I feel really insane over helena eagan's reactions to helly's feelings. and i think this one edit I saw on twitter (an edit to "a new kind of love" by frou frou by 888hnh on tiktok) encapsulates it really well.

"if you're falling in love let me feel it" like..... INSANE. helena has probably never really. Felt anything like it. and suddenly it's just There, and of course she's gonna be. amazed by it.

if innies are subhuman, if innies aren't real people, then. how. come. I. feel. this. way.

kind of like when you fall in love, you can feel your body's chemistry change in Real Time. imagine having that happen and having no clue why. no clue, until you realise your innie is falling in love, and in doing so, in a way so are you. of course helena is gonna be going crazy over outie mark too. just thinking, "can you feel it? can you feel it like I can? logically, there's nothing tying us together. it's not you and me down there. yet there is. there must be. is there?"

she's intrigued. she's curious. hell, I'd even say she's excited! like this might be the first time she's ever felt anything like it, and in a way, it's hers, and in a way, it's not. of course a part of her wants to cheat. break the balance. have a taste. stick your finger in the cake's buttercream while no one is looking.

she wants to know. she wants to know why helly feels it. she wants to know why she feels it. and god, does she want to know if she's capable of feeling it for herself.

and as an arm hooks around his waist, to pull him close-- he is reminded just how much he loves him. how utterly mad he feels with it. he didn't think it was possible to feel so deeply about someone else. of course he's heard stories; tales of romance, of longing and yearning, of finding your other half. and briar believed for the longest time that it was just that, fiction.

atticus however proves time and time again; with the simplest things, how real it is. from the smallest habits, to the grandest gestures, he is enamored by nearly every thing he does. wishing he could stop the clock, just to bask in it a little longer.

" demanding. needy. " speaking between each one. " absolutely rel- " words cut off entirely by the next, satisfied by the easy addition of tongue. an effective way of getting him to stop, for sure. face growing hot, as it deepens further-- boot/hill leaning more into him. which leaves briar with no other choice than to rely on the other for stability.

if he could, he'd just kiss him forever. but that was physically impossible, giving his cheek a pinch as he feels his lungs need for air. a tight pressure in his ribs, rivaling the pleasure he chases; tasting him, feeling him. a gasp as he turns his head to break the kiss, face flushed, his shades pushed up into his hair.

briar's expression is cheeky, another breathy laugh following yet another kiss. this one against the side of his face. " i'll forgive you though, since you're so cute. " closing the distance again then, to continue where they'd left off.

he didn't HAVE to smile at him then, so bright-eyed. he didn't have to share his tragic backstory. he didn't even have to fucking help him with the revolution, he didn't have to shoot his guards he could've pretended to be a terrible shot. he could've betrayed him anytime and yet chose to maintain his mystery until he got away from gi-hun and FAKED HIS DEATH. like what possibly could he gain from this?? gi-hun must find out who he is sooner or later, who cares if it's sooner??

HE CARES. HE. CARES. whether you view them romantically or not, in-ho CARES. there's a piece of him that plays into this entire inner conflict that makes him CARE. FOR GI-HUN. HE CARES FOR GI-HUN even to SOME degree. and that is INSANE to me.
