Was thinking of my post about dream teams and got really invested in whatever Unrequited Hate has going on

lucanis is a 'I could sit in our quiet kitchen on a grey tuesday afternoon drinking coffee and talking with you about nothing much in particular forever and be the happiest man who ever lived' romantic, not a 'classic tropes and grand gestures' romantic. this is a distinction and conceptual gap I personally feel is crucial to understanding what's going on with him when romanced. for all his almost painful sincerity and clear depth of feeling he's not a very effusive guy by nature, but in the history of time no one has ever, with their whole soul, chest and being, been so genuinely and openly happy to just do laundry and taxes with you.

I've constantly enjoyed stanxeno's parallel with the KoS and Senku's closest friends, but anyway I love rambling since s5 aired. Anyway

Obviously, one of the main parallels should be Taijuu since Stan occupies the brawn best friend to Xeno. But I thought, isn't Stan more like Tsukasa in terms of attitude? When Tsukasa was dying and recalled a what-if scenario, he thought about being there with Senku as a childhood friend. I thought, yea that would be more fitting, isn't it?

But Tsukasa wasn't there. Instead, it was Taijuu and later on, Yuzuriha.

And that's the main difference between them I think (besides obviously Byakuya, but we didn't see Xeno's parents). Senku has Yuzuriha to help them with her own set of skills and the three of them were truly good friends (which i'm really glad honestly. at first impression, i thought taijuu was just going to be simping over her. but senku knows 1 billion % it's reciprocated because the 3 are close. good for them.)

Meanwhile, Xeno only has Stan, who truly is worth about four people in the KoS alone skills and relationship-wise (Tsukasa, Taijuu, Ryusuui and Gen) but also meant that they're pretty cut off from the rest of the world. so you get Xeno's frustrations later on.

which goes down to Senku and Xeno's philosophical differences. Senku puts human cooperation above brute force, reflected on all his friends and family because he has people who understood the joys of creation and knowledge acquisition for curiosity's sake (of course he also happened to be with 2 of the most kind-hearted people in the world. meanwhile he's such a scheming gremlin lol)

Anyway. i think it's nicely woven in. Xeno's jaded self would immediately build an empire. while Senku worked on finding a cure. Granted, Senku woke up alone. Xeno had Stan (and platinum). Perhaps if Xeno woke up alone, he'd find a way to wake up Stan too. Even with platinum, there's only so much he can do.

So there's this AU I have with a friend (I draw and they write) where Zamasu finds somehow himself in Hell after dying and he meets Z Gogeta. That's it, that's the premise. And I love them (I swear it all started with "they both have halos" LMAO).

yes i'm rooting for m*leven breakup because byler is neat but mostly? i'm rooting for m*leven breakup for the sake of el and mike.

to me, their romance was always a puppy love born out of a combination of social pressures, naïve curiosity, and a lack of true understanding regarding intimacy and romantic love and what it really is. it was real in that they do truly, deeply care about each other and they are close friends, maybe even shared an attraction, but a maturing romance is so much more than that. they've grown up and out of being boyfriend/girlfriend, and that's okay! i think television/film needs to show more often that most of us don't have definite "soulmates" or first childhood loves that we spend our whole lives with. it doesn't mean these relationships meant nothing and didn't impact us, it just means they've run their course and that something else is in the cards, and this is part of life!

i've always felt el was at her best and most confident self when broken up with mike, discovering who she was and what she liked alongside another girl her age instead of just relying on mike for mentorship on how to live in the real world. she deserves more of an opportunity to find herself, her autonomy, and her independence, and to love who she is, and she's made it clear she's felt insecure in the relationship with mike because she isn't being loved and understood the way she wants, needs, and deserves from someone who is her partner.

also, it's okay if mike doesn't love her in "the way he should". he is not obligated to love her romantically and stay in a relationship with her just because she's a girl, because she "needed someone", or because he cares about her a lot. he shouldn't be pressured into a romance if it's not truly coming from his heart. he deserves freedom to find out and honour who he is, too, instead of just staying in his non-functional first relationship — one he got into as a child, essentially — and defining himself that way because it's what's expected when a boy and a girl are close. he loves her in some way, yes, but it's okay if he doesn't feel comfortable or secure being her boyfriend anymore, for whatever reason that is. he's felt insecure too, and that's valid and it matters.

they are their own people and are steadily growing and changing every day. they need time to figure out who those people are, and it's become clear (at least in my opinion) that those people aren't meant to be a couple at this stage.

they deserve freedom. they deserve to grow up and be authentic to themselves and not feel like they need to lie for the sake of a relationship. they deserve to move on from this version of their relationship that isn't making them happy and rekindle the best part of their bond: their strong, beautiful friendship. they don't have to be a couple if it doesn't make them stronger and better and happier people.

i think it would be healthy and wonderful for a show, especially one consumed frequently by young adults, to show a relationship starting, progressing, and ending on good terms in this way. sometimes things don't work out, and that is okay.
