to preface this post i am anti-advertising i think we should explode the entire industry but it's sooo funny when you people make posts like "and they don't even work!!" like. sorry to be the bearer of bad news but yes they do. that's why we have to put up with so many despite everyone hating them and thinking its annoying. because they actually work really well and make a shit load of money
#it actually would be way better if they didnt work and made no money bc businesses would abandon them#this isnt like stocks where everythings abstract and is essentially gambling (i dont understand stocks)#like ppl in the ad industry create things. that make a tangible and quantifiable impact on the business#which is then used in further ad planning. it is NOT all smoke and mirrors#like its fake in that the industry is not providing a necessary service the way like. grocery stores are#but its not the level of fake where everything is abstract like theres deliverables#moreover there is an extensive body of academic work specifically on how to make ads more effective#ALSO i think some of u views ads like. as if they have a win condition. which is you buy product#but in current advertising this is pretty rare and comparatively ineffective#which is why you see MANY ads which dont seem to be selling anything in particular. or which have nothing all to do with the product#the 'win' condition for THAT kind of ad is something more like 'viewers remember our name'#like. ex i would say ads for temu have not been effective on me bc i havent bought anything from them#but temu probably thinks they were SUPER effective on me because i talked abt them like 5 different times at work#and i do in fact know exactly what the company does and what they sell#and they were able to capitalize on the reputations of existing companies (wish shein etc) to build their own brand#good idea generator

now that you mention it, yeah kabru is kind of an ibex
trying to pin it down but I don't feel confident on my grasp of kabru's characterization (depsite him being my favourite guy. you know how it is) but like. Kabru is a nicer ibex. Ibex is kabru but he's no longer asking. Ibex is a kabru but he's not afraid to let outright enemies stay on the board if he knows he'll win the overall battle. I am begging people to stop saying "I know it's just hair" when they are upset about a bad haircut/bad hair day. It is not just hair. So many cultures place importance on hair, and hair (or lack thereof) is such a big part of people's identities, it deserves the import you put on it. Besides, "it's just hair" obviously is doing nothing to help you feel better. Please look to Marie Kondo once more and reframe it. "This isn't a flattering cut on me, but now I know that I don't like it, so I won't cut it this way again."
And if anyone tries to tell you it's just hair, reply, "It's not just hair. It's my hair, and I'm unhappy with it right now." Don't let people try to convince you that your feelings don't matter. It is not vain to be unhappy with your appearance over something that will take days-weeks-months to grow back. But that 'right now' is also very important. It will grow back out (slower for some people, faster for others). You won't be unhappy with it forever.
And if someone complains about their haircut, bite back the "it's just hair" and "it'll grow back" you've been conditioned to say. "I'm sorry, that sucks," will make them feel way better. Maybe you could even offer to help them experiment with different styling techniques to make it not so bad if you're close enough. Validate them like you would want to be validated in the same position.
It's not just hair. It's your hair. And you're allowed to be upset when it doesn't bring you joy. You're allowed to feel negatively about the experience. (Just remember it won't look like that forever once the shock and upset wears off.)

Saw the prompt list from a mutal and didn't even consider the "bees" prompt was not 100% serious until I visited this blog as I have apiphobia/melissophobia(fear of bees) so bees are a geuinely horrible and scary thing to me. Also if you want to see a really fucked up story about bees, watch the black mirror episode "hated in the nation". It gave genuine nightmares for weeks and still gives me chills to this day.
lol i think i assosciate bees with good! cute! makin honey! and so i always thought it was silly, but i've seen a lot of people come out saying how serious their fear of bees is and how its a serious prompt like the rest

good evening beautiful phone app ppl i am back
#hooooo boy today was a doozy#i finally was able to see a doctor and got prescribed a few meds for whatever demon is in my body#going to 3 different urgent cares was crazy but it was what it was ig#had a pretty big fight with my mom and actually did kinda fr have a mental break#i swear i was joking ab that earlier but gd did it rlly happen 😭#anyway so yeah i ended up having to make a phone call to a mental health center that provides inpatient/outpatient services#got an appointment/assessment tomorrow morning yippee#i'm trying my best to get myself sorted out like i can't keep living like this

Honestly it's low-key kind of wild to me that the two main flavors of dentist are A. literally so amazing and fastidious, one of the if not THE most important healthcare providers attending to our food holes, treating and preventing major problems and horrible pain, and sometimes even detecting stuff that's not directly their facet of work like EDs, reflux, cancers, wild shit like that 10/10 important and amazing
Or B. I love money soooooo much please give me some to bleach your mouth and put large strips of very painful metal to make your bite bones more aesthetic angles and also make you feel bad about everything you've ever done in your life
#not to say that there aren't times for braces or that cosmetic stuff can't ever be helpful to people because they 100% can#but I think there's a big difference between *offering* those services bc they could be helpful#and *insisting* on rendering those services bc people feel bad about their mouth looks and you'll make bank on it#dentist#shower thoughts#kind of#idk what you'd call that#just something I was thinking about ig#my teeth are quite healthy but I do have what I call "mad hatter teeth'' like Jervis Tetch on BTAS. I've gotten *many* offers for braces#bit in my adolescence I watched my friend at the time go through *horrible* pain from her braces just to straighten them a bit#for no medical reason. She couldn't eat she had ear infections pain after each appointment at one point they broke her jaw a bit I think#for straighter teeth. that was all. Nothing fucking else#I chose not to get them and I stand by that with no big problems yet#and I get offering someone braces/invisilign once or twice so they know it's an option. I'm a reasonable guy#but EVERY fucking time at my old dentist they tried to wheedle me into them with aesthetics and pretend health scares#that my new one has mysteriously not mentioned *once*.#You'd think potential mouth cancer from the bump of my bottom teeth they mentioned#(AFTER mentioning that they sold invisilign and could make an appointment for me to get some)#would transfer providers but no. Somehow not.

I'll be honest gang this episode of If Books Could Kill about the book Who Moved My Cheese? is hitting so close to home someone has thrown a brick through my bedroom window
#its a book that exists as little more than layoffs are good propoganda and the hosts are talking about how layoffs and cuts dont actually#work to increase share values of a company and how companies tend to overhire for their sudden and self generated lack of competent staff#i dont talk about work much but recently the company i work for has merged with a sister company. sister company was known for providing#expensive but quality service while we did the cheapest version of the same service#(whats the point in having 2 companies for that? dont ask me this happened before i was born i think)#but now the expensive quality service that sister company was known is now dogshit and we're losing tons of money bc we charge the same for#not only bad service but service we are consistently failing at. so#its slightly different bc it wasnt mass layoffs at sister company. from what i understand it was more middle management condensing and such.#everyone at the lowest levels kept their job. but at least at my location a lot of them were literally unable to do the work that they were#good at at the same standard. so they mostly quit. and now we need a lot of ppl to replace them who i know will be trained at lesser quality#and will be pushed to harder capacities#anyways i hate my job and want to quit so bad but this is literally the time of year to make the most bank so i will not be doing so until#at least the new year. potentially later. who knows#common sayings

shoutout to walmart for doing more for my community than the government officials are
#the situation here is being handled so poorly 👍#there was a news article i read that listed everything city officials said they were doing#but have given no evidence or proof of ACTUALLY doing and the article said they would continue reaching out#bc the officials were not responding to them#it took fucking KEMP for us to finally request federal aid#we weren't under a state of emergency until 2 hours AFTER the hurricane hit#i just#its fucking ridiculous#but there are some walmarts providing water hot meals wifi spots charging stations#abd i saw shower and layndry services listed as well ???#while the city gave out water twice in a location that was out of the way for much of the city#during a time when getting gas is a 4+ hour trip#while we're under a curfew#AND they cut our water for 2 days while none of us had power and it was 80-90F outside daily#now we're on a boil advisory#which again so much of the city can't do without POWER#but at least i could shower so long as i was careful jfjsjcj#anyway#yeah. YEAH.#fuck this city fuck our government fuck our mayor#hopefully biden approves our request for assistance and then maybe we can actually get something happening down here#sorry i just#i read about the walmart stuff and remembered all of the nothing happening from our government#and got angry#also i went to one of the water things they did yesterday and ended up just driving home bc the line was SO LONG#and like i get it i do but maybe idk have more than one set up in different areas??#or have it last longer than an hour or two????#idk. idk. im annoyed.#shh ac

ok thats it i literally need a new job now .
#i know i bitch and moan a lot abt my job. but not without good reason!#however i really want to get out of here now today.#fucking. supervisor who keeps telling me to do more as far as maintaining the coffee area#when 90% of the issues are actually fault of the dumbass stock traders we make coffee for who dont know how to make a cup of coffee#and cant clean up after themselves. and i get that its my job but this is also just fucking stupid#and normally she tells me this stuff in the area where i brew the coffee which is more or less away from people#its at least more away from people than the hallway where the coffee station is where people always are#which is where she chose to loudly tell me more things i should be doing#maybe don't fucking do that in front of the people i do this stuff for! now they think im a fucking idiot!#like that's just. idk kind of unprofessional to me like you don't lecture your employees in front of customers#if we're so concerned abt the appearance and image of the service we provide (which this place is concerned way too much with)#then idk maybe talking abt that kind of stuff should be done more privately. or at least quietly#like she wasnt yelling at me but like everyone around could clearly hear it#but like ive said before i cant standddddd this job anymore.#so i might apply for that store leader job at gregorys coffee#even though the work culture there seems like a different kind of annoying#id at least be making Much More and also closer to where i live so#i just have to fix up my resume and make it seem like i can handle more of a management kinda job

I'm always surprised by the way benson lays down jess' body instead of just dumping it with the rest like i expect him to every time. it's so contrastive to everything he's just done. it makes me think that he didn't really want to kill her, unlike chris and hardy, but that doing so was the easiest way to get her to stop screaming.
and when I think about how he interacts with ms beard when he's putting her into the same situation, he decides to take her with them only because she's proven to be more manageable than Jess was under the circumstances. he doesn't want to kill her either, and he won't have to if she just listens to what he says.
#now that i think about it i kinda wish there at least one scene where we see him interact with jess before shooting her#because we know what he's like with women to are providing him with a service#he turns on the charm with marsha (before he humiliates her which tbqh can very well be racially motivated. like would he have said the same#to a white waitress?) and the charm is also on with the receptionist at the school#then we have his relationship with his ma which is shown to be both loving/caretaking like getting giving her breakfast and his cigarettes#but also the annoyance that comes with having to take care of her#and finally the way he acts with lisa is completely different he's kinda just lurking in the background and when he does actually adress her#he's being really creepy about it by asking her what she's doing later which makes it sound like he's asking for himself#but really he's just asking for randy#like he didn't have to say it like that but he did so it that how he usually is with women who arent actively giving him something?#the passenger#benson nolastname
