astrology notes: 11 🌊
quick note: i'm absolutely not an astrologer. these are just a collection of some observations, thoughts, theories, and personal experiences. with that being said, i'm still learning along the way & i may come back to edit this post to make corrections. above all this is just for fun. lastly, keep in mind that i’m not reading your birth chart and i know nothing about you. these are just some possibilities that may or may not apply to you. enjoy!
✿ aquarius in the 1st house (composite): people may be surprised to you see two together as a couple. this can be because you don’t look like you’d be attracted to each other or because your personalities are different. maybe you guys have been friends before so your families/mutual friends didn’t see it coming. and perhaps you & your partner didn’t expect it either and it came as a surprise, something unexpected. a friends to lovers type of relationship. and although people may be surprised at your relationship they may see that the two of you get along really well, probably always laughing and talking to each other.
✿ neptune in the 2nd house: these natives may have recurring moments where they lose money or it just suddenly disappears even though they’re certain they remember exactly where they put it. may also experience money missing from their financial accounts.
✿ lilith in the 2nd house: can indicate someone who is sneaky, stealthy, & sly like a fox, good at stealing things and rarely getting caught. probably have a history of stealing and could have been doing this since they were young.
✿ lilith in the 3rd house: may have road rage and can be someone who doesn’t respect the traffic signs nor traffic lights. the type to make a u-turn when they’re not supposed to, run a red light, or go above the speeding limit. possibly the types that got into fights in their earlier years in school.
✿ lilith in the 4th house: may be embarrassed or ashamed of their family or their mother in particular. they may not like it when people come over their house and especially do not feel comfortable inviting their friends/partner over. their family may be overbearing, lacking social awareness, vulgar, messy, etc. this placement kind of reminds me of elizabeth and her family, the Bennets, from the movie pride and prejudice (2005 version).
✿ there are so many factors to look at considering your appearance in astrology. i have the features of my rising sign and although im not a libra rising, i’m very libra/venus dominant. i’m a libra sun/venus, my sun is at 7° (libra degree), i also have a libra stellium in my natal chart and in multiple persona charts, it just goes on and on. with that being said, i have dimples and so many freckles, beauty marks, and birth marks all over my body and basically on every body part. so don’t just look to your rising sign. check your dominant planet/sign, your venus sign, the degree of your rising/venus sign, your ascendant/venus persona chart, along with any planets in your 1st house because they can all have an influence on your appearance.
✿ when it comes to words, i’ve noticed that gemini tends to double check the definitions of words to make sure they're using it correctly. they like to expand their vocabulary and using that vocabulary in their day to day speech or to appear smart & they talk a lot, quite extroverted. virgo tends to be more pedantic, correcting others for an error in pronunciation/spelling, there’s an emphasis on on grammar and they may flash their impressive vocabulary to show you how stupid you sound, at work/business meetings, or when they’re being sarcastic. they're both ruled by mercury, but i think geminis like to talk more than virgos. virgos appear bashful and quiet/introverted but they have their moments when they are feeling talkative.
✿ sun in the 4th house: these natives may stand out in their family in some way. their skin tone may be lighter than the rest, may be the smartest one, the tallest one, the popular one.
if you have siblings with sun in the 4th you might get compared to them a lot, people/your family highlights the qualities that your sibling has which are the ones you don’t have or maybe they point out how they’re better than you at certain things.
✿ chiron in the 4th house: may have felt like an ugly duckling, an outcast in your family, like you don’t fit in. omg just thought of meg from family guy as i was typing this. could have been treated like cinderella was by her stepfamily.
✿ aquarius moon: may enjoy or find comfort in watching wholesome videos or reading/listening to wholesome stories or news reports. the ones with acts of kindness & generosity, humans treating each other the way they should, the ones that “restore your faith in humanity.”
✿ people with gemini or aries placements tend to be impulsive or quick to react, especially with aries who can be intense & temperamental, or someone who is uranus dominant who can be quite unpredictable and capricious. but if you have pluto in the 1st house you may have great self control. you might be livid or scared on the inside but you have a poker face on the outside. this doesn’t mean you don’t react but you delay the reaction, you wait a little longer to see how things develop and decide whether a reaction is warranted or not.
✿ libras appreciate manners & respectful people so they may not be a fan of cursing and vulgar language. this is contrary to their sister/opposite sign aries who probably curses often and uses indecent words when talking. for libras it makes them cringe, for aries it can be a form of verbal, emotional, and self-expression.
✿ pisces love it when it rains. they find it soothing & dulcet. the change in atmosphere is something they can really feel & it’s comforting. they’re the types to listen to sad music when they’re sad, so the gray skies & dark clouds only makes everything better. taking a walk or being outside on the porch or balcony as it rains can be refreshing & purifying for pisces. laying in bed cuddling or falling asleep to the raindrops feels like bliss.
^ meanwhile sun dominants may hate it when it rains because the atmosphere looks too gloomy & dismal to them. and things could get windy, muddy & messy which makes them want to avoid going outside altogether.
✿ lilith in gemini: these individuals are quick thinkers & are good with words, they know how to be persuasive which makes them good liars, they can create clever lies on the spot. while this can make them appear untrustworthy, for these natives lying could have been a survival mechanism. they may have been subject to tense, controlling, and traumatic environments & people which may have made them feel like they couldn’t be themselves nor speak their truth. doing so may have resulted in more pain and suffering and to avoid or at least reduce that, they turned to lying to protect themselves.
✿ netpune in the 8th house: probably aren’t afraid of death and may even look forward to going to the other side (i’m not talking about suicidal thoughts). or they might wish to die in their sleep when the time has come. they may have a tendency to imagine gruesome things like strange/dark creatures & they might experience vivid nightmares that feel real. would probably be really good at creating morbid art.
✿ scorpio mars/venus: may be mean to their partner, not really in a serious way but in a teasing way. but trust me, underneath the little attitudes & the teasing they are in loveee. they care for their partners so deeply and just want to drown in them.
✿ moon in the 7th house: they don’t like when people are mad at them or when there’s strife in their relationships. it makes them feel emotionally uncomfortable which can lead to the native worrying and obsessively thinking about what went wrong. they’ll try to talk it out, perform acts of kindness, or other things to get the person to forgive them or to resolve any issues. this is another placement that may be too forgiving or tolerant in relationships as well.
✿ cancer: may be a very patriotic individual and so they may have the desire to go to war or fight for their homeland/country in some way like getting into politics for the sake of their country. they may feel a strong connection to their family, their background/history, and the land their family came from. could be the type to rep their flag and culture loud and proud. may want to give back to their country or the people there. tradition is important and they plan on keeping family/cultural traditions alive and/or even creating some of their own.
✿ 6th house synastry: gather around the fireplace my loves, were gunna talk about this synastry because often times it’s either disregarded, underappreciated, or seen as ominous. because of this i’ll mainly be talking about the positives and the favorable possibilities. warning, this is section is lowkey long af. with 6th house synastry you get a feel for how well a person can fit into your life. because the 6th house has to do with daily life, routines, and schedules, this is such an important aspect in a relationship. the person you have 6th house synastry with could possibly think you make their daily life so much better. and if you are apart of their daily life, then there’s potential for you to be a big part of their life or to be in their life for many years. this doesn’t automatically mean this person will be a co-worker, employee, or employer, but if you can see, interact with, and develop relationships with the people you work with on a pretty daily basis for years, even 10+, then the same can apply to the those who aren’t co-workers, etc. but you still have 6th house synastry with them.
who knows, animals may bring you two together. could meet at the dog park, the vet, at an animal shelter or pet store. you guys may get pets together and it could feel like that pet is apart of your relationship/family. perhaps you two met at the hospital/doctor’s office, or when you happened to visit their place of work.
this person may look forward to seeing or speaking to you everyday. you can become apart of their routine, your presence can feel so natural that it feels like something is missing or different when you’re not around, when they haven’t heard from you, when you didn’t go out for your daily coffee together, when you miss dinner, when you’re traveling or away from home they can really feel it and miss you.
schedules are also important, such as work schedules. with unfavorable planets and aspects they might work a night shift but you may work a morning shift, or somehow your schedules clash. or sleeping schedules which can determine the rest of your day. for example they may be a night owl and you may be an early bird which means you may not get to sleep with each other often, can eat breakfast at different times, while you feel the most productive and energized they may feel the least productive or they’re just trying to unwind. almost functioning on different time zones.
but with favorable planets and aspects and such, this can bring so much harmony, connection, and understanding to the relationship. things flow. those moments when you’re sleeping together, get to just spend hours in bed, cuddling, making/having breaskfast together, knowing exactly what they like to eat, doing your morning/night routines together. a lot of the things are in the details but they’re still significant and can contribute to forming a bond. there’s more time to spend together and wanting to be near each other either doing something together or on your own but still next to each other. there’s a sense of familiarity and comfort.
there’s so much care and attention in 6th house synastry. your partner wants to put you at ease, making sure you’re okay, that you’ve eaten, you’re in a good mood. they’re supportive. they remember the important and little things about you. your likes and dislikes. you know those games where you and your partner answer questions about each other/your relationship? you guys would probably be good at that. when you’re sick they wanna do anything they can to help and alleviate your pain & discomfort. the type to never wanna leave your side until you’re well again. your well-being is a priority for them.
the 6th house is ruled by virgo which is ruled by mercury and the 6th house relates to the conscious mind as well. so with 6th house synastry, you may be someone that’s always on their mind, they find themselves thinking about you throughout the day. wondering what you’re doing, how you’re doing, the next time you’ll hang out, how much they love you, etc.
sex can also be a big part of your relationship. for a lot couples, sex is important and even a deal breaker. this doesn’t necessarily have to do with one’s performance in bed but rather the sexual experience as a whole and how they connect with each other during the act. for a lot of people sex is more than just sex and in the 6th house this can be a daily/frequent thing. you guys might like showering together. and because 6th house is the house of service, depending on the signs/planets in the 6th house there can be a dom/sub type of dynamic, not just in sex though. your partner may be more dominant or have submissive traits in the way they approach life and go about doing things.
since the 6th house considers physical health, exercising may be something you like doing together & perhaps helping each other stay healthy and on top things. there’s self-improvement here but in synastry there can be improvement and progress within the relationship too. creating common goals & plans with each other, and if you’re doing these things together, surely you must see them in your life in the future. 6th house also talks about habits and you might be a good habit, something that is so good for them and their life, possibly even addicting or healing. with taurus in the 6th you can make them feel grounded and you bring stability to their life. with leo in the 6th you can bring fun, a burst of energy or happiness to their everyday life.
if they’re headed out to the store, food shopping, running errands or whatever, they might want you to come with them and you guys can have fun doing simple things like that. the type of partner that might be sitting with you or watching you while you put your makeup on/get dressed, helping you choose an outfit. don’t forget, acts of service is considered a love language for a reason! and relationships don't only consist of romance, going on dates all the time, staring in each other's eyes saying i love you every 4 seconds (hey scorpio 😘😂), but there's a more realistic & practical side as well.
mars in the 6th can bring passion, sex, desire, and determination. your partner can be a source of motivation. and i get that mars is a malefic planet, but every planet/sign can come with pros and cons whether it be benefic or malefic, and there are also favorable/unfavorable aspects, retrograde planets, etc.
venus in the 6th can bring affection, beauty, attention, love/romance, and pleasure. they may also help you with your self-love. acts of service may be a primary love language but remember signs matters to. with taurus venus it may be acts of service + physical touch.
or with gemini venus it may be acts of service + words of affirmation.
moon in the 6th here can bring an emotional connection, considering their feelings and what’s meaningful to your partner, someone who relieves your stress. may help you cope with your emotions in better ways.
plus, the 6th house won’t be the only house with planets in it. so having a synastry chart with 6th house energy coupled with that 8th house synastry ya’ll love, or even 5th house or 7th house energy may be really nice to have.
i see 6th house synastry described as unromantic and while i agree that the themes of the 6th house aren’t related to love, i still see it as a house with themes that can establish a very good foundation for a relationship and it can help develop a bond, and greatly contribute to intimacy and a close connection.
if you read the whole 6th house synastry section here’s an extra heart for you ♥︎, because you really read all that lol. i appreciate you! but hopefully this was helpful, encouraging, and i hope this brought a sweet & supportive perspective to this synastry.
if you read this until the end i hope you enjoyed it & thank you so much for reading. ♥︎♥︎♥︎, those hearts are for you.

ESCAPING INTO A SHIP
So what exactly made me latch onto the Sydcarmy ship like a leech on a water buffalo?
It was unexpected (for me)! Yes, the very first meeting between Syd and Carm did make an impact. I thought "Oooh, what's this?!" However, Carmy was/is such a mess that I quickly dismissed it. And Sydney just seemed to want his professional approval and a partner in making something great after the soul-crushing failure of Sheridan. So, the first season I personally didn't feel a mutual sexual/romantic tension, more like an automatic respect and shared goals/passions. Sydney nor Carm were obviously trying to flirt. Most slow burns on TV are 100% obvious like a Jeanine and Gregory (Abbott Elementary), Nick and Jess (New Girl), Jake and Amy (Brooklyn 99), Jim and Pam (The Office)...Until Braciole Ep. 8 that is.
S. 1 Episode 8- I won't get into everything but Carmy was desolate. Yes, he became a psycho chef and two people quit in Ep.7. However, he mourned Sydney more than Marcus. She was in his flashback/nightmare (?), then the way he told Tina that she looked like Syd (the poor pup), him texting her before opening the note from Mikey, and finally the most gorgeous locked gaze scene since Pride and Prejudice (2005). The soft lighting, the music, the colors, the mind-reading...magical. I still didn't get it initially. Silly, blind me.
Mentorship where??? Season 2 Carm and Syd's "mentorship" dynamic is pretty much over. They are true partners and spending more time together. They're dressing alike even when not in uniform, finishing each other's sentences or talking in unison. Sydney is opening up more of herself and Carm is asking to know more. They use the ASL sign for sorry with each other and no one else until ep 10. Then there's that locker scene in ep. 1 or 2, when they almost hang out just cause. However, Carmy misses the moment and there's the return of the kicked pup face. Before being on the ship I was delighted with all of their scenes and was looking forward to the food tour. They just ROCK together on screen.
Classic Love Triangle- Who's Claire? She's "Claire Bear", the prototypical "cool girl", who is willing to chase an socially awkward, wrong-number-giving man, despite being a pretty ER resident with no shortage of options. Did a CW writer get hired? Anyways, why was her presence used almost exclusively to put strain on Carmy and Sydney's relationship instead of The Bear generally? We could have had scenes with Nat, Richie, and Marcus arguing with Carmy about him being distracted due to Claire. They saved 99% of that for Sydney. They CHOSE to insert her in between or just after scenes with him and Claire. Showing Sydney's tattoos and her getting dressed with the stained chef's coat juxtaposed with them was WILD.
I LOVE that both believe their interpersonal problems are solely about The Bear/business partnership. In most "slowburns" the characters are far more conscious and actively work to keep things platonic. Jeremy might be a smidge aware that Sydney means more to him after the panic attack, but I bet he's shoved it down. All he knows afterward is that being with Claire feels wrong hence ignoring her call and recommitting to SYDNEY. He could of said "You all/This/The Bear deserve my full focus etc..." He was also nagged into greeting Claire at Friends and Family, seemed anxious when Fak brought her up right before The Table scene, and also while explaining that "she's great" to Sydney. He was at peace when focused on Sydney in the moment below.
The actors: Jeremy and Ayo's real life friendship is warms my soul and their chemistry onscreen is amazing. DON'T WASTE IT!!!
Jeremy smolders on screen. I want to see Carmy continue to stare, yearn, fall, then eventually confess and for Sydney to reciprocate his feelings. Anyhoo, does anyone else melt when Carm means business?! They do this twice in season one and it's not good for me. Whew, I need to clean my whole house or run a few miles.
Finally, there's so many other parallels between these two. They are fearful avoidants, have a missing or dead parent, jacked up stomachs, use sarcasm, but are generally very earnest, they struggle with anxiety, are compassionate, are perfectionists, peace-makers, give people multiple chances, are workaholics...so much more. A lot of that is also ME, lol.
Sydcarmy is my Roman Empire. I love them as much as you can fictional characters and they deserve the most tender, angsty, triumphant, romantic best-friends to more love story.

“May I have the next dance?”
Your joyful laughter, shared with your dearest friend, Natasha, abruptly cuts off at the sound of his voice. You blink a few times, as if that will help make sense of the scene before you. The chatter of the ball fades away for the briefest moment.
Mr. Hansen stands stiffly, his spine straight as an arrow, chin held high. His expression holds his ever present disdain and aloofness, but his eyes… For the first time, you're sure you see a hint of uncertainty. It looks rather misplaced on him, especially since he's quite vocal of his own assuredness in practically everything, and yet, there it rests.
“You may,” you hear yourself respond after a pause.
Out of the corner of your eye, you see Natasha’s head turn to you in a snap, no doubt mirroring your internal shock at your reply, but your gaze remains held by the man before you. Mr. Hansen’s shoulders loosen imperceptibly and he nods, giving you a quick bow and waiting for your polite curtsy. He lingers, looking as if he wants to say more before he seems to think better of it and finally leaves.
As soon as she deems it alright, Natasha is dragging you behind her hastily, leading you to a more quiet corner in a different room, whirling around to face you with her eyebrows almost reaching her hairline.
“What have I done?” you whisper in a panic.
She raises one of her hands to cover her amused grin. A stifled giggle from her makes you let out a hysterical one of your own, and then the dam breaks. You're back to laughing together, though for an entirely different reason this time.
“Perhaps you will enjoy your time with him,” she suggests playfully.
You groan in protest through your smile. “But I don't want to enjoy my time with him.” With a dramatic sigh, you continue, “Though, I suppose it's better than allowing his misery to affect my mood.”
Natasha rolls her eyes. “I dare say he will not be the miserable one during that dance. He could surprise you, you know,” she counters, her expression pointed yet kind.
“Somehow I sincerely doubt that,” you reply haughtily, which has her giving you another pointed look that has you laughing. “Come,” you say, “let us find a better hiding spot. I want to keep out of Mr. Collins’ sight so I will not have to dance with him again.”
“That is fair,” Natasha concedes with a grin. “Hopefully we’ll find space near Mr. Wilson and he’ll finally ask me to dance.”
You do not have the heart to tell her that her confidence intimidates him, but you do still silently hope that he will ask anyway.
***
To her delight, Mr. Wilson does ask her to dance, just in time to line up with all the other couples before the music starts. You are among them with your sour-faced partner, Mr. Hansen. There are more than a few envious glares sent your way, though you cannot understand why.
Sure, Mr. Hansen is objectively a handsome man, and he's far richer than anyone else at this ball, but he's also blunt and rude and prideful. He leaves much to be desired with every unwanted conversation you have with him. It's as if he enjoys ruffling your feathers on purpose. Very unbecoming of a gentleman, in your opinion.
“Are you having a pleasant time this evening?” Mr. Hansen asks a minute into your dance, sudden and awkward.
“Quite,” you reply, attempting to maintain civility, but hoping to dissuade conversation.
Mr. Hansen’s brows furrow slightly at your curt response. “I’m glad the merriment is to your liking.”
“I should not think my opinion on the matter makes any difference for you,” you say, eyeing him curiously.
He clenches his jaw, looking away. “Right. Of course.”
The rest of the dance is spent in tense silence. No sooner than the music ends, you are curtsying and attempting to slip past him without having to speak another word. However, one of Mr. Hansen’s many admirers decides to take revenge on you for stealing a dance from him by purposely sticking out her foot to trip you. A gasp escapes you as you lose your balance, yet before you can embarrass yourself completely by falling to the floor, two strong hands catch you by the waist, spinning you around in their stronghold.
Your shocked gaze meets Mr. Hansen’s, his arm warm where it's wrapped around you, as is his other hand on your shoulder as he stabilizes you. His eyes, this time, are full of true concern, of worry. They trace every inch of your face, his so close to yours that you can feel the puffs of his breath across your chin.
“Are you hurt?” he inquires softly.
There's an odd, swirling feeling in your stomach, heat rushing up your neck to your cheeks at his proximity and the unusually gentle way he's handling you.
“I… I’m fine,” you stammer.
He cuts his eyes to whomever stands behind you, his face falling into a familiar and severe scowl. “I believe you owe her an apology for your childish actions.”
You finally manage to pull your stare from him to the accused person. The woman is flushed with shame at having been called out, stuttering through her, no doubt, half-hearted and insincere apology, her eyes flitting to the people watching the scene unfold.
“All is forgiven,” you rush, cutting her off. “Thank you.”
She shifts from foot to foot, pursing her lips unhappily, then finally curtsies and hurries off. Her absence draws your attention back to Mr. Hansen, who is still holding you securely and glaring at everyone else and their prying eyes, shifting them away from the two of you.
“Mr. Hansen,” you start, his head whipping back to you and his grip tightening. You exhale shakily. “I am grateful for your help, but I am sure I can stand on my own now.”
You see the exact second he realizes, his hold relaxing slowly, fingers peeling themselves off of your body as he takes a step back. For whatever reason, you feel wobbly on your feet at the loss of him. Mr. Hansen swallows as he rights his coat, bowing jerkily and turning on his heel to walk away. You watch his hand flex at his side, feeling the phantom touch of it on your shoulder.
Natasha enters your view, Mr. Wilson in tow. Her expression is full of questions, but you find yourself at a loss for any answers, your stomach and heart fluttering in what you can only assume is nerves at the near mishap.
That has to be why, surely.
…Right?

Never having seen the 2005 Pride and Prejudice, we watched it tonight.
It appears in all my ravings of the book and the 1995 mini over the year, the following plot points missed Sean:
Who Wickham is.
That Darcy sabotaged Jane and Bingley.
That Darcy unfucks himself.
Y'all, he cried during the second proposal scene. He does not cry like I cry at movies. This is an achievement.
Many other achievements:
Having Collins having a sweet face and terrible haircut and just being LIKE that.
Collins coming up to Darcy from behind and being SO MUCH SMALLER.
Collins wanting to sit next to his wife. In his weird way, he's a dutiful husband.
CHARLOTTE I LOVE YOU.
That's it. They did right by my girl.
YOU TOO MARY.
I did not know that Donald Sutherland was Mr. Bennett, and my god, he's perfect. A layered performance with kindness, compassion, sarcasm, and a little bit of asshole. Who clearly has affection for his wife. Which I argue the lack of is a weakness in the 1995 mini.
And, Mrs. Bennett in this is much more layered in her approach to everything. Still a bit crass in all the ways and shown to be very unlike her husband in many ways, but not as...flittery as the 1995 version, if that makes sense.
Look, I love the 1995 mini, but the way the Bennetts were portrayed as Mr. Bennett hating his wife and Mrs. Bennett being constantly dizzy with the womanly concerns doesn't match the tone of the book at all, imho.
Bingley is a golden retriever, as it should be.
I love they were like, "We need the most ethereally beautiful person in the world to be Jane. Someone even more strikingly beautiful than Kiera Knightly." I assume Rosamund Pike just appeared from the heavens on gossamer wings.
The dancing scenes were beautiful.
I have many, many more thoughts, but that's good for now. It is an absolutely beautiful adaptation of an absolutely immortal story, and I love it so much.
WAIT ONE MORE: Lizzie's ruffle on the collar calling back to Darcy's neckcloths when they were having moments of connection; ESPECIALLY IN THE LETTER SCENE when Lizzie finds that Lydia has run away. They're both in black. She's got the white collar ruffle. No doubt Lizzie is certain that if she'd accepted Mr. Collins, Lydia would not have been allowed to go to Brighton because she would have secured the house for her sisters through her marriage. And Darcy, fearing another young girl being tricked by Wickham, feeling a duty to fix things because he could have stopped this by just being like, "THIS DUDE'S A CREEP."
Anyway, done now. (YES THE HAND FLEX I KNOW)

Austen asks! 4-24
I don't know if you intended this to be inclusive, but I'll answer them all anyway (skipping over the ones that have already been answered).
6. Favorite movie adaptation
The 1995 Sense and Sensibility. To me, it strikes a good balance between being a good adaptation and making the story accessible to audiences that haven't read the book, and it's one of the few that seems to understand Austen's humor and romance.
7. Favorite Austen couple
Anne and Wentworth. Their personalities balance each other perfectly.
8. Least favorite couple
Colonel Brandon and Marianne are so frustrating to me, mostly because of how Austen writes them. They fall victim to the Marian Halcombe Problem--if you spend the whole book showing a man and woman having tons of conversations and developing a good dynamic as equals, I'm not going to believe that he's in love with her sister.
9. Most hated foe of a heroine
Isabella Thorpe is a terrible person, and I can't think of any redeeming qualities or circumstances.
11. Least favorite book
I gained a better appreciation for Sense and Sensibility on my last reread, but it's still definitely Austen's weakest novel.
12. Least favorite Austen heroine
Marianne Dashwood is a realistic teenager, but not someone that I can admire or sympathize with too much.
14. Favorite love confession from the books
Can any Austen fan say anything other than The Letter in Persuasion?
16. Least favorite film adaptation
I hold a grudge against the 2005 Pride and Prejudice, because it did nothing to make me understand the appeal of Austen, and it's a horrible adaptation, but it has such a huge influence on fandom's interpretation of the novel.
Also, every once in a while, I remember the scene in the 2008 Sense and Sensibility where Brandon gives Willoughby a "stay away from my daughter" speech, and I shudder over how creepy it is.
17. Moment that made you sad/cry while reading
Basically any scene of Fanny Price's childhood.
18. Moment that made you smile/happy while reading
Henry Tilney's introduction scene in Northanger Abbey is just pure distilled joy.
19. Moment that made you laugh while reading
I'll never forget the time I laughed out loud in class while reading one of Miss Bates' speeches in Emma.
20. Moment that made you mad while reading
I don't know if I've ever been so mad for a heroine as I was during the scene where the neglected poor, orphaned, outsider Fanny watches everyone fawn over poor, orphaned outsider Mary Crawford.
22. Favorite Austen female casting decision
I love Tamsin Greig as Miss Bates in the 2009 Emma, because I did not imagine her talkativeness as stemming from anxiety, but it was fun to see her played that way and to experience a different interpretation that still felt valid.
I'm also going to take this opportunity to mention that I love Mrs. Jennings and Sir John Middleton in 1995's Sense and Sensibility. I just grin through every scene they're in, and I especially respect them after learning that they were the only cast members that Emma Thompson didn't have to write random extra dialogue for in crowd scenes, because they just naturally knew how to talk like Regency characters.
23. Favorite Austen male casting decision
I love Johnny Lee Miller as Mr. Knightley in 2009 Emma. I don't know if he matches the character in the novel, but I love how he portrayed the dynamic with Emma.
Also, Hugh Laurie as Mr. Palmer in 1995's Sense and Sensibility is perfection. And Greg Wise as Willoughby is beautiful and charming enough to do his job of fooling you into thinking he could be the romantic lead before he proves to be an utter cad.
24. Favorite supporting character
Mrs. Jennings. Hands-down. So vulgar, nosey, and over-the-top, but beneath it all, so kind and friendly and helpful. I love her so much.

Oh are we doing Director Cuts again? I'd love you to tlk more about Something In Seattle please!! Anything you want, but I'd like to know what inspired you for the forest scene?
Tbh it can always be director's cut time, i fucking love talking lol, so thank you for asking!!!!!!!!!!!! On to some more info dumping about Someone in Seattle's forest scene :)
Inspiration for Lando's Styling:
This is a bit layered. It started, I think, back in January with my regular rewatch of 2005's Pride and Prejudice. Of course, that naturally lead to the question: how would I make that into a landoscar fic?
After talking about it on tumblr, @redcowboy1 made the horrifically influential comment: "AND u can imagine lando in the iconic 2005 white outfit with pearls... in his curly hair!". It ruined me. It's still ruining me. It will always ruin me. I don't even know if I've told him how much that comment ruined me.
I thought of direct Pride and Prejudice fics, I thought of Pride and Prejudice inspired fics, but nothing really stuck? So when I realized this was the moment where I could do it all (ethereal white outfit, pearls in the hair,,, fae-like blush,,,,) I went IN.
Shockingly, that isn't the only super loose 2005 P&P reference in that scene. There's also this:
Giving in to childish instinct, Lando jumps up onto the stump; Oscar’s arm follows him like a guide, a gentleman helping his lady into her carriage. Lando’s fingers flex against his. Realizing his mistake, having breached professionalism, he drops it.
Hand Scene, anyone? No?
The Setting:
This was actually really heavily inspired by my own childhood. I grew up with my home backing onto a massive forest that you could explore via a broken fence post :) Just like in this fic :)
Almost all the key elements are lifted from my own experience in the forest, like the creek with the massive tree fallen across it. That was real!!!!!! it's actually the center of a lot of my happiest childhood memories.
In the winter, my sister and I used to go exploring in the woods -- the feeling of a river so cold that it makes the air around it painful is so visceral to me. We used to walk across the tree that Lando posed on to the get to the other side, though I fell off more than once lol.
Something that I tried to capture is the extraordinary alien-ness that comes with the Pacific Northwest's forests. They're incredibly dense, with a mix of obscuring low-crawling plants like ferns and massive evergreens like nothing you've ever seen before. It truly makes it feel like the air is green, like you can't see the sky -- and even if you could, maybe it wouldn't be the same sky you saw elsewhere.
I guess, in a way, maybe I kind of wrote it from the perspective of a small child. I kind of gave the impression that Lando and Oscar are dwarfed by the nature around them -- like I scaled the entire thing up, because that's how I remember it.
Anyways, enough rambling. I found a few pictures that inspired me while I was writing: the tree stump pose, general foliage 1, general foliage 2
Other Fun Facts:
Atypically of me, I wrote this fic out of chronological order. I started it when I was sick (yes, at the same time that i started the wildly different Choking on Greatness), and my fevered brain just produced a bunch of random little scenes. One of those scenes was a solid chunk of their time in the forest.
Honestly, that's probably why this scene feels like the "main event" -- in terms of how I wrote this fic, I really wrote most of it around this moment.
Another fun fact is that I tried to imply that Lando was waiting for a doorknob confession when they got to their cars; he wanted Oscar to come kiss him.
Lando’s hand is on his car’s door handle, but he’s looking at Oscar like there’s something left to say – to do. His lips part slightly, not enough to talk but maybe enough to tempt, if things were different, if he wasn’t here because he’s doing Oscar a favor. Lando’s eyes flutter closed, only opening when Oscar speaks.
don't think I actually nailed it, but hey. Can't win 'em all.
#THANK YOU OP FOR ASKIN!!!!#god if i could fucking draw#you know i'd have lando in pearls and a slutty shirt NOW#you just KNOW#ask me :)#Someone In Seattle#Landoscar#directors commentary

As for Gale Discourse Cont., I think it’s also necessary to point out that he’s written as a Comedic Relief character. He unironically says stuff like “pish posh” and is voiced by a well-known (in England) comedian. Unfortunately, because this is a DnD based game, every character you interact with the most needs to be complex and have a tragic backstory and I have a theory his romance arch is heavily derived from Mr. Darcy from the 2005 Pride and Prejudice movie. I mention all of this because I am absolutely a Galemancer, and I had a bit of a turmoil about the interview myself until some other tumblr user (I can’t remember who) made a post about this. Seeing Gale through the lens of “oh he’s a silly little guy made to be the butt of all jokes but surprise! he has so much depth anyway” helped me take a breather and have fun with it again. Sorry this got rambley.
ok if you're rambling then i must be reading the dictionary. i think this is a good point to make, especially as an addition to the concept of how the writers view gale. and crucially, i don't think it really undermines people who found more depth in his character. because on some level this is true for every character in this game-- they're all an awkward trope and they grow as the game continues forward and you learn more about them. i'm glad that this perspective helped you re-enjoy the game!
a view of him as The Comic Relief Guy (and Arrogant Wizard) aligns with how the writers are talking about him, and a lot of characters can be viewed chiefly as narrative tropes. so, if galemancers and gale fans can bear with me here, i'll poke at that idea for a bit and why i think it's a good point to make within this long winded thesis i've been developing for two days.
wyll is probably the most obvious to start with in this trope analysis. he is objectively in the party, the voice of reason and a Good Guy. he will unambiguously support whatever the most like, goodhearted, positive, hero-type outcome. so we can classify him that way. i mean, his background is folk hero. then, you travel more with him and his story winds off in its own direction.
astarion is that foil to lawful goodness, and is presented as such. however, astarion also serves an important role in that he introduces one of the first instances of a potential party conflict to you. managing and understanding his vampirism is important to his character and to your party cohesion, at least in a roleplay sense. astarion is also meant to be a character that can frustrate you. think about the people who take bloodless, which is a literal stat negative, for him to be happy. that's an interesting trade that the writers are having you make, and in order to cure bloodless you have to use a spell slot. mechanically, this is the role he serves in the party narrative, and it's up to you the player to decide what you want to do with that. and then his story goes off in its own direction.
i could go on and position other characters in this stripped down way, but it's probably unnecessary.
with these two examples in mind, looking at Gale through this lens, i think he has a bunch of really important functions in the narrative and in the party dynamics. and similar to wyll and astarion above, you can come to view him beyond his initial trope. the biggest hurdle to his development is that his story is fundamentally integrated with the plot of the game. so, on some level, the narrative is unable to develop further on him because he still has that role to play. he has to still be able to kill himself even when the player has convinced him that his life matters because he is stuck in that narrative structure forever. he IS supposed to be the annoying guy who takes your stuff and eats it. you're supposed to have those moments of "oh no, what are supposed to do about this" just like lae'zel in the creche or with kithrak voss, breaking wyll's pact with mizora, and astarion's deal with raphael to kill yurgir. sometimes your companions make you do things that are really annoying.
but-- and this is the key-- gale's story doesn't have as much freedom to move beyond that, which is a fair complaint, even if there's not actually that much to be done about it in the grand scheme of things. (and i think this applies to lae'zel too, i just don't want to get too off-topic. and unfortunately i am not as familiar with her story, which is orin's fault.)
hopefully this comes across as me using your ideas as a springboard for my own, and not me twisting your words or hijacking something you said. i think that's an interesting perspective and thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Prepare to be bother yourself now 🫶
What are three movies you could rewatch all the time?
What are the best books you read recently?
And top five countries or cities you want to visit/sights you want to see?
🫶
hiiiiiii i love these questions thank you <3
movies:
Pride and Prejudice (2005) - it's THE comfort movie for me, like if i could only watch one movie for the rest of my life i would choose this one, it is everything to me from the very first to the very last moment
Dirty Dancing - the one movie my mum and i can always agree on shdkfd another comfort movie that i love dearly (i carried a watermelon truly scene of all time)
The Lord of the Rings trilogy - technically three movies i know but they HAVE to be on the list, they have been a part of the fabric of my life since i watched the first one for the first time at the tender age of seven and it changed me on a fundamental level (i didn't really understand what was going on naturally but boromir's death scene was seared into my brain)
books:
Masters of the Air by Donald Miller - a book about the american bomber boys in wwii. i read it because i watched the hbo series and i normally don't really read a lot of non-fiction outside of what i have to read for uni but this one was so phenomenal i decided i need to do that more often (even if it took me one and a half months to finish it lmao)
In Memoriam by Alice Winn - a book about two boys at an english boarding school who are best friends and also secretly in love with each other but are too scared to act on it. except then the first world war happens and their world is changed forever. this one was SO good and SO heartbreaking and SO well written. it was really hard to read at times - think All Quiet on the Western Front, reading about the hell soldiers went through in the trenches was tough - but i really cannot recommend it enough
Die vierzig Tage des Musa Dagh by Franz Werfel - this is the one i'm currently reading, it's about an armenian family that is caught up in the armenian genocide in 1915-1917. i haven't come that far yet but the writing is so vivid and captivating i already know it will break my heart more than one time
(i just realised that all of these sound really depressing lmao i promise not everything i read is like this)
places:
(in no particular order)
Rome!!!!! it's honestly such a shame that i haven't been yet, i've been reading and learning so much about its history through my school years and academic career so far, i really really want to see it in person one of these days
The Netherlands hehe, i've got a friend there i want to visit <3
The Arctic!! doesn't really matter where as long as it's north of the arctic circle, i really wanna experience it because i've been in love with that region ever since i was a little kid (and i'd also love to see the northern lights!!)
this one's most likely never gonna happen but if i had the money i'd love to go on hikes in several of the big US national parks, the scenery is amazing!!!!!
Guédelon Castle in France, it's an experimental archaeology project where they're constructing a 13th century castle using only techniques and materials from that time, they started in 1997 (!) and are aiming to finish sometime in 2030 (i think) and it's just really really cool

my love for you is infinite - part2
Santiago Garcia x afab!reader(Darcy)
note: pride and prejudice (2005) but with triple frontier boys because why not lol
word count: 1226
warnings: in this au there is no social contract for sexuality and gender hehehehee
you can also read it on ao3
part1 - part3 - masterlist
“I can't breathe. How am I going to dance all night if I can't breathe?”
“My toes hurt already.” Ben and William were bickering.
Santiago and Francisco are a little apart from their family.
“Well, if every man in this room does not end the evening in love with you then I am no judge of beauty, Frankie.”
“Or men.”
“Oh, they are far too easy to judge.”
“They are not all bad.”
“Humorless poppycocks, in my limited experience.”
“One of these days, Santiago, someone will catch your eye and then you'll have to watch your tongue.”
He stops speaking and stares. A dazzling group enters the room: George Bingley, his sister Caroline, and finally, Miss Y/N Darcy. All dressed in the highest modes.
The music and dancing stops as the local people turn and stare. The newcomers - creatures from another world - make quite a stir. Darcy surveys the hall. She catches Santiago's eye and stares, with a kind of surprised shock.
Caroline Bingley turns to Darcy.
“Oh dear, we are a long way from Grosvenor Square, are we not, Miss Darcy?”
People hurry to greet the new arrivals. One of them leads them down the center of the dance floor towards the best seats in the room, stopping occasionally to introduce them to various parties.
Santiago's great friend Charlotte Lucas comes to Santiago's side.
“So which of the painted peacocks is our Mr Bingley?”
“He is on the right, and on the left is his sister.”
“And the person with the quizzical brow?”
“That is his good friend, Miss Darcy.”
“She looks miserable, poor soul.”
“Miserable she may be, but poor she most certainly is not.”
“TeIl me.”
“Ten thousand a year and she owns half of Derbyshire.”
“The miserable half?”
They share a complicit giggle.
Sir William Lucas arrives with Darcy and the Bingley's to introduce his daughter Charlotte and the Bennet family. Behind them the music and dancing re-start where they left off.
“My eldest daughter you know, Mrs. Bennet, Francisco, Santiago and Tom Bennet.”
“It is a pleasure. I have two others but they are already dancing.” Mrs. Bennet says.
Mr. Bingley was transfixed by Francisco and gazes openly at him but manages to say “Delighted to make your acquaintance.”
“And may I introduce Miss Darcy. - of Pemberley, in Derbyshire!”
A stiff bow from Darcy, Santiago smiles, Darcy does not.
Moments later. Santiago is standing in a small group with Francisco, Bingley, Miss Bingley and Darcy.
“How do you like it here in Hertfordshire, Mr Bingley?” Francisco asks.
Smiling at Francisco shyly “Very much.” He answers.
“The library at Netherfield, I've heard, is one of the finest in the country.” Santiago adds.
“Yes, it fills me with guilt.” He looks at Francisco and a little blush starts around his collar.
“Not a good reader, you see. I prefer being out of doors. I mean, I can read, of course and, and I'm not suggesting you can't read outdoors - of course”
“I wish I read more, but there always seems so many other things to do.” Francisco says.
“That's exactly what I meant.”
He beams at Francisco, gratefully.
The first dance ends. Ben and William rush past in a state of high excitement.
“Mama! You will never ever ever ever believe what I'm about to tell you! “Ben exclaims.
“You've decided to take the veil?”
Ben ignores him.
“Tell me quickly, my love.”
Ben, shrieking “The regiment are coming!”
Mrs. Bennet shrieks too. Mr. Bennet winces.
“They're to be stationed the whole winter! Stationed in the village, just right there!” William adds.
Now all three Bennet family shriek and Ben actually jumps up and down.
“Officers! Officers as far as the eye can see!”
“How will we meet them?”
“It's easy. You just walk up and down in front of them and drop something.”
Ben pantomimes the actions for William.
“They pick it up. You say 'Oh thank you sir' and blush prettily and then you're introduced!”
Couples begin to form for the next dance. Mr Bingley turns to Francisco.
“May I have the honor?”
They leave to dance. Santiago addresses Miss Darcy as much to distract her from his family as for any other reason.
“Do you dance Miss Darcy?
“Not if I can help it.”
Santiago, Darcy and Miss Bingley stand in uncompanionable silence.
On the dance floor Mr. Bingley, with pink ears, was dancing with Francisco. Mrs. Bennet, with a group of other mothers, watches the young couple with rather too obvious a satisfaction.
“That dress becomes his does it not. Though of course my Francisco needs little help from couturiers.”
Santiago wanders through the throng. He looks at Bingley and Francisco dancing - Francisco is calm and demure, Bingley clearly smitten.
Later. Darcy is joined by an exhilarated Bingley.
“Upon my word I've never seen so many pretty men in my life.”
“You are dancing with the only handsome one in the room.”
“Oh, he is the most beautiful creature I ever beheld, but his brother Santiago is very agreeable.”
They have stopped at the edge of the dance floor but have not seen Santiago and Charlotte who were hiding behind a pillar. Santiago starts to smile.
“Perfectly tolerable, I dare say, but not handsome enough to tempt me.”
Santiago stops smiling.
“You had better return to your partner and enjoy his smiles, for you are wasting your time with me.”
Bingley goes off.
“Count your blessings, Santiago. If she liked you, you'd have to talk to her.
“Precisely. As it is, I would not dance with her for all of Derbyshire, let alone the miserable half.”
Charlotte smiles at her friend, but sees nonetheless that Santiago is stung.
Later, Bingley politely dancing with Charlotte. As he does so, he catches sight of Francisco dancing with somebody else. With a look of pure longing, he looks around to distract himself and notices Santiago too is dancing.
Ben and William are exuberantly dancing too, laughing and chatting. Darcy stands watching, a look of infinitely superior boredom on his fine features.
After, Bingley is standing with Francisco, Santiago, Mrs. Bennet and Darcy.
“Your friend Miss Lucas is a most amusing young woman.” Mr Bingley says to Santiago.
“Yes! I adore her.”
“It is a pity she is not more handsome.”
“Mama!”
“But Santiago will never admit she is plain. Of course, it is my Francisco who is considered the beauty of the county.”
“Oh! Mama, please!”
“When he was only fifteen there was a gentleman so much in love with him that I was sure he would make him an offer. However, he did write him some very pretty verses.”
“And that put paid to it. I wonder who first discovered the power of poetry in driving away love?” Santiago adds impatiently.
“I thought that poetry was the food of love.” Mrs. Darcy says.
“Of a fine, stout love it may. But if it is only a vague inclination, I am convinced that one poor sonnet will kill it stone dead.”
Darcy looks at Santiago with a glimmering of interest.
“So what do you recommend, to encourage affection?”
Santiago turns and looks at Darcy square on.
“Dancing. Even if one’s partner is barely tolerable.”
He gives her a dazzling smile. Darcy looks startled. She had no idea he heard her. Now it was her turn to blush.

Top 5 all-time favorite ships?
TEA!!!
Warning - this list is literally just the same m/f couple in different fonts. A lot of these were more formative and influential in my childhood or were from series that are from a couple years ago. I am naming these as my top five because of how insane I went over them/how hard I hyperfixated on them.
When I made this list I was disappointed to realize that there hasn't been a wlw couple from a series or movie that has influenced me this powerfully, but I hope to find it soon and if you have any recs lmk! :) Will also include honorable mentions!
1. Kirsten Clark and Cameron Goodkin, Stitchers (2015-2017)
This is tied with Julie and the Phantoms for one of my biggest hyperfixations ever. Kirsten and Cameron were a slowburn that was done really beautifully and nobody was doing it like them. I watched this show at a very pivotal developmental point in my life, and I think these two taught me a lot about the work that a relationship takes and the fact you have to be willing to put it in - they were a healthy relationship example for me at a time that it was necessary for me to see it. They have a lot of character development over 3 seasons but grow together in healthy ways, and the writers kind of bake it into the plot that they're meant to be lmao. They also are just a great example of loving someone for everything that they are. They definitely made me a little mentally ill but also inspired me to be a writer, so...
2. Julie Molina and Luke Patterson, Julie and the Phantoms (2020)
I don't know how long you have been following me anon, but if I've been on your dash at all in the past couple years, it was most definitely related to Julie and the Phantoms, and probably related to Julie and Luke. In one season, they had insane development and beautiful chemistry. The way their characters were written made them naturally fit together, and made me cry "soulmates!" quite often. I will forever mourn what they could have been, and be grateful for some of the most stellar works of fanfiction I've ever read that were produced in their name.
3. Anne Shirley Cuthbert and Gilbert Blythe, Anne With An E (2018-2020)
Technically they're from the whole Anne of Green Gables Universe but AWAE is one of my Shows Of All Time ™ lol so I'm crediting them to the show!!! Just everything about them..amazing. Definitely gave me unrealistic expectations for love tho bc who tf assaults a man and still bags him in the end!??? Anne. She's that bitch and I haven't reached that yet but I'm working towards it.
4. Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy, Pride & Prejudice (2005, dir. Joe Wright)
This is another one of those ships where I'm like if you've followed me long enough you could have seen this coming lol. These two are from the general Pride & Prejudice Universe, first created by the lovely Jane Austen, but P&P 2005 is by far my favorite movie of all time, and it is still breathtaking every time I watch it. Keira Knightley and Emmy Award Winner Matthew Macfadyen are really a perfect pair and their adaptations of the characters are so genuine and whole. Everything I do, I do for them.
5. Nina Martin and Fabian Rutter, House of Anubis (2011-2013)
My original Ship of All Time. Was very mentally ill over them. I rewatched this show last year and I expected to be like "oh god this is cringe how did young me like this so much" but instead I was like "oh god this is so well written how could anybody hate this show." Yes it has its silly moments but I could write essays on how well it was written. The foundation of trust between Nina and Fabian was more powerful than any "do you trust me?" YA teen fantasy movie moment of the 2000s. Fabian was the blueprint for every fictional crush I have had since.
HONORABLE MENTIONS:
Kaz Brekker and Inej Ghafa, Six of Crows Duology and Shadow & Bone TV series
Aziraphale and Crowley, Good Omens
Su-hyeok and Nam-Ra, All Of Us Are Dead
Joyce Byers and Jim Hopper, Stranger Things
Zoya Nazyalensky and Alina Starkov, Shadow & Bone Trilogy and TV series (yes I am a Zoyalina truther sorry)
Dan Humphrey and Blair Waldorf, Gossip Girl (will I receive hate for this one? to be determined)
Steve Harrington and Eddie Munson, Stranger Things
John B and Sarah Cameron, Outer Banks
Ethan and Sarah, My Babysitter's a Vampire

10 Movies I Love:
I was tagged by @glitterisblue, so here we go!
1. Sunshine (2007)
Some of the best cinematography I've seen, with a group of compelling characters and a beautiful science-fiction story that doesn't let up once it really starts. Danny Boyle is one of my favorite directors, and this film is at the top of my recommendations every time.
2. Spotlight (2015)
My teacher showed us this film in our pre-production class the year it was up for the Oscars; only 1 scene, and I went home that day itching to watch it. I then proceeded to watch it three days in a row because I was blown away.
3. Brokeback Mountain (2005)
I'm not usually one for dramatic romance films, and I knew going into this one, even as young as I was when watching it, that it was going to hurt, but never have I been so emotionally devastated. A story that grips you and rips you apart with some of the most compelling acting I've seen.
4. Love Actually (2003)
Any of my friends will tell you that romcoms are not my go-to film genre, but this movie has it all. From complex relationships and an amazing theme that is explored through so many different stories. There are tears and laughs and those little "aw" moments wrapped up in a genuinely amazing and lighthearted (for the most part) film.
5. Pride and Prejudice (2005)
I've seen as many iterations of this story as I can get my hands on (with zombies and in the style of Bollywood), and I can't seem to get enough. There's a reason that Elizabeth and Darcy's romance is a classic, and I love it.
6. Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Come on, are any of us surprised? Top Gun: Maverick sunk its claws in me and delivered a film experience I think has really been missing in the mainstream for the last few years. I think it's clear the time and attention that was paid to both the technical and story aspects of this movie, and it's well deserving to be praised.
7. The Shape of Water (2017)
To pick 1 Guillermo del Toro film is nearly impossible, but I think The Shape of Water is both the freshest and one that incorporates everything I really love about him as a filmmaker into one cinematic masterpiece. From his use of color and reliance on stellar actors, this film is such an experience that keeps my faith that film can really excel past the current standards.
8. An American Werewolf in London (1981)
I love werewolves and werewolf movies, and the first one I always think of is An American Werewolf in London. It revolutionized monster makeup and monster transitions, and it plays with such interesting ideas and the true physiological horror that the werewolf presents. It's a classic and holds up, even over 40 years later.
9. October Sky (1999)
Another film I was shown in school, though this time it was junior high. I fell in love with the simple and inspiring story. The atmosphere and the relationships between the characters have such a good feeling, and even though there are moments of heartbreak, it's just a phenomenal watch that I think anyone could enjoy.
10. Doom (2005)
Look, I know what you're thinking. But I will be the first one to tell you that I love popcorn movies. I love sitting down to put on a mindless sci-fi horror with A-list actors that are filled with silly one-liners and stupid characters. Popcorn movies have such a special place, and I think if people aren't putting at least 1 popcorn film on their lists, they're not being completely honest with themselves. A movie doesn't need to be a masterpiece to be loved; you just have to feel good and have a good time when you watch it.
~
I'm gonna go ahead and tag some people. Looking forward to seeing your movies :3 - @thestarlitnight @icemav86 @mistmarauder @blackestglass @cristinuke

Hey, I have watched a few historical dramas and I think that the Borgias had the best costumes. I know nothing about historical fashion but from what I've read, the dresses at least look like they could be of that time period somewhat. But that's just my opinion. What do you think? What's your favourite historical drama on the basis of their costumes.
For me, good costumes are about the quality of the clothes and the impression they make, more than accuracy. Like, for me, Reign has some of my favorite looks because they pursued an aesthetic and got some legit GREAT pieces over four seasons. Some of the looks flopped, but some really crushed it.
But in general, The Borgias is probably my favorite show for women's costumes as well. I don't hate the men's costumes, but they aren't nearly as good, imo--especially Cesare's. Cesare was MUCH more dramatically dressed in real life, and I think Francois could've pulled it off. The women looked amazing, though; and while they're not perfectly accurate, they're more accurate than many, and they create a very High RenArt aesthetic, which I love. Plus, there's a really distinct vibe to different characters' ensembles. Giulia would never wear a Lucrezia ensemble, Vanozza would never wear a Giulia costume, etc.
Victoria had some really good looks for Tom Hughes as Albert, though I think the era helped a lot there--Victoria had some good costumes as well, but they dressed Tom in very sleek, clean lines, gloves, gave him his lil pirate shirts and suspenders for the lounging around scenes. There's a moment early in s2 (maybe the premiere) when he's in a full dark coat with leather gloves and it is excellent. And the big FORMAL moments (the wedding, the Clockwork Prince episode) always hit. They gave him a very good "romantic fairytale prince" look, and they also dressed David Oakes super well. David Oakes also has some great sweeping cloak moments on Vikings: Valhalla that offset his "Natalie Dormer is My Baby's Mother, Suck My Dick Era" really well.
The Great has FABULOUS costumes for men and women (well, for Peter and women). Catherine's evolution from "businesslike" simple clothes to opulent gowns to stoic despot wear over three seasons is so, so good. The costumes really tell a story on this show, down to the beauty marks Mariel and George wear in s3. Peter is given the rockstar look with the pearls and the leather pants to offset Catherine's sensibility; and of course, we're so FAMILIAR with his look that even a casual viewer can tell that Catherine is wearing Peter's clothes, down to his pearls and his coat, for multiple episodes after he dies. Which is HEARTBREAKING. Some of the best costuming on TV.
I also rewatched Catherine the Great (the Helen Mirren one) recently, and I love that they showed us Catherine and Potemkin in full drag, a great costume moment for both that also reflected Catherine's court. Potemkin gets some very good menswear moments that illustrate his progression from normal soldier to the Right Hand of The Crown, while also enhancing the passage of time, and they use the eyepatch EXCELLENTLY. Great division of vibes for when he's wearing the patch versus not wearing the patch (the desire to intimidate versus the desire to look like a statesman versus the desire to be vulnerable with Catherine).
So as far as television dramas--this is what I'd go for. I also adore the way men are dressed in Pride and Prejudice (2005) (Matthew McFadyen wears one of the most iconic men's costumes of the last 25 years in the meadow scene), everything anyone wears in any Zhang Yimou film ever but especially in Curse of the Golden Flower, the costuming in Bram Stoker's Dracula (simply perfection), and of course everything Roxanne wears in Cyrano, romantic heroine excellence. And more, I'm sure!
