantic potential — especially after Pacifica's redemption.

On the flipside, I would have to say that my least favorite ship would be Wendip (Wendy x Dipper) because Dipper always turns into a sweaty mess around her, which is booooring. And, besides, I feel like it would backtrack on his character development. I mean, he got over his crush on Wendy towards the end of the show, so him suddenly crushing on her again? It doesn't sit right with me and feels offensive to his arc. If character arcs could get offended.

Shipping? I'm sorry, but I'm not one to obsess over ships that much. That's more of Mabel's thing and I'm sure you most likely already received a lengthy response from her on it. If anything, I usually tend to avoid it as a conversation topic. I'll try to answer your questions, but I'm generally neutral with all ships... Except for the occasional ones that I despise with a buring passion, but I'm getting ahead of myself. Out of all of the ships, I guess I would have to say that my favorite one is MysteryOwl (Stanley x Eda) purely because of the fact that it was implied to be canon and means that a crossover is possible between their two respective shows. And I love a good crossover. Also, the idea of them getting together is so unbelievable that I can't help but be drawn to it. Now for the contrary — my least favorite ship. I'm tempted to write "Dipcifica" because of how much Mabel ships it and how often she compares me and Patricia to them, but I would be lying if I went through with it. Plus, I wouldn't be able to spite Mabel with it because she's not the one reading the letter, so it would be pointless. My actual least favorite ship is. Every. Single! Incest! Or! P*do! One! Humanity can be so disturbing and disgusting at times. Sometimes I wonder if an actual Weirdmaggedon would fix how society can be nowadays...

While I'm usually not one for shipping, I have to say that I really like the ship Mabifica (Mabel x Pacifica) because of their dynamic. They started out as rivals — competing against each other at almost every opportunity with Pacifica taunting Mabel — but ended up becoming friends due to Mabel's patience and kindness. Their contrasting personalities can balance each other out and maybe even be used to teach the other a few things. Their chemistry is unique and fun to watch, which makes the ship a good one and my personal favorite. As for my least favorite ship, it would definitely have to be Mabeon (Mabel x Gideon). He treated her terribly, as if she was an object rather than a human being. She deserves someone much better.

Okay, so my favorite ship has to be Fiddauthor (Fiddleford x Stanford). I mean, the idea of the two nerds pining (pun intended) after each other and not realizing it? Oh! Or even better — Fiddleford being hopelessly in love with Stanford, while Stanford also has feelings but doesn't realize them and Fiddleford's? That's some good stuff. It's angsty, it's wholesome, it's dramatic — it's all you want out of a ship. And then how they each just...fall apart after leaving each other? Yeah, they have serious romantic potential. They were just waiting to be turned into a ship. And it's, hands down, the best one, too! It's the only right ship to have as a favorite. That's a hill I'm willing to die on. Try me.

Now for an opinion from the opposite side — my least favorite ship. Only one ship receives this title and that ship is Billford (Bill x Stanford). I know, I know. I'm biased. But, come on! You're asking for my favorite and least favorite ship, I have to be at least a little biased. It's just, I'm not a big fan of enemy lovers or lovers-to-enemies or whatever they would be classified as. The reasoning is quite bluntly there — they're enemies. The most they're going to do in close proximity with each other is murder. Why would I ever ship two people who hate each other to the point they wish death upon the other? I personally don't see it.

You asked the right person, dude (neutral)! I think I might be obsessed with Fiddlestan. You've heard of it, right? The ship between Fiddleford and Stanley? If you haven't, then you're missing out. They're, like, total opposites. Stanley has this tough outside that hides his soft inside, while Fiddleford seems soft on the outside, but can be seriously tough on the inside. Oh, they're my favorite ship, by the way. I didn't state that. Did I have to state that? I don't know. Maybe Mr. Stan will know. I'll have to ask him tomorrow. Oh, I'm getting off track — what was the second question again? Hmm... Oh! There it is! "In addition, what's your least fave ship in the gravity falls fandom?" Dude, if I were to be honest, the there's two ships that hold this position: Soosiffany (Soos x Giffany) and Wenbie (Wendy x Robbie). In both of them, someone is extremely manipulative and toxic and the ships themselves have very little redeeming qualities. At least for Billford, there's some complex chemistry between them. For these two ships, you're just waiting for the one person to leave. They're not cool, dude.

YEAHHHH EXACTLY. i think what irks hiyori so much is the people pleasing attitude, which is a habit ayano really can't shake and even intensifies with hiyori 'cause One, they're family, and that's very important to ayano, and Two, hiyori. is open about her dislike of ayano. which kind of drives ayano Insane.

ayano's The adult in charge of her, technically, and grew up with 3 rowdy younger siblings that She was the one always looking out for, her mom died at a young age and kenjirou was Kenjirou and it is very implied she took over all the household chores, meals, etc. in the sixth novel haruka describes the house as spotless and tidy, the complete opposite of their classroom, so he doubted it was mr tateyama's doing (mekatrio 100% help too btw and i think ayano would welcome it, but never allow them to do more than She does. they kept being robbed of their childhoods, i think this is why the trio are literal menaces when younger while ayano was a naggy older sister at times, despite the basically insignificant age diff. she really wanted to take charge, all things considered)

basically, ayano IS really young, but she's Really used to this dynamic. she wants hiyori to like her, but she will still Make Her Do Stuff... which rich kid hiyori is SO not used to, and also why is this overgrown toddler telling HER what to do? she's what, like 6 years older?? so what!!! my secret sister had a secret kid and now that kid is ordering ME around!?!? she definitely doesn't see ayano as someone in charge of her. and not only that, but she thinks she's a pathetic excuse of an adult and a living doormat. AND NOT ONLY THAT, but if provoked enough, she probably says so. to her face.

so they definitely fall into a dynamic of "you should pick up your room..." "UGHHHH YOU RUIN MY LIFEEEEEEE*DOOR SLAM*" which is very funny but also, begins to really. really. REALLY. GET UNDER AYANO'S SKIN.

surprisingly their biggest bonding moments happen when ayano can't handle it anymore and loses her cool. i think it'd be awesome if ayano like really fucking loses her mind and yells at hiyori and she yells back and they Fight. or hiyori does something really stupid and dangerous and ayano has to get her out of some mess and hiyori's acting all above it like ugh i didnt need you to come get me. and ayano's like YES I DID YOU'RE JUST A KID!!!

but when their dynamic gets to this back and forth, hiyori starts to soften up. because this was the problem. ayano was acting like.... a mom? and hiyori HAD a mom. a really weird one obviously but she does, but she never got to have her sister. so her starting to pointlessly bicker with ayano and sort of... getting Enjoyment out of getting on her nerves is inadvertently what causes hiyori to finally give in.

ayano has no fucking clue what made this change happen, but if hiyori is home then she isn't just shut in her room All the time, she'll sit next to her if she's watching something, maybe entertain her conversations more. they can have ACTUAL, real conversations, where ayano can ask about her grandparents, and hiyori can ask about her sister, and together they're able to put together the puzzle that was ayaka's life.

ayano's nosy attitude still annoys hiyori, and hiyori's dismissive attitude still annoys ayano. sometimes u wanna kill ur sister with hammers but you still love her, and that's how it is. ur honor. i rest my case!

I'm going to hope that the Jay arc will either get resolved this season or it will actually GO somewhere. The fact that Jay appeared in two different roles in s2 and both of those roles were shortlived and . Either way, i hate his new hairstyle

Arin, Sora, and Lloyd have got to be the best relationship dynamic the series put out. to me. Lloyd being a mentor is pretty messy to begin with. It's actually really interesting that he makes mistakes in leading and mentoring because he's trying so hard to emulate Wu bc he loves and idolizes his uncle that much. But despite some of his mistakes it's really obvious he's trying to cater to both his proteges's needs. Sora being really receptive to Lloyd's advice when she was the one initially skeptical of being a ninja. Especially after getting to know each other I don't know, I find the dynamic strain really compelling that Sora and Lloyd were able to connect in a way that Arin wanted to but couldn't.

the comparisons between Arin to Morro and Lloyd to Wu do have a basis but i think that's kind of an colder exaggeration of Lloyd and Arin's dynamic. Lloyd isn't pushing some grandiose expectations onto Arin, actually most of what his interactions w/ him are attempts at being uplifting and encouraging. His only fault might be either not spending enough time with him on training or putting off searching for Arin's family, which, despite the literal plot happening, is still a pretty awful situation to leave Arin in. All that to say is I think. um. Lloyd's not perpetuating any cycles or whatever I think he just can't give Arin what he needs. But clearly the main Lloyd and Sora storyline for this season is about fixing what they messed up with Arin. They're trying <3

Okay so I know they're bringing Morro back (ugh. booooo), I wonder if we're actually going to address all the unpacked trauma the possession left on Lloyd. All I really hope is that it doesn't end in forgiveness haha.

Speaking of Luh-loyd ninjago's various unpacked traumas. DR actually handles his mental health pretty well, though i wish he still had his anger issues lmao. Eventually DR's going to bring back the Oni stuff, and maybe even Garmadon. hope they don't fumble it like crystallized.

I went in to it expecting to be freaked out and it delivered so well.

I was in the mood for a sweet multichapter thing with some hot smut and I was sooooo not disappointed by this. I'm on chapter 8 now, so about halfway through. Marcus is so sweet and precious and still impulsive as ever, but unlike Theresa, reader is right there with him. I really adore that this fic takes place in KY (and it really captures the vibe of Kentucky too) since I'm from there! I very much do not relate to the fact that reader is a marathon runner, but that's okay. I think it's really cool and I love the way they meet and that Marcus isn't fully a white knight? She can take care of herself. Super fucking cute fic ugh. Oh yeah and the smut is to die for jesus christ Marcus is hot.

Gah, you are so so right. 1x08 of BA was a good, strong episode with a good, strong ending. It built the tension up and up and then paid off with such a dramatic end scene. Versus 1x09, which simply... didn't. Probably the closest thing to a climax was Matt and Frank fighting in his apartment, and the energy of the episode just went down from there, settling in a very mid conclusion. That wasn't a finale, it was a S2 prologue. Not to mention how YEAH, basically no payoff from the 1x08 cliffhanger. We got Matt in the hospital for a few minutes and a "I dunno" on why he did it. Laaaaaaame. YOU wrote the plot! You have to write the fallout too! Ugh. But I've kinda abandoned any expectation it'll be (properly) addressed in S2 either. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Fisk MATTERS! He is one of the very, very, very few last Marvel villains on screen with any sort of depth who hasn't been killed off or written out. (What villains who are left and not dead comprise a very short list with basically no guarantee we'll see them again.)

The creative team behind original DD worked so hard fleshing out Fisk's character, and their work has been praised for a decade. Then BA comes in, eradicates most of that depth, but still gets praise for some reason. I swear NO ONE is noticing how Fisk's complexity (even just his intelligence) has been stripped away, and I feel like a crazy person! I also hate them taking away Fisk's good qualities to escalate him as more and more of a pure evil villain because they're not leaving a lot of outlets for resolution where he isn't killed. No thank you!

But yes, equally as important is Matt's relationship with Fisk. And all of the hype and promo material centering around THEM was how BA got me to put on my clown makeup. I think I'm still just... confused over how we got one scene of dialogue. Even when lead-up interviews said, "We're following the trend of minimizing their scenes together so it's more impactful when they do meet," I thought... what, two or three good dialogues maybe? 🤡 They kept trying to manufacture parallels and proximity between Fisk and Matt with the rapidly intercut conversations they had with other people, but it didn't work. The whole season is based off these two characters but they're basically strangers. Even S3 had the genius forethought to have a mental projection of Fisk haunting Matt. Because with only one phone call and one climactic confrontation, they knew it needed more. BA didn't get that memo.

I hate love triangles so much. Very bitter about them. Name a love triangle in a series that worked for the narrative and didn't rip apart its fandom. Creators don't care about that though because it drives up viewership and engagement. And yes, I hate backsliding. Have these ships not lost their window of opportunity in canon? The will-they/won't-they is dead. (Side note and unpopular opinion: Frank is a great character. Maaaaaaybe he should mostly stay in Punisher and let Daredevil be about Matt.)

I wish I could say I'm excited for S2, but... *sigh* I lost a lot of faith with that finale. Like... a lot. They had me for 1x08 (even with its problems). I thought they might do something here. But currently, to me, it looks like an issue of too much budget, too grand of a plot, and writing that just doesn't go hard enough or clever enough. I don't look for these matters to clear up for S2. They're welcome to prove me wrong, of course. 🙏 I am curious about Fisk's match though. Haha. And maybe since Charlie was there, it will have more significance than just Fisk trying to win back constituent positivity. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I heard bakugan and i came running What is your favorite ship (or ships plural) and your favorite headcannon / scenario you picture them to have? Can be TK or non-tk Me personally, two of the only ships I like for Bakugan so far are Spectra/Gus, and Dan/Runo (their dynamic appealed to me since childhood, so partially nostalgic). I don't really have any scenarios or ideas for Dan and Runo aside from playful arguments and whatnot But Spectra and Gus?? Okay, so my favorite ship in the whole shie is Spectra x Gus, obviously, I freaking love it. Some other ships I adore, Shun x Dan, Runo x Julie and Shadow x Mylene. I used to ship Dan x Runo back in the day and I 100% get the appeal! Not for me anymore but I love it!

Aso for scenarios, I have plenty. It tends to always include Spectra, but I have a lot with Dan, too. They're definitely my favs so 😅

I always have this scene of Dan breaking down in front of Spectra after bottling up his feelings for so long to try and be the "Strong Leader." I am in love with their found family potential. I just like the idea of Spectra being the one to see Dan at his lowest and just, not even fully understanding why himself, being so concerned and scared for him he just has to comfort him. It's something I want to write out so bad.

I also desperately want a love confession with Spectra and Gus. Like, the sappiest, awkwardest, nerve-wracking confession with the two being so damn lost on what to do. Like, they clearly have feelings for the other. Everyone else can see it, but they're so damn oblivious. (Also, I headcanon the Resistance taking bets on of they're dating or not, and Mira is the only one who bets against it cause she knows her brother is an oblivious fool.) So I want them to one day have this bonding moment where it clicks for them and they just bumble their way through it until they're blushing messes! Ugh I love those two so much!

I have a ridiculous amount of headcanons and rewrites for the show, lol. It is honestly my favorite show of all-time which is probably sad 🤣🤣

Sirius/Severus/Remus is my guilty pleasure, but only when Sirius and Remus are the ones pining hopelessly after Severus since their school days and being assholes about it because 1) they're teenagers from toxic households and/or traumatic upbringing in the 70s and can't handle their homosexual thoughts, 2) they're adults even more traumatized than before and, while they can handle their homosexual thoughts now, they're very much still assholes about it because it makes them feel better about it

And 3) Severus is oblivious to all of it because his brain can't conceive the mere possibility of those two feeling anything but disdain for him (+he also hates them and would rather jump off the astronomy tower than consider them in a romantic light)

That's the only dynamic in Sirius/Severus/Remus fics that I find acceptable. A bit messy, I know

(Bonus: This creates a tense shift in Sirius and Remus' friendship because, despite what their fans and numerous headcanons provide, I don't think they'll be willing to share their love interest. That would only happen if their rival in question was James)

Hello :^) long time since you asked, I suck If I had a nickle for every time someone said Sirius/Severus/Remus was some sort of 'guilty pleasure' I would have two nickles. Why is this guilty...? Sounds normal to me I talked a little about my thoughts on this ship Here - just one concept of how I think it would go. I'm just gonna ramble more B)

Big agree on Severus not being able to comprehend it. He would think they are trying to mess with him again. Bully him. Take the powerful, intimidating aura he has carefully constructed for himself and make him slip and fall on his face. "rather jump off the astronomy tower than consider them in a romantic light" lol

Remus' flirts are so vague. Some hopeful little comment paired with a nervous gaze from his big wet eyes... Severus is cautiously confused, the intent flying over his head. He snaps back an insulting quip. Remus sighs, frustrated that he can't get his feelings across.

Sirius is far more straight forward: the type to lean against a door-frame, using his height to his advantage, and say something that can't be mistaken for anything but a flirt. Severus treats it like a threat. Like he is about to be dangled upside down again, his pants ripped off. Sirius doesn't realize how smirking and saying 'That doesn't sound so bad~' isn't appealing.

I personally struggle to imagine situations where Remus and Sirius don't have friction, even just as friends. That's the part of their relationship that interests me most: How their friendship has eroded. I do think both being after the same person would erode it more.

Remus has a jealous streak. He thinks Tonks has a crush on Sirius...? He snaps. "UGH... he ALWAYS gets the girls..." Even though he doesn't have the balls to pursue her himself.

Knowing Sirius was after the same man... I mean, its Sirius. He can't win against Sirius in terms of charisma or beauty or... anything!!! I think Remus would curl up into a ball and 'give up'... while also crawling back to try again and again. Every time he does, it reeks of tentative desperation - wanting to appear friendly and meek to Severus, 'I know I scared you when we were kids but I'm not a threat! I will roll on my back for you, please please look at me.'

Sirius, knowing Remus is after the same man... Frustrating. "Look, Mate - let me have this! You had 12 years to make a move...!" Sirius is an emotionally wise and reasonable guy. I actually think as long as he feels secure he would be pretty good at handling jealousy. But he doesn't feel secure: He can't pin Severus down. He can't catch him. The greasy bastard is too slippery. Remus has all the freedom to go and chase him down outside of the house - Sirius has to wait for every time Severus comes to visit, like a goldfish waiting for his flakes.

Desperation of a different kind: He will proactively change tactics like Australian weather - one day soft and sappy, on his knees apologizing, making a show of it... The next day hot and bright, charming smiles, pinning against the wall. Bushfire to flood. He doesn't know what to do because he doesn't really understand Severus, not unless they sit down and have a man-to-man chat. But Sirius is too desperate. He is lonely. It hurts. He isn't very patient.

But... what happens when Severus works out that either of them, maybe both, are... actually sincere? They would have to bare their souls for him. Completely. Severus is a dominating man in general, at least at first - but especially for his bullies. They would need to be on their knees.

Since Severus isn't too fond of them, that opens the door to alot of dom/sub stuff. Severus enjoying grinding his heel in their face... figuratively, and perhaps literally. He thought they were trying to humiliate him, oh ho... no. He is going to humiliate them.

Personally I'm more into sweetness than rough stuff. I don't know if Severus has it in him to say "...I forgive you." - but maybe that is something he could relish, too. Probably easier to say to Remus than Sirius. He can at least recognize that Remus didn't mean to be horrifying - and he can see how he struggles with it.

Time for my second post before the new X-Men 97 episode: opinions on The Plot of the first three episodes!

Overall, I've been having a ton of fun with it. The first episode had a lot of fun parallels to Night of the Sentinels and worked well as a sort of re-introduction to the team. The second episode was intense but juicy. (I do understand the critiques I've seen of Magneto's speech - there are certain parts I think were done well, and I did automatically go 'oh hey they're talking about his Jewish background!' when he started talking so I don't think they...fully...removed it, but other parts of it were confusing and kinda lost the plot and yeah, I agree with what others of have said about the original speech being a lot more direct and powerful) I DO think they are mostly doing Magneto well in that his intensity, his drive to protect mutants, and his relationship with Charles are all still well done and those were all present in the original cartoon as well. Sometimes I almost wanted him to go villain mode more lol just because it's always impressive and sometimes the human characters are KIND OF ASKING FOR IT. I do wonder if he will stay on the hero side from now on or if he'll eventually end up a villain again - I could see it going either way for this show!

For episode 3, it was a RUSH but it was a fun rush! The horror was spooky, the action solid, and there were some really cool emotional beats as well. It...definitely would have worked better as a 2-4 episode story arc, because some of those plot beats would have been SO GOOD with more room to breathe. And it definitely ran into my pet peeve of 'the only explanation to some of this is "uhh well it happened in the comics"' which I never like - why was she called the Goblin Queen in this version? It's a pretty specific title that didn't have anything to do with her powers or motivation or anything. Or was there a reason she chose the name Madelyn Pryor in this version? Who knows. I do think if you HAD to fit a whole arc into one episode, this was the best it could be done, but I still wish they simply had more episodes in the season to tell their story (like, 24 instead of ten). Because yeah, each episode has felt like a one-shot almost, but not in a normal bottle episode way, in a 'each episode is one arc unto itself', with just certain character threads carrying over.

This isn't a huge issue for me since when I first heard there was ten episodes in the season I went 'oh yeah, this is gonna be a huge mess'. xD So my standard is 'if it's a FUN mess I'll be fine with it, since I love these characters and am excited to see more content with them - and maybe if it's big enough future seasons could have more eps'. And it has definitely been a fun mess so far!

ALSO I AM EXCITED TO SEE A STORM ARC. Her losing her powers is UGH, but I know it's gonna be a whole Thing and so it will be cool to see her get more focus. I also really liked seeing her friendship with Jean! There was not enough varied team friendship duos originally for me, and what they got going seems really nice.

AND MISTER SINISTER IS BACK. I do think he's a very intimidating villain, so I am curious to see what they do with him and what kind of character dynamics it brings out in the heroes. :O

All in all, I have my critiques and quibbles, but I am HYPED and still having a good time!

I continue to be very autistic for my own OC, so here's some headcanons and silly stuff regarding Winifred's feelings and relationships with other Genshin characters :3

Tartaglia

COME ON YOU ALREADY KNOW I HAD TO START WITH MY LITERAL FAVORITE CHARACTER AND MAKE HIM INTEGRAL TO WINIFRED'S STORY

Oh their relationship is very complicated indeed, enemies to lovers type deal

Actually more like friends to crushes to betrayal to Winifred being scared shitless of him for awhile while he tries to charm his way back into her heart type deal

Okay but before all of that, they were joined at the hip for the majority of Winifred's stay in Liyue during the whole Morax murder situation

Winifred definitely didn't trust him at first, but his strange personality absolutely won her over very quickly

Low-key she was too blinded by her crush to realize how sketchy he actually was

But that's okay because he ended up really liking her back on accident

This man spoiled her while they were in Liyue. Where do you think she got the silk flower from?

HE JUST KEPT BUYING HER SNACKS CAN YOU BLAME HER FOR FALLING FOR HIM????

His nickname for her is "Stormy" and while she hates that nickname now, she'd low-key give anything to hear it in an endearing way again

Tartaglia being Tartaglia, he absolutely used that nickname against her when they fought in the Golden House

But Tartaglia being Tartaglia, battle is a weirdly intimate thing for him and though betraying Winifred hurt a little bit for him, he's trying so hard to understand the pain it caused her so he can make things right again

He keeps writing her letters and addressing her as "Stormy" in them, and sending her snacks from Snezhnaya HE'S TRYING OKAY??

She'd never admit it, but she misses his scarf. She'd always try to steal it to wear it when they were in Liyue

She has a habit of wagging her tail when she's happy or blushing, and because she wears a fricking bell on the end of her tail, her crush on him was far from subtle

But that's okay because he finds the tail wagging to be cute

GOD THE ANGST BETWEEN THEM IS SO PALPABLE PLEASE-

Kaeya

KAEYA AND WINIFRED ARE BESTIES OKAY

She doesn't make the best drinking partner thanks to her low tolerance, but that does not stop her from trying to one up Kaeya every time

She just keeps falling over after like 2 drinks and Kaeya finds it absolutely hilarious

Kaeya is Winifred's mentor, but seriously, you would never be able to guess with how much they just hang out and drink together like besties

She actually used to have a big ass crush on Kaeya before she met Tartaglia because UGH

UNREQUITED LOVE Y'ALL

He loves her in his own way, just not romantically

But that's okay, she got over her crush and is just thankful to have him in her life

No but seriously, these two would die for one another

He's actually extremely protective of her, especially after the Liyue shenanigans

Sort of a "Anything you do to her, I'll do to you" type thing

Meanwhile Winifred is just adorable trying to be a little mini Kaeya

Even though she uses a polearm, she tries to mimic Kaeya's movements with a sword in combat

It's adorable because she also tries to mimic his posture and poses to look intimidating

BUT SHE'S TINY AND HE KEEPS USING HER AS AN ARMREST HELP

One of her favorite things is stargazing with Bennett, Razor, and Fischl, and Kaeya will do his best to join them if his knightly duties allow him the time to do so

And of course, these two are a dynamic duo when it comes to messing with Diluc

Kaeya taught her well >:3

He also has a nickname for her, "Winnie," and she hates it

Seriously, she tries to jump him every time he calls her that

It's a love kind of hate tho

Bennett, Razor, and Fischl

Oh no, these guys are fun

Winifred would kill everyone in Teyvat for these three, she loves them to pieces

She was brought into the Guild at a young age, a few years older than Bennett, so they bonded HARD

She does not care for whatever unluckiness Bennett is cursed with, she will join him on any adventure at any time

THAT IS BASICALLY HER ADOPTIVE BROTHER SHE ADORES HIM AND WANTS TO PROTECT HIM

SHE LITERALLY WEARS A YELLOW BANDANA AROUND HER TAIL LIKE THE ONE BENNETT HAS ON HIS ARM

Doesn't matter that Fischl has a family to go home to, these guys grew up together and Winifred sees her like a baby sister

She is more than happy to indulge in Fischl's fantasy roleplays, often playing the role of big scary dragon villain for her cuz omg

Winifred is low-key bros with Oz too, they babysit Fischl together

And Razor oh my God, Winifred took him in with open arms so fast

The poor kid needs attention 24/7 and fits in just right with the rest of the crew

They're all just a bunch of misfits who have each others' backs okay?!?!

Oh and you know damn well they meet up at the Cat's Tail to hang out with Diona and play Genius Invocation

Literally none of them are good at the game but who cares they're having fun

They're Winifred's closest sense of family in Mondstadt so seriously if any harm happens to these kids, someone is going missing

I can't believe I missed out on Lockwood and co bc I thought it's another silly monster hunting in victorian London show. It's such a good show (and it's a book adaptation!)

I absolutely love the world they're in. More wordbuilding should make use of "modern world but something went wrong along the way"

It's modern but the technology is kinda backwards, they have no smartphones (I personally dislike phones in fantasy settings so I'm really happy) and have to do research in the library, THEY USE SPADES WHICH IS SO COOL, like YEAH why not make swords relevant again, it's fantasy and they are great and it makes the world feel so original and real bc of that.

Also the whole economy (?) of the world, that young people are the only ones that can sense the ghosts so they're being used to protect everybody else (and die along the way but it's called a noble sacrifice, of course). It's so messed up. Which makes it so compelling.

All the politics between the different kinds of agencies and teasing with conspiracy theories that there's something the agents don't know about was also great (and it would probably be even better in season 2 if the show wasn't canceled)

I loved Lockwood, Lucy and George. Especially the fact that they're all crazy in some way and you can see that. Lockwood with his reckless plans, Lucy with her compassion to ghosts and George with his social awkwardness. They're all so lovely and love each other so much it warms my heart.

Characters and plot related thoughts under the cut

Tbh I thought George was gonna die pretty quickly bc characters like him (third wheels to another characters that have a dynamic that's more focused on) are often created to die for shock value, so it was interesting that he didn't and moreover, his plot line was dedicated to showing that he feels like a third wheel and how he deals with that which led to him befriending (?) that older woman. What the hell was that. This whole relationship made me so uncomfortable (which was most likely the point but still UGH)

Before I watched the show I saw some Kanej and Locklyle comparisons and yeah, they're pretty similar on first look but I'm so glad that's where it ends. I love both Kaz and Inej but Lockwood and Lucy are their own characters.

Lockwood is a genius but he relies more on his charisma than longtime planning. He would never get the reputation Kaz has. He's got big ego, he's self-sacrificial, he doesn't have trouble with showing his people he cares about them.

Lucy is so much different than Inej that I won't even compare them. She's great on her own, I wanna hug her and I'd trust her with my life.

I can't believe they ended the season just before showing us what's in Lockwood's room. My guess was that it's gonna be his parents in some form (bodies/sources) but I guess I'll go read the books now to find out

this ended up being way longer than i expected (again) LOL

to start off, i love how they're in this gray area of managing to pick up on each others hints but still not fully on each other's level with things, like there's still a few (really important) things they need to iron out ---relationship status, what they both want out of this, etc. basics really. but they're also at a point where i'd call it inevitable. but at the same time AGH omg. a lovely level of frustration. ryujin thinking the posts yeji made weren't for her....i need to smack her omg.

one thing i really really love about the way you write them (in all your works but i feel its to a greater extent in nmau because it has more time to actually dig in to these things given that its a slowburn) is just this overarching relationship dynamic where all ryujin has to do is say "yes" and yeji will meet her as far as she's willing to let her... which ofc is not to say that there's no effort on ryujin's part, but ive noticed that ryujin tends to be the one that requires more...coaxing so to speak, when you're writing longer stories about them getting together. and i love this! i think it's a very good bit of characterization (for both of them) and it's not exactly the same over all of your works which just makes me love to see it even more than i already do.

the way yeji "places the ball in ryujins court" as you put it, just really hammers it in, the way that yeji will implicitly say "ok, im here, whenever you're ready". it's in the way she stops as soon as ryujin is uncomfortable when they were kissing the first time, in the way she watches and waits for ryujin to come to the bed, these little bits of opening the door but not forcing ryujin into a decision she might not be ready to make. ugh ITS SO GOOD. + like on top of that i think you write yeji in a way where its obvious like.. even though she literally would give ryujin the world if she asked for it, she still will make sure that she herself is feeling okay about everything and that by doing it she's not totally ignoring her own emotional needs + all that. if that makes sense, i feel like the way im phrasing this makes rj seem really passive but THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEAN u know what i mean, right. like it definitely goes both ways but. yeah. i saw it a lot in balcony au and choreo au as well, just got me thinking a bit. anyway,

some misc stuff from the rest of the chapter:

really great to see how ryujin felt about the events of winter break, i really love ur split povs, u balance each character voice so well.

i love ryujin and yunas friendship in this, i don't think ive mentioned that before but its really good

they did it! and it only took them 11 chapters wow. i honestly like how this was a bit more on the emotional side rather than outright explicit fucking which like! is still great dont get me wrong, but i think it's very fitting for this particular instance.

yes yes yes i know what you mean!!! i’m so glad you’ve picked up on and appreciate the way i do the relationship and the characterization there (and that it’s working in general!) you put it really well like, yeji (irl and when i write her) is such a freaking observant person. like you can see the way she watches people, sees when people are uncomfortable, etc. ryu is such an internal and sensitive person and a deep thinker and feeler, and i just love the way those two ways of being match up like “i know how i feel, and i see that you’re figuring yourself out in that way you do, so i’m here for you and i’m gonna be steady through your process” or something idk i’m rambling. but yes! yeji will still protect herself and her own feelings. like, yes, she’s not 100% doing that in feeling that ryu doesn’t want what she wants, but i think part of her can feel the way they really are on the same page (and that ryu would never want to hurt her)
