I’ve been saying that I need Colin to make it crystal clear to Pen that she is his entire world and that he will fight for her, with her and go through whatever shitstorm come their way by her side.

Well, after reading « I am trying out a new personality. A new way of seeing the world and interacting with others. I want to be less needy, less insecure, while still maintaining the core of my vulnerability that makes me who I am. »

And knowing that he was being so hurt by Lady Whistledown’s calling him out for exactly what he is trying to do although it probably costs him a lot to wear this new personality like a cloak around his authentic self. I guess he probably hated being a charmer, he must have felt so awkward but also he must have tried so hard to push down that little voice inside his head screaming at him that that was not him.

I need Penelope to make it crystal clear to him that he is exactly who she wants. That his soft and sensitive side is exactly why she is so in love with him. That he is absolutely perfect as he is, that he shines brightest when he is being true to himself, and that he does not have to, nor should he change for anyone in this world.

Their teams are two of the oldest in F1 history, and they're irreperably wrapped up in a history of scandal between each other. They both quickly became their teams' golden child, the one who was going to win the championships, the one who was going to end a decade-long deficit.

Both failed at the hands of Max Verstappen. Don't even get me started on how he fits into all this.

Both have the potential to be entirely shafted by their teams in 2025 because of the new, interesting teammate that everyone believes will win a championship before they'll come close.

They hate each other. They can't get away from each other. They're the same person. Four squared is sixteen.

Back on my Danny & Ras frienemies/rivals/maybe-lovers-nobody-can-tell-their-signals-are-very-mixed train. 

See, Danny has gone through time a lot. Often. It comes with being Clockwork’s charge-son-thing and honestly he finds it fun. And several times he’s used this time travelling to get some training in. Enter Ras, stage left, also a teen at the time and also learning swordsmanship from the same person. 

And they… utterly despise each other. They would kill the other for an apple slice, if the other one would die! But also, only they can kill the other, as it is obviously their right! 

And well, they keep running into each other. It has been a hundred years, surely the other would die by now? But of course their rival would live through utter spite. Probably to spite them specifically. 

The amount of times they have ended up sparring- trying to kill each other or not- the moment they see the other is actually ridiculous. But time is also passing. And… Danny understands, not having another to talk about things people are forgetting, or have already forgotten. 

How they ended up actually talking without a murder attempt was a long story that included a demon, a dragon, a pair of fae, some bandits, and a lot of alcohol, but it happened. And then it happens again. And again, and now it’s just kind of normal to share a drink after their spars, talking about things that no longer exist, and things they miss. 

Sure Danny can go back in time again, but he knows better than to do it willy nilly. He’s matured, he’s been an adult for a hundred years now, he knows there’s consequences for messing with time, even with Clockwork’s blessings. 

The first time they got married was technically for an undercover assassination. Well, Ras was there to assassinate someone, Danny was there to grab an artifact that should Not be in the realm of the living. And they got divorced after, it was fine. 

They just, also got married again when they met a few years later, for another job. And… okay, so maybe they have gotten married over a dozen times now and only divorced like half of those times. Half of those were for the bit or while drunk! 

And even if technically they’re married or shared a bed, it’s not like they're exclusive! As Ras’ daughters’ existences attest to (adopted in one case or not). They don’t exactly have a label for their relationship, despite others asking for one or trying to put a name to it themselves. 

Now Danny knows Ras isn’t exactly a good dude, or at least on the side of ‘good’ as he’s a literal assassin. But he also knows that good? Bad? Rather relative. He had gotten labeled as a villain when he was just trying to help all that time ago after all, and really who was he to tell someone else how to live their life? 

Which brings him to now, where he’s run into his old frienemy-rival and his youngest daughter. Who has a braindead teenager and a small toddler. Which is fine, really- but also, Talia dear, why are you using a brain dead teenager to guard your three year old son?

Okay, Talia dear, Ras (Derogatory), why are you using your brain dead son and grandson to guard your younger son and grandson? Do you not have the Pits, which you were soo proud about Ras? Yes, he will spar with you, but for Realms’ sake, heal, what’s his name? Ah yes, go heal Jason and he’ll actually stick around for a few years, deal? Good.

There is a theory that the way children play serves as a means to simulate and prepare them for the tasks they'll take on as adults. So for all the narrative weight both Jinx and the story give the boxing machine at the arcade it would never have prepared her or the kids to take on Piltover.

What are the two things that Piltovans excel at over their Zaunite counterparts to keep the hierarchy? Weapons and technological development.

When you look at the way Piltovans invest in their children, they don't prioritize hand to hand/melee combat training. Piltovans focus on giving their children experiences in handling firearms, a pursuit that is both leisure sport for the wealthy and a key offense against dissenting Zaunites.

And from the show notes even Jayce, whose family occupies the upper middle class, was sent on educational excursions across Runeterra to explore the world and learn what it had to offer. Without Jayce's education abroad he would never have been inspired to pursue the concept hextech.

It's no wonder that the two figures that are set to be Piltover's biggest threats from Zaun are Jinx and Viktor, becasue they engaged in the same kinds of games and activities as their Piltovan counterparts.

Jinx didn't have an entire forest preserved to help her practice her sharpshooting like the high houses of Piltover, but she did excel in the few games at The Rift (the arcade) that built on her talents. She's the only Zaunite thus far who's long distance offensive is a strong counter to Piltover's forces.

Viktor couldn't travel the world like Jayce did, but for better or worse he managed to stumble into an opportunity to get real opportunity in research not offered to his peers through Singed. It was through that experience that Viktor knew to turn to Singed when he was at the end of his rope, and the consequences of that will be fully realized in season 2.

Ironically, the kind of skill the boxing game champions is only good for keeping other Zaunites in line. Vander's days of fighting Piltover were way behind him when we first met him, and Vi spends season 1 primarily fighting other Zaunites. It's no surprise the Zaunites who embody the old ideal of strength in Zaun that the game portrays, Vi and Vander, are largely at the mercy of Piltover and end up collaborating with them to avoid further harm.

Zaun's future as an independent city-state couldn't happen if they stuck to their old ideals. The people who stand a chance against Piltover are the ones that not only succeed but excel at playing Piltover's games against them.

I dont understand the trend of fandoms trying to make all characters friends and erase any conflict between them as if that's an indictment of either of those characters as people.

Sometimes two fundamentaly good people exist in completely different worlds. Sometimes people just don't like each other. Conflict is just as integral to interesting development as friendship/romance. I don't understand why people are so desperate to sand characters down to featureless monoliths

Well, after the initial shock wears off, Buck doesn't cry. Doesn't show much emotion at all. He gets through going to Texas and telling Chris, gets through the trip back home, get through the viewing and the funeral, all without falling apart.

And that worries everyone, but they're going through their own pain and can't just focus on Buck. He returns to work and goes through the motions and pretends all is well.

So, Tommy ends up coming over for visits with Buck. He knows Buck is as fragile as glass right now and clink away from shattering. But Buck insists he's fine. He's drinking more than usual, locks himself out of his place one night and sleeps in the hall (his key was in his pocket the whole time), calls Tommy after he gets tossed in jail for a fight, but he's fine.

Tommy doesn't give up though. Not even when Buck starts shoving at him, telling him to leave him alone and get the hell out of his place! Yelling that Tommy doesn't have the right to care anymore, and he's a big boy who can take care of himself. That's when Tommy just holds onto him and tells him, over and over, "It's okay to not be okay, Evan. I'm not okay either, and I didn't know him like you did."

And that's when the dam breaks. Buck falls apart in Tommy's arms because everyone he cares about leaves him somehow, like he's cursed or something. And he'd made a promise to himself, for Christopher, to keep his dad safe and he couldn't do that! He'd been ready to say goodbye to Eddie when he left for Texas. He was happy for him to get to go be with Chris, but that didn't happen and Buck didn't get to say goodbye and it's not fair! It's not fair!

And Tommy just holds him. Doesn't try for any comforting words, just leads him to the couch and holds him until he falls asleep.
