All my headcanons promptly vanished as soon as I saw this so please forgive me for taking a minute to answer
They’re very touchy with each other. In private only, they’re not big into public displays of affection (unless we’re talking LU, then Fable can and will give Legend a big ol smooch in front of his brothers XD). But when they’re together they’re very snuggly hehe
After Koholint Link sometimes needs to reassure himself Zelda is real. This plays into the previous headcanon because touching her and/or being close to her helps break the fear that this is all a dream
Both of them LOVE apples. Apple pie, apple cider, just plain apples — they’ll devour it all. Zelda’s favorite though are these little apple strudel cakes Link made for her birthday. He loves how much she loves them, which prompts him to make more much to her delight
Zelda is the only one — besides Ravio, since he’s Link’s unofficial roommate — allowed to peruse Link’s dragon-sized hoard of treasure and tools. The two of them can spend hours nerding out over each item and just magic in general
Early in their friendship, Link gifts Zelda a protection bracelet (much like Time did for Malon with her wedding ring) . She can take care of herself and he knows that, but still extra protection never hurts
With that in mind…one of his rings is a gift from Zelda. It’s also for protection. He knows that but what really makes it precious to him is that it’s from her. He never takes it off
During LU Link writes her letters whenever he can. Wild teases him about the fact that he puts a little heart at the end of his signature (he doesn’t do this when writing to anyone else)
Zelda has seen Link as a bunny before and she finds him absolutely adorable. Powerless as he feels in that form, she’s the only one he feels safe with
“You heard me!” Shadow Milk smiles sharply. His voice is playful as ever, but the glint in his eyes is deadly serious. Pure Vanilla listens closely as the mirth in his tone evaporates, that unearthly stare boring into him more intensely than ever before. “Take. It. Off.”
Subconsciously, the healer feels his hand drift towards his Soul Jam. It thrums with power beneath his fingers, simultaneous reassurance and warning pulsating through the azure jewel. It clings to his robes like it knows what will happen if it is removed, and Pure Vanilla finds himself shaking his head before he even realises what he’s doing.
“No,” he says, voice definite. Shadow Milk is capable of putting him through torture beyond comprehension, but Pure Vanilla will not falter. He can’t afford to, not when so much is at stake. He steels his gaze, tightens his grip, and offers a denial that can only be met with fury.
As expected, the world twists and warps around him, the warm, fuzzy edges of his dreamlike prison distorting into a tangle of blackened tendrils, creeping and twisting and grabbing. Pure Vanilla is safe when he’s awake. That doesn’t stop Shadow Milk from trying to convince him to surrender when unconscious. The Dark Side of the Moon is an otherworldly place; in a sense, Pure Vanilla wonders if he ever sleeps at all, anymore. He certainly doesn’t feel rested just then.
“No?” The jester echoes finally, head tilting eerily to the side. Pure Vanilla does his best not to shudder at the anger he feels emanating from Shadow Milk in waves. “Hmm. You know,” His voice dips into something between a purr and a growl, tracing his finger down Pure Vanilla’s jaw. The Beast is a master of deception, and Pure Vanilla knows as much. That doesn’t stop the urge he feels to lean into the first warm touch he’s felt in what feels like centuries. “This would be so much easier if you stopped resisting. So stubborn, Vanilly! I’d be impressed if it wasn’t so infuriating.”
The grip on his jaw tightens, and Pure Vanilla desperately hopes that determination masks the fear in his eyes as they’re wrenched towards Shadow Milk’s own. He’s too close, Pure Vanilla thinks distantly, sickening anxiety slithering under his skin. The scorching, gentle touch he provides is something the healer both despises and craves, and he hates himself for the latter.
“No matter,” Shadow Milk softens again, stroking against Pure Vanilla’s cheek. He should fight back. He doesn’t. “You’ll come around eventually.” The steady tick of a clock begins to echo in Pure Vanilla’s ears, unnatural and loud and far too damning.
Kaeya: Diluc gets rid of things he doesn’t need anymore…with how much he resents me, I must be no different-
Diluc:
Never banned Kaeya from the tavern, even with their History and how much Kaeya pesters him there nor makes any moves to
Kept every single letter Kaeya wrote to him while in Snezhnaya, which was also the vast majority correspondence penned by one person he kept in the Winery's stash (every Letter in Beautiful Handwriting/Hidden Strife Event)
Kept the fucken vase Kaeya used on a whim to give his Vision back in, even if it did NOT match the decor of the Winery (Genshin Manga/Venti SQ/Kaeya Hangout)
Was extremely patient with Kaeya accusing him of casting aside Crepus' legacy in response to him telling Kaeya to drink responsibly (Venti SQ)
In that same dialogue, was more in disbelief/offended that Kaeya seemed to believe he would ever think of callously throwing him out than by Kae's comment abt Crepus of all things (Venti SQ)
Stayed with Kaeya on the island the entire time, no matter how much they bickered, even though he could have gone after one of the others or even taken off on his own like they did instead (Midsummer Island Adventure)
Was genuinely surprised/touched when Kae revealed he thought fondly of their childhood days gathering seashells (Echoing Tales)
Let himself get arrested for Kaeya’s harebrained scheme to save a little girl Luc didn't even know about previously, and RIGHT after Kaeya outright accused HIM of being the murderer too (Genshin Manga)
Gave Kaeya a free drink without being asked when he came to visit him to deliver the aforementioned vase after the scheme was complete (Genshin Manga)
Never refuted Kaeya's claim that Dawn Winery was his home too, nor Kae's claims that people had every right to visit 'home' during festival seasons (Weinlesefest)
Let Kaeya score free booze for the Knights to distribute for the Weinlesefest to help better their image, that Lisa specifically sent Kaeya to ask of Diluc bc she KNEW Diluc wouldn’t say no to him (Weinlesefest)
Expressed he would have Elzer speak with Hertha bc Kaeya mentioned the Knights' financial situation as an afterthought, despite how much Diluc dislikes the Knights (Weinlesefest)
Got moody bc Kaeya didn’t want to stay for dinner and IMMEDIATELY jumped at the chance to make Kaeya stay when Addie intervened to insist (Weinlesefest)
Lets and NEVER stops the servants from referring to Kaeya as ‘master’ too (They do so freely in front of him in Weinlesefest & Kaeya Hangout in particular)
Was perfectly okay with Kaeya staying at the Winery when he left, even after their dispute (Letter with Clear Handwriting/Hidden Strife)
Always remembers every single one of Kaeya’s silly excuses to try and get free wine out of him, and teases him for forgetting which he’s already used & precisely how long ago he did (Kaeya Hangout)
Is said, by Elzer, to in fact be completely fine with Kaeya stealing drinks from the Winery, even if he outwardly complains abt it (Kaeya Hangout)
Solemnly asks about Kaeya when he thinks Kaeya already left, and unpromptedly talks him up to Traveler in regards to Kae's own ability to the Winery (Kaeya Hangout)
i haven't even watched the show yet but all the season 2 clips are making me think of interview with the vampire again...if you think about it Samuel Ayers is actually extremely louis coded! I'm uhmmm, mostly cracking jokes because the show gearing up for the trial is really hitting me in my feels, I don't think any novel has really hurt me the way the later half of iwtv has, and reliving all those feels even vicariously is getting kinda tough. Wonder if I'm gonna feel the same sort of tonal whiplash I did when the show transitions into the vampire lestat lmao
given grief by career evil playthroughers about my drow Paladin "Oh just like Minthara?" NO She is NOT like Minthara she is a GOOD SELDARINE DROW PALADIN who PRAYS to Elistraeree EVERYDAY if FIFTH EDITION was GOOD it would still have BLACKGUARDS and we wouldnt have to SUFFER the OXYMORON of EVIL PALADINS
Something . . . something . . . while Daenerys will typically answer to all of her titles, she does not particularly enjoy being directly referred to as Azor Ahai or even Azor Ahai Reborn. There is a difference between "I have come to serve you, Azor Ahai" and "There, mounted on dragonback, sits Azor Ahai." Why doesn't she fully embrace being called Azor Ahai? Because it is a full name and was a full identity that existed before her ; thus, Azor Ahai represents an entirely different person. Now, this is not to say that she does not recognize herself as the subject of the prophecy when the revelation/process of reflecting and accepting comes. She just does not wish to usurp the legacy that this hero has/had, nor does she wish to eclipse her own name and legacy. She has worked hard and accomplished great feats to earn most of her titles. There is something about the simple fact of being born and having an entitlement to the name of a great hero that does not sit well with her, which relates to direct vs. indirect references to her as Azor Ahai/Azor Ahai Reborn. She, as Daenerys, wants to live up to the title, but she does not wish to overshadow it by taking on the name directly, nor does she wish to be overshadowed by its grandeur. It is out of respect. Also, Dany doesn't want any ideas floating around about how she's Azor Ahai's literal reincarnation ( because she is not ). But also, Azor Ahai/Azor Ahai Reborn are used so interchangably with the Prince That Was Promised, and that particular prophecy is so deeply tied to the Targaryens. She just vibes with it more.
pov:u go into blue pe/riod goin haha i too went to art school n then u come out of the otherside holding ur head at "why did u choose art sen/sei" "i just chose a hell i could live with" and "do you even like art?" and "everybody is telling you about closure and how to move on from grief, but there's nothing wrong with holding that grief forever for the rest of your life" and "if u give it ur all and still fail, you should off urself?" and "does it even matter if your work is popular - isn't it enough for it to resonate with just the one person bc it moved them so deeply-"
"My entire identity has been wiped out" says Saqr Abdel Aal whose immediate family were all killed. On April 22nd, 2024, the Abdel Aal family were targeted in an air strike that resulted in the deaths of at least 17 children and 2 adults. With tears in our eyes too, we were present to capture their painful farewells.
Every night welcomes new martyrs, and every morning is full of grief. When will this end? Rafah is not a safe place for children, women, or men.
We remain on the ground in Gaza, capturing the reality of their community while supporting them via aid missions. It is our greatest dream for Palestine to be free and safe. 💔 🌍✊🏼🇵🇸" from Gaza Sunbirds, 25/Apr/2024:
I first posted this in a thread over on BlueSky, but I decided to port (a slightly edited version of) it over here, too.
Entirely aside from the absurd and deeply incorrect idea [NaNoWriMo has posited] that machine-generated text and images are somehow "leveling the playing field" for marginalized groups, I think we need to interrogate the base assumption that acknowledging how people have different abilities is ableist/discriminatory. Everyone SHOULD have access to an equal playing field when it comes to housing, healthcare, the ability to exist in public spaces, participating in general public life, employment, etc.
That doesn't mean every person gets to achieve every dream no matter what.
I am 39 years old and I have scoliosis and genetically tight hamstrings, both of which deeply impact my mobility. I will never be a professional contortionist. If I found a robot made out of tentacles and made it do contortion and then demanded everyone call me a contortionist, I would be rightly laughed out of any contortion community. Also, to make it equivalent, the tentacle robot would be provided for "free" by a huge corporation based on stolen unpaid routines from actual contortionists, and using it would boil drinking water in the Southwest into nothingness every time I asked it to do anything, and the whole point would be to avoid paying actual contortionists.
If you cannot - fully CAN NOT - do something, even with accommodations, that does not make you worth less as a person, and it doesn't mean the accommodations shouldn't exist, but it does mean that maybe that thing is not for you.
But who CAN NOT do things are not who uses "AI." It's people who WILL NOT do things.
"AI art means disabled people can be artists who wouldn't be able to otherwise!" There are armless artists drawing with their feet. There are paralyzed artists drawing with their mouths, or with special tracking software that translates their eye movements into lines. There are deeply dyslexic authors writing via text-to-speech. There are deaf musicians. If you actually want to do a thing and care about doing the thing, you can almost always find a way to do the thing.
Telling a machine to do it for you isn't equalizing access for the marginalized. It's cheating. It's anti-labor. It makes it easier for corporations not to pay creative workers, AND THAT'S IS WHY THEY'RE PUSHING IT EVERYWHERE.
I can't wait for the bubble to burst on machine-generated everything, just like it did for NFTs. When it does some people are going to discover they didn't actually learn anything or develop any transferable skills or make anything they can be proud of.
I hope a few of those people pick up a pencil.
It's never too late to start creating. It's never too late to actually learn something. It's never too late to realize that the work is the point.
