Merlin is just such a compelling show (and character) despite being so silly and full of physical comedy. like what do you mean it’s about human error, about loving so hard you lose yourself, about betrayal, about looking back on your life and thinking about everything that could’ve been changed to prevent tragedy but realizing it couldn’t have been any other way. because you are human. because you loved, and you feared, and you gave in to those fears, because you tried your best to protect but became warped by a love so great that it doomed you. it’s so compelling because it’s both inevitable and so preventable. it makes you look back on it like you look back on the regrets in your own life and the things that haunt you but couldn’t have happened any other way because of your humanity. it keeps you up at night, it makes you look for its cracks, and it makes you think over and over again about the what ifs. it’s so compelling, its so silly, it’s so tragic, it’s so beautiful, its larger than life, and it’s so human.

….this is why we will never escape, just like Merlin can’t escape his memories of his king at the end.

unpopular opinion maybe but i actually think christopher going to live in texas for a while was a good move for both chris and eddie, and i don’t dislike ramon and helena for it

in eddie’s case, i think he needs some time by himself to figure out who he is. he’s lived most of his life for someone else - whether it be for his parents/family in childhood, shannon as a teen, and eventually chris as an adult. i don’t think he’s ever had the chance to explore himself as a person without all these other people to define him and that’s why i think it’s good for him to have some time alone, as a man in the world, to figure out who he is by himself and what he wants to do FOR HIMSELF instead of for others. he also needs to recover from what happened to shannon - come to terms with it - and i don’t think it would be possible to do that with chris still with him, bcos in the end chris is also shannon’s child which means he lives with a reminder of her everyday. and he can’t heal without taking some time off from it

in christopher’s case, he’s a preteen now who’s been through a lot - there’s his fear of people leaving, like his mom, the trauma that was definitely caused by the tsunami, the fear of losing his father on the job (thanks shooting arc) and i think a lot of his fears centre around eddie. i’m not saying it’s eddie’s fault, but it’s just the circumstance of how chris was brought up. so some time away from his father would be good for him to basically reset himself a little, and to have some time off to think and reflect about himself too

in ramon and helena’s case, i think unlike the buckley parents, they really are just trying their best to help. sure they’re still more traditional and conservative than most people would like but i think what ramon said, about “ur son is trying to tell u what he wants, so listen to him before it’s too late”, i actually think that was a good line. bcos ramon doesn’t want eddie and chris to end up how he and eddie did. bcos ramon knows it won’t end well for both sides and he doesn’t want that kind of relationship between eddie and chris. and in the end it was CHRIS who decided to leave LA with his grandparents, and they respected that decision.

i don’t think chris will leave forever. bcos he still has stuff in LA he wants to come back to (in my opinion at least, school and friends etc). and in the end chris still loves eddie, he just needs some time to process.

tldr i actually like that chris leaves for texas for a while

jace is not ‘pushing for war’ in the same way aegon and aemond are, and to insinuate so is ridiculous 😭

aemond specifically started a war because of his butthurt ego and inability to control his dragon, aegon celebrates this fact with a party. jace just doesn’t want his brothers death to be in vain and knows that his and his families lives are forfeit if they don’t fight back. he’s one of the only male characters in fire and blood that has to deal with the repercussions of misogynistic attacks; his mother is usurped (on account of her gender), loyalists at court (that he surely knew) were put to death for supporting his mother, she loses his baby sister in a traumatic stillbirth because of the usurpation, his brother is murdered in cold blood (he most likely blames himself for the plan that sent him to storm’s end), he’s going to die thinking he failed to save yet another brother. why would he not push for war? and why are violent misogynist one and two (who STARTED the war in the first place) allowed to react, to want revenge, to want to hurt others in response to their losses, but jace isn’t?

we can complain about the way the show frames women as the pacifist pushovers to the men being violent warmongers all day long but jace of all the male characters on screen is *not* included in that, come ON people 😒

Could I request something platonic with Thanatos meeting and becoming friends with a shade reader who is Hypnos’ wife and mother of the oneiroi (as to how they had the kids, either through some random bullshit or their relationship started when wifey was alive and the children were had sometime before her death and brought into the Underworld to be with their mother)? Previously, no one knew about Hyp’s wife or kids outside of Hades, Persephone (because there’s no way he’s handling a secret relationship on his time off AND somehow got his kids into the Underworld without them knowing), and maybe Zag if he encountered wifey and the children on his runs.

I’m sorry if this is weirdly detailed. I just thought it’d be a cute concept. I love Thanatos deeply (the wing emoji I sign off with refers to both Hyp and Than), but that doesn’t mean I don’t think sometimes platonic stuff with him can also be really cute.

Thanatos & Shade!Sister-In-Law!Reader

Honestly, it’s a miracle that you managed to keep the marriage, not to mention, the kids secret for so long; especially with how much Hypnos has been dying (no pun intended) to gush about you

You mentioned Hades and Persephone are the only ones who know, but I don’t think he’d be able to keep it from his mother Nyx either; they both live and work together, and she’s perceptive as hell

In the original mythology, there’s 1000 Oneiroi, but for this ask I’m just gonna stick to the triplets: Morpheus, Phobetor and Phantasos

I can’t really think of an origin for them either, so I’m just gonna say Hypnos pulled some godly magic to make it possible and now you’re both parents

I think you’d spend a lot of time in the nursery, looking after the babies, so that would be where Zag meets you (whenever Hypnos isn’t in his usual spot by the Styx at the end of the run, he’ll be in the nursery with you)

The nursery would be painted to look like the night sky, with glow in the dark stars on the ceiling

If your room would help Zag in any way, I think you would give him one of the babies’ toys to borrow, but they’re actually imbued with some kind of dream magic that can stun monsters or something idk

Or maybe you’d just full on give him one of your babies (they can use dream magic on the monsters and make them weaker/stun them), and when he dies, they just poof back to the nursery

So, one day, Zag and Than would be sitting in the lounge and talking, and Zag would make some kind of throwaway comment (something casual like “oh, I met Hypnos’ wife yesterday, she was lovely, your nephews are adorable”), and Than would be worried that he’s completely lost it

“Hypnos… is not married, nor does he have a children. I believe he would’ve told me, like he tells me everything else.”

But Zag insists, and now Than has to see this for himself, so he accompanies Zag on one of his runs, and that’s where they finally reach the nursery

You and Hypnos would be putting the babies down for a nap when you hear someone arrive, assuming it’s Zag, but as soon as Hypnos realises his brother is there, he gets very nervous

He’s never kept anything from his brother for, and he’s been feeling so guilty about keeping something as big as this from him

The only reason he kept it from him was because he didn’t think Than would understand, or he’d just get even more annoyed with Hypnos if he started showing him the countless hypothetical photos in his hypothetical wallet

Than’s just standing there in shock, staring between Hypnos’ stuttering, your sheepish smile, and the sleeping triplets in their crib; his gaze lingers on the crib the longest and he slowly floats over to it, peering down inside

When he sees his nephews—nephews—in there, looking all cute and sleepy, something tugs on his heart; he was prepared to be angry with his brother for keeping this from him, but thinking back to the way he always dismisses Hypnos for his job… wow, maybe he wouldn’t have even told himself about something like this

He and Hypnos have a brotherly hug and some heartfelt apologies, with Thanatos promising to be supportive of your relationship; and he lives up to that promise

Whenever both you and Hypnos are busy, he’d be glad to babysit; he’d either be carrying them in a baby carrier for triplets (two on his front, one on his back), or when they’re older, on child leashes as he goes about his job like it’s normal

Yes, the mortals are a little confused when Death finally comes for them, and he’s got three babies trying to chew on his scythe

On the rare occasions he gets a break, he’d chat with you in the nursery; asking you questions about your relationship with Hypnos, helping with the babies (he’d rather not change a diaper, though), and just getting to know you

I don’t know if he can do this, but for the sake of this ask let’s say he can, he brings back souvenirs from the surface; little wildflowers that he asks Persephone to preserve, toys that he sees lying around, anything

It reminds you of your old home on the surface, and it makes the babies giggle and squeal with delight as they play

Overtime, you start to become good friends, and he finally feels comfortable enough to call you his sister

Sometimes, when Zag reaches the nursery, Thanatos might be there too, holding onto a laughing baby, his stoic demeanour cracking ever-so-slightly

Can you imagine Hypnos’ face when he sees you both calling each other brother and sister for the first time? He has never smiled that wide in his life, and he instantly pulled you both into a tight hug

Overall, he’s a very good brother-in-law and uncle, loves you, his brother and your babies; but don’t you dare hurt his twin, or he will make your afterlife hell

the anti-ecto acts were passed right when the justice league was first forming, and flew right under the meta-human rights activist’s noses.

The GIW start to get more aggressive, tracking down ghosts more efficiently, much to the dismay of the infinite realms. Phantom and his rogue gallery are forced to work together against the GIW and JL.

Frequent attacks in an attempt to draw attention to the laws declaring ghosts non sentient only backfires, and they’re declared official enemies of the US and rogues of the justice league.

It’s a constant struggle between the two sides for nearly a decade, until in a moment of weakness, Phantom let down his guard and vented his internal struggle while a young superboy still trying to find his place in the young justice listened in.

Now Kon has to try and convince the founders of the league that Phantom isn’t a threat, and the injustice the anti-ecto acts promote should be stopped, even though he’s still not completely trusted himself.

Look I like Roger enough, I understand what he represents and I generally don’t think he was a bad dude. I do however think he was shit at interpersonal relationships because, what the fuck. Whitebeards crew is infinitely more well adjusted and I’d say he arguably had the more traumatic death.

Like what even, what kind of planning leads a 53 year old man to sire a child knowing he is dying of an incurable illness and is about to turn himself in to be excuted by the marines where he will cause so much chaos it is literally still turning the world on its head 22 years later. He knew he was going to cause so much of a stir that he literally disbanded his crew and told them to spread far and wide to keep them safe. Because he knew the marines would hunt them far and wide But yet he still brought a baby into the world. Babe. What the fuck? What even is that? What was the thought process. I sincerely hope it was an accident and not a deliberate attempt to bring about a new era.
